We went on the snorkel tour with lunch out of A Bay the morning of March 24th. The boat was beautiful, the sandwiches were fresh and we appreciated the pick up from our hotel. The disappointment came from the actual snorkel experience. I was with my 8 year old grandson, who had very little experience and had never snorkeled in the ocean. As they passed out the snorkels the girls said they would help anyone who needed help and they were informed he was a 1st timer. After a very short time in the water my grandson had trouble with his mask. The captain tried to help from the boat with tightening but the girls were nowhere around. He got so frustrated with water getting in his mask he gave up. By the time I got him back on the boat I barely had any time left to snorkel. He was probably the youngest and least experienced person on the boat. I sure would have appreciated some help and encouragement from them so he could have enjoyed the experience. He was really excited to go and he ended up seeing about 1 fish. Probably checking and even double checking with the inexperienced would have been a great idea.

It was a very insightful tour. The host (Aaron) has been amazing and guided us through the tour very professionally and dedicatly. He really know a lot about the island and its remarkable nature.

This is a great experience while staying in Waikoloa. The pick up from Hilton Waikoloa Village was smooth. The boat is nice and spacious. The snorkel is a one stop and relatively small area, but we were super happy after spotting the turtles. The highlight for us was actually the whale watching that followed the snorkel! The Mai Tai and sandwiches after the snorkel are a delight, with little healthy treats like almonds. The staff are very cool, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great crew, I appreciated that the captain spent time teaching us how to wear the snorkel and everyone was required to wear a snorkel vest for visibility. It was also great to get picked up on the beach on A Bay as I was staying at the Marriot. Once at the snorkel site, there was also a large floating mat to hold onto/rest on (mostly the kids did this) if you were too tired. The ride to the snorkel site and back was smooth and view was beautiful of course. They also had prescription snorkel masks up to -5! It's not the crew's fault, but I wish we were able to see turtles, dolphins, or whales while we were on the catamaran or snorkeling. We did see a variety of fish. They mentioned that they had a whale watching tour later in the day that we could try to book. For lunch, they provided turkey/cheese sandwiches and nuts/granola bars/rice crispie treats for snacks. Drinks included juices or other alcoholic beverages.

Great experience! This was my second year in a row with Hawaiian Nautical and they did not disappoint. Attentive crew and lots of emphasis on safety. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Great boat, very nice crew. Snorkeling was so fun. Saw a lot of fish and corral. Such a fun day for the eight of us!

We had a wonderful time snorkeling with Zander, Nicole, Tatem and Josh. We also saw whales on our way back. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We learned a lot about whales and the ecosystem. The drinks were tasty too! Thanks Y'all!

This was a great Hawaiian experience! The crew was kind and friendly and helped ensure everyone was safe and had a good time. We enjoyed seeing beautiful sites on the way to the snorkel location, along with lots of flying fish. Once at the snorkel site we saw sea turtles as well as many varieties of fish and were able to snorkel until everyone felt they’d had enough time in the water. Then the crew raised the sails and we enjoyed sailing along while eating lunch, watching more flying fish and the beautiful shoreline. Then we got a bonus! We sighted a baby humpback whale surfacing and the captain got us in position to watch it surface several more times while the crew shared their knowledge of whale facts & migration behaviors. It was a fantastic excursion all around and our crew was top notch. Shout out to Keith, Nicole, Josh & Zander!

Great snorkel excursion with Captain Keith, Tess, Hunter and Ceasar. We had beautiful weather, calm seas, and the sea turtles were present to entertain us. Highly recommend

Just bring sunscreen and your towel. Everything else is taken care of. Was an awesome experience!!!!

I booked the Hawaiian Sea Turtle and Snorkeling with Lunch tour in Kona for June. Just two days before the tour, Hawaii Nautical contacted us to cancel due to staffing shortages. They offered to rebook us at a different location, and I specifically asked if it would still include the sea turtles, as that was the highlight for my grandson. They assured me it was the same experience — unfortunately, it absolutely was not. The new tour location was 45 minutes away (instead of 10), and we were never taken to an area known for sea turtles. There were no sightings and no mention of where they might be. We were taken directly to a snorkel spot, given about an hour in the water, and then brought right back. The crew was polite but did not provide any guidance or help spotting sea life. The included lunch was a dry sandwich — no sides, nothing else. For $175 per person, it was extremely disappointing and not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend this tour based on our experience. Be cautious if they try to switch tours last minute — it may not be what you originally paid for.

After agonizing for days on which company to book with, the concierge with Hilton recommended this tour. I’m so glad she did because this checked every box. The captain and crew were friendly, helpful, and fun. We saw dolphins 4 times! They swam with our boat, and did flips! The snorkeling location was great. We saw a ton of beautiful fish. The catamaran was new and in excellent condition. Casual lunch was given at the end, virgin drinks before snorkeling, and cocktails at the end. I recommend this tour 100%! This was the 9:00 AM- 12:00PM Waikaloa Sail and Snorkel excursion.

The crew was fantastic and went out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable. My wife was a bit nervous and was not sure if she wanted to dive in, but there was plenty of safety gear and guides in the water which encouraged her to take the plunge. The sadwiches, snacks, and drinks were a plus. After a week in Hawaii doing things all over the island, this trip was everyones favorite.

I had an awesome time. We went out un the mornimf which i recommend as the ocean is calm. Crew was great. Snorkeling really nice, saw a lot of fish and a turtle, sadly enough no dolphins. I will have to come back

It was great! The crew, especially Aly, were very personable and knowledgeable. We got plenty of time to enjoy the experience- especially stopping to watch the whales.

The crew on the Spirit of Aloha were awesome, really friendly and full of energy. Highlight of this tour was getting to see dolphins! The snorkeling experience wasn’t great though, maybe Waikoloa isn’t a good snorkeling spot?! (later heard from friends that Captain Cook is a good spot for snorkeling). Didn’t get to see anything, that was disappointing. At one point I saw some reef, that’s pretty much it. My first snorkeling experience was at Phi Phi island in Thailand which was mind blowing, so that is my reference. Disappointed because this was a snorkeling tour and it would have been great to see some fish. We sailed a bit afterwards and that was fun!

We had a great morning snorkeling and sailing on the Spirit of Aloha. Beautiful boat with a great crew. We saw lots of colorful fish and a turtle while snorkeling. The sailing was fantastic. Drinks and food were plentiful and tasty.

The crew were amazing, the vessel was meticulous! We did not see any dolphins 😞 The snorkeling experience was great. Snacks, sandwiches and drinks were perfect.

Great snorkel experience. The crew was wonderful. Swam with turtles and crew in water with us to guide what direction to go. Small group. Lunch was simple but appropriate. Drinks were included and crew made sure guest had everything we needed. I had been very disappointed in a snorkel experience on another island on same trip— overfilled boat more than was promised. I will definitely use Hawaii Nautical in future! Highly recommend.

Grandkids loved the whales and snorkeling with the turtles!! Weather was great and water was calm!! The drinks were great and so was the crew! Could do it all day long!

If your on Oahu and looking for a boat tour I highly recommend this company our family went with Dave and crew quin and Ian And saw tons of whales and dolphins one thing that stood out the most to me is how respectful and educated they were making sure every one understood boat safety and was able to teach our family a lot about the ocean I usually don’t review places on Google but this one was much deserving of one

Great staff. Very accommodating and knowledgeable. Captain Jack put everyone at ease w his humor. The actual snorkeling was great quality. A good variety of fish and coral/plant life. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and wanted to turn around and do it again.

Great snorkel tour - very convenient if you are staying in Waikoloa and don’t want to drive down to Kona. This group launches from the beach outside the Marriott. They took us north to Puako Bay, we snorkeled for about 45 -60 min, then a relaxing sail back. Captain Michael and crew Keith, Mike and Brandon were great. Lots of snacks and drinks available!

Crew and boat were great! A great way to get on the water and get a chance to snorkel further out than our hotel beach.

This is a great snorkel cruise for those traveling with kiddos. The crew was very patient and knowledgeable about where to snorkel so that you could see the diversity of the aquatic life living on the reef off the Kohala coast. We didn’t get to see any dolphins or turtles, but that was probably because we went on a morning sailing. One thing to keep in mind is, like all tours with kids, you are somewhat at the mercy of other people’s parenting style. On our sailing, there were 2 sets of free range kids, so the interjections and distractions were annoying and might have led to a little lost time snorkeling. But the crew did a great job handling the situation and did their best to make it enjoyable for those who do not take a laissez-faire approach to parenting.

Great experience. Wonderful scenery. Seeing an unexpected pod of dolphins was a treat for us all. Competent, friendly crew.

Very disappointing experience provided by a group that came across as pretty unprofessional. Boat was clean. No vegetarian wraps provided despite asking for dietary requirements. Dropped anchor by the coal power plant. No visibility in water. Saw no fish, saw no whales and saw no turtles. The diver went down and pulled up a sea cucumber for us to touch and we got to jump off the side of the boat. Meanwhile, staff were chasing each other around the deck and pushing each other off the boat. Snorkel masks were not checked and our son's didn't fit. All in all, a very expensive swim in the ocean. We paid for five members of our family to go on the excursion and were excited to snorkel , see fish turtles whales etc. Very disappointing waste of time

The crew was very punctual, friendly and knowledgable! We saw 19 different kinds of fish around the reef, the day was overcast and rainy but still fun!

Wonderful time,. Capt Michael was informative and entertaining … the deck crew (both Chelsea) made sure the passengers were taken care of …. The snorkeling was just average (not a whole lot to see other than small fish) The whale watching didn’t produce much to see. The lunch was pretty generic (pre-packaged sandwiches) But, overall, we had a good time !!!!

Excursion was on time and organized. Captain and Crew were professional, courteous, safety conscious, informative, and helpful. The snorkel was an ample length of time. You felt like you got to see several fish varieties and sea life. Snorkel gear was in working order, as were float vests. Lunch was good with plenty additional snacks. Lots of yummy drinks. Pre-order is you are vegetarian. Our meal was great. We saw whales. Mama and baby. Captain lingered for us a bit to watch longer. There was a lot of room on the catamaran for everyone. Definitely not bumping into people. Also plenty shade if needed. Heads were very clean. Beautiful boat trip.

Looking forward to this experience but as we were 5 minutes away from the beach we got a text that they canceled that days excursion: We asked for another day and they never even got back to us. Total disappointment.

The staff did not seem well prepared and did not know each other. The snorkeling spot was fine but it was like snorkeling 101 with lots of beginners and we all had to follow around in a group. It was an annoying experience.

The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. Sandwiches were good. We saw dolphins on our way to the snorkeling spot. My only suggestion is to take us to a more remote snorkeling location.

The service, captain’s jokes and views were spectacular. Saw many fish, coral and sea urchin. Watch dolphins race our boat.

One of the best snorkeling trips we’ve done in Hawaii! The reef was awesome with many species of beautiful fish. The water was a little rough, but the crew did an excellent job of keeping an eye on everyone. The boat was clean and the entire crew was fun and hospitable. Lunch was great after snorkeling, and they even accommodated my request for a vegan meal, which was much appreciated. We will book with them again!
