This tour was absolutely outstanding and ended up being one of the highlights of our entire Oahu trip. We were the only ones who booked that day, so it turned into a private tour with Troy, the owner, which made the experience even more special. From the moment we started driving up Old Pali Road through the Nuuanu Valley rainforest, it felt like stepping into another world. The canopy forming a tunnel overhead was magical, and Troy shared fascinating stories and history along the way. The stop at Nu’uanu Pali Lookout was breathtaking — sweeping views across the windward side, from Kualoa Ranch and Chinaman’s Hat to Kaneohe Sandbar and Kailua. Troy took time to explain the historical significance and made sure we had plenty of opportunities for photos. The Likeke Falls hike was a perfect balance of easy and adventurous. Walking under the rainforest canopy with the sounds of birds and rushing water was incredible, and getting up close to the waterfall felt intimate and unspoiled. Troy pointed out native plants, kukui nuts and ginger, which added a great educational element. We made many stops since there were only the 2 of us and we got thru the hiking portion quicker than if it were a large group. We stopped at Makapu‘u Point, where the coastal views were stunning — lighthouse trail, Sealife Park, Makapu‘u Beach, and even whale-spotting potential since we were in the right season... but alas... they were too shy that day. Then on to the Halona Blowhole, with the potential for dramatic ocean spray if the waves were running the right direction (they weren't), views of Sandy Beach, and a look down at famous Eternity Beach. What truly sets this tour apart is Troy himself. He’s knowledgeable, passionate, relaxed, and genuinely loves sharing Hawaii. He never rushed us, tailored the pace to our interests, and made the whole day feel personal rather than scripted. If you’re looking for an authentic, scenic, and memorable way to experience Oahu beyond the typical tourist stops, book this tour.

Great mixture of hiking and going to multiple scenic ocean locations. The guide was very knowledgeable of sites and local vegetation.
This was a great tour, Troy had lots of knowledge and was a great guide. Highly recommend! We were able to view many different beautiful locations.
Troy was a great guide, very knowledgeable about the island. The hike to the water fall was easy and nice. He is very friendly and kind. Highly recommended to everyone.
Great experience.. highly recommend.. we had a blast and got to see many beautiful sites on the island.. would do again..
He is amazing! Really knows the area and loves nature! Will recommend this to anybody that wants to see something real while in Hawaii! Thank you for the amazing experience!
"Amazing Experience." We booked the Nature Hike to Waterfall and immediately received a confirmation text with our pick-up time and location. Troy, our tour guide, arrived right on time at the front of our hotel. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and treated us like family. We passed by Diamond Head and made stops at Makapu‘u Point, Halona Blowhole, and Nuuanu Pali, with plenty of time to enjoy each spot. We never felt rushed, took in the beautiful sights, and snapped amazing photos. From there, we drove up Old Pali Road through the lush Muuanu canopy and arrived at the starting point of our hike. We trekked through the Muuanu rainforest — the kind of place you only see in movies. Along the way, we tasted wild Hawaiian red ginger, tried rare rainforest nuts, and ended at one of the large Likeke waterfalls. " Breathtaking. " The trail wasn’t paved, but it was easy enough that kids could do it. Tip: wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet and muddy. On the way back to the hotel, Troy suggested we try Asian Stix, Noodle Street — which I honestly believe had some of the best variety and flavor of Asian food we tasted during our trip. He even offered to drop us off there, which was the perfect way to end the day. Extraordinary experience — so glad we booked this adventure and that Troy was our guide. 5 stars. Highly recommended. Don’t hesitate — book it and enjoy!
Troy is an incredible tour guide! From the moment he picked us up to the moment he dropped us off, we felt informed, entertained, and totally at ease—like we were spending the day with a good friend. As a single mom traveling with kids, I felt completely safe and taken care of the entire time. My kids especially loved his fun facts about Japanese culture and K-pop (they’re still talking about it 😆). Troy’s knowledge of the island’s geography and history is seriously impressive, and he made every stop feel meaningful. We saw some of the most breathtaking sights on O‘ahu, and I’d absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the island.
Troy was GREAT! The tour totally blew our expectations out of the water. Our whole group agreed it was the highlight of our trip. Photos don't do the Lekiki Falls justice. Troy was such a a pleasure and such a genuine person. We can't recommend him enough! Thank You Troy!!
Believe all the reviews you read about Troy! He is a great guide, and it’s obvious he has a passion for what he does and for the area. He’s knowledgeable without being stuffy, and was able to adapt to what my family was looking for in our hike and tour around the island. It was an absolutely wonderful way to end our trip. Highly recommend!
Troy was super informative and friendly. The hike was as amazing as we hoped it would be and more! The waterfalls were breathtaking and stunning! The hike was a short, yet moderate hike. We are amateur hikers and managed just fine.
Amazing experience! We had so much fun. The hike to the waterfall was not too difficult (or too easy) for 50-something women and all of the stops to the different spots were breathtaking. Troy is such a great guide who added details along the way that we would never have known about. We’ll do this tour again next time we are back. We loved it that much!
Loads of marvelous sight seeing opportunities were packed into this amazing tour! And best of all, a great hike to a lovely waterfall! Troy was so knowledgeable and fun! You really MUST take this tour!
Great tour guide! Very knowledgeable of everything we saw. Guided us to the waterfall, skillfully, even though it was super muddy.
Troy was the absolute best tour guide our family has ever had. This was by far the best experience we have had thus far on Viator. Not even exaggerating it was 10/10! We plan to come back w/ our other 2 adult children and do any available tour Troy has running at the time. I can’t say enough about this experience, truly look no further book this tour as you will not be disappointed!
What an amazing tour!!! From start to finish, Troy was fantastic!! He was prompt and responsive. The tour was originally booked for a day after the storm had hit the island and he was courteous enough and thoughtful to mention the hike might have slippery and muddy areas. He even offered to show other highly sought out attractions in lieu if we decided to do something else. Since the hike and waterfall was a must see for me, I asked if we could move it up to Sunday. He was great about it and said it wouldn’t be an issue to move the reservation. We saw the most breathtaking views and took a gazillion pics of almost everything we could. The hike was the last thing we did and it was so well worth the wait! Troy was great about being so informative along the way with the rich history of the island. He shared his personal experience with us and why he chose the name YABAI HAWAII—pretty cool—I’ll let you ask him yourself when you book a tour! He is very helpful-even helped another couple on the hike with some questions they had and took pics when I couldn’t get to my phone, and helped me in steep, slippery areas. Oh and there was a Portuguese pastry that he encouraged us to try—do not leave this island without trying a bite!! The Dobash was divine!!! You will not regret booking a tour with Troy—he was great- and not to mention we felt like we lucked out and got a private tour since it was just my husband and I. We have already been talking about bringing the kids back and booking a tour with him in the future!
Great experience. The south shore is gorgeous. Troy was very interesting. Little more. Little little more more more
This experience was everything , beautiful places and a great time. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and a joy to hang out with. Going from place to place and hearing about the islands history was everything we wanted. The guide even took pictures of us while hiking and at all the spots so we didn’t have to worry about getting pictures. If we come back to Hawaii I would deff look him up and go with him again.
Troy was great from start to finish! We had a wonderful excursion with him. He was super informative and the hike was beautiful.
Great half day tour :) Enjoyable hike with a beautiful waterfall at the end. Troy, our guide was friendly, informative and helpful. The tour was at a relaxed pace and we were not rushed at all. Explored the south shore and finished up with some delicious malasadas! Highly recommend.
Troy was great! When he learned that we had already seen a couple of the places that he was going to show us on the way, he adjusted his plans and showed us different spots, even stopping so that we could get out and take pictures. The waterfall isn't a really big one, but it was pretty and it was a nice enjoyable hike to get there. Tip: bring sandals you can get wet. It was really nice walking around in the shallow pool at the bottom of the waterfall, but I did it without shoes, and those little pokey rocks were hard on my feet.
Such a great hike! We had an absolutely great day with Troy as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about Hawaiian history, culture, and plant life. We really enjoyed our hike and Troy got some awesome photos of us at the waterfall. Definitely worth it!
We had the most amazing adventures with Troy at Yabai. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Hawaii and the best sights to see. I would strongly suggest booking a tour.
My hike to the falls was amazing. Troy was very informative on the plants and the area. I had an amazing time hiking and exploring where he took me. There was plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the experience.I would totally recommend Troy to anyone who would like to experience the island on a more personal level.
When we went all the way to the top to see the waterfall Troy the tourist guide did a great job. Thank you Troy. We are coming back for sure.
Troy picked us up from the hotel and took us to Diamond Head and afterwards we hiked to a waterfall. On the way we stopped at various beautiful lookouts. It was a great experience - can definitely recommend ! Also, he has some good ideas when it comes to affordable accommodation on the island.
