Scandic Simonkentta

We booked a room with queen-sized bed but when we arrived at the hotel they informed us that they overbooked and we can only get a room with 2 single beds. But they will upgrade us to a room with “better” view. Our view was consisting of a square where people with in a queue to enter a nightclub so there was a lot of noise between 10 and 12 in the evening. The location is great but due to the service and noise would not stay again.

This is an older building and it has a lot to be desired. The hotel offers that has air conditioning which is false none of the rooms have air conditioning and the rooms are very hot and stuffy and there's no air movement in the rooms at all. The beds a ridiculous there are advertised as a king size bed yet they're just 2 single beds pushed together and there's not even padding over the join. Then they only have two single duvets, it's nothing like a king or queen size bed at all. The advertising for this hotel is nothing but deceitful. The bathrooms are small and the bathroom floor tiles are slippery and dangerous, and the water pressure is okay but could be a lot better. There is an LCD TV with only 3 English speaking channels on it, very poor. Housekeeping is extremely poor quality and they don't wipe down the benches or do anything much at all. They don't change the sheets and they don't even make the beds properly, the rushing straighten up and get out I've seen much better housekeeping evening 2 star hotels in this hotel needs a hell of a lot of improvement with its housekeeping. The hotel really lacks in many areas and is beaten by two-star hotels and it's heavily overpriced for the little that they offer. I wouldn't recommend it and I would suggest looking at other hotels as an alternative, and I should be prosecuted for false advertising I definitely would not recommend this hotel

Great location. Beware though it can get busy and louder on the weekends. Just hope you’re not facing the main square. Gym is adequate, not the heaviest weights but it works. The sauna is great. My wife had to educate me on Finnish sauna. Shower before, get naked, lay a paper down and relax. Shower off after. There is no coed, separate men and women saunas and lockers.

I recently stayed at Scandic Simonkenttä in Helsinki and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel’s location is excellent right in the city center, within walking distance of major attractions, shopping areas, restaurants, and public transport connections. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing everything needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a busy day exploring Helsinki. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help with recommendations and any questions. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. One of the highlights was the breakfast buffet, which offered a wide variety of fresh and delicious options, including local specialties and healthy choices. Overall, Scandic Simonkenttä combines a fantastic location, comfortable accommodations, excellent service, and great value for money. I would highly recommend it to both business and leisure travelers visiting Helsinki and would gladly stay there again.
