Hotel Ax

We had an overall pleasant stay. The staff were very attentive and welcoming, we really enjoyed the breakfast, and the location was very convenient. However, we were quite disappointed with the size of the room. We understand that we should perhaps have paid more attention to the room dimensions when booking, although we did feel that the photos made the space appear larger than it actually was. The room was extremely small, to the point that it was difficult for two people to move around comfortably at the same time. We only had one cabin-sized suitcase and there was simply no space to open it, so we had to place it on the bed whenever we needed something from it. As soon as you enter the room, you are practically at the bed, with the window immediately next to it. Personally, I found the lack of space quite claustrophobic. Unfortunately, there was also a constant noise coming from the air-conditioning/ventilation system throughout the night, which made it difficult to sleep. There were definitely things we appreciated about our stay, particularly the staff, breakfast and location. However, the extremely limited space and the noise at night had a significant impact on our overall experience.

Amazing Arts Hotel with great stuff and a welcoming atmosphere . Thanks to Malin and her Team for making this stay so special for us. Supermarkets, Restaurants and a pub with afterwork beer for just 5€ are close by. Especially top located (2 tram stations) when planning a Tallink trip to Tallin. Breakfast has always a wide variety. Thanks for having us. Strongly recommended!

Hotel AX has the perfect location if you want to park your car safely in a bombshelter/garage and use public transport/walk around Helsinki :) (Getting to the city center takes 20 minutes to walk or 6-9 minutes on the tram from outside the entrance.) Lots of artwork inside the hotel and every room has its own decor wall by an artist. There are a small R-kioski just next door and a few larger shops near by (4 minutes walk) if you need a snack. (We did not try the hotel breakfast, but it was lots of people there in the morning.) Friendly staff and easy check in/out is a hallmark of Strawberry hotels and Hotel AX is no exception. Would probably choose this hotel again if/when I come to Helsinki.

Cons: We stayed in a standard room, but it was very small. There were a few hangers instead of a wardrobe, but not enough space to unpack your suitcase ans staff. The conditioner and shampoo were same, and despite being a 4-star hotel, there were no slippers in the room; they said we can buy slipper for 8€. Breakfast could have included olives, and the variety could have been better. Pros: The hotel's location is excellent, and the blackout curtains provide plenty of darkness. It's a quiet neighborhood where you can relax. Tram number 9 takes you to main places you'd need mostly. We tried the cocktails, and they were good.
