Viator charged us for the premium experience & we got the lesser(normal) experience. The food was mediocre. I expected chucks of roasted pig.
The Luau was the best we have seen on Maui. Food was great staff was friendly we had an amazing time
Purchased premium seating over 7 months in advance through their own website and was seated in the worst seats. I was shocked when we arrived and the premium line was as long as the general line. They say your seating is based on when you book which, to me, means the earlier you book the better your seats will be. The diagram of the seating on their website is not accurate. It looks like there will be one row of premium tables that do not extend beyond the stage but there are in fact 2 rows of LARGE tables that DO extend well beyond the edge of the stage for premium. Of course we were seated at the very end of row 2 which apparently means everyone else in premium bought their tickets 8+ months out. OR they lie about how seating is done. This was a birthday gift for my mom's 70th and watching her crane her neck to see around people and their phones being held in the air was very disappointing. The food was decent I guess. There is no pig roast. They bring a pig out that they say was roasted earlier and our pork for the night has already been prepared but I'd be willing to bet it's not even real. They run the pig through the audience and then it's gone. No knife show. Fire "show" is a couple minutes at the very end. Overall the show is quite boring. Would not recommend.
I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. The show and food were amazing! Not as big or as many dancers as expected. The serving staff were friendly and attentive. The waiting area to get into the show was very hot and little communication about the process. Overall a good experience. The cost was worth it as there was plenty of food and unlimited free beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
We are staying 15 minutes away in Maui. Free parking in the Westin garage. 2 of us went. Got in line at 5:00. Got “lei-ed” as per usual luau custom, and with the maroon orchids as per usual. Seated with 6 other people at a 10-person table, the front left empty for ease of performance viewing. There appeared to be several hundred guests, with about 1/4 kids. A lot of guests dressed in colorful Hawaiian tourists attire. Our cheerful and efficient waiter,,Torren, plied us with drinks, which were included. Non-alcoholic options too. By 6:30 it was our table’s turn to get in the buffet line. We were one of the last tables to the chow line. There was an impressive variety of food options. I skipped anything raw fish. I thought the food was good. There was a dessert area made available too, which was ok. Of lesser quality than the dinner. At 7:00 the lights were dimmed and the performance and volume increased in intensity. A nice variety of dancers; hula, fire, etc, and Hawaiian history and lore mixed in. Multiple costume changes. Live music with ukuleles and drums. They did a nice job. Birthday and anniversary guests were honored, with the house lights back on. Full embarrassment or enjoyment. Aloha at 8-ish and we made our way back to the parking garage.
Beautiful experience. The food was delicious. Service was top notch. Thank you for showing us your amazing culture.
Music was so loud gave me a headache and the odors from the what I can only assume was the food wormer made me sick.
Cancelled the booking muliple times at last minute. We had to book other Luau at higher price.
The Wailele Luau was a wonderful experience, including for the small children in our family of eleven. The food was excellent and the children's menu and buffet area were so good and fun for them, with buffet tables just their height. The emcee, Dwayne (sp?), was really good, with great narration delivery and excellent interaction with the audience. Our table hostess, Lorraine, was simply the best and she really enhanced the whole experience for us. This luau also had a nice arrangement with part of the seating area covered in case you wanted to get out of the rain sprinkles.
The wait in line to enter was extremely long for no reason. It said the show started at 5:30 but we didn’t get seated until 5:45. A bunch of dead time nothing going on but background music until 6:30. The show was too spread out for high cost. Been to other luau that were action packed from the start time until the break for the dinner and resumed the action afterwards. This was a very long and drawn out show. I would not recommend.
Email directions stated to arrive at 5:15 for a start time of 5:30. We were lined up and stood in a very warm outdoor hallway until 5:45. We chose Ohana seating which did not give us the upgraded seating or two additional snacks. Our seats were perfectly fine. Although I did need to turn my chair to watch the show. We were sat at a table of 8. We requested some additional pineapple since we were given a small bowl for eight people. We were informed that they ran out. Really???? The drinks were flowing freely. As a non alcoholic drinker I requested a Diet Coke. When the server brought it. It was clearly very flat. She brought me a can, but said there were no more. After getting my meal I asked about another soda and the bartender said that the management knew for a week that the soda was flat but did nothing about it. This was very disappointing. The buffet was underwhelming. The food was over salted and all tasted the same. Honestly, my highlights were the chicken dish and the ube roll. However, the highlight of the evening was the show. The emcee did an excellent job with telling the story of Hawaiian history, the dancers were wonderful and the fire show was amazing. If you are going for a authentic luau experience you will be disappointed but if you are going for an amazing performance you’ve found your place!
The fire show was really cool once it got to it at the end of the night but the ambiance was like a banquet/community center not everyone had a view of the show, the decor/vibe was very plain, and you couldn’t see the ocean or sunset. The food was a buffet which was cold once it was our turn. They also had a photographer which came to our table to encourage us to take a picture & we thought a picture may be included for the price but it was $30 for 1 photo. I think if this was half the price it’d make more sense but it’s the same price as some really amazing ones I’ve been to.
The show was great, but the food was awesome!! Poki was fresh and alcoholic drinks were flowing. Staff were very friendly and were on point for everything you needed.
What an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious and the show was both fascinating, entertaining, and educational all rolled into one…a “must see”!! A+ rating
Beautiful !!!! Lots of energy !! Me and my family couldn’t stop watching ! We will be back ! Thanks for a great show
OK food, good show and dinner area, very good fire performance. Photography available. Usual nick- nacks for sale.
Sadly, our experience wasn't great at the luau. We purchased the premium seats as we were returning to the Westin for our anniversary and were excited to have the extra amenities advertised on the website. From the website: Highlights Premium seating will also includes: Early access to the luau A glass of sparkling wine hosted by Valley Alley Local Ohana style snacks at each table Upon our arrival, we were seated at table 13 which was next to a pole making it difficult to see the stage, we did not get early access to the luau, did not receive a glass of sparkling wine, and our table had the same snacks that all the other tables had. Most of the amenities that were advertised to be included with the premium seat extra cost were not provided to us. The food was good okay but be cautious of the chicken. It was the only item that my husband ate and I didn't. During the show, he started feeling queasy, and when we got back to our hotel, he got sick. The show was good, the dancers were very talented. It was different than the luaus that I've seen before, more emphasis on the male performers versus the female dancers. I did reach out to the Westin to inform them of my experience, I never heard back from anyone.
The Luau at the Westin was a great ‘finale’ on our last night on the island. Rich in tradition the luau was fun, mesmerizing, and helped us learn more about the history/culture through the story. The food was very good (especially the pork, the fish, and the short ribs) as was the atmosphere… come hungry! The desserts were good but not great. The event kicks off at 5:30, you start eating at 6:45, and it wraps before 9pm. The finale with the fire is excellent.
It is the best luau in maui. I have been to several here over the last 25 yrs. The show is captivating! The music and dance of the Hawaiian culture is beautiful. The food is diverse. My favorite is the hawaiian macaroni salad. I have been to this luau 3x over the past 10 yrs. Enjoy!🩷
Food was inedible, there was a paper wrapper in the fish. Dessert was sub par. Photos were very expensive. Dancers were good. I would not go to this luau again, save your money and go elsewhere.
Great show, great food and great service. Family friendly and beautiful. Definitely a must do on the island.
The venue was quaint, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a perfect size. We bought Ohana seats and IMO they were just as good as Premium. The food was amazing!!! Our server made sure we never had an empty drink. It did rain but that didn't slow down the entertainment, they were first class. It is a lot of money to spend but well worth it especially for my daughter and it being her first time. Thank you for an amazing experience!
The food and drinks were really good. Desert was delicious! The performances were amazing and the story of Maui is a lot of fun!
Excellent Luau, exceeded our expectations!!! The views, emmersion in culture, songs and dance took our breath away.
A definite MUST DO! Knew I was wanted to do a luau as it was our first time in Hawaii. Checked through a few on line I THINK WE MADE A GOOD CHOICE
We waited for the rain to end then sat at a wet table with dead gnats, wet utensils and table cloth, and puddles of water. There should be canopies for wet weather. It was very uncomfortable which made it difficult to enjoy the show.
Excellent food. Would recommend showing up hungry. Great luau for families. The fire show finale was very entertaining.
This was a great experience. I loved how they did intros to the different dances and then started the show with story telling and dancing. Food was great, open bar was nice. There was also several vendors to purchase Hawaiian items. The show was fantastic
I had not been to a luau since I was a teen in 1991 and they've come a long way. The performance was spectacular. Even my teenage sons were entertained. Everything from the live music to the narrator to the dancers. The buffet was really good! All the protein dishes were excellent--especially for a buffet. The sides were just OK. The drink selections were limited but decent. My biggest complaint was the heat. It was a hot day and there are a lot of people and body heat making the evening quite warm--dress accordingly. I highly recommend this experience--especially for teens.
Having experience other luaus, we (to our own fault) were under the impression that like other luaus, we would be able to go early and go get a drink. We were a little surprised to find that this was not the case. The weather is of no fault to the staff but it is extremely hot and humid under where the line is. We arrived to find two lines- ones for “Ohana” and one for “VIPs”. We found out quickly that Ohana is very ironic as, no, you are not treated like family. The VIP line was greeted at 5:35 PM- (show start time 5:30). The staff decided that the VIP line in its entirety should go in first. People started to figure out that no one was checking who was in the VIP line because they don’t scan tickets, they simply just ask for your name while you’re standing in line and you get a pretty postcard with your group info on it. So the law abiding citizens wait their turn in the sweltering heat while ALL the VIPs are taken first and then when a good quarter of the Ohana line figured out the VIPs were being lead to their seats without anyone checking, they hopped lines and no one noticed. We brought it to staff attention and they were “unaware” and uncaring. Standing in our own line, we were seated 10 minutes later. We were brought to a beautiful tablet. The landscape and surrounding area is beautiful. I can’t say there are no bad tables in the house because several are behind a pole that block the view. The performances were beautiful and entertaining. The VIPs got a spread of three appetizers while our “regular- $250 a person” table got pineapple. The food was an excellent spread for everyone with a whole section just for kids with good food choices. The bar selection was great. It is just hard to get past how we were treated and felt like “peasants” at the entrance when we paid so much $ per ticket. I sadly would not recommend this luau. You will be treated better elsewhere- and I say that knowing I didn’t even see an option for a VIP ticket. My opinion on how to improve the experience—- treat it like Disneyland and take some from each line as you go- not ALL one line then all the other OR put someone there to ensure the VIPs are truly what they paid extra for. I sadly cannot recommend this. The way the staff treated us at the gate left a bitter taste the whole rest of the evening.
Great experience. Very patient staff and flexible. Amazing show. The kids were amazed. The best part, they had a kids buffet and for adults free drinks. Overall great experience.
Very exciting Luau. Was like 2 1/2 hours. The show was great. Good music. The food was excellent. Got free drinks. Was able to see the show. Very comfortable and spacious. All the staff did an excellent job. Great performers.
In my opinion, the event started too early. My family and I basically sat there for an hour with nothing to do before food was ready. Only appetizers that were provided were a few pieces of pineapple and edamame. Service was not great. Seating was outside located in a pavilion which provided little to no breeze so made it very uncomfortable. The food was pretty good. Dessert was lacking with very few options. We also had to share a table with another family, which we were not aware we had to do when when we paid for premium seating. Also, my seat was probably one of the worst in the pavilion considering I had to turn around every time someone was on the stage. the price wasn't nearly worth it.
The show was very energetic and entertaining. We loved the storytelling, the fire show and the food! Our group ranged in age from 11-72 and everyone loved it!
The show was awesome, a lot of food and drinks. Seating is assigned so there’s really no reason to wait in line at 5:30. There is plenty of time before dinner and the show once your group is seated. They take pictures and you can shop for some Hawaiian swag. I don’t think I saw the knives but the show was still entertaining, interesting and informative
The artistry and storytelling of the performance was amazing!! Beautiful to watch and provided great historical context. Food was delicious for a buffet style. Servers were attentive and friendly. I would have preferred a more natural setting as opposed to this staged venue
Dancers were really great -- both the men and women had a ton of energy and the MC dancer was top notch with his explanations and information. The evening begins with drinks (open bar), selling of Hawaiian goods and trinkets, and professional photos, all of which is fun. Next, the dinner buffet is enormous and plentiful, pretty good quality for mass quantity buffet. Also a very tasty dessert bar. But for sure the highlight was the dancing, which happens after the sun goes down. We were near the front but by the side so we could watch the band as well -- the drummers and the musicians were really talented. The dancers were amazing!! It was our first luau so we are not experts, but we thoroughly enjoyed the show -- the dancers were putting in 100% effort, so impressive.
Wao amazing!! We are in the incorrect hotel arrive just in time and the service and attention was espectacular!!!
This is a very boring luah. There is no knife show and the fire part is the last 2 mins. Literally falling asleep. Food is okay but good option for kids. Easy to access if on the resort but in Honolulu had one of the most fun and intricate outfits and story telling luah so this was just disappointing. No cool outfit changes or even upbeat performances. Wouldn’t waste my money on it
I traveled with my family (very young children) and it was a great experience! The storytelling, the dancing, the music... Everything was so moving. Everyone clearly enjoyed their role in the event- including our server who was asking about our travels and was open to recommending local attractions! We were greeted with a free Mail Tai or non-alcoholic beverage and a lei! That was lovely! The food was the only negative part of this review was the food. The adult food options were definitely abundant. However, I just felt like everything was very very salty. The meat options and the fried rice- I get it, but it was eating the ocean. The performers were just marvelous though. And I certainly felt an appreciation for the culture.
Arrive early and book early. Seating is arranged by your booking date. Great show and food. Excellent service
The show was outstanding, dancers great. Location was confusing, there are two Westins in Maui. The food was good, plenty of free drinks available. It was a highlight of our trip.
Amazing food and truly an amazing experience getting to see the Hawaiian culture. It is worth the money in my opinion. We got lucky and had wonderful seats as a non-premium tickets. I could see some people likely had some slightly obstructed views, but like I said we got very lucky as they pick your tables for you. Fire dancers were amazing!!
The show was great - fire dancers were awesome! Food was very good and service was great. No issues at all with the event itself. However, confirm the show time before you go - Viator said it started at 5:00 so we arrived at 4:30 to be sure we could park and be on time. Upon arrival we were told doors open at 5:30 and show started at 6:10. It was hot and there wasn’t anyplace cool that we could sit and wait. Would’ve been nice to have less time to kill beforehand.
Our group recently attended the Wailele Luau at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Maui. From start to finish, the evening was exceptionally well organized and exceeded our expectations. We opted for the Premium Luau package and felt it was well worth the additional cost. The open bar included a variety of premium beverage options at no extra charge, and the service was attentive throughout the evening. The food was outstanding. Dinner was served banquet-style and featured a wide variety of traditional Hawaiian and island-inspired dishes, all of which were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The culinary experience was truly top-tier and far better than what we’ve come to expect from most large-scale dinner shows. Families traveling with children will appreciate the separate keiki buffet, which included kid-friendly favorites such as macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza, salad, and fries. It was a thoughtful touch that made the experience enjoyable for guests of all ages. The entertainment was absolutely fantastic. The performers were energetic, talented, and professional, and the show was beautifully choreographed. The cultural presentations were engaging, and the production quality was excellent from beginning to end. The finale was especially memorable and did not disappoint. There was also a small craft vendor area offering locally inspired gifts and souvenirs, as well as a professional photographer available for family photos and keepsake pictures for an additional fee. If you’re visiting Ka’anapali and considering a luau, this one is easy to recommend. Great food, premium drinks, excellent entertainment, and a beautiful beachfront setting made for a memorable evening. We would absolutely do it again on a future visit to Maui.
4 stars instead of 3 because the performances and performers themselves were truly amazing! However, I don’t feel like this experience was worth the money. I expected the 5:30 start time to mean performances would start pretty soon after that, but there wasn’t much of anything going on until much later than the start time. Entry into the pavilion area didn’t start until 5:30. Overall, the ratio of performances to breaks, downtime, and time spent in the buffet line was very low and I expected more actual entertainment time for my money. It was nice that drinks were included and they were as expected for an open bar, but the food was just alright. If I returned to Maui and wanted to do a luau again, I would choose a different one.
Very good food and great entertainment. Tables and area were very upscale. They can move a lot of people in very short time. Staff extremely personable. Well worth the money
Amazing show & hospitality! Loved the lei & food was good ! Show was amazing only thing i wish they had a whole roast pig instead of the kalua pork .
Great show & yummy food. The check-in was a little slow but the fire🔥performance was worth it. The Emcee was a natural & the Hawaiian band with the singing & instruments was wonderful.
