Mermaid Ocean Swimming Lesson In Maui

Best day ever! My 2 friends and I (24 yrs old) booked this for a fun way to document our friendship. Aqua made the entire day so fun and magical! She is a real-life mermaid. She took her time to make sure we knew how to swim in the water correctly. She also made sure we got all the shots and videos we wanted.

My daughter as always been obsessed with mermaids. So I decided to treat her to Maui Mermaid School on our recent visit to Maui! This was, without a doubt, the most magical experiences of our entire Hawaiian vacation and a memory my 12-year-old daughter will cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, Aqua the instructor, made her feel so special. She was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely loving. Aqua didn't just teach her how to swim like a mermaid—she made her believe she was one. One of the absolute highlights of our trip. I am a mom and went with my two daughters, and it was such a fun and magical time — for adults and kids alike. Aqua is AMAZING. So skilled and experienced, so good with kids (my girls were OBSESSED with her), so fun to hang with, and a great photographer, to boot! This is absolutely a memory that we will cherish for a lifetime, and we hope to return to our mermaid forms every time we have the good fortune to return to Maui. And, on top of all that, we get to relive the experience and revisit Maui when we look at the photos and videos she captured. She clearly loves her work, and it really shows. She made it so easy — she provides the tails and the masks and the adventure! All you have to do is get yourself there and be ready to soak in some magic. Aqua is the best!

What a fun adventure. Aqua is the kindest person. She's patient and encouraging and we had so much fun learning how to swim with a monofin tail. We went as a group of 3 adults and two kids (12 and 9) was great for all ages. We also had Sky as a support for our group and he was so lovely, taking photos and then dragging our son around on a paddle board letting him 'snorkel' from the paddle board when he got too cold to stay in the water. He showed him eels and reef fish and that allowed the rest of us to focus on the mermaid lesson knowing that our son was well looked after and perfectly happy. The kids want to do it again!

I’ve always felt that I was a mermaid in my heart. For two hours, I got to make that dream come true thanks to Aqua. She was patient, kind and absolutely an amazing instructor and I can’t thank her enough. Follow the call of the ocean and be prepared for a perfect day.

Makena Bay is a beautiful paradise, the water was calm and clear. I enjoyed myself so much in the ocean, and this lesson brightened my day and highlighted my trip to Maui. Had such a wonderful experience with Aqua. Although we could not do the underwater photography due to safety concerns with the rough waves, we pivoted and did a beach/rock photoshoot. Felt magical in a tail, and very supported and uplifted by Aqua's instructions and cheerleading. Highly recommend the experience to anyone, you will be in safe hands with her.

Absolutely fabulous! I went into this not really knowing what to expect, just that my daughter thought it looked fun. I left after a completely wonderful experience and photo memories to last a lifetime. I would highly recommend this experience!

This was such a fun day my seven-year-old absolutely loved it. I even partook in the experience as well. The photo shoot was great and swimming in the water even saw a turtle great area for the excursion and aqua. The instructor was lovely. Highly recommend for a lasting memory and lots of fun!

Our daughters have been wanting mermaid tails since they were young. At 12 and 13 we signed them up with Aqua as a surprise. She was soo professional, enthusiastic, and instructive. The girls had the best time and did amazing in the open water. The pictures and videos Aqua sent the next day were incredible. The girls wanted to go back the next day for an advanced lesson but our schedule didn’t allow it. Don’t hesitate. Book this experience!!!! Feeling like we need to return to Maui just for another lesson with Aqua!

My granddaughter was in heaven with Aqua’s lessons! Aqua was so patient, charming, and a fun teacher. Grace was thrilled when Aqua taught her a few advanced moves too. She now thinks she’s a professional mermaid! Mermaiding was a dream come true for Grace! Thank you Aqua!!

It was a great experience. Aqua was great. She talked about her experience as a mermaid, talked about the products we were going to use and how to use them along with the steps we were going to do to become mermaids. Her guidance through the whole process and the activities was right on.

My girls and I loved this excursion so much! Aqua made it easy to organize. She was kind, patient, and encouraging with the swim lesson. She found ways to include my youngest mermaid (5yo), despite not being a strong swimmer. My girls cannot stop talking about their mermaid experience.

Our 6 year old daughter had an AMAZING time learning to swim like mermaids with Aqua. This was our second time with Aqua as our daughter loved it so much last year she wanted a repeat mermaid experience. Aqua is great with kids and knows how to make them feel comfortable taking photos and swim in the water. The photos and videos are high quality and we enjoy them very much. I had the best morning ever with Aqua! I had looked forward to this mermaid experience for awhile and I highly recommend maui mermaid school. I felt so safe in the water, the area we swam in was calm and protected with perfect turquoise water and many turtles too! This is really an amazing experience and my husband had a blast snorkeling alongside me. Thank you, cant wait until next time!

Booked this experience for our grand-daughter’s 6th birthday. Although she was hesitant about swimming in salt water, Aqua was amazing with her. Very enthusiastic yet calming. After reassuring us that her safety was her first concern, she gradually introduced her to the ocean and had her swimming like a mermaid in no time. Our grand-daughter had a wonderful time and absolutely loved Aqua. Would definitely recommend Aqua with children.

What a fantastic experience! I gifted this to my daughter for her 7th birthday and she had a blast! I was hesitant to book it as she is still a very new swimmer and doesn't swim in the ocean often, but she was taken care of every step of the way and had so much fun. I didn't want her to do the swimming by herself as I knew she would be nervous being in the ocean, so I decided to join her for the experience and I am sure glad I did. We had such a nice time spending time together as mother - daughter and Aqua was amazing. She clearly loves what she does and made it such an enjoyable experience. She even gifted my daughter with the sweetest pearl and shell necklace that she refuses to take off now. :) Don't hesitate to book this; you won't regret it!

We booked this for my best friends birthday. If you truly want a real mermaid experience just book it. Aqua and Sky are such amazing teachers and make you feel so confident. I will look back on these photos for the rest of my life. It’s a magical, life changing experience and I am so grateful.

My two girls, 9 and 6, had an amazing time at their mermaid swim lesson with Aqua. It was the standout activity of our Maui trip. It’s truly a talent to teach so well. Add teaching kids to swim in a monofin in the ocean and take amazing pictures and video and we appreciate our teacher Aqua even more! Everything was smooth and well thought out; from our online booking, Aqua’s monitoring ocean conditions, meeting at the beach and her ocean setup. My daughters said that the monofins were so easy to swim in! Taking photos was very fun!🧜‍♀️

Mermaid Aqua made the experience so special for my daughter and put my worried mama mind at ease with her attention to safety. Long ago my daughter told me she felt more comfortable in the water than on land and now we know why…she is a mermaid and Aqua helped her to find that out. Hands down the best thing we did on our trip.

Mermaid Aqua: thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Our transformation to mermaids was an experience which moved us in ways we couldn’t have possibly imagined. This expression of a childhood dream-come-true was made possible because of Mermaid Aqua’s exceptional skill in crafting a day of fun, joy, beauty, energy, and compassion. She put impeccable detail into the fitting of our tails, took lots of photos and video, and created a lovely post-swim photo package. But the true gifts of this session surfaced once we were in the water: Aqua knew just how to build our confidence step-by-step, and before we knew it, we two merfolk who are circling 60 years old were swimming confidently in our tails in 15’ of ocean water, making exhilarating dive over exhilarating dive. We knew our safety was ensured due to her considerable training in safety and rescue. Aqua took her time and really got to know us: she’s the real deal! This effervescent soul is so passionate about mermaiding; what a delight it’s been to get to know someone so fabulous and with such generosity of spirit, a truly sparkling soul we hope many others will have the blessing to meet. Night before Aqua reached to us with detailed questions to assure that next day will go smooth and without wasted time. She met us punctually and we were lucky with great weather and excellent underwater visibility. First we did photo shoot on the beach and than moved into and under water. It is a great plus if you/child are already familiar with monofin as you will than fully enjoy the experience (consider buying one and training few days before). Within couple days after the experience photos were ready and family was "laughing". Long story short during our next visit in few months we already plan to repeat this and possibly take it step further.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Mermaid Aqua! She made it a memorable experience for our whole family. I had a magical session! This was my first time in a mermaid tail, I am 43, and I was by myself—so, I was a little nervous. But it was awesome! Mermaid Aqualina of Maui Mermaid School was a fantastic instructor—very professional, conscious of safety, and welcoming. She made me feel comfortable first of all. Plus, she was so kind, encouraging, and generous. She ensured I had an uplifting experience, and despite me being a bit awkward, I felt like an underwater goddess. Additionally, Aqualina started the session with a photoshoot on the sand and took tons of videos in the water, which she shared with me for no extra charge. I am so happy I signed up. I felt like I gave myself a gift—a unique and joyful experience in beautiful Maui. I highly recommend Maui Mermaid School!

I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this and was a little scared about our kiddos swimming in a constricted suit. We have three girls between the ages of 8-9 and they love mermaids. By the end of the lesson, I loved mermaids too. You might think it’s expensive, or not necessary… but our instructor made this a real experience for the girls and was absolutely amazing. Our girls are still talking about being mermaids and practicing their mermaid techniques in the water. Aqua made sure everyone was safe and had fun. (for those skeptical of the safety aspect, there is a 10ft surfboard anchored to the spot the photo shoot takes place… and of course, parents are allowed to come in the water too. It’s shallow enough to stand) The photos are spectacular; it will be hard to choose which ones to print and hang in our daughters bedroom. I would recommend this activity for anyone who wants to experience something special.

Where I am from, mermaiding isn’t very accessible, so despite wanting to give it a shot for the longest time, I’ve been putting it off. When me and my husband decided to spend our honeymoon in Maui, mermaiding was the first activity I started googling! We stumbled upon Maui Mermaid School and booked a private lesson together. I could not have been more happy with this choice! Aqua, was not only the sweetest person, she was an amazing instructor as well! She is a mermaid, through and through, even down to the colors of her Jeep! We got a bit of information about the hobby and the community of mermaids and Aqua gave us important instructions about safety in free diving. Before we got our fins wet, Aqua took some cute pictures of us by the beach. She also filmed us while we were swimming around under water and the videos are so much fun to rewatch! Aqua matches the class to your comfort level of swimming. If you feel like you can take on a challenge, she will teach you rolls and flips under water after the basic exercises have been covered. If you are curious about mermaiding, please give Maui Mermaid School a try! I can not stress enough how much of a magical experience this was for me. I wanted to be like the little mermaid ever since I saw the movie as a little girl and now finally my dream came true.
