Itinerary
The SUP board is a large surfboard and riders paddle it with a long, lightweight single-bladed paddle. The recent popularity of SUP is a result of celebrities, along with athletes, who have taken up the sport for cross training and to increase core strength. The sport offers great fun and the learning curve is simple. During your lesson you will enjoy a paddle on Maui's south shore beautiful coastline as your instructor provides instruction on: * safety and ocean awareness * water entry and balance * proper stance and positioning on the board * proper paddling technique

For those with previous experience basic wave riding techinques can be included in the lesson

The instructor was awesome. He was very patient with our grandkids. We all felt very safe. He gave detailed instructions before e went in the water as well as the entire time. He kept our group of six together and took great pics. Seems like a super nice guy and a great photographer! Absolutely would recommend!! 5 ⭐️ Stars

His first time paddle borders we didn’t really know what to expect but Rick made everything so much easier and took care to work with us patiently while we all got up on our boards.

Brandon, our instructor, was very patient with us. He gave lots of tips on how to get up on the board and enjoy our time in the water. Knowledgeable about the islands and paddle boarding.

Our instructor wasn't much of instructing. More of pushing the board to get you going. At least kids had fun, but if you really want to learn, maybe start with the beginning lesson; however, considering their so-so attitude, I suppose, maybe not the best choice either. We went August 2019. Maybe things are better now? Schools to the south of Kalama park have better water real estate with better breaks so I would consider them instead.

Overall it was a good experience, but it took most of the first hour before we even got into the water. We understand learning the basics on land but the other stuff became frustrating. After we got on the board we learn and enjoyed our selves.

We had an amazing time first time paddle boarding. Our instructor was Church the Dog and his master. Church rode on our board and also was a great wave rider. We had the best time and will come back again.

Ashley was my SUP instructor and she was amazing and very encouraging. I had an amazing time. Shane was in the shop and booked my lesson and very helpful and I had a great experience I highly recommend the team at the Surf Shack at the Mona Kai resort. Mahalo

My family and I had a great time with our instructor James. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great tips for paddle boarding and the surrounding sea life. We would definitely recommend this activity. There was an error with our reservation (not Surf Shack’s fault) and James came in on his day off for our lessons. He was just wonderful! They made what could have been a bad experience into a fantastic experience!
