Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Learn to SUP stand-up paddle board on Maui. Our experienced surf coaches, perfect conditions, and Semi-private lesson will have you up and paddling in no time. This class is great for people who have experience in paddling or a total beginner. *The Semi-private is only available for your family and friends. *We do not put semi-private groups together.
PLEASE BE PREPARED: Please arrive well rested, and be sure to hydrate and drink plenty of water before your session.
CHECK-IN at Kalama Beach Park at our Surf Club Maui van, we will outfit you with reef shoes and a rash guard surf shirt. We start with a lesson in the park to go over the safety rules and theory of SUP Standup Paddle Boarding. Then our instructors take you out on the water.
*NOTE: All students must be able to swim in the ocean, if you show up for the class and can not swim or are not comfortable in deep water, the lesson will be canceled and no-refunds will be given.
**WAIVER: We will send you a link to the Online Waiver form, please sign this before your lesson.
***Please bring some cash for a Gratuity (tip) for your instructor.

OMG this was one of the BEST activities I have ever done! My daughter and I were first time paddle boarders. Our instructor Bryan was AWESOME. He was patient, helpful and full of great stories! He also helped us feel very safe and let us try things at our own comfort level. While we were out we saw turtles and spinner dolphins! One of the other team there came out and took a bunch of pictures of use out on the water. They were great and we bought them all! Such an epic adventure - we are already planning our next experience with Bryan and Surf Club Maui!

Turtle was a great instructor. Our semi-private lesson ended up being our family of 3 and he helped each of us individually and checked in with us regularly. None of us had ever done this before and it was a good experience.
We switched to surfing instead of SUP,
I am glad we did, David was awesome and we all had a really great time learning to surf. Great spot for beginners, would definitely do this again.

Aug 14, 2021, 12:57:10 AM If you're looking for an ocean adventure with mild to medium exertion, look no further than a SUP class with Surf Club Maui! I've SUP'd before in freshwater lakes, but never the ocean, so I opted for a class to learn to watch the wave conditions and know the local unwritten rules (e.g. don't paddle in the locals-only area). Kimmy was a phenomenal instructor - lots of direct instruction paired with fun humor and honu (Hawaiian green sea turtle) knowledge. Our group of four (three students and Kimmy the instructor) paddled out to the reef, looked for turtles, and got a great view of the West Maui mountains and Haleakala on the glittering Pacific Ocean. They provide rashguards and booties; bring your sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and get ready to stand up (or sit down) and enjoy a morning of paddling on the ocean! Photos are available for purchase so leave your phone. Lots of restaurants or coffee shops across the street for breakfast. The Saturday market is walking distance away and provides fresh produce and coconuts. What are you waiting for?

My husband and I did a semi-private lesson and it ended up being just us. It was an amazing exp! David was so helpful and really based the lesson on our comfort level. We were able to catch our first wave! I can say, we are hooked and can't wait to surf again!

Our first time trying this incredible activity. We finally got the lessons scheduled through Surf Club Maui. Kimmie was such a patient, caring instructor. She wasn't at all pushy, waited for each student to take the next step. She looked like she enjoyed being there as much as we did. She really made the whole experience so enjoyable for us. Lily provided a lot of emotional support while taking pictures of our lessons. The company provided everything we needed, board, shirt & shoes. The picture package was an extra fee, but just a bit more, and provided an excellent source for proof of our experience.

My husband and I had a great time learning how to stand up paddle board. The best thing about this company, once your lesson is over you can rent the equipment to go out on your own. The instructors were friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful area to learn SUP. The water is clear and we saw a lot of turtles.
My favorite excursion for the entire trip! Wife and I did the paddle board lesson (our first time). The instructor did a great a job! Staff was awesome. I wish they sold rash guards with their cool logo on it on it ;)

We saw manta rays!!! It was so cool!!! My dad had a little trouble standing up on the board as he is in his 60s, but we all loved it!!
We ended up having a private class with Mike. He was very helpful and super patient with us. The weather was perfect. We had a great time.
Signed up the SUP lesson and didn't regret it. It was fun and good experience. The instructor, Christian, was totally awesome. She was patient and shared good tips, making SUP easy. We saw several sea turtles! Highly recommended.
