One of the most beautiful lookouts on Oahu, Makapu'u means 'bulging eye' in Hawaiian, named after a Tahitian god that lived in a cave in the area and possessed eight bright eyes.
Kakaʻako Waterfront Park, also known as "Point Panic Park", is a public park in Kakaʻako, south of downtown Honolulu with a beautiful spiral of Whales Chamber
Located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. This temple on O'ahu is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple, a United Nations World Heritage Site in Uji, Japan.
This is an ancient site associated in legend with the menehune, but later with high chiefs of Oʻahu, such as Kakuhihewa in the 15th century and Kualiʻi in the late 17th century.
On this windward side of Oʻahu you will earn the history of He'eia State Park, known as Keʻalohi Point, and the significant changes over the course of its storied history. This place is home to a number of indigenous and Polynesian introduced plants. You will see the oldest fish pond on Oahu, and learn about its significance.
The place of loving remembrance this is a memorial designed by the lineal descendants to accommodate Hawaiian ancestral remains. The Memorial is the first of its kind to offer permanent and dignified protection to generations of Hawaiian ancestral remains.

Keila (sp?) did a fantastic job. She took us from Waikiki to the Blowhole, Waimanalo, Bellows Beach, Byodo Inn Temple, and a beach park across from Chinaman's Hat. We also made a stop at the Tropical Farms Macadamia Nut store which was fabulous--she helped us get a taste of a fresh unprocessed macadamia nut but cracking the second shell with a rock on a stump. She was friendly and gracious and kept up a running commentary on Hawaiian history that was very informative and entertaining. We thoroughly endorse Keila, Simina (who helped organize it) and Viator. Mahalo you guys! It was the best tour we experienced in the Islands!
Ama was a great host, and as a native Hawaiian, he's a wealth of local and historical information. Highly recommend booking this tour!
The sites we saw were great. I learned a lot about Hawaiian spirituality. The guide knew a good deal about the various sites. However, she seemed a bit disorganized about what all we were going to see. Another thing was that when she wasn't telling us about sites while she was driving, she turned on the radio. LOUD. When she'd start talking again, those of us in the back couldn't hear what she was saying. We asked her several times to turn down the radio, which she did, then cranked it again when she wasn't talking. There is nothing wrong with silence when there's nothing to say. It gives the guests a chance to absorb the scenery and also be able to think up questions. The radio either shouldn't be on at all, or kept at a lower volume. The guide was very difficult to hear even when the radio was turned off as she's somewhat soft-spoken. It would help if she had a microphone like many of the other guides we've encountered. There are a variety of hands-free devices she could have used. It would have made the tour SO much better.
My husband and I have been coming to Hawaii for more than 25 years and more than half of the places we went to on this tour were places we had never seen before. It was Amazing and Eva’s knowledge and respect for these very special places was thoughtful and engaging.
Great tour, knowledgeable and welcoming guide. Lovely spiritual focus with stunning landscapes. We loved our tour, thanks Simina ; )
My sister and I had already taken a standard tour of Oahu but wanted a more peaceful and personal tour. We booked Off the Beaten Path Spiritual Tour and were not disappointed. Our tour guide, Leihoku met us at the Banyan Tree in front of the Honolulu Zoo. We traveled in a very comfortable Mercedes van. During the tour we visited many Historical sites and she gave us the history behind the Hawaiian Culture. At one of the locations we paused to give an offering to the gods. At another we took the time to meditate with her. All in all it was one of the most relaxing and informative tours I have ever been on. Thanks to Leihoku we left Hawaii with a vast knowledge and understanding of the Hawaiian Culture.
My mother and I booked a small group off the beaten path tour, and luckily ended up with a whole tour to ourselves. We learned so much about the island, its history, got to see beautiful locations and spiritually significant sites. Our guide Eva was wonderful, clearly appreciative of her surroundings and passionate about sharing her knowledge of the people and the land. 10/10 would recommend!
Eva met us at the zoo early in the morning. After introductions, we jumped into her car and she proceeded to take us around the the south-east of the island. Eva was extremely knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture, history, spirituality. Eva was accommodating, friendly, and showed us how to ring the bell properly at the Buddhist temple. The family enjoyed the day tremendously. I would recommend Eva to my friends and family and anyone coming to Waikiki. Thank you Eva!!!
Our experience on the Sacred Sites tour was nothing short of wonderful and extremely eye-opening. Our guide, Simina, was super knowledgeable and extremely friendly. She helped us understand the culture and history behind different religious and spiritual sites around Oahu. Being a tour of only three people, everything was super personalized and questions could be easily asked. We wish this experience was more popular, because we had the time of our lives!
Simina was patient, thoughtful and informative. She was attentive to our needs. Very security conscious. Perfect driver in our comfortable Mercedes’ van. She took her time to share the Hawaiian culture stories. What an amazing tour.
We really enjoyed our tour with our wonderful guide Kahu Kapiolani. This tour is perfect if you are interested in learning about Hawaiian culture. The focus was on visiting spiritual sites that you won't get on most tours of the island. Our guide was knowledgable about healing traditions, medicinal plants and Hawaiian mythology which made our tour feel very special and unique. The handwritten thank you note and small parting gift provided to each of us was a lovely touch.
Our tour included wonderful insights from our guide Simina and beautiful views of the island. Would go again and encourage others to explore the island’s spiritual heritage.
Leihoku was a great guide, knowledgeable and spiritually connected. She tailored the discussions to my spiritual interests and that made it amazing.
Our guide Simina was amazing. She was super knowledgeable and open to making different stops because our group was small. She made sure we were okay with all of the stops we made and made sure everyone was comfortable. Very cool to see some areas that are sacred to to natives.
We had a wonderful time on this off-the-beaten tour. Between the small group and hitting up sites that we wouldn't have ever found or gone, it's definitely something different from the standard circle island tour. Bring something for the possible chance of rain as you will be in the mountains.
My family and I went on a sacred sites tour and it was absolutely amazing. Even my father and brother who were not as interested in spirituality/meditation enjoyed the tour very much. Our tour guide, Simina/Leihoku was very knowledgeable about Hawaiian history and culture and told us many interesting stories. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oahu to better understand its rich and beautiful culture and to visit some of the most special places on earth.
My wife and I booked this spiritual tour prior to our visit to Oahu and we both agreed that it was absolutely the best way to experience not only the island but a tear jerking soul search as well. Semina ( Simina?) was our guide and along with her pleasant and informative assistant ( not even going to try to spell her name) we were given a behind the scenes, backstage pass to the REAL Hawaiian spiritual history and island culture. We were shown the popular tourist attractions of course, but then, well, we got our butts kicked... because just a few steps away from the crowd, and hidden away, the real tour began. Not at just one stop folks! Each and every stop we were surprised by the gradual immersing of opening our minds, our hearts, and our souls to the spiritual connections at the sacred sites. This tour is not an act or a show. If you can have an open mind and are searching for spiritual growth this is a bucket list item. Just yards away from us,all day long, other visitors were totally unaware the spiritual experiences we were having as are hearts were filled and our souls enriched. Special thanks to our guides for being flexible and giving us this opportunity to reach out spiritually and understand Hawaii. Lifetime memory.
Our tour guide Leihoku was incredible from the moment we met her! She was so passionate about each and every sacred site we visited. Her passion was contagious. She led us through two beautiful meditations. We ended the day with a deep spiritual appreciation for the Hawaiian Islands and all of her inhabitants. I can not recommend this tour enough. It truly was the highlight of my time in Oahu!!
Although I’ve traveled to Oahu several times to visit family, during my most recent trip I had the wonderful opportunity to experience the Oahu Small Group Sacred Sites tour. It was an incredibly powerful 5 hours of "seeing, hearing, and feeling" the heart, spirit, and soul of the island. The history and lore of these sites were brought to life by Simina, who was not only informative, but clearly respectful and appreciative of the richness of both. I had the unique opportunity to share this participatory tour with a phenomenal group of 3 ladies and 1 gentleman, who brought their own senses of spirituality to the magical places that we visited that day. While experiencing this tour, I was reminded of how important it is to honor the spiritual side of our world, wherever we may visit and wherever we may call home, and to always look for and appreciate the extraordinary in the ordinary-and the ordinary in the extraordinary. It’s been a plane ride and a few weeks back in Chicago since the tour, but this experience will remain with me for a very, very, long time. I recommend this tour to those seeking to learn [more] about sacred Hawaii, and those looking to uncover a little [more] about their own personal spirituality. Thank you Simina, my lovely group of friends, and beautiful Oahu for a stellar experience!
This was my second tour in 2 years and I was gratified that my own experience deepened my appreciation of the heart of Hawaii. We are more than sun, sand, and beaches. Our diverse cultures on top of the Hawaiian culture makes this tour a “must” for returning and first time visitors.
I took this tour together with some other ladies and we were a great group. Our tour guide Leihoku gave us the time to really enjoy every stop at sacred heiaus or places along the way. While driving we got all the information regarding the creation of the islands as well as a brief history of the islands, especially connected to the spiritual beliefs and early life in Hawaii. I recognized that these places were really hidden gems, as some of the participants were living in Hawaii, and even they did not know all the places we stopped. The combination of foreigners and locals was a great experience as you get a lot of knowledge, what living in Hawaii is about, which you normally would not get. The healing tide pools included a spiritual and cultural meditation and the Ulopo Heiau is very impressive. We also stopped at other great and wonderful beaches. Leihoku really adjusts well to their guests in regards to what they want and is very caring, so to let everybody feel this tour is just, what you were looking for. Pick up from hotel and drop off at hotel was easy. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water as it can be very hot and sunny and definitely bring a camera. We had lunch at Hare Krishna Temple and ate in the garden which was surprisingly cool, I can honestly say the food was so good, it was the best I had during my whole stay and the prize was very reasonable. I recommend this tour for people interested in the spiritual, cultural and historical life of Hawaiians, which is still dominant today. For example I learned that every new building to be built today gets a blessing at various stages by a Kahuna (Hawaiian Priest). The tour also gives you valuable insight about present-day life in Hawaii. A big Mahalo (Thank you in Hawaiian) to our tour guide Lehoku for that wonderful day! Rita from Germany rita.schmid@web.de
We took this tour by chance after meeting Simina. We spent around 5 hours touring the Sacred Sites, starting at Honolulu. Each one was carefully considered and the sense of chronology was powerful. Simina brings a lot of joy, Spiritual honour and so much knowledge. The tour shows a deep respect for these ancient sites and shows a very powerful side to Hawaii. It has certainly informed us to learn more. I strongly recommend this Tour and would go again whenever I am in Hawaii.
As a long time budhist and a spiritual practitionaire, this tour really touched my heart. All the sites we seen and the 2 meditatins we did plus the beautifull spiritual stories combined with hawaiian myths and legends shared by our knowledeable guide..everything created a beautiful, loving eperience. A must try!! Mahalo & Namaste
We have been regular visitors to Oahu for over 30 years. We thought that we had seen it all, done it all and got a t-shirt. However, only when we decided to try the Sacred Site Tour were we put right. None of the tours we have been on the island before gave us such a fantastic experience. We knew so little about the native people of Hawaii, their culture and spirituality and what happened to it since it has been westernized. Our guide Simina was an inspiration to listen to and a pleasure to be with. She made our experience truly memorable. If you are interested in the unseen aspect, this tour is a must. You won't be disappointed.
This excursion is highly recommended. The Guide took us to very special places. We went to a holy place and made a "sacrifice" here (flowers with food in them). We also went to a very large cemetery where all kinds of different cultures have their own place. There is also a beautiful Buddhist temple with a large gong and a very nice garden. We also went to the Hare Krisna for lunch. I would recommend this excursion to anyone who wants to see something different from the "ordinary" tourist spots.
