Oahu Open Water Shark Diving Experience

This was the most exciting and crazy thing I’ve ever done in my life! The crew was absolutely amazing. It was beautiful to see the relationship between the biologist and the sharks. It looked like he was playing with little dogs — so naturally and effortlessly! I was definitely afraid because we saw so many sharks, including three tiger sharks. It was an incredible experience and a real challenge for me. But at the same time, we felt completely safe and confident because of the crew. They are so professional, and you can truly see how much they love their work. It was beautiful to witness. I totally recommend this experience! Thank you, Deep Blue, for an unforgettable experience that I will never forget! 🦈💙🌊

This was a very humbling experience, the guides were wonderful and made us feel very comfortable in the water, we saw a Tiger shark and Galapagos sharks it was something we will always cherish thank you to the crew of the Deep Blue for making this memory one of the best highlights of our trip

Zach, Megan and Sierra delivered the most amazing shark adventure imaginable! 4 beautiful Tiger sharks swimming with us the entire dive, I never thought I would be lucky enough to be so close I can’t wait to see the pictures! Although you’re in the open water with sharks, staff are extremely professional and managed to make you feel safe while a Tiger shark is within arms reach, these guys are the real deal. If you’re an adrenaline junkie and a huge shark fan like myself DO NOT miss this tour, it’s well worth it.

A truly phenomenal experience! As someone who lives on the island and has done multiple shark dives with another company, this one was hands-down, the best yet! The guides made everyone feel comfortable in a real open water experience with the sharks. I had a little trouble finding the drop off location. Pin dropped was in one stop and ended up in another spot but did eventually find it:) Crew of Deep Blue tours were AMAZING! Very informative and prioritized safety! Highly recommend!

Cancelled trip in less than 24 hours because they didn't have enough people. Didn't leave me time to make plans to do something else. If I had cancelled in less 24 hours would I have been refunded? Same conditions should apply to both sides.

Amazing experience! The crew was awesome and made the entire shark dive feel safe and exciting. Seeing sharks up close was unforgettable, and the team’s passion for ocean conservation made it even more special. I would absolutely do this again. Highly recommend!

We were so nervous before our dive but it turned out to be our favorite experience of the entire trip. This was super out of my comfort zone but they made it a great experience. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and calm. I loved getting to learn about the wildlife and conservation, along with having an incredible experience. I would recommend this to anyone!

This is a must do. Had a blast with about 20 plus sharks. Guaranteed sharks to snorkel with. The crew were comforting and reassured our safety. Only thing is if your going from Waikiki, hire a car, busses are unreliable (this is not fault of Deep Blue Echo). Overall experience is great and still reliving the moment

Great crew, and super cool experience.

Saw about 12 Galapagos sharks. They were calm and beautiful. No danger at all as they don't want to go that close to you...but close enough to appreciate them. The optional photo session requires you to free dive, which was amazing but physically tiring if you aren't have experience doing that or descent cardio fitness. Having said that....it was totally worth it to have great photos of this rare experience!

This was an amazing experience! The crew was great and very knowledgeable, and they were very willing to adapt and change our location to have clear water and visibility for our dive. Our safety diver was on top of her game and shared passionate insights with our group. I would definitely do this again and highly recommend to others!

We had the best experience! There was a huge storm before our dive so the water was pretty murky, but the crew took us to a great spot to made sure we got great visibility. They were all awesome and we can't wait to get the cool photos from Meg!! 1000% recommend choosing Deep Blue Eco Tours if you're visiting Oahu (and definitely get the photo package!)

It may have been seasonal luck but a Whale and her calf plus a pod of 50+ Spinner dolphins during the transit and then 15 Galapagos sharks AND a massive barracuda for the whole snorkelling experience :) A genuinely amazing experience. The Blue Eco Team were a light touch, seriously competent and knowledgeable team and the intimacy of the group size (5 total) made the whole time even more memorable. Even a cranky oldie like me was impressed and the surreal moment of hearing whale song underwater whilst being actually surrounded by large sharks (and a barracuda !) was unforgettable.

AWESOME! This is easily one of the coolest activities that I've done in my Hawaii trip. It was super fun and I could see multiple Galapagos sharks. The dive guides and the captain are very professional and I felt safe the entire time. I chose the photography option, and I am so happy that I did it! Nika was the photographer and she is fantastic. I love the photos a lot.

We had a great time on the Deep Blue Eco Tours open water shark dive. The ratio of staff to guests (4:6) was perfect. They were knowledgeable, professional, observant, interactive, & did a great job getting us up close to the sharks in the bluest water I've ever seen in my life. We saw tons of Galapagos sharks, barracudas, & even a tiger shark. The staff supervised very closely, provided useful instruction, & we never felt in danger. We especially appreciate Meg's photography. We were able to focus on the sharks without having to mess with a camera. Thank you, Deep Blue Eco Tours, for giving us an unforgettable experience.

This was such an incredible experience! The crew was amazing so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They explained everything in detail, which made me feel safe and comfortable the entire time. I will say you do get splashed a lot on the boat but that’s just any boat ride on the ocean when the water is choppy.

This would have been an amazing experience, but I got extremely sea sick. Not there fault at all, but I do want to spread awareness that this experience is not for you if you are prone to motion sickness. It was such a shame I had taken anti-nausea medication beforehand, and nonetheless, I lasted about 5 minutes in the water before I had to get out. It was the sickest I've ever felt in my life and It felt like torture needing to stay on the boat for 1h+. Not a reflection on the company, the instructor was really kind. The time I did get in the water, it was amazing. I will note that one of the staff on the boat seemed rather annoyed with how sick I got.

Amazing experience, NOT SCARY AT ALL! I loved everything about this from getting into the water to the crew. I highly recommend taking motion sickness medicine as I did get sick on board, however with that being said the crew helped me out and gave me anti nausea chews. Shout out to Megan for the pictures! They came out amazing! They do take about a week to come, but they are well worth the wait!

One of the best experiences ever! The staff was well prepared and thoroughly went through what to expect and ensured our safely the entire dive. If you ever visit Oahu, this is a must do activity. Being in the water surrounded by sharks was so surreal. Will definitely come back when I visit the island again.

We had a fantastic time. The team was incredible. We saw and swam with many sharks and never felt unsafe. We have a new appreciation for sharks. Well worth the money.

Best experience ever. The crew was very nice and helpful. I did this activity because my boyfriend really wanted to but I was nervous. The crew made the experience extremely safe and fun. We also got to see dolphins!!

We decided to dive with Deep Blue Eco Tours after checking several of the operators. The groups were smaller and their focus on shark conservation made them perfect for us. The swim itself was an exciting if slightly uncomfortable experience, and this reviewer is of the opinion no-one should be comfortable in the close presence of large ocean predators. With 12 sharks swimming around us and several of them super curious, we were glad to have a great guide who understood clearly the sharks behaviour and body posture, knew when to chase them off and when it was safe to let them pass closely. Prior to our getting into the water, our guide gave us clear and critical safety instructions and made sure we stuck to it in the water. Overall it was a great experience. I would do it again, but I might be inclined to bring my own snorkel and mask just for comfort. Attached pictures are my own using the DiveVolk iPhone housing, but Deep Blue Eco offers professional quality photos.

The crew was very professional and helpful. A lot of knowledge given before the dive so we knew what to do in the water. An awesome experience and would do it again in the future.

Will definitely not book this company again. When we were at the harbor and another boat company asked if we were with them and we said “no, we’re with deep blue eco tour” and they said “that’s unfortunate” and how right they were. I will never go back to this tour. To preface I work in customer service industry (tour boats as well) which is why this tour was so disappointing. The crew was bland and not fun and ultimately not personable. The captain was outright rude, her name was Madison and she was just rude to everyone on the boat. She also brought her boyfriend out and it was so unprofessional and uncomfortable, he decided to touch the sharks as well? Would have loved to been able to do that had I known this was allowed. There were 6 of us on the trip and 2 others were there for their own content which is fine however they took up SO much space and ended up being in all of the pictures that everyone else was taking. It was disappointing that the crew couldn’t say “can you stay over there” or “we’re gunna take pictures” there’s so much space where the sharks were however this influencer decided to take up every single space where a shark decided to swim. Also considering he said that this was his 7th or 8th shark tour dive. We bought the photo package and they didn’t come within 5-7 days.. and they were average. Not worth the $85 they charged us. And you get charged via Venmo.

Outstanding shark swim in open water. Our safety was primary...the sharks were 5 to 6 ft long...approx 6 to 8. Saw a few dolphin....heard the orca underwater song. Really amazing.

Loved the experience. Small size - 3 guests and 4 crew. Crew was knowledgeable and supportive. Only saw one type of shark but there were plenty of them! Professional photos are available, but bring cash or access to Venmo. Event is three miles off shore so water can be choppy. Though the have a rope for you to hold onto when not free-diving, I recommend you be very comfortable in the water and able to swim. I'm not a fan of cage diving or feeding animals so they are closer to you. This was a natural interaction.

First time saw sharks up close. The experience was amazing and we felt safe with the safety diver. Very glad we didn't opt for a shark cage from another company.

Amazing experience!! The sharks were right there when we got to the point for snorkeling. We went into the water and it was just overwhelming to be with the sharks and see them so close. Definitely would recommend booking the photo option, the pictures turned out amazing!!

Just incredible. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to be humbled by these beautiful creatures. We were surrounded by approximately 16 Galapagos Sharks and at no point did I feel threatened. The staff and the photographer were incredibly professional and very informative. I highly recommend it if you can, do it!

We traveled and saw 15 sharks! Amazing!! I truly couldn’t believe that I was able to get in the water with them, and they made it happen.
