This tour was going to be great, but it never eventuated... Viator took our money, confirmed our booking and reminded us of our early pickup... When nobody arrived, they blamed the tour operator. After much mucking about, it transpired the tour operator never had our booking and do not even run that tour on Mondays! Viator have not responded to our complaints and we will never use them again. I'd book this tour directly with the operator.

In 1899, James Dole, just 22 years old, moved to Honolulu from Massachusetts and purchased 64 acres of land in the central plains of Oahu. After trying several experimental crops, he settled on pineapple. This was the beginning of the pineapple empire. Dole created two canneries in Wahiawa and Honolulu Harbor and started advertising, resulting in nationwide consumer popularity. After bringing in automatic pineapple peelers, business boomed even greater. In 1950, a small fruit stand was created in Dole’s fields. A plantation-style home was erected in 1989 and turned into an archive and living museum, honoring the work and life of James Dole. Please understand you will not have time to ride the Train or get in the Maze. The lines are long and this stop is only for 30 minutes.

Iolani Palace is a living restoration of a proud Hawaiian national identity and is recognized as the spiritual and physical multicultural epicenter of Hawaii. Built in 1882 by King Kalakua, Iolani Palace was the home of Hawaii's last reigning monarchs and served as the official royal residence and the residence of the Kingdom's political and social life until the overthrow of the monarchy in 1893. Registered as a National Historic Landmark since 1962 and the only official royal residence in the United States.
This majestic King Kamehameha I statue that stands proudly out the front of Ali’iolane Hale in Downtown Honolulu, is a casting of one of Hawaii's most beloved and revered rulers Kamehameha the Great, who was the first to unify all the islands and welcome westerners to his lands. Kamehameha was a revered warrior and leader, and he united Hawaii into one royal kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. He also encouraged foreign trade and technology while avoiding foreign rule. He is depicted in the 18-foot bronze statue as extending his hand in a welcoming gesture of aloha. King Kamehameha commissioned the construction of Ali’iolani Hale to be the royal palace of the Hawaiian Monarchy. It was built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style and its name means ‘House of the heavenly King’. Ali’iolani Hale eventually became an administrative building and now houses the Supreme Court of Hawaii as well as the Judiciary History Center. The 18-foot bronze King Kamehameha Statue.

Captain Vince was very clear about details of pick up where we were going . We were the only ones on the tour – ha ha you could ask him anything and he will likely know and give you lots of information. I wish we had more time to do things at the Ranch, I thought the pineapple stop was just one giant gift shop. We really enjoyed the delicious lunch in a place I doubt tourists would find. wander into.
Captain Vince was a champ! He knows everything and everyone on this tour route. The sights are terrific especially the Waimea Falls in the botanical gardens. Snacks and lunch available throughout the trip. I was full by the end. He made us feel like family.
Captain Vince was absolutely the best tour guide ever. He made the tour so interesting during the ride there and enjoyed how he kept everyone engaged with one another and asking us questions and answering questions. If you looking for a good well organized fun time on your tour. Captain Vincent is the one
What can we say about Captain Vince and this tour? He is simply the best on Oahu. Knowledgeable, punctual, engaging, and genuinely fun all at once, Captain Vince turned our day into an unforgettable experience. Our family learned so much about the island in just one day, and he expertly guided us to the best photo spots as well as the most popular local food places. We give Captain Vince two big thumbs way up! Mahalo nui loa!
My daughters and I had a really great experience! Captain Vince is extremely nice and friendly. He gave a lot of information about the island. We definitely came home and learned new things. I definitely recommend to book a tour with him!
My fiancé and I had the most incredible day with Captain Vince. There was only us and another person, so it felt very intimate and special. The bus was well air-conditioned and the ride was smooth throughout the entire day. Everywhere we went was so beautiful, especially Waimea Valley where we swam in a gorgeous waterfall. We also ate some delicious food, from Leonard’s malasadas to Liliha Bakery. But what sets this tour apart is Captain Vince. He is funny, knowledgeable, and goes out of his way to accommodate his clients and provide the best experience possible. He has a truly beautiful soul, and we’re so lucky to have crossed paths with him during our trip to Oahu. If you are thinking about doing an island tour, this is the one. You won’t regret it!
Capt V is the absolute best. You get to see a little bit of everything on the island. There is something for everyone along this tour. We loved swimming in the waterfall, stopping at all the iconic sites, and enjoying all the amazing food! I would totally take this tour again. Capt V is the reason this tour stands out from all the others. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see a little bit of everything Oahu had to offer. Capt V provides information regarding the history of Hawaii, takes pictures for you along the entire route, and was very attentive to everyone’s needs/wants in our group. PLEASE GO ON THIS TOUR!!
We highly recommend Captain Vince if you are looking for a tour of a lifetime! He is communicative, on schedule and informative. We came to Hawai’i not only for vacation but also to learn and connect with the culture and community. This tour was exactly that and more because of Captain Vince’s beautiful and fun spirit. My favorite place of this tour was the Waimea botanical Garden connecting to the land and the beauty of mother nature and the blessing she has to offer. In addition to eating delicious foods and treats. We had great conversation too! Instantly Captain Vince felt like family “Ohana” and after the tour he became Ohana. Thank you so much for the experience! We highly recommend taking this tour.
If you are looking for a full circle tour then look no further than Captain Vince. The Captain only does this tour with a small bus. And that is way better than a 52 seate. And to boot, there were only 4 of us (shout out to Steve & Marie), almost 121. All along the day, The Captain kept us entettained with information about the stop, island history & culture and himself. Even had a continuous "quiz" going 😆 to keep "the family" entertained betwren stops. Even at the "purchase" stops, The Captain knew the people and easrd us into the facilitues like friends. And the banter with his fellow tour competitors was great. Be willing yo get up early and let The Captain be ahead of the pack at the stops to minimise wait times. Totally fantastic day.
Captain Vince was great! Very knowledgeable and friendly! We had a very small group so he brought us out in his convertible and it made the experience 10x better! Would definitely recommend!
The tour was great! Very similar to the Grand Circle Island Tour with the addition of the Waimea Botanical Gardens and Pali Lookout. The thing that really added to things was the tour guide Captain Vince. He was upbeat, made sure to fill us in on local custom/language, and just made sure to make things fun. Driving around the island in a convertible was a blast!
My best friend and I spent the day touring with Captain Vince with 1 Epic Tour and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip! From the moment he greeted us in the lobby, we knew we were in for something special. He was attentive, funny, knowledgeable, and made us feel like family the entire time. We loved how he included fun games that also taught us about Hawaiian culture—it made the day even more meaningful. I would book with him again in a heartbeat. If you’re visiting Oahu, don’t miss the chance to tour with Captain Vince!
Captain Vince is an amazing tour guide! He takes you on a very scenic tour with picturesque views!! He is even gracious enough to take your keepsake photographs for you!!
What a lot of fun! .Captain Vince made it such fun. What a great tour guide and just plain wonderful human being! A great trip around the Island and learned a lot.
Captain Vince. I would give him 10/10.. Honestly please don’t hesitate to book with him. If you looking for a tour guy , he’s the one and only I’ll recommend.. he’s so friendly, fun, very knowledgeable about the island.. he will keep you engaged the whole tour and he goes above and beyond the whole tour.
We had a fantastic experience on this tour! It ended up being just my husband and I on the tour bus. Captain Vince went above and beyond by giving us a private, customized day instead of canceling. He was engaging, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Captain Vince truly makes you feel like family. Every stop was enjoyable, and he even added a surprise visit to Kualoa Ranch, which made the day extra special. Highly recommend this tour! Captain Vince will truly make this an unforgettable experience!
Amazing tour guide I give him a 10 out of five rating. I will definitely book with him again in the future when I come back to Hawaii. He was very welcoming, funny and showed his passion for what he does. It was nothing but a stellar experience.
Very good trip. Tour person has a lot of the knowledge about Hawaiian, he knows how to communicate with people and we are became friends (truthfulness, compassion and forbearance). We learn a lot from him and will recommend to other people about this tour.
Vince was great! Very chatty, but not too chatty! Full of fun facts! Great trip, made the best of the day even tho it rained most of it! Great food stop (Liliha’s Bakery)
Considered the best and biggest botanical gardens in Oahu. A must for gardeners and botanist. It's a 1.5 mile walk one way so 3 miles round trip. The main drag is paved but the side trails are often times dirt and uphill so hard for a person with a wheelchair or walker. One can pay extra for a go-cart shuttle ride to or round trip to the waterfall that leaves at certain designated times. Many of the plants are labelled. swimming in the waterfall is optional. Pool seemed smaller than I was expecting. Changing rooms, life vest for lease and towels for sale I think are available on sight. If you are doing both the gardens and swim I'd recommend at least two hours there. The pool has a little slanted cement walk down but the rocks can be slippery. If you take the shuttle round trip you breeze past through the gardens, I took the shuttle to the waterfall and then walked back. Price was like ten dollars. You get a wooden nickel for each ride as proof of fair. Friendly staff.
This tour was booked as a group tour, however my wife and I were the only two participating. The guide, Capt. Vince went ahead with the tour anyway, which was very much to our advantage, it had become a private tour. The tour was exceptional, Capt. Vince's local knowledge of both the Island, and the people we were dealing with first class. The tour left our hotel at 6.30am to get ahead of the crowds later in the day, and did exactly that. We found we didn't have to line up anywhere. The tour was excellent and the guide, Capt. Vince was first class.
Captain Vince was an awesome captain and tour guide showed us a lot of great spots all over the island. Tell us a little bit of the native tongue. My family and I had a great time would definitely look Captain Vince up when we come back.
Captain Vince, owner / operator of 1 Epic Tour was awesome. Very knowledgeable and an enjoyable day. He made everyone in our tour group (all total strangers) feel like family right from the start and he was known and loved at every stop. 6 stars.
This was the best experience! Captain Vince went above and beyond. He ensured all passengers were engaged, entertained, and having fun while experiencing true Hawaiian culture / traditions. He is SO knowledgeable and answered every question we had with enthusiasm. He truly wants his passengers to have a great experience. I would 100% recommend this tour over tours offered with other companies. Definitely a highlight of the trip!
Great, comprehensive tour of Oahu. Captain Vince is knowledgeable, personable, and kept us entertained the entire 9 hours. :-) His was the only tour we could find that took us to both the Byodo-In Temple and the Waimea Falls -- they were "must-sees" for us. We highly recommend Captain Vince and this tour.
Friendly, informative, and educational tour. Seen some great points of interest on the island. Our guide, Vince, has extensive knowledge on the islands history and the Hawaiian culture. Highly recommended.
The tour was fantastic. The tour group really bonded. Our tour leader Captain Vince was the best. He was very engaging, learned a lot about Oahu and saw some amazing places. Highly recommend this tour.
The best day on Oahu! Vince made the day so much fun! He was so good about learning everyone’s names and including everyone in the conversations throughout the day. Not only did he take us to all the stops…he made it a learning experience. We learned so many history facts as well as trivia facts. We started out getting pics at sunrise. Beautiful! Vince took several pics of each couple and a group pic. Maybe favorite stop was the Waimea waterfall. Nothing like swimming under a waterfall. (Life jackets provided). At the end of the tour we all had a late lunch together. Great to make new friends on vacation! Mahalo Vince!
Captain Vince is engaging, knowledgeable, and aims to please! We had the best day and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
I had a very good experience with captain Vince, he explained a lot about Hawaii, was teaching many words in Hawaiin, the tour was great we got everywhere before the crowds and we had a lot of fun with him and the tour was the top must-do things. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Super fun tour! Captain Vince was terrific! Loved all the stops! Would highly recommend this tour to everyone!
Captain Vincent provided us the best overview of the island for our first day! He was prompt with our hotel pick up time and started the tour early to stay ahead of the other tours! Perfection! We learned so much history and many Hawaiian words and phrases in a short amount of time. The stops were wonderful and he explained the pass bys thoroughly. We highly recommend a tour with Captain Vince.
Captain Vince was so much fun and knowledgeable. It was such a great way to see the island and not only see tourist locations but also drive through the Ahupua’as. If you want to learn about the island, have fun, do some shopping and see some great sights, this is the tour!
Tour was amazing! Fun, personable, knowledgeable and connected everyone in the group for a fun day! He knows the area and taught us all Hawaiian terms and how to be respectful of those who call this home! Great treats song the way too!
This was a great way to get to know the island. I recommend this tour at the start of your journey. There are a ton of great highlights of things you will want to go back and experience yourself. Captain Vincent was an exceptional tour guide that kept it light fun and entertaining.
WE ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED OUR DAY TOUR. The company (and driver), are very mindful of time. We were coming off a cruiseship : Guide/driver was punctual and very mindful of returning us to ship on time. He was VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE and we got a good lesson in the history of the Island, its people, etc., etc. We were a party of 4, and all agreed that it was money well spent. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE TOUR COMPANY.
We had an amazing experience with Justin! He was incredibly knowledgeable, an excellent guide! I highly recommend this tour.
We had the most amazing tour guide with Justin. He really made this trip. His knowledge and delivery were top notch! I was a little disappointed not to have any beach stops - even if it was just for a picture it would have been nice. The waterfall swim was refreshing and great to do. Loved the temple and the opportunity for a bit of zen 🧘♀️
Justin was our tour guide in Honolulu. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. He took time to explain and share the history and the culture. We had an amazing time and would definitely book another tour with Viator especially with Justin. The booking process was easy. The day before our tour, we received clear directions to get to meeting point and Justin kept in touch with us to confirm meeting time as we were arriving by cruise ship.
We wanted to go to the Botanical gardens, for the Water Fall. Unfortunately due to drought conditions the falls were closed. CPT Vincent made up for this by taking us to Sharks Beach for snorkeling. Awesome!
Captain Vince took great care of us. We were treated very well at all of our stops. He knows the route very well and made sure that we were not at our stops with all of the big tour buses. Vince is very personable and knew us all by name. Be ready to learn about Oahu. 🤙
This tour was amazing! Captain Vince was so funny and so personable it felt like going on a tour with a long time friend. We had the honor of doing one of his more personal tours so it was just us and one other couple and it was amazing. Captain made sure we got there before it got too crowded to certain places which allowed us the time to actually enjoy ourselves. 10/10 would recommend. Mahalo Nui Loa 🤙 - T & R Martin P.S. Captain Vince will make sure you can speak several Hawaiian words before you leave the tour. We learned so much!
We loved every minute of our tour with Captain Vince! Such a great day, so many great experiences and so much history and culture. Highly recommend!
