Natalie was fabulous! She was a great coach, so knowledgeable and encouraging…my daughter and I loved our surfing experience with her. We look forward to surfing with her again!

Came back a second time for a group surf lesson prior to leaving Maui. The weather was not the most cooperative but Maui Surface Girls was very reasonable with their accommodations and allowed me attend part of 2 separate classes to make up for lost time. Even though I was booked as part of a group, Jedi took time to get me up on a couple of waves while the rest of the class finished their lesson. He also swam out to pull me into a shallower area after I drifted out deeper than I attended. Mario the photographer captured some great shots! Surfing was definitely a highlight of my Maui trip, thanks again Maui Surfer Girls!

My daughter (23) and I (52) wanted to attempt to surf. We were first timers and had some goals for surfing. With our instructor, Sloane, we accomplished our goals!! The team of instructors was very encouraging, enthusiastic and gave great tips for improving after each attempt. I would highly recommend Maui Surfer Girls - and lucky you if you get Sloane!

Had an awesome morning taking my first surf lesson with my wife. Our instructor, Andrew, did a fantastic job at explaining everything, guiding us through the steps and keeping it fun and interesting. It was an experience better than we imagined and we look forward to trying it again.

Andrew and Paisley were amazing instructors. Our kids (13 and 11 yo) had a blast and under the guidance were able to ride almost immediately. They instantly asked to surf again the next day. The on beach experience was quick, but informative, and we got in the water with the info we needed very fast (extremely important with the kids!). Would recommend this to anyone looking to catch a few waves.

Highly recommend this for families - we did a lesson with our daughters aged 8 and 9 and we all absolutely loved it. We had 3 instructors and all were brilliant - kids were surfing together in a party in no time

Maui Surfer Girls is exceptional! My daughters took a semi-private lesson with Megan, and had THE BEST time! They felt so safe and comfortable and ended the lesson wanting to know when we are going surfing again : ) I was so happy that they could have this opportunity to learn some surfing basics with an awesome female surfer. HIGHLY recommend!!

Maui Surfer Girls was fantastic! Our instructors Dan, Megan, and Maggie did a terrific job making sure each member of our family felt confident and everyone was able to surf, even our youngest who had some trepidation! Megan did a great job working with him while Maggie and Dan kept our family of five busy catching waves, while providing top notch instruction. I highly recommend Maui Surfer Girls!

This local group is great! Natalie and Paisley were knowledge and patient with out newbie kids (22 - 12) You start with lessons on how to suffer but also surfer edict. Then hit the water amd have fun! All of my kids had successfully surfs. They also have a professional photographer on hand. You can purchase the digital pictures if desired.

AMAZING company! Highly recommend if you’re looking to learn how surf on your trip to Maui! They have great customer service and communication, provide you with all the information you need for the lesson, and at the lesson spend time explaining everything and giving lots of helpful tips (which made me way less nervous). In the water they create a supportive environment and cheer you on for every wave. You can tell every instructor is truly passionate about surfing and eager to teach. We had Steve as our instructor and he was great! Very knowledgeable, helpful, supportive and just a funny, chill guy! The other instructors in our group also seemed super good, so I think no matter who you get- you’re in good hands. They provide proper fitting rash guards, shoes and boards as well. The company also has a photographer that takes photos of you during the lesson. They are a little pricey to buy, but a good quality and a good memory to have:) Overall was an amazing experience and cant recommended highly enough, I was pretty nervous going in, but I ended up loving it! For context: I (18) went with my dad (54), both us had never surfed before and we both stood up and caught multiple waves! It was $206 for the lesson, which was a 4:1 ratio and semi-private (it still felt very personal and attentive though) and the photo package for two surfers was about $115 (both not including tip). Worth the money in my our opinions and it sets you up with surfing skills you can use in the future!

Jedi and Dan were amazing teachers. The location was easy to find and had PortaPotties available that were in good shape. The location was fairly private, as advertised, and the waves were manageable for brand new surfers. The length of the session was more than enough for us - we were exhausted afterwards. We each got a handful of good rides. We were happy with the price and made sure to include a solid tip for each of us.

Very organized. Jedi was an amazing instructor. He was so encouraging, even when we “dismounted” the board. Great experience!!!!!!!!

Very nice experience, with our teacher Jedi. First time surfing for us, very helpful and patient. And the view was perfect on the mountain!

My son and I went for surfing lessons during our stay on Maui and opted for Maui Surfer Girls. We had a fantastic time as the location was easy to access and the instructor (Jedi) was a patient mentor for two beginners. We were both able to get up on the board a few times to ride waves in to the beach by the end of the lesson. On top of that, the photographer (Mario) documented everything with high resolution photos and we ended up buying the complete package to share with friends and family. If we ever come back we would definitely get a follow up lesson with the Maui Surfer Girls team - mahalo!

My lesson with Jedi was stellar. He was patient and encouraging with us and the vibe was chill. He found excellent waves for me and kept our energy high. Absolutely recommend Maui Surfer Girls!

Amazing 2 days of lessons for myself and 2 kids (ages 8 and 11). All the instructors (Natalie, Andrew, Jedi) were awesome and both days of lessons were perfect. Special shout out to Jedi for really engaging my 8 yo son, they even had a dance contest at the end! So fun.

Had an amazing time out in the waves with Maui Surfer Girls! It was my very first time out on a surf board and I would highly recommend if you’ve been wanting to give surfing a try! Our instructor, Andrew Goldberg, was super patient with me and extremely knowledgeable. He gave great instructions and had me up on the board super quick! I felt safe the entire time which was great as I was a bit nervous when we first arrived. Andrew was so supportive and made sure we had a great experience out in the water, I highly recommend booking a lesson. It was an incredible time that I’ll never forget!!

Very professional group. Very detailed instructions provided. Met them with ease and was out surfing in no time. My surfing guide Sloan was really fun and energetic. She gave me a bunch of great tips. I must’ve caught more than 20 waves in a two hour session. The conditions were perfect. When I’m back in Maui, I will without a doubt use this company again. I highly recommend them!

My husband and I took a semi-private lesson with Jedi. He was awesome! He sensed that I needed more help and assisted me in getting out to catch several waves. With my husband, he gave coaching on timing and technique. We were so happy to have spent some hours with such a patient, FUN, and kind instructor who embodied the aloha spirit.

Maggie was a wonderful instructor, patient and knowledgable! My experience with Maui Surfer Girls was incredible. The spot was gorgeous, with the mountain on one side of the beach, and Lanai and Kaho'olawe in the horizon on the ocean side. If you're nervous about your class, don't worry. You're going to have the time of your life!

We had the best experience with Maui Surfer Girls. Registration was simple and organized- everything was very smooth. We had clear instructions and directions and it wasn’t stressful in any way. Our instructor was Andrew Goldberg and he was so fabulous- he taught my husband, 11-yo son, and me, and was so gracious, patient, and helpful. I was impressed with his ability to connect with my hesitant son and coax him out to surf- all three of us were able to successfully do it. My other son, being younger, had a private lesson with Jedi and the two of them absolutely hit it off. My son popped up immediately and ran circles around the rest of us, certainly a testament to Jedi’s teaching and the value of private instruction. Jedi was fun and encouraging and enthusiastic. Thanks for giving Max such a wonderful experience for his birthday. Highly recommend this group from start to finish!

I couldn't say better things about my experience surfing with Maui Surfer Girls. I was with Sloane and she was an excellent coach. We started by learning the basics on the sand, which was super helpful, then we were in the water for a little over 90 minutes. The waves at Ukumehame were great for a beginner like me, and the weather was beautiful. Sloane was super patient, great at finding the right waves, physically very helpful in "towing" me out (putting her foot on the toe of my board and then paddling out) when my arms got tired from paddling, and giving me a push off into some of the waves. She is a wonderful and natural teacher. I thought the cost was great for a small group, two-hour lesson. Parking was free and easy right off the highway. My family came too and were able to play on the beach and watch me--just note that there isn't a ton of shade at this beach. MSG provides boards, booties (it's a coral bottom), and rash guards (if you don't have your own). There was also a photographer at the site--Jungle Rootz Hawaii--who took nice pictures of the session that you could buy after. If you are looking to learn how to surf, I truly couldn't recommend Maui Surfer Girls, and Sloane, more! Do it!

I highly recommend Maui Surfer Girls. We took a lesson with Kelly here 10 years ago, and it was really fun. We finally had a chance to return to Maui and this year we had a fantastic beginner lesson with Jedi for two of us (age >65!) and our 29 year old son. The lesson was the perfect combination of technical instruction appropriate for each of us, encouragement, and appreciation for the incredible natural environment of Maui. I was nervous that I would not be able to get up at all but thanks to Jedi's instructions that were customized for each of us, we all caught some waves and it was so gratifying.

My fiancée and I both enjoyed Maui Surfer Girls and the instructors. Jedi was our instructor and he was very informative, positive, and patient. He always tried to get us the best wave and make sure we were rested. Your neck and shoulders will get a big workout. The weather was perfect for the afternoon and we had no real complaints. Make sure you wear long pants and not just shorts, or the board will probably irritate the skin on your inner thighs. Also, MAKE SURE you put sunscreen on the back of your legs because they’re pointed up at the sun being on the board. Overall, it was a good experience and I’d recommend Maui Surfer Girls to anyone wanting to try surfing.

My boyfriend and I did a surf lesson with Maggie, and it was great! We're from Florida, and I had taken a couple lessons before, but this lesson was more informative than any I'd done in the past. I managed to get up 2 out of 3 tries. Previously, I'd only managed to stand once across multiple lessons I'd taken. This lesson will really set you up for success.

We had the BEST time with Maui Surfer Girls today! 🌊 From the moment we arrived, the whole experience was welcoming and so much fun. Our instructor, Maggie, was an absolute rockstar — she made safety super clear and easy to understand, and then broke down the techniques in a way that was simple and encouraging. My husband got up on his board every single time, and I was able to get up too thanks to her guidance (and a lot of cheering on!). The whole vibe was positive, supportive, and filled with laughs, exactly what you’d hope for on a Maui adventure. If you’re even thinking about trying surfing, do it with Maui Surfer Girls, and if you can, ask for Maggie. She’s patient, knowledgeable, and seriously the best hype woman out there. We’ll remember this experience forever!

Jedi was a great instructor. It was my first time surfing and we had a mini beach lesson to go over basics and to teach us how to be safe out in the water. Everyone in my group was able to get up and ride the waves! I would DEF recommend wearing leggings to the lesson because the back of your legs can be irritated by the boards. I feel like you really get a lot out of the lesson and makes you a lot more confident in the water.

MY SON AND I HAD A GROUP LESSON FROM ANDREW. HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, SKILLED, PATENT, AND KIND. WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE LESSON AND NOTED HOW THEY KEPT THE STUDENTS SAFE DURING SESSIONS. ALL OF THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WE BOTH LEARNED TO STAND ON THE BOARD AND SURF IN. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING LEARNING HOW TO SURF IN MAUI , I HIGHLY SURFER GIRLS.

My wife and I had an amazing experience with MSG. Our coach, Rick, met us where our abilities were, and tailored the experience. He was fun and informative, pushing us in the right ways to improve our understanding and tactics to surf. Our family who have never surfed joined Jedidiah White for surfing lesson. The entire experience was excellent. Well organized, lots of additional team members around and clear training. Our instructor made us feel calm, safe and confident all at the same time. He was patient and encouraging. The lesson exceeded my expectations and I have a new level of respect for surfers. I would highly recommend this company.

Quite possibly the best day of my life as a dad - my family and I descended Haleakala after sunrise to the beautiful Ukumehame Beach for a surf lesson. My daughter learned more about the ocean in one hour with Gina then I taught her in 7 years. She felt safe and was catching smooth waves in a short time. There was even a little time left for me to experience the power of the ocean myself. We’re working on a way to return soon b/c this is the only thing my daughter asked to do again after a week in Maui.

It was our first trip to Maui and our two boys, 20 and 16, wanted to learn to surf. Heard about Maui Surfer Girls through a Facebook Maui forum where they came highly recommended, so I booked a semi-private lesson for the both of them. The day of the lesson they texted us a change of location (weather was not great at the original location) with precise instructions on how to get there. We had no problems finding it - all around the communication was great. The instructor the boys had was Rick, and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. The first 45 minutes or so were spent on land training - he reviewed water safety with them and the mechanics of surfing. Once they got on the water he spent over an hour with them. My 20 year old got up on his first try and my 16 year old on his second - and they got up many more times as they chased the incoming waves (they weren't huge waves - it was a great beach choice for smaller waves for their first time). I could hear Rick cheering them on every time they got up. Both boys had a blast and Maui Surfer Girls has a photographer on hand to capture it all for you. The whole experience was a 10/10 we would highly recommend MSG and Rick!

Gina was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and patient. I didn’t have high hopes that I would learn how to surf, but I got up on my first try! We had so much fun :)

First time surfing and it was super fun. Kelly was outstanding, working with adults and teenagers. She gave very clear instructions, everyone felt very comfortable, and we were all successfully surfing almost immediately. I would highly recommend.

Rick was our instructor. He was excellent! This is our 2nd time surfing with MSGs and we will ONLY use them! They are the best!!

Maggie Venters was my instructor, semi-private. She really knows her stuff. I got up and rode the wave. (I did fall off a few times.). 😄 Totally fun.
