This was a solo tour for me, and Rebecca accommodated my requests. But even she couldn't summon Pele. But she was so kind to text me the next time Pele had an episode so I could see it. What a wonderful person and guide. It was a great tour and she even provided turtle viewing at black sands beach and wild pigs begging beside the road. She took into account my age and walking abilities, I couldn't appreciate her more.

If you take this tour request Rebecca it was a rainy foggy day and we could not see volcano she took us back and forth there 2xs just to ensure that we would see it, we were ready to give up and she said no the fog will clear I don’t want you to miss it! She took us there, to a winery then to black sand beach and back again, it was still foggy and rainy and we were ready to leave but had dinner at the Rim Resturant at her insistence, which was excellent, still rainy and foggy after dinner she said let’s try one more time and we went back to the viewing point and low and behold the fog cleared and we were able to see the glow of the volcano!!! The point I am making is despite the fact that we were out all day and into the night and we were all exhausted she could have said we tried let’s go back and she didn’t. She is the best!!!!
Rebecca was a wonderful tour guide. She contacted us a week ahead of the tour to make sure we were in synch on schedule, pick-up location, expected places to visit, and when we needed to be back to the ship. She was friendly, very informative on Hawaiian history and culture, and extremely flexible to ensure we saw the things we wanted to see. She is the best Viator tour guide we've ever had. We highly recommend her.
Rebecca picked us up from Port of Hilo. Rebeccas communication prior to our tour was fantastic, she picked us up on time. We started the day at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - home to Mauna Loa and Kilauea where the goddess Pele lives. After a quick coffee stop, we went to the Thurston Lava Tube, which is surrounded by stunning rainforest. The path takes you right through the tube, and out the other side, in a loop. We then headed to the district of Ku'a, which was severely affected by hurricane Lala last month, we had lunch at a lovely restaurant. Our tour guide Rebecca was keeping an eye on the live Kilauea feed, while we had lunch, as Kilauea was building up for an imminent eruption and the smoke was showing signs of an orange glow! So back to Kilauea we headed. We waited and watched for nearly an hour - the smoke was getting thicker and was coming from lots more vents, we could have stayed there for hours just watching but we had to leave to get back to the ship. Rebecca was very professional and knowledgeable, we had a fantastic day, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and felt like we were touring with a friend, that is how relaxed we felt. Thank you Rebecca for making our day wonderful.
Rebecca was amazing! Kind, flexible, and accommodating to any group or limitations you have! She called within minutes of me booking just to go over every detail and reassure me of the itinerary and that she was able to pick me up from our hotel even though the website said it was out of policy. She accommodated a family or two elderly grandparents and a 2 yr old toddler. We were changing our pickup time and whether we wanted to do a day or night tour all the way up until the night before and she was so accomodating and doing research to give us minute by minute suggestions. I will totally book with her again the next time I come back!
I want to start by saying Rebecca was very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable when it came to the history and stories of Hawaii. We appreciated her willingness to share that background with us and her pleasant attitude throughout the day. That said, the overall experience did not quite meet our expectations, especially considering the nearly $1,000 price tag. At the beginning of the tour, Rebecca frequently asked us where we wanted to go, which initially felt nice and flexible. However, as the day went on, it started to feel like there wasn’t really a solid plan or itinerary for the tour and she was less knowledgeable about places to see on the island. One example was a trail that was part of the volcano national park. Rebecca was hesitant about letting us do it and almost discouraged us from going because she wasn’t familiar with it, despite it being an official national park trail recommended to us by a park ranger there. For a tour at this price point, we expected the guide to have a stronger understanding of the popular attractions and activities in the area. She did not join us for any of the activities and stayed in the car while we explored, which was fine, but when combined with the other aspects of the experience, it ultimately left us feeling like we had paid for what amounted to a glorified driving service. We also specifically told her that we did not want to visit an area that was recovering from a hurricane. We felt uncomfortable with the idea of visiting a community recovering from such a devastating event as though it were a ‘tourist attraction’. Unfortunately, we were still taken through that area, which was disappointing given that we had clearly expressed our wishes. We felt that she lacked the depth of local knowledge we were hoping for. Since she is not originally from Hawaii, we would recommend choosing a guide who is a longtime local if you’re looking for a tour focused on authentic local knowledge, hidden gems, and a well-planned experience.
The entire experience was awesome. Uncle Jim truly makes the tour. His knowledge fueled by his passion and love for what he does is quite apparent. We cannot thank him enough. Our family could not stop speaking of how awesome the tour was and everything we were able to do in 11 hours. Thank you so much!!
We had the BEST time on this trip! Rebecca called me a few days before to confirm our hotel and timeline and to go over the itinerary. She picked us up at our hotel right on time. She was a whole vibe, her energy and enthusiasm made everything even better. She told us about the island, had podcasts about Pele and island legends at the ready for us to listen to on the long drives, and knew all the best spots for snacks. We got to see Black Sands Beach, enjoy some generous samples of macadamia nuts and coffee, got a fresh made pizza and lau lau (which was awesome), saw a rainbow over the volcano at the national park, and had a tour of the island. It was fabulous and we just loved Rebecca, can't recommend her enough.
Rebecca was our guide, personable and willing to adjust itinerary to meet our requests. The major down side was a car MUCH too small for six people. Very uncomfortable to be crammed in a too small vehicle for 8+ hours. The vehicle could fit 3 comfortably and we had six adults!
We had an amazing day with our guide Rebecca. We loved the Podcasts woth the tales of the Island. A great tour tailored to the spots we wanted to see the most. It was great to not have to drive to be able to enjoy everything. Highly recommend this if you want to see the whole island without the drive. Also recomment you reach out to Renecca before you book to map out what your tour will cover and then you can plan the rest of your days around that. +18086401794
The private tour was completely tailored to us. It allowed us to customize where we wished to go and how much time to spend in each location. Our tour guide, Rebecca, was so knowledgeable and thought so much about what to do and places to go. We are using her tips to get the full Hawaii experience. She also knew so much history. This tour was the highlight of our trip.
Great day with Igor! He knew the best way to transverse Volcano National Park so we could make the best use of our time. He even made time for a few bonus side trips on the way to and from the park. A fabulous experience!
Fantastic tour Scenic road to Rainbow Falls then between two volcanos to Kilaeua which was ready to erupt. We had lunch at the Volcano lodge which was great. En route we saw Hilo and stopped at a great food market. On the way back we took the scenic route by the water, stopped to see the green turtles, saw the beautiful town of Kona and back to the hotel. Almost 9 hours overall Rebecca was spectacular Flexible and we had a great conversation with her and learned a lot Also excellent driver Highly highly recommend Rebecca and the tour company Cindy and Chuck
No Brainer , just go for it . If you an are party of four or more it’s cheaper than normal 20 people trips plus it would be your private trip . Rebecca is excellent, she called before trip and planned the itinerary based on what we wanted to visit . Even though Viator shows only limited pickup locations but Rebecca picked us up from our Airbnb. She made best use of time by ordering lunch beforehand to avoid wait time . She is the best.
We had a great day with Igor and had a fabulous experience visiting many areas of beautiful Kona area A highlight was a visit to the volcano area and another to the macadamia sampling where we also enjoyed a delicious pizza for lunch. Igor is very knowledgeable and passionate about the area he lives in and a safe driver in a very clean car My husband and I had a day to remember
our tour guide was Igor. We are still talking about what a fantastic time we had on our tour with him! he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and entertained. His passion for what he was doing really shines through and it was the highlight of our trip. We truly appreciate the extra mile he went for us.
Olga was our charming and knowledgeable guide for our all-day adventure. Our private tour for four people started at 10:00 AM and didn't get back to our condo until 11:00 PM. You can read about the stops on the website, understanding that they may change due to weather and other factors. Our favorite was South Point - the southernmost tip of the United States - the views from the cliff were spectacular. Unless you happen to go on a day when there is an eruption, don't expect to see the lava geyers shown in the website photograph. The only lava we saw was on a live video braodcast inside the Volcano House restaurant. We opted to have dinner in the Rim restaurant hoping to see the sunset over the volcano, but the weather did not cooperate. If we did it again we would choose the less expensive grill down the hall, as it has the same views. By time we finished dinner it was too dark to see anything else in the park. Starting and hour or two earlier would have been a better option. All-in-all a great excursion.
Be prepared for all weather & comfy shoes …. Ask for downtown markets & star gazing! Be prepared to pay for your own meals
Our group of 4 older relatives considered booking a bus tour to visit Volcanos National Park, but when we realized that booking a private tour was less than 4 bus tour tickets, we decided to try that. It turned out to be the best decision of our trip as it allowed us to customize what we wanted to do! Rebecca contacted us right away to find out what we were interested in, then followed up with a phone meeting just before the tour to confirm our custom itinerary. She timed everything just right and we enjoyed spectacular views of the eruption, which we realized could start or stop at any time, but we lucked out and we experienced episode 40 lava flows in the late afternoon and during evening dinner at Volcano House from our restaurant window seats! Another advantage to taking this tour was that Rebecca was able to drop us off when parking was tight and then return to get us when we were ready to leave each spot. If we had driven ourselves, it would have been very frustrating to park because people were streaming in from all over the Island to view the eruption, we even met people staying on other islands who flew in for the day just to see it, so parking lots everywhere were packed, not just in the Park. And unlike a bus tour, there was no exact time to leave each stop, we could call our driver and leave early or a little bit later and not worry about being left behind, or getting the "stink eye" from other passengers. But best of all, we enjoyed a safe driver on our long trip back to the Kona coast after dark. Rebecca was a very careful driver and considerate about our comfort on the curvy roads. She also provided many options of music and podcasts of local history and legions to choose from, making the time on the long drive go by faster. So even though we had our own rental car for this trip, booking this private tour was the best decision!
From the moment we met Rebecca, I knew we were in good hands. She's friendly, energetic, and treated us like a member of the family on an exciting day trip. We went all over the island in her car from Kona to Hilo, on to Naalehu in the South, and then back to the volcano at twilight. We saw everything - waterfalls, turtles, street markets, beaches, and amazingly, fresh lava. It was a wonderful day and I'd 100% recommend her if you're interested in getting away from the hotel and touring the big island!
Great trip, Igor is an excellent tour guide, we had really good time. Igor was flexible and also quite knowledgeable. Memorable experience
Amazing experience recommended for the whole family to for their unforgettable wonderful memories. Our tour guide Rebecca made our day.
Booking this tour was the best decision we could have made. Igor exceeded all expectations—he provided excellent information about the island of Hawaii, gave us great advice, and adapted perfectly to our schedule and dietary needs. I definitely recommend him, and if I return, I would hire him again without hesitation.
We needed to make a change in our scheduling and Rebecca, our tour guide, was very accommodating. She is very knowledgeable about the island and took us to many great sights. We were doing the NCL Pride of America cruise and she picked us up and brought us back near the port. It was a wonderful way to spend the day in Hawaii! Would highly recommend this to get a 6 hour ride around the island!
It's great that someone else drives! Igor was very knowledgeable about history of island, personable, flexible with our schedule and we all enjoyed our time with him,
Rebecca gave us a wonderful tour of the island! She was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly where to go and when. She was great with our family and we would highly recommend her!
Absolutely amazing. Igor was FANTASTIC. He knows the island like the back of his hand. He completely customized the trip to what we wanted to do. Couldn't have asked for a better trip!!!!
Olga our tour guide had culturally significant information and was very attentive to our needs. We had an excellent tour and would highly recommend this private tour if you would like a more personalized experience. My partner and I had a wonderful time visiting all the beautiful sites of the big island.
Rebecca was so awesome. We toured the island like the locals! Loved the way she curated experiences that were special and off the beaten path but also included notable sites. She’s the absolute best and has such a kind heart. We would definitely recommend this tour to our family and friends.
Our private tour of the Big Island with Olga was an experience we’ll never forget! From start to finish, she made the day feel personal, seamless, and full of wonder. We explored what felt like the entire island—stopping at the southernmost point of the U.S. to watch cliff divers, strolling along the stunning black sand beach, walking through ancient lava tubes, and peering into the dramatic volcano crater. Olga was the perfect guide—so knowledgeable, warm, and fun. As we cruised comfortably in her car, she shared fascinating island legends, local history, and personal stories that made each stop come alive. She seemed to know all the hidden gems, too—we tasted rich, local coffee at a charming farm, sampled local chocolates, and made delicious stops at a pie shop and a pastry shop (both drool-worthy!). It was the perfect blend of sightseeing, culture, storytelling, and food fun. If you’re visiting the Big Island, a tour with Olga is an absolute must. She truly made us fall in love with Hawaii!
Awesome tour of the island. Very flexible tour that allowed us to see the places we wanted to see at our pace. We even got a bonus tour guide on our trip. Nolan was very informative and we enjoyed having him on the tour.
First of all, our tour guide Rebecca was great. She blended like family. She was very detailed and informative about the sites, island, the people, and island beliefs. We were allowed to enjoy our stops never feeling rushed. Our group age ranged from 25 to 73. We all participated in everything. I have friends and family going in January and they will be taking the tour. I would do it again.
The whole day trip was full of amazing views, but our favorite was the 3-mile drive in the back of a pickup to a green sand beach. One of only four green sand beaches in the world. Papakolea Beach❤️ Our tour guide Olga was also amazing!
Rebecca did an excellent job of mixing well-known hot spots and hidden gems of Hilo and beyond. We had loads of fun spending at local stops for tastings and treats, lunch and handmade works of art. Rebecca gets the job done!
Volcano National Park and Black Sand Beach. Our guide Olga Wes great. She knew exactly where to take us. Was there to pick us up on time and got us back on time. Had a lot of knowledge and knew her way around.
My family and I had a fantastic time on our tour! Very professional and friendly service, and accommodating for all of our requests and needs. We would highly recommend it!
Rebecca was an outstanding Guide! She asked us what we wanted to do since it was a private tour. She drove safely and filled us with Hawaiian Lore and myths, while getting us to our destination of the waterfalls and volcanoes with lunch in between. We are seniors so frequent stops or also necessary. She was a joy as a guide!
Rebecca was a great tour guide - friendly, knowledgeable and flexible to what our group wanted to see and do.
Rebecca was great, very informative and friendly, we were able to see different aspects of the big island.
Lunch at the volcano was unforgettable. Rainbow Falls and Hilo were both very enjoyable. Our driver, Rebecca, enlightened us with explanations and fun facts about the history of the Big Island and the volcanoes.
The day was awesome! Olga, our tour guide and driver, was so nice and very informative and super accommodating. We saw everything we wanted to see - the town of kona, the southern most point, the lava tube and steam vents and crater. The 10 hours flew by and the car was very comfortable. We highly recommend this private tour!
We had a great time with Rebecca. She is the embodiment of the aloha spirit. She clearly loves what she does and is so knowledgeable. This tour took us to highlights that we would never have been able to do on our own. We can’t recommend her enough!!
We highly recommend this tour. All our needs have been taken care of. What we we liked the most about this tour was that our two favorites, the Kilauea volcano and Mauna Kea, were both included in this tour. It was an incredibly beautiful day, we will never forget these special moments. All in all, everything was great with Olga (our Tourguide), the communication, the atmosphere, the safe car rides, the information about the island and the highlights. We will recommend the tour to friends and family!
Rebecca was a fun tour guide! We had to cut our day short (due to our own short-sighted planning) and that restricted what I had hoped to see, as I really did not recognize how large the island is and how much travel time to include. I was grateful to Rebecca for counsel she provided prior to our tour so that we could complete some activities in advance, to avoid missing anything really important to us. On the day of the tour, Rebecca helped us prioritize the trip, to get the most out of the time that we did have.
Rebecca is such a wonderful human and a fabulous tour guide! She took my family and I around the Big Island on a day with not so great weather but it was still incredible! No one has to worry about driving, every one was happy. Her car is clean and has plenty of space. No worries if you track in dirt as she takes you around. We saw all the things on our list that we told her we’re important. She played us podcasts about the island and told us personal stories. She had a pleasant attitude even when under stress because of the weather and other elements. She was helpful before we even got to the island, giving us recommendations where to shop and eat when we arrived. Can’t say enough good things about her! Thanks Rebecca!!?
Rebecca was absolutely amazing! her communication style was perfect to fit my needs and know that i was good to be picked up on time. She told us the history while we took the 2 hour ride to the south of the island (Bring stuff for kids to play with as this part may bore them), but for adults it was great. We went to a local farm and had their amazing food and coffee, 4 wheel drive pick up truck/hike to the green sands beach (gorgeous), then to the southern most point bakery (yum), to the black sand beach to see sea turtles, and then to the tallest mountain in the world for a beautiful sunset. What a great day!
Excellent experience, professional accomodating and flexible service, great experience, would highly recommend
This private tour is highly recommended! Since the Kilauea volcano was active while we were there - the tour guide "Rebecca" contacted us the day before - to see if we wanted to get started later so that we could see the volcano at night. It was a wonderful suggestion! Rebecca picked us up from our hotel and immediately gave the kids a microphone so that they could do some karaoke as we got underway. They loved it! Rebecca was fully accommodating of our two boys and what they wanted to do and what would be fun for them. During the drive she played a podcast with some island history and with some island stories. There were a few things we couldn't squeeze in - there was so much to do! - but she provided us with details and even a contact so that we could return to see what we missed (which we did). Rather than to shuffle on and off of a tour bus - a private tour by way of a private car is the way to go. Highly recommended way to see the Big Island!
Rebecca that took us on our tour, was the best. Very relaxing and informative. We did the tour on our first full day in Hawaii; now, we know where to return to with our rental car.
We had a blast traveling the island and seeing lots of fun sights. Our favorite part was the lava tube. Rebecca was wonderful.
