This was an amazing experience. The food was great. Entertainment with the different dancers and light show was certainly memorable. Then it was at the Royal Lahaina resort we were staying on. I recommend anyone for this event!

Looots of dancing and an act with fire. Too expensive for what it was. Food was also a bit disappointing.
This is a very interactive informative trip down Maui’s history. We were fascinated by stories that were told through song and dance. The buffet was outstanding.
Seating was done easily, my two children and I got right in, the buffet was open immediately and the food was good, the bar was open bar, and we were able to eat and have drinks and then the show started and it was fantastic! We loved it!
Awesome show. Great food and experience.
We did the VIP experience. We had a great time at the Luau and the show was entertaining and informative about the Island’s history and culture. The food on the buffet was excellent as were the drinks. We had a gluten allergy in our group and it had a lot of choices for her. That day we had a lot of showers in full sun and halfway through the show it really started coming down. They immediately handed out rain ponchos and I don’t think I saw anyone leave; they just put them on and enjoyed the show.
⭐ 1/5 Stars – The Biggest Myth of Maui Is That This Experience Is Worth the Price! 🌺🍹 If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pay premium Hawaiian vacation prices for a budget buffet, uncomfortable seating, and a complimentary rum bath, look no further than the Myths of Maui Luau! Let’s start with the food. Apparently, the chef’s philosophy is that if something is worth cooking, it’s worth cooking until it loses all texture, flavor, and the will to live. Everything was overcooked, mushy, and remarkably disappointing. I’ve had better meals served on airplane trays. The cocktails were another adventure. I’m not sure what brand of alcohol they were pouring, but I’m fairly confident it came from the bottom shelf of the bottom shelf. When you’re paying this much for an evening in paradise, you’d hope the drinks would taste a little more like Hawaii and a little less like a college dorm party. Now, let’s discuss the chairs. I’m convinced they were designed by someone who has a personal vendetta against the human backside. After sitting through the evening, I was seriously considering whether my vacation insurance covered chiropractic care. And here’s a fun little surprise: there’s no protection from the rain! You’re in tropical Hawaii, where rain is hardly a shocking development, yet apparently a roof or covered seating area was considered an unnecessary luxury. Nothing quite enhances an expensive dinner show like wondering whether you’re about to become part of a tropical weather experiment. But the true highlight of the evening came courtesy of the guests sitting next to me, who accidentally spilled an entire drink into my lap. So, in addition to the mushy dinner, bargain-basement cocktails, and rock-hard chairs, I got to leave smelling like I’d personally wrestled a bottle of cheap Captain Admiral rum and lost. I arrived hoping to experience the magic of Hawaiian culture. I left smelling like a pirate, walking like I’d ridden a horse for six hours, and wondering where my money went. To be fair, the performers worked hard, and I appreciate the cultural entertainment. Unfortunately, the overall experience felt more like a tourist trap than a premium Hawaiian evening. My advice? Save your money, book a nice dinner somewhere else, and pour a cheap rum cocktail in your own lap. You’ll get roughly the same experience for a fraction of the price. 🌴🍹 Mahalo for the memories. My backside and my laundry detergent will never forget them.
The actually experience was excellent but the food was a 6 out of ten and the desserts were a one. As someone who has worked at a triple a 5 diamond restaurant inside a 4 star hotel I expected far more out of the food and drink. The box cake mix desserts were laughable and the drinks were terrible. It’s also disappointing not to get the experience the bbq pig in the ground. I have been to Maui before and my previous experience was much better. The actual entertainment part was excellent and the servers were excellent.
First time to Hawaii this is a must. The show was entertaining, good food and drink. My family aren’t big eaters so didn’t quite take advantage of the buffet but would have if able.
The show was amazing but the food was ok not many options
The show was okay, but I saw a much better one in Kona a few years ago. The food was just okay, the desserts were skippable, and the drinks were pretty average. The lighting in the photo they took was also so bright that it washed everyone out—even my mixed-race granddaughter’s natural skin tone looked white. For the price of the tickets, I expected more from the overall experience. I left feeling disappointed and didn’t feel it was worth what we paid.
Food was cafeteria grade Dishes not labelled and unrecognizable Excellent drinks though High energy performers Good MC
It was an amazing show! I loved leaning about the culture through storytelling, dancing and interaction with the crew. The food is amazing and the staff very talented.
We had a wonderful time! The show was very entertaining and educational at the same time. The food and drinks were great too!
The food was fantastic and the show was fairly good. I wish there was more to the pre-show like most of the other shows I have been to.
Everyone was cordial. Food was plentiful and tasty. Show was well done.
The Myths of Maui Luau was absolutely supreme! From the beautiful oceanfront setting to the spectacular performances, everything was perfect. The storytelling, music, and fire knife finale were breathtaking and kept us captivated the entire time. It is a fantastic, high-energy experience that beautifully showcases the culture. I recommend it to everyone!
We opted for the VIP tickets and had a front row view of the show with drink service. The food was actually very good, much better than I expected for a buffet. The show was entertaining. The drinks were very weak. It’s a must see if you are visiting HI for the first time.
The show was fair, the waitstaff was better than I expected keeping your drink full but the food was disappointing
We loved it! The show was excellent and the food was delicious. They event teach you how to dance. Overall, we really enjoyed it and had such a great time
Entertainment was great, venue, food, and other activities vendors just average. This was underwhelming other that the performances
We were on the Island during Hurricane Lowell therefore the high waves closed roads causing cancellations which worked in our favor for walk in VIP seats. We were front and center seats with a great view at our own table. Most tables are situated shoulder to shoulder and all include the buffet and drinks with the VIP having premium alcohol brands included which I strongly suggest. The mixed tropical drinks with house alcohol were “Horrible and Inconsistent”! Just looking at the tables many people were not drinking them! I tried three drinks and finally just settled on Jack and Coke for a reliable one! If you are depending on the waitress for drinks it will be slow service but you can go to the cabana bar and get the drinks yourself. The show was really good with live fire and a storyline narrated by the crew onstage to include music and dance. There is a great place to take video and pictures as the sun sets on the horizon so be ready and take them as the entire crowd Will eventually make their way to that side after seeing others. Be first and beat the crowd. It was a reasonable price for VIP with the show, seating and premium branded alcohol at $239.00 a person. I would not recommend the general ticket unless you don’t drink alcohol or care about having rows of people in front of you standing up and blocking your view regularly to get drinks and food.
Excellent show and food. Got the VIP experience and it made a difference. The dancers were AMAZING !Was super impressed and surprised by how very good they were. 5 men, 5 women doing special dances and a live band the entire time. Can’t say enough how great this was! Open bar as well. Wow!
Didn’t expect the prepared pork buffet style with a short showing of how the pig could have been done. Was looking for the genuine experience. The performances were great but the luau was not what I expected.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a great time at the Myths of Maui Luau! The entire evening was fun, entertaining, and such a great way to experience Hawaiian culture while visiting Maui. The performances were amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the food was really good with plenty to choose from. The performers were incredibly talented and kept us entertained throughout the night. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end and definitely a memorable part of our Maui trip. Highly recommend! 🌺🌴🔥
This show was fabulous! Went for my birthday and they really made it feel special for my friend and I. Many different cocktail options that were all good (from what I tried!) The buffet had many different options, ranging from traditional Hawaiian dishes to chicken tenders. The MC was a wonderful storyteller and the performers were awesome. We even got taught one of the dances. You could tell they loved what they do! Even our server was lovely and very quick at removing plates and checking if we needed drinks. When there are so many different options on island, the myths of Maui is the longest running and the best for a reason! Living from Haiku it was definitely worth the drive, so don’t shy away if you’re not staying at the Royal Lahaina.
My daughter and I decided to book a luau for the Hawaii experience. I had read the reviews of the show was good, but the food was mediocre. I wanted this location because it was close by the hotel we were staying at, so I decided to take a chance. The show was amazing. We did splurge and do the VIP so that we could get in and get seated sooner and get the food before anybody had really picked through it. It was totally worth the extra. The show was long. It was spectacular. It was very entertaining. Everyone was extremely talented in dancing, singing, and entertainment. I thought the food was great! It was very traditional, very fresh very flavorful and included fresh pulled pork, fish salad, fruit, chicken glass noodle dish that was amazing. I really like Asian food and really like Hawaiian food so maybe that’s why it was fantastic to me and my daughter. I’m not sure what the complaints were about. I 100% recommend attending this luau if you have never done one before.
It was very long wait for admission. They said 5 to 5:30 but they started admitting at 6. The food was average. The show was very nice and staffs were nice as well.
Did VIP ticket- worth it .. for early admission, front row tables, first class waiter Warren. First, food was really good esp for buffet style - lomilomi salmon, Mahi, kahlua pork, chicken , but the show was really special . What talent and authenticity. It didn’t feel “touristy” Go!
Family was very.happy, food is delicious and The staff is very friendly and patient. The show is phenomenal.
The show was very good and the entertainers were very talented. The food was good for buffet style. All of the staff were very warm, friendly and professional with the exception of the male bartender. He was rude, arrogant and a total jerk. Such a sharp contrast to everyone else who worked there.
This review doesn’t reflect the talent of the dancers and the experience of the show itself - I’d give that 5 ⭐ the welcome, their interaction with our children and the servers were great! This is only let down by the food - very poor so I’d suggest eat before, most plates on our shared table were left full! Seen some comments on the drinks but no issue here - good selection, short queue and table service. Still recommend it for the quality of show but don’t go there for dinner which makes the price disproportionate.
Try to look at the extended weather forecast as best as you can. It rained on a us a little bit they provided rain gear for us. Great, fun time.
Wonderful show and great food!! Even though we had rain due to Lala coming in it was still a great experience.
I wanted to love this. There were some good parts. My kids liked the dancing, we got leis. That was about the end of the good. This was the worst food I had in Hawaii. Chicken was dry. Pork lacked any kind of flavor. Our waiter guy asked if we wanted drinks, we requested soda..... it never came. At the very end he came back and asked if we wanted drinks which we again asked for cokes which we did get the 2nd time. I have been to many luaus and this one just doesn't come close to living up to the others I have been to. The dancers were ok but it felt like there should have been more entertainment while eating/getting food as the dancing did not start until later then when it did start they took a break....... they had just started. The dancers were not what I was expecting..... not like what you see at other shows. We ended up leaving early. Also they tell you to come early I assumed to get a seat..... nope it was assigned seating and we were as far back as we could get..... not great with 2 small kids who want to see and me being very short it was very hard to see the show. It was very disappointing. I would not go again, especially for the price paid.
We had the VIP experience, we had an absolutely fantastic evening, being greeted given garlands, we were shown to our table, Dina our server for the evening was great, always keeping us topped up with cocktails. The buffet was lovely, pleasant of food on offer. The background music was good adding to the atmosphere. The show was amazing, we both loved it.
I went in to this with no expectations as I have never done anything like this. I was absolutely blown away by the food, by the dancing, by the commentary, by the myths of Maui! My family and I (even the teenager) had an amazing time!
What a fun evening! From the very beginning when you’re seated by a gracious host to the final bows the evening is filled with positive energy. The luau food was a good variety and tasted great. They had a good variety of drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. The show was paced very well. A good variety of first stage as well as the sunset stage was utilized throughout the performance. Really like how it showcased all of the Polynesia.
Awesome show, great staff: the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that the ticket purchasing and signage at the venue was not clear where I should park. It left me concerned that I may be towed or ticketed. But the event far outweighed the issue with parking.
Beautiful views, amazing food and an incredible show. We had the VIP experience and had a great time. The dancers were amazing and beautiful and we highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience a fantastic luau.
The night of our show it rained the entire time. No weather apps, radar, etc indicated the weather was like this. We were given ponchos after standing in the rain to get in. Tables, chairs, food all soaked. Such an unpleasant experience. They should have cancelled but why would they when they already had our money. We left early because it was just no fun and especially with kids. We picked this one because of it being a buffet with kid friendly options. Would not recommend based on this greediness.
Food is mediocre. They don’t give you Leis. Everything is an extra charge. For the price you pay it’s worse than a chain buffet. It was raining and outdoors. The only redeeming factor was the actual show
The staff at the VIP entrance were rude and not friendly. The website states to arrive 45 min piror, which we did along with 2 other couples. We sat waiting and host came out and was like why are you here so early and said website is wrong (someone should fix it then). I asked if there was somewhere we could sit and have a drink to wait and was given short response of NO. Other couples arrived and lined up at the rope despite seeing the early arrivers sitting. When another hostess came out and began checking ppl in she didn't bother to ask who had arrived first. We all got in line and I went to the front to ask what the process was and at that point found out it was assigned seating. Why bother having VIP ticket holders arrive so early if their seating is already set? Once we entered everything was fine, servers came to table for bar service, covered snack at table, there were local vendors and photo opportunity. The weather wasn't cooperating with strong winds and then rain started during the show. They provided rain ponchos which helped and thankfully rain stopped in time for the fire show. The buffett was ok but the flies while eating were annoying. I definitely feel the whole experience is overpriced and was just ok. Not sure I would go back or recommend.
Definitely a good way to learn about Hawaii history. Only disappointing aspect was how fast everything was made unavailable like food or the people that did the temporary tattoos. By the time i got my first plate I was told the temp tattoo people left because there was noone else in line (not even an hour into the event). Food was great. I got two plates of food, several drinks and we paid extra to keep the photo they took. Kinda pricey to spend 212$pp but definitely a unique experience.
Make sure you find the VIP if you paid for it. We waiting in line for almost an hour before someone pointed us in the VIP direction. Not sure it was worth the money
We had a very mixed experience here. The entertainment itself was fantastic—no complaints at all, as the performers did an incredible job. The drinks were also fun and well-made. However, the logistics and food left a lot to be desired, especially at $200 per person. Our confirmation email stated gates opened at 5:00 PM and entry would begin at 5:30 PM. We arrived at 5:15 PM to secure a spot near the front of the line, hoping for a good seat. We weren't let in until 6:05 PM—a 35-minute delay. The most frustrating part was discovering that General Admission seating was actually pre-assigned. Despite standing in line for nearly an hour and being near the front, we were placed at the very back table. If seating is pre-assigned, the business should communicate that beforehand so guests don't waste valuable time standing in line. The food was also disappointing. The buffet items were generally bland, and the Kalua pork was dry and tasteless (I had to use quite a bit of BBQ sauce just to get through it). The desserts looked beautiful but lacked flavor. A great luau is about the entire experience, not just the show. They have the entertainment and drinks down, but the logistics and kitchen still have a long way to go to justify the premium price tag.
We loved everything about it! The dancers were great!
We had VIP seats and sat in front of the stage. It was an amazing show as well as educational.
Considering the show itself is pretty decent, this honestly felt like the biggest money-grubbing scam in Maui. Paid $200 per person for VERY long line waiting in the parking lot with no shade, only 2 people checking in hundreds of parties, drinks were AWFUL and slow to take your order or wait in a long bar line, FOOD WAS HORRIBLE - nearly inedible. Quantities were plentiful but I am telling you, TERRIBLE taste & quality. I feel bad for the very talented performers because all of their years of training and effort is being undermined by the rest of the experience.
Find out where you will be seated. We were seated next to the buffet line, the furthest away from the oceanside performances and given seats facing away from the stage. I was disappointed by our seating.
