Turtle Town Sea Scooter Experience: Electric Jet Snorkel

We had so much swimming with the turtles on this trip. The scooters are a lot of fun. We had a small group so it was easier to talk to the guide and get insights about the area and the dive. I’d do this one again for sure

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Zephyr! The snorkeling was incredible, and we were lucky enough to see 6–7 huge sea turtles up close. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. A special shoutout to Joe, our guide. He was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and made the entire experience fun and stress-free. You could tell he genuinely wanted everyone to have the best experience possible. If you’re considering the water scooters, RENT THEM! They are totally worth it. Being able to get down in the water and get closer to the turtles made the experience even more incredible, especially for getting those unforgettable pictures with them. If you’re visiting the area and looking for a snorkeling adventure, I highly recommend Zephyr. Great crew, great guide, and an incredible experience that we’ll remember for a long time!

Talk about an unbelievable experience and an unbelievable tour guide, Joe. We had an amazing time. It was hard to overcome the fear of getting in the water but Joe was patient and calm and helped us along. He was simply amazing. He looked out for us and encouraged us. Really making this experience unforgettable. We got to hold some sea creatures and got up close to a few turtles. Never felt rushed and truly an amazing experience in great part to our tour guide. We would highly recommend this to all the tourist in Maui. Even if you cannot swim it’s no big deal. It’s chill and a total vibe with the ocean. I have snorkeled elsewhere including Aruba and Turks but this was a small group, felt very safe, and have never been so up close to huge turtles before! ThankS to Joe and thank you Zephyr for ending our trip with such an unforgettable time. Mahalo! 🤙🏽

Robbie and the team really made sure to communicate with us regarding the meeting place the day prior. The day of tour we met with Robbie, he handed out all equipment, clearly explained what to do and mentioned his expectations for safety while in the ocean. The water was a little choppy which had me nervous. I pretty much spent a great majority of time close to his safety board along with 3 others but he made sure to calm us all, got us to breathe correctly thru the snorkel and then got us involved with activities. His strength along with his swimming abilities is pretty remarkable as he towed the board with equipment and some people attached. His ability to keep everyone in his view while diving for sea creatures and having us interact was great. Although my nerves got the best of me initially, midway thru and the return trip I felt a lot more comfortable. On the other hand, my daughter had a blast with the scooter and completely enjoyed the trip!! Robbie-thanks so much for your patience-your abilities are truly remarkable! Glad I had Robbie as a guide for this first-time-ever snorkeling adventure. Thanks again!!!

Amazing instructor, incredible fun, e-scooter is a life saver. We saw 3 big sea turtles and many starfish and various fish.

We had an awesome time!!!! Joe was our guide and he was super friendly and helpful and professional even to us complete beginners!!!! We got to snorkel real close to and get pictures with sea turtles and other sea life, it was an unreal experience and we can't thank Zephyr Maui enough!!!!

Joe was An amazing tour guide! He caught sea urchins and octopuses for us, he helped us with our masks and was very patient with my little kids. Highly recommend requesting him as your tour guide! The pics and videos he took were also perfect!

We got to see various marine life which was beautiful. However, I would recommend the following: -Increase the ratio of guides to guests. There was only 1 guide in the ocean with a large group of about 7-8 guests. The two other ?guides stayed in the van and drove off while we were in the ocean because commercial vans are not allowed to park on site. Would highly recommend increasing the number of guides to at least 2 per group so that there is a guide at the back at all times to help those that were having a little bit of a harder time swimming in the ocean. Especially as this is a tour for guests with all types of experience levels (beginner to advanced). -Recommend the guide bring some extra life jackets for guests that may have over-estimated their swimming abilities and declined life jackets before getting into the ocean as you can get easily fatigued if you’re not used to swimming in the ocean

Had a fantastic time with Joe and Mr. Alec. This was our family’s first time snorkeling. Joe & Mr. Alec were very patient and helpful and thoroughly explained the plan so that everyone was aware and could complete the dive safely and have a great time doing it. And that is exactly what happened: we went to a spot that was teeming with underwater life and both Joe and Mr. Alec took the time to explain the marine life we were seeing. Even a surprise visit from a white tip shark didn’t rattle them. They made sure our group and the wildlife were safe and comfortable. Everything was awesome, and they sent us a ton of pictures and videos, being sure each member of our party was in them. It was a great way to end our trip here on Maui. 10/10 highly recommend!!

WOW!! So much fun!! Robbie was a great guide! We saw turtles, all kinds of fish, and the E-scooters were so easy and fun to use. Made the 1/4 mile swim out to the turtle area smooth and fast! Robbie was great with my husband who needed a little extra help!! 100% recommend!

Unless you are a great swimmer, get a life vest. Makes it so much easier and more enjoyable. We also enjoyed the propellers.

John was very good. Pictures and video he took were also very good. Recommend they urge people to take life jackets and/or carry some extras on the boogie board as some on our tour struggled. Also need to tell how not to hold the scooter handle because it can cause a leak and stop working.

Joe was super understanding and fun. He was able to give us great information on the sea life and education on how to snorkel safely. We saw lots of turtles, been to Hawaii 4 times and best experience ever!

We absolutely had the best adventure ever with our guide Joe. He went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and have the best experience ever. Complete with finding an octopus for us he showed us the best time ever while keeping us safe and entertained. Highly recommend it!

Out of all the times I've snorkeled, my best time was with Joe! Skip all those boat tours that let you go on your own for an hour and book with Zephyr! Joe went out of his way to spot things for us and brought it to us to see and touch n bonus for pictures! We saw turtles, a reef shark, fishes and was even able to hold an octopus!

Disappointing customer service. We booked 6 people for this trip specifically for the e-scooter portion. Otherwise, it’s very easy to rent or bring your own snorkel equipment and find great places to snorkel. When we got there, only 2 of the e-scooters were working (and one of them broke during our tour). The guide told us “well they were supposed to call you last night to tell you but I guess they didn’t.” The snorkeling experience itself went fine, but the price is certainly not worth it without the e-scooters, and they didn’t even have the courtesy of telling us ahead of time that the scooters weren’t functional. The guide actually told us that they were considering getting rid of the scooters all together because of how problematic they were. Yet they were happy to take our money (>$800). Afterwards, I reached out to the manager to get a partial refund. There was some phone tag and several texts that were not responded to. After 3 months, I had contacted Viator twice and was only given an insignificant refund. Overall, incredibly disappointing. There are many great snorkel locations that you can either guide yourself or find another company that is more reliable and customer-considerate. I do not recommend this tour.

Shelby was very knowledgeable and helpful. I learned how to use the scooter to dive down while snorkeling. The scooter was a lot of fun.

It was a great experience for teens and for us as parents too. We can highly recomended!!! E-scooter is easy to ride. It was cool!

Joe was super awesome! He made sure we got the full experience. One person in our party was not comfortable using the jet, but he ensured she was able to participate by pulling her along by his board. He even put his skills to the test and we saw a beautiful octopus. One of the coolest snorkling trips, thanks Joe!

I had a scooter snorkel tour with Rachel at Turtle Town. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about diving and the ecosystem we were visiting. We saw tons of sea life and multiple turtles. Rachel took lots of pictures to document the experience. I highly recommend this company. It was a fun once in a lifetime experience. The scooters were super fun too!

Shelby, was sooooo nice, knowledgeable, and thorough to her approach to the entire event. She knows how to show guests a great time while always ensuring our safety. Believe me, she is very patient. We saw turtles and stunning fish, including eels. While I was a little nervous about the e-scooter, once I got the hang of it, it was great! Thanks to Seth too for surprising us with an unincluded warm chocolate chip cookie.

We had Joe as our guide. He was amazing! It was a very personal experience and he took some great shots of us in and out of the water. We did another snorkeling trip with a bigger group and this was by far a better experience. He found sea creatures for us to look at and was right there with us if we had any questions about anything. It was a great experience and I highly recommend!

Highly recommend E-scooter snorkeling with Joe. He provides a very thorough orientation to ensure you are comfortable with the equipment. With a small group you will learn about the sea life and having a guide with you ensures you are able to explore the prime locations. I have snorkeled with large groups before and this was far superior. You will not be disappointed with this excursion!

Rachel our tour guide was excellent she was patient with all of us beginners, she got us ready and we went up the coast line at turtle town, we had the e scooters which made easy on our legs and fun on the return back after seeing all kinds of beautiful fish and a green sea turtle we turned up speed on e scooter and really had some fun. After 10 minutes we were all like comfortable with them. Awesome experience I would recommend this anyone visiting Maui. Thanks Rachel she was best.

Joe was an amazing PERSON! He made sure my mostly female family party of 6 was always in sight while finding turtles, octopi, sea urchins, sea stars and other interesting ocean life to point out to us. A turtle swam right under us! Thank goodness he filmed it because we would’ve never known!!!

Joe was amazing. No where else do you get such personalized attention. He was very patient with inexperienced snorkelers, while the more experienced snorkelers were able to really explore on their own. The E-scooters made it easy to explore and even dive down to get up close and personal with the sea life. Highly recommend this for all ability levels. And make sure to purchase the pictures, Joe takes excellent pictures and videos.

Amazing experience!! This was my first time snorkeling so I was scared at first, but man was it worth it. Our guide Joe did a great job making it a fun and memorable experience for all. He did a great job of pointing out different wild life such as sea stars, turtles, sea urchins, lots of fish and coral and even an octopus! 10/10 would recommend!

In our trips to Maui we have done many activities with our teenage boys (surfing, whale watching, zip lining, snorkel tours,etc.). The e-scooter tour with Zephyr has been hands down the best one! Joe was an amazing guide and went out of his way to personalize the adventure. Holding a baby octopus was a one of a kind experience as well as swimming with multiple turtles, star fish, and we got lucky and saw a white tip shark. The jets were a bonus to the trip that the boys loved. Thanks Joe for the memories! Oh and the pics are AMAZING.

Using the Escooter was amazing and a lot of fun! I was very disappointed in the photo package. 1) Too expensive 2) Doesn't support Android users. The snorkel/ free dive experience was shorter than expected. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable though which made the experience pretty awesome.

What a fantastic adventure! The Scooters made swimming effortless and fun. We were able to get within just a few feet of the beautiful sea turtles and they didn't seem to mind swimming with us at all. Joe, our tour guide was amazing. He didn't just get us to where the turtle cave was and leave us like some tour operators do. Instead, he swam with us the whole time and took videos and still pictures. He dove down and brought up colorful urchins for us to hold and tried to find an octopus, but they were too shy. On the way back to shore, we even saw a spotted eagle ray, which is apparently a rare experience. It also swam with us for quite a while. So cool. Our group was small...just 4 of us, which made the experience even better. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND ZEPHYR TOURS and this experience on Maui. Be sure to ask for Joe to be your guide. You won't be disappointed.
