The Maui Butterfly Farm Tour

This was such an amazing experience! We got to hold caterpillars, praying mantis, and butterflies! We learned all about the butterfly’s stages of metamorphosis. Such a beautiful immersive experience I will do it again on my next visit! Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with our guide Laura, who was able to answer any questions we had. It's clear that she enjoys her work. The group size is kept small so that everyone can participate in handling the caterpillars, butterflies and mantises. This was so different from other monarch butterfly tours we have done where you're looking at the monarchs way up there in the trees...this was up close, and being able to touch them was a marvel. We had one child on the tour, about 5 years old, and he was very good with handling the butterflies gently as he was shown. The one hour tour went by in a blink and we are happy we did this!

Amazing experience! My partner and I went to have a relaxing time hanging out with butterflies and we had so much fun! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and super funny. We were able to hold butterflies to take photos and watch them enter their chrysalis (not cocoon! I learned that on the tour lol) There are also petroglyphs nearby as well as a great restaurant for lunch. I would call this a must visit for anyone in Maui!

This is a great experience to learn more about butterflies, you get to feed butterflies by hand too!

This tour starts with kindness from the tour guides and you holding a caterpillar. Then they take you into two butterfly areas where you dip your hand in sugar water from fruit as the butterflies swarm to feed off your finger. If you never truly had a butterfly touch you; this is the place to go for that experience. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Unique experience to be up close to the butterflies. Knowledgeable guide. Wear closed toe shoes on the uneven ground.

Magical. Even my husband who wasn’t thrilled about going commented on how wonderful it was and that he was glad we went. Our guide was very knowledgeable and courteous.

Mostly good, very limited selection of butterflies though. Only saw 2-3 different species. Price is high for the experience.

Love this place! This was our third time visiting. The owners are great and know their butterflies. Small tours of up to 12 people. Lots of great hands on experience with butterflies, caterpillars, and praying mantises. We’ll be back!

The ladies at the butterfly farm are so passionate and knowledgeable about butterflies. It was an absolute pleasure to hold a caterpillar and hand feed butterflies. 10/10 recommend.

Very interactive you get to hold caterpillars and then butterflies will land on your fingers and another kind will land on flowers you hold Also they have praying mantis The guide was very informative and helpful to a couple with mobility issues Lots on interesting facts

This was such a fun experience. We got to hold the caterpillars as they pooped in our hands, feed the butterflies, and watch the praying mantis jump & dance. I’m glad I chose this experience for our family.

This is a must try experience. It was very fun not for little little kids. I’ll definitely do it again when I’m in Maui.

Much more fun than I thought it would be. You get to handle caterpillars, several species of butterflies, and preying mantises - not something you get to do every day! Lots of conservative talk, which is to be expected. Butterflies are not released, so that was a little strange to me. It's purely an eco tour. Worth what we paid for it to get some fun pictures.

Quaint, local, educational experience that we have only experienced in Maui! It’s about an hour long and we held and learned about different caterpillars and then held and learned about different butterflies. Have your camera ready because they will sit on your finger! The guides are kind and knowledgeable. My 11-year-old daughter and I enjoyed this. There was a young child on our tour (about 4 years old) and he did fine as his parents really helped him stay calm.

Kathryn was very cheerful and knowledgeable about her butterflies. Our 8 year old granddaughter absolutely loved having butterflies light on her fingers as did the rest of our group. It is well worth your time and then go Nextdoor for lunch!

Such a fun experience! You actually get to go in with butterflies and hang out, and have them on your hand. The tour guide (Reema) was super inviting and informative. I knew a general baseline of butterflies but it was fun to go a little deeper- but not too in depth, the overall vibe was relaxed and fun. This was a perfect little afternoon activity. We wanted to also hit the snorkeling tours, I did a helicopter tour, etc., but you need some easy outings too. For families, adults, anyone- I highly recommend! The restaurant next door is also DELICIOUS : )

Adorable! The tour is about 45 minutes. The butterfly farm is a must especially if you have kids. The experience was so worth it!

Went with my husband and 2 year old. We weren’t sure she’d enjoy it but she totally did, as did we! This was such a fun family activity! Our guide was so knowledgeable and so friendly! She made sure all got to touch and hold the butterflies and caterpillars. Bonus we got to watch the chrysalis form right before our eyes!! Cannot recommend this activity enough. Tiny little farm with big charm. Would absolutely do it again on our next trip! Thanks for making our last day on Maui a memorable one❤️

This butterfly farm tour was amazing! When we arrived we were greeted and educated on what the tour would encompass. The tour guide truly educated all of us about the butterflies native and living on Maui. We were able to handle and hold monarch caterpillars and then thought how to attract the butterflies to our hands in the enclosures. Everyone in our group was able to get a butterfly to feed on their hand. We learned a lot and had a wonderful time.

This visit was very education and fun. Small groups see the caterpillars, amd then walk through Butterfly and praying mantis enclosures. Good location from Lahaina & smoothies, farmers market, Leoda’s right there. We love it, Mahalo!

Our visit to the Maui Butterfly Farm was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Jeff made us feel welcome and provided us with an experience, not just a tour. His passion, knowledge, and genuine kindness created a special atmosphere. The highlight of our visit was seeing our 7 year old completely captivated. Jeff has a special way of getting everyone in the group involved. We were able to hold caterpillars, butterflies and praying mantis and my daughter wasn’t scared at all. We learned what they like to eat, how they came to the island, how to get a butterfly to land on you, the life cycle, and so much more! Because of this special experience, our family is now raising butterflies at home to release. This never would have happened if we hadn’t met Jeff and had the privilege of learning about these amazing creatures. Jeff, thank you!!! We look forward to visiting you again.

This was a really fun and interactive experience for ages. We had a 3 and 8 year old who enjoyed it all. The guides were so kind and informative! We really had an amazing time. Highly recommended this

Our visit to a small butterfly farm in Maui turned out to be one of the most charming and memorable experiences of our trip. I brought my two granddaughters. The highlight, without a doubt, was when the butterflies gently landed on the flowers and then on the girls themselves. My oldest granddaughter absolutely loved it. You could see the excitement in her eyes as she held the flowers and watched the butterflies flutter all around her. It was one of those moments you wish you could freeze in time. The presentation was wonderful informative, engaging, and easy for all ages to understand. The woman leading it was especially knowledgeable and had such a natural way with children. That truly made a difference. At one point, my youngest granddaughter was having a little bit of a hard time, but the presenter handled it with such kindness and patience. She made her feel comfortable and included, which meant so much to me as a grandmother. This wasn’t a flashy or extravagant excursion it was something better. It was peaceful, personal, and full of heart. A beautiful reminder that sometimes the simplest experiences create the most meaningful memories.
