Great experience -kind gal who was very patriotic!
It was better for us and our family to stretch this out between two days. The museums are amazing and super educational. Well worth the money!
It seems that money was the sole motive for the park.
I enjoyed the information at my own pace
This was okay if you had extensive time to listen to the guide. But the site has good written explanations at each point which are very good; it takes a full day to see all that Pearl Harbor has to offer without even starting the guide. We’d never have made it thru if we listened to it. The virtual reality was fine, but not exceptional. Expensive for minimal usage.
Exhilarating VR experience!! The perspectives were so real that I actually found myself reaching for a "railing"! Highly recommend!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This place is incredibly informative! My kids had an absolute blast and couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It's definitely a must-go for families looking for both fun and educational experiences.
It was surreal to be in the same area as the surrender papers were signed and to see the remains of the USS Arizona. So much history there. Even my 11 yr old daughter enjoyed it.
The VR portion of this combo is a waste of time and money. Employee didn’t bother explaining how to adjust headset. Picture was blurry so switched headset and the next one was only slightly better. Very short program. Stick to the audio tour.
Good information, well kept place with lot of sentiments. Must place to visit. Deluxe package is helpful and VR is fun to watch.
What a beautiful place to memorialize history of our blessed soldiers and civilians who lost their lives to give us ours
Your people should be present at the site to help facilitate the program. We paid you for a non service! No one was there to help us and as a result, we were not allowed to board the vessel that takes people to the Arizona! A very sad waste of time and money! Others that use your service, need to know our terrible experience!
Don’t book via trip advisor- book through the government website for recreation because it is the only way to reserve a time for the boat out to the USS Arizona Memorial. We booked through trip advisor and had to wait an hour and a half on standby with our three teenagers to get out there. Otherwise Pearl Harbour was well worth the visit- educational and moving.
Pearl Harbor was an amazing experience. The price was less than anything else I could find. Afterwards I still think you made a mistake by giving it at such a low price. Even with paying for our own transportation it was still less expensive than any of the tours offered by the hotel or other online.
Entrance to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites is free, but to visit the USS Arizona Memorial takes a reservation. Which can be made months in advance. If you wait till you arrive, tickets may be gone. The self guided audio tour utilizes a cell phone type device and earbuds. Jamie Lee Curtis narrates the tour. There are markers bearing tour numbers throughout the site and you enter the number to hear that segment of information. It’s a very user friendly operation. The virtual reality is a fun way to get a better perspective of the attack as it happened. There are two small museums on site. While interesting, it seems they would have more displays and artifacts than they did. They are still worth taking the time to go through however. We found taking the tour and doing the VR took us a few hours prior to our scheduled time for the boat ride out to the memorial. Although the web sight will warn you to get there early, we found that private tour groups from Honolulu made this an early stop and made things far more crowded. By noon they were gone and the remaining crowd much less, making the experience more enjoyable.
Visiting memorials is always a sobering experience. The Arizona was even more so because of the pains taken my the on-site military and staff to remind us that there were 900+ marines and sailors still entombed at the site. I was skeptical of the short visit to the monument itself, but it turned out to be about right. It’s likely that if you want more time, you could just take a subsequent ferry. Took an audio tour of the visitor center and monument, which was pretty good. I was glad to see mention of some of America’s missteps as well, such as the the internment camps. Overall a great experience.
Great information. Loved going at my own pace. It was very hot the day we went and there were very few seats in the shade. With the number of seniors that might be something for the park to consider.
No information not provided by the publicly available information and videos. Pretty tedundent. Not really of value.
Well, I wanted this to be the best experience ever, as I have been waiting for this for many years it was a horrible experience. I was told the boat tour experience was not included, which was fine, but went directly to the website. There were no availabilities when I called they asked me to wait. Once I spoke to someone, they assured me I could arrive and purchase tickets. When we arrived, we were told no bags allowed. It would’ve been helpful to know that before hand. Another $14 then will spend to check in our bags. Only to find once we entered, we could get bags that were not clear. Where in gods name does this make sense? I have to say, very disappointed with Viator for not giving us a heads up.
Boat tour was canceled because of high wind. But very interesting movie and museum . Will try and get back on next trip. Was told this could be a possibility in the winter.
What a very moving experience!! Great narrated tour, however the girls at the check in desk were very rude and unhelpful. Once you figure out how the tour works, it was very emotional and well laid out. Definitely worth it to get the boat tickets to go out to see the Arizona after the narrated tour
Great experience. A dark time in America's history. One will experience the many reasons we should never go to war. Nobody wins
This was a must experience tour. Very informative and heart rendering. Seeing the place where so many soldiers gave their lives for our freedom was a very humbling & moving experience.
We could have done all the grounds with out the narrative. We still did not get access to the actual memorial and the standby line was hours of waiting. My nephews from Sweden did not even use the audio portion. Very disappointing.
Almost heard of Pearl Harbour so we had to visit. Being from Canada, it’s not relative exactly to our history but still significant. My wife and I were not totally prepared for being emotional on visiting the sight. Makes you realize the senselessness of war.
Sadly, you have to pay to book a tour with a tour group or hotel if you want to visit the Arizona Memorial. The 1,300 “free” tickets that are supposed to be released and available at recreation.gov at 3p.m. each day are already spoken for by these for profit tour groups. Also, the park authority will not allow ride shares so be prepared for a bit of a walk and an all day wait in a standby line, with no guarantee of getting a ticket, if you don’t book with a tour outfit. We had 3 days in Honolulu and thankfully figured out the game on Day 2. We booked with hotel concierge and got on tour Day 3. Site itself was very moving and well done.
It was a 2 1/5 wait to get tickets for the boat out to the Arizona because they all get purchased online within seconds by tour companies. I was travelling with my 90 year mother who was not able to stand in that line with the heat and humidity so we gave up. Going to the Arizona was the most important she wanted to do on our Hawaii vacation since she was alive during this time in history. The park doesn't provide wheelchairs so the walking tour was out, the Missouri was out and the submarine was out. This is not a handicap friendly park. On top of that the virtual reality tour we paid for crashed and we were not able to do the one thing where she could sit. We flew from the Big Island just for this and it was a total bomb.
the virtual experience of being on the Arizona on December 1, 1941 was chilling and somber, gave me additional respect for our military.
We didn’t have enough time and couldn’t take the tour. We never used the tickets. We would go today but no tickets
Getting to hear the commentary while viewing the artifacts were great! The virtual reality center was the best part of the visit
Looking back at the tour page, I can see this tour does not include the ferry to the USS Arizona; however, this was not clear at the time of booking and three other parties we ran into with this same experience also had the same issue. That’s three couples that happened to visit on the same day at the same TIME that we did who were misled by this tour. Statistically, that suggests this is a major issue with the advertisement of this experience. These three other parties had also attempted to receive a refund and were declined…as such, we didn’t bother trying and at least took advantage of the VR portion of this tour. It was a cool diversion for 7 minutes and is the reason for the second star, but this alone is not worth the full price. We didn’t bother with the audio tour as the free museums were fantastic on their own. There’s probably a case to be made with the Better Business Bureau here regarding the advertisement of this experience—I still may raise a case once we’re home. Though we did eventually make it to the USS Arizona, it came after waiting two hours in an unshaded standby line with several other frustrated customers. The reservation system on recreation.gov is frustrating, confusing, and seems like yet another corner-cutting measure hiding behind the guise of COVID safety. This excursion exists specifically to take advantage of customers that don’t know any better and will make me steer clear of any Viator tours in the future. Be sure to visit Pearl Harbor when in Oahu—but do NOT take advantage of any added experiences and be on the recreation.gov site exactly at 3pm the day before your visit to make your best attempt at reserving the USS Arizona ferry.
Our tour guide Humu was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful to me and my family. We had a mix-up in our reservation and he got it worked out for us the USS Arizona was one of the most touching things I have experienced. I highly recommend seeing it.
This tour does not include tickets to the USS Arizona and is completely misleading. You must go to the the site directly to buy tickets to the USS Arizona. They need to put this clearly in the title/listing.
Do not book thru Viator! Ripoff- admission is free. They charged me twice as much for the same audio that is available onsite for 7.99. They don’t tell you that the Memorial entrance requires a reservation so we arrived and there was a two hour wait in the standby line.
It has been the most important thing in my trips to Hawaii for my son. And would like to come again someday in the future
Seeing and hearing what happened leading up to and after the attack. Seeing artifacts and other pieces history.
This is why we came to Oahu. Loved Pearl Harbor & the Audio Tour. No advance notice but the ferry dock was damaged in the storm so sad to say no USS Arizona or Missouri.
The 6 minute VR tour was way better than walking an hour looking at pictures and reading wall plates. It really became the summary before the audio tour, which we just great. I would recommend spending the $25 for two for this to all my friends!
If you’re a history buff you will like this and truly feel it in your heart when on the USS Arizona. To walk around Pearl Harbor and see it first hand almost brings you back to the actual time when it was attacked. When there pay your respects to all of the fallen and enjoy your time at Pearl Harbor. Also don’t forget this you need to go early before it gets crowded because it will get very crowded.
Three of us enjoyed our visit to this memorial. It was especially nice that you could see so much of it without paying for it. And we were fortunate that it was not a busy, crowded day. The only inconvenience is that you can’t take a purse in if it is bigger than a cell phone so we had to leave purses behind. Cell phones are allowed so we could at least take pictures.
Spent a great day at Pearl Harbor. We used the audio tour and virtual reality tour for the first time. This was our third trip to Pearl and we got so much more out of it using the audio guide. The virtual reality tour was nice, especially the underwater tour of the Arizona. It is a very sad day in American history that we should never forget and continue to honor.
The self narrated tour was excellent. But we could NOT go out to the USS Arizona due to a broken dock. This would have pulled the experience together. Really bummed about this.
Could t get a ticket for the boat: so we couldn’t even go. All others: BOOK YOUR BOAT TICKET FIRST. And shame on TripAdvisor for only telling me about it AFTER I bought my tickets to the museum, when no more boat tickets were available.
It was a waste of money. There wasn’t enough description of what was included, a lot of missing info and it was cheaper at the place. Not recommend it.
Maybe it was my rush to get tickets on short notice, but this tour does NOT include the boat trip out to the actual memorial (the site of the USS Arizona itself.) I have no idea what the tour actually includes but when I was told we wouldn't be able to view the actual memorial we simply didn't go and I ate the $32 tickets. I'm sure this comes down to an issue of not reading the fine print, but all we wanted was to visit an important, world-famous memorial an not an on-shore virtual reality "tour."
We all enjoyed the narrated tour. I learned so much and so did my teenagers. The virtual reality experience was interesting.
I purchased the virtual tour but later discovered it didn’t include the boat to the Arizona which was a bit of a surprise. I happened across the fine details only after purchasing the tickets. So had to try to get boat tickets which wasn’t very clear how to do that it just said to go to the gov website. Also the contact information was not good at all to clarify what I needed to do. Finally after I found out what I needed to purchase for the boat on the website it was impossible to buy the tickets because they’re sold out immediately once they go on sale. Then the information from travel advisor says they hand out 1300 tickets the morning of which I found this to be false, you have to be in a standby line which took us over two hours and we showed up before it opened. Pearl Harbor was great to experience but unfortunately had to deal with uncertainty and lots of waiting even though we bought tickets to the virtual reality tour weeks earlier we should not had this happen to us.
The narration was well done and informative. It would be helpful if it was made clear at time of purchase that one would still have to have a separate ticket for the bot ride to USS Arizona. We were able to get in on stand by and the narration by Jamie Lee Curtis (daughter of Tony - who was in the Pacific Theater) - enhanced the experience on the Memorial, and throughout the Pearl Harbor area.
Just getting better knowledge of what was going on and listen to it really helped me a lot............... ...
