Offshore Wildlife Safari And Reef Snorkel

This trip was wonderful! There was high surf that day so we couldn't snorkel the reef, but we went out to deep water. We saw a couple different types of dolphins (striped -one that's not typically seen there, so that was awesome). They also made a point to pick up a bunch of floating ocean trash which was so exciting to see. I mean there is Eco in the company name and they really showed their care for the ocean. One of those pieces of trash was a 5 gallon bucket with a trigger fish inside. So we got to jump out and snorkel with some trigger fish which was really cool. It was also nice to be in a smaller group (6) instead of some tours where they pack on as many people as possible. And we spent a lot of time on the ocean. This is a 4 hour tour, not just a one hour quick snorkel. You really get time on the boat to head out to the deep water and search for wildlife.

Most spectacular thing I have ever done. As an inexperienced deep sea snorkeler, I felt so safe in the hands of Monet. The couple running Ocean Eco Tours truly know how to make an experience and allowed us to explore further than we could imagine, on May 8, my husband and I got to see a group of pilot whales, spinner dolphins and a group of pigme killer whales. I would recommend this tour over anything we did with our time on Kona for it will be the most memorable and majestic experience of our lives!

Such a great crew, nice boat, and fantastic experience for a Kona boat tour! Highly recommend the offshore safari if you are up for an adventure... we saw pilot whales, sperm whales, sharks, and dolphins... but it could vary depending on the day. Manta swim is amazing too. Look no further, this is the boat to go on when visiting Kona.

This is a deep water snorkel, much different from a reef snorkel. On this tour, you’re looking for large marine mammals, and did we ever find some! We swam with spotted dolphins, raw tooth dolphins, melon head whales, Bainsville whales, an oceanic white tip shark, and even a lone marlin! Highly recommend if you’re comfortable in open ocean settings and are looking to experience a connection with the larger species! Monet and Dillion will take good care of you and ensure your safety. So do something different…. and book it!

This trip was amazing! Saw dolphins after only minutes of being on the boat… saw humpback whales as we went down the coast. Snorkelled with Rough Toothed dolphins and pilot whales. Finished with beautiful fish, eels and sea urchins. The staff were so knowledgeable! I highly recommend booking this tour!

My wife and I took this tour on 3-4-26. Brandon and Monet were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They took the time to try and cater the experience to all aboard, and they succeeded wonderfully. The snorkel spot was great (we saw a turtle, octopus, and dolphins) and getting to see AND swim with Polly whales (and a couple of sharks) was amazing. We would definitely do this tour again! What an incredible time out on the water with Ocean Eco Tours! Monet and Brendan were super knowledgeable and spotted so much sea life during our offshore safari! We swam with pilot whales, beaked whales, dolphins, and an oceanic white tip! The ride out was super comfy and it was nice to have storage in the benches where we could put our things. When we were in the water, Monet made us feel super comfortable and gave us direction on where to look and what to do. You HAVE to go out with Ocean Eco Tours if you are headed to Kona. Best excursion ever!!

10/10 recommend!!! We seen so much wildlife and we got to swim with oceanic white tip sharks!!! Humpback whales, bottlenose dolphins, close to 100 spinner dolphins, and pilot whales!!

This offshore safari was the highlight of our whole trip! We were headed towards a pod of pilot whales when Brandon got word of a whale shark sighting. He got us quickly and safely to the site and after some waiting, the magnificent whale shark resurfaced. All in all, we got to swim / snorkel with the whale shark for almost one hour. We felt completely safe as did our kids (9 & 11). Monet got some incredible videos for us. We even spotted an oceanic white tip shark in the distance. Overall this was an experience of a lifetime. Highly recommend Eco Ocean Tours!! We also did the night manta ray tour with them and had an incredible experience.

100/10 would recommend. Monet and Brennan are absolutely amazing. The offshore safari was the best thing we experienced. The small group size set them apart immediately and they only continued to deliver. They were so kind, informative, and absolutely amazing. I don’t think anything will top the videos and pictures we received from them of the experience. By far the best thing we did in Hawaii. We would come back solely to do this again with them, this is a can’t miss activity!

I had a great time going out on the boat with Ocean Eco Tours. We got to swim with an oceanic white tip shark and rough tooth dolphins, and we saw lots of spotted dolphins and spinner dolphins from the boat. The boat captain and guide that you get in the water with are the business owners and great people to hang out with.

Can’t recommend this adventure enough. Very friendly and knowledgeable team. While we did not see any large animals, the team took us snorkeling at Captain Cook which was a bonus. Perfect for families! We will do this again next year.

By far my favorite experience here in Kona. I live here an will be booking a third time. Monet and Brenden make an excellent team. We were able to see so many variety of dolphins as well as Melon-headed whales and Sperm whales. I can't wait to take my sister out again when she comes to visit in March. The photos and video that Monet captured are magical and the drone footage from Branden is just as spectacular. There is no doubt that they love what they do and take pride in showing others the magic of the Hawaiian waters and wildlife. I can't say enough great things about this tour, highly recommend!

Wow! That was a phenomenal morning on the ocean we will never forget. Snorkeling with dolphins, whales and sharks all in one morning... Is surreal. Monet was a superb guide in and out of the water. We couldn't have asked for more!

We had such an amazing experience with the crew in the Night Manta Ray Snorkel, we decided to book the we decided we would book for the Offshore Ocean Safari for the following morning. Just as the night before, the harbor was easy to navigate and we were on the water pretty quickly. Monet and Brenden gave their safety briefing and shared some information about the wildlife we might see. If we thought the manta tour was great, this tour BLEW OUR MINDS and exceeded our expectations. After only a short ride, we were already in the water swimming with dozens of grey reef sharks. They were so fun to hang out with and the crew did a great job of making sure we were safe through the whole experience. After snapping some photos with them (Monet’s photo package is a MUST), we moved on to our second spot. On the way, we spotted and picked up some trash floating in the ocean—this is an eco tour after all. All of a sudden, Brenden points out some pilot whales. WHALES??! Not a minute later, Oceanic White Tip sharks showed up on the other side of the boat. We didn’t know which direction to look!! Monet gave another safety briefing and some education about the sharks before we got in the water and these things were unbelievable. So beautiful but a little shy. We are so glad we got to see them. When we got back on the boat, Brenden took us to a spot where we could enjoy the Pilot Whales as they passed by. We kept our distance and were careful not to disturb them as the group of whales calmly swam right past us. The Oceanic White Tips even paid us another visit. Before we headed back to the harbor, we were able to stop by and see the Mantas again. They are so different in the day time and I’m glad we got to see them in both tours. We cannot recommend Ocean Eco Tours enough. They are professional, responsible, knowledgeable, and so kind. We were sure to leave a nice tip as well, as you will never have a crew like this anywhere else. Thank you Monet and Brenden!!

We had an amazing time with Monet and Brenden! We did both the safari and night manta rays diving on the same days and they were incredible experiences. Monet and Brenden know what they do and take care of you. We were able to swim with a big pod of dolphins who played with the boat as well as a ray manta during the day. We were also able to swim with several manta rays at night and this is such a special experience to see them so close! We really appreciated the videos they sent us. They also gave us recommandations of things to do and it. It is a small company and you should definitely check them out :)

Great day on the water. We came to Hawaii on a cruise ship. We arrived at 0700 and weren’t sure if we would make it on time. We were in the first group and arrived just in time. We're glad we made it. The couple running the tour are very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They told us it was a safari, and they were correct. We started out looking in deeper water for the larger game. We found them! We were able to get in the water with a group of Pilot Whales. AMAZING! Then we headed to another area to swim with some younger sharks. Our last stop was another area to see if we could find Manta Rays. We found three of them. Another amazing experience! Again, what a fun day. They even included a few underwater photos for us. I would highly recommend this tour…

Brenden and Monet were the best crew we met during our week in Kona! We found this tour on TripAdvisor and booked it for our last day. After seeing the night manta rays and snorkeling at Captain Cook Bay earlier in the week, we wanted to venture offshore to look for bigger wildlife. At first, we weren’t sure if we would be able to get into the water, but we did—and it was incredible! The crew provided fins and snorkeling gear, and Monet even led us to swim right alongside a group of pilot whales. It was our first time seeing whales so close, a truly unforgettable experience. We saw manta rays again! Monet also captured photos and videos for us for free. This 4-hour trip ended up being the highlight of our entire vacation. Highly recommend this tour and amazing crew!

Great crew and great excursion. The crew was very knowledgable and did everything to keep us safe, happy, comfortable, and ofcourse grabbed every chance to show us amazing things. We saw spinner dolphins, pilot whales, rays, a shark. Monet and kyla even checked out a blob of whale poop to make sure it wasnt something else big in the water. They keep groups small which was great for me and my kids. That also put us in good positions for swimming with the pilot whales. Captain brenden had an eagle eye and could spot out everything and was always aware of surroundings. Thank you ocean eco tours for the opportunity to be in magic!

We can not recommend Ocean Eco Tours enough! Monet and Brenden were so friendly and welcoming from the start. They shared tons of interesting facts about the wildlife, and we were lucky enough to see dolphins and manta rays! We booked the offshore snorkel and it surpassed our expectations by a long shot! Monet & Brendan were amazing & really knew the waters. We saw spotted dolphins, rough toothed dolphins, pilot whales, mahi, and marlin. I loved how intimate their trip is compared to bigger boat excursions. They really do a good job to ensure you have a great experience. If you are ever on the Big Island, definitely check them out!! You won't regret it!

An unforgettable day on the water — absolutely magical! We had the most INCREDIBLE experience with Ocean EcoTours and can’t recommend them enough. Monet and Brennan were not only super knowledgeable and professional, but also so genuinely fun and passionate about what they do. Their energy made the whole day even more special! We started off with spinner dolphins coming right up to our boat, jumping and playing in the waves, so magical. Then, we visited a shark cave where we saw several baby sharks tucked away in the lava rock — surreal. Also, so many pretty fish at this spot! As if that wasn’t enough, we crossed paths with a gorgeous spotted eagle ray, and later on, two huge pods of pilot whales! We even got to swim alongside two oceanic whitetip sharks — an absolutely jaw-dropping experience I’ll never forget. Everything was SO respectful to the animals and the ocean, and the entire tour was seamless from start to finish. If you're visiting the Big Island and looking for a day that’s truly once-in-a-lifetime, this is it. Thank you Monet and Brennan!!

The guys are great, especially Monet, and it was not their fault if we didn't meet any big creatures in four hours (apart from a manta ray). But, honestly, when you pay $180, you have a little higher expectations....

We had a WONDERFUL time! It is so much fun and excitement to be on this boat in hunt of where to jump in and what to jump in with. They go out of the way to help look for sea life to explore. We were lucky enough to swim with 2 pods of pilot whales that were logging, see 2 separate Oceanic White tip Sharks and a solo puffed up puffer fish that needed a bit of help. Being this type of safari, you never know what you may find. I would love to go again!

We had an amazing long encounter with bottlenose dolphins. We also saw pilot whales, a shark and a manta ray. I loved the fact that we were only 7 people on the boat. The crew was super nice. Everything was perfect. I would definitely do it again and 100% recommend this tour!

Absolutely what I was looking for in a snorkel safari. Small group and intimate experience. We were nervous about swimming in deep water but they put us totally at ease. As soon as we saw bottlenose dolphins we were able to jump out and swim with them. A quick trip to captain cook’s and we were able to get tons of pictures by the reef. Would do this tour again in a heartbeat!

10/10 recommend doing an offshore dive with Monet and Brenden! We had so much fun! We saw lots of whales, spinner dolphins, and the most beautiful reefs full of fish! It was a much more personalized experience than when I’ve booked with bigger boats in the past. This was definitely the highlight of our Kona trip, we can’t wait to come back and will be booking with them again! :)

Money and Brendan are awesome. They took us to some incredible dive spots, were very knowledgeable about the marine life, taught us about our safety if we saw marine life while diving, and took incredible photos of everyone. They are truly the best in the business!

Within minutes, we were finding wildlife like pros—including a False Killer Whale, which, fun fact, is just as cool as a real killer whale but probably has an identity crisis. Had the absolute best time on an offshore safari with Monet and Brenden! From the start, everything was top-notch. We saw so many mom and calf humpback pairs from the boat, plus a ton of breaching whales—such an incredible sight! On top of that, we got to spearfish in some amazing local spots filled with mu, uku, and parrotfish. Not only was the diving incredible, but we even caught fresh fish and had it for dinner—can’t beat that! The highlight? We had the insane luck of encountering a rare pod of false killer whales and watched them hunting up close. Such a wild and unforgettable experience! Overall, just an epic few days on the water with great people. If you’re thinking about booking—just do it! Can’t wait to go back.

Super attentive, fun to be around, and incredibly knowledgeable, these two will make your trip unforgettable as you explore the waters around Kona that are teeming with Ocean life.
