This was amazing and even more amazing was our guide John! He told us the history of the island, and he was so friendly and helpful. This was the best way to tour the island and to see one of the most beautiful places on earth! I definitely don't recommend trying to see it on your own. Call John!

The Hana Highway is a 64.4-mile-long (103.6 km) , longest, coastal scenic route in the world. To the east of Kalepa Bridge, the highway continues to Kipahulu as Hawaii Route 31 (the Piilani Highway). This tour covers 59 single lane bridges, over 640 turns and curves, through lush, tropical rainforest. Most of the concrete and steel bridges date back to 1910
Just four miles into your drive to Hāna from Kahului, you'll discover the historic town of Pāʻia on Maui's north coast. Divided into Lower Pāʻia and Pāʻia, this hospitable community was once a booming plantation town during the heyday of Maui's sugar cane industry. Today Pāʻia is a town of colorful, rustic storefronts filled with local art galleries, one-of-a-kind shopping boutiques and restaurants.
Ho'okipa Beach is considered the windsurfing capital of the world, you can enjoy watching wind surfers, kite boarders and surfers challenge the oceans waves and shoreline winds. This is also the Threatened Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle capital of Maui, with 200-pound turtles feeding along the shoreline and basking on the beach all day long.
Twin Falls is the first easily accessible string of waterfalls and pools on the Road to Hana
Haipua'ena Falls is a small waterfall and pool along Maui's popular Road to Hana. Thanks to the unsigned trail and short hike over an often muddy path, the pool receives far less visitor traffic than the well-signed falls along the route.
Small Hawaiian villages doing their best to live like the Hawaiians of old. Hunting pigs and growing taro, bread fruit, and Bananas are all big parts of everyday life in this small community. It’s also the site of the famous Half Way to Hana Snack stand; shave ice, fresh coconut, cold drinks and of course the Original Fresh Baked Banana Bread. The Keanae overlook and peninsula offer views of one of the largest taro farms in Hawaii.
In 1983, Aunty Sandy Hueu began to bake her famous banana bread in Keʻanae, Maui. In 2003, her daughter Tammy joined the business to create an authentic family owned and operated food stand on the Keʻanae peninsula. Since then, Aunty Sandy's has become a must stop destination for hot, fresh baked banana bread.
Very photogenic spot to get photographed doing something life threatening.
Upper Waikani Falls is often referred to as Three Bears, thanks to the three separate but parallel falls of differing lengths—with the third and smallest being the “baby bear” falls on the right.
Wailua Falls is a picturesque, yet very easily accessible waterfall visible from The Hana Highway. You don't even need to get out of your car to see it!
Lava tubes are formed when massive flows cool on the surface forming an insulating conduit for the lava flowing underneath. During the creation of Maui’s volcanic landscape these served like the veins of the volcano, channeling lava for many miles underground before being deposited as new landmass (in this case, into the ocean.) After a volcano has been dormant for some time, these tubes usually begin to cave in and disappear under the forces of nature. Since much of the surface of Maui formed long ago, we have few lava tubes of significant size remaining; Ka’eleku Cave is the largest known accessible lava tube on Maui.
ocated within Hana Bay is Hana Beach Park, which has a long black-sand beach and is the safest swimming beach along the East Maui coast. The bay is protected by a coral reef and harbored from big swells by its curved shape.
Wainapanapa is Maui’s famous Black Sand Beach. Cobalt blue Ocean surrounded by black sand and black lava rocks from a recent flow only 10,000 years ago. Go for a walk along the edge of the bay and check out the blue water or just sit under a nice shade tree. This location is a great place to spend an hour relaxing, taking in one of the islands most beautiful locales. Simply stated, Wai’anapanapa State Park is among the very best of the Road to Hana sites. It offers outstanding nearly 360-degree sweeping panoramic views. On land, the hills and valleys of green jungle give way to rugged and dramatic black basalt lava coastline. Out to sea, the deep blue ocean and white cresting waves are dramatically blasted into spray and mist as they pound against the jagged cliffs.
It is fairly easy to access the waterfall from here. Some people like to take a dip in the chilly waters by the waterfall and on a hot day. Wear swim suit layered and bring change of clothes. Don't forget the towels.
Located just beyond Mile Marker 19 on the mauka—or mountain side—of Hana Highway, Upper Waikani Falls is often referred to as Three Bears, thanks to the three separate but parallel falls of differing lengths—with the third and smallest being the “baby bear” falls on the right.
Wailua Valley is an ahupuaʼa that sits just after the Keanae peninsula on the road to Hana. The area, though small, is rich in Hawaiian culture. It is here that an abundance of rare culturally significant fish and plant life can still be found. The area holds many ancient taro, or kalo, patches; a number of which are still in operation. In Hawaiian legend, taro is literally the older brother of all Hawaiians. And, so “Mahiʼaiʼana”, or cultivation of the land, is an ingrained principle that has endured for the people of Wailuanui.
The beautiful view from this lookout point really gives you a sense of what ancient Hawaii must have looked and felt like. It’s truly as though you received a glimpse back in time at untouched Maui.
Right beyond Kaumahina State Wayside Park you'll find a pullout that gives a good view of Honomanu Bay. From this vantage point you can get another good look at the Ke'anae Peninsula. The views from Kaumahina Wayside park are superior to this pullout, so if you can, be sure to stop at the Wayside Park instead.
Kaumahina State Wayside Park or Kaumahina State Park, is located in Maui County, Hawaii, 28.3 miles East of Kahului and 22.4 miles West of Hana along the Hana Highway. The park consists of 7.8 acres of forest and exotic plants
The unique rainbow tree reveals bright shades of green, blue, purple, orange and maroon, as patches of its bark shed throughout the year. Hawaii hosts many of these beautiful shrubs that can grow to an over-elming height of 200 feet! Many consider the rainbow eucalyptus the most beautiful tree on earth.

Rodger was an excellent driver, fun and very knowledgeable. Would recommend this tour to anyone! We really enjoyed the experience.
Marty was full of endless knowledge and kept us entertained from start to finish. It was a great tour that I would recommend to anybody that hasn’t made the trip yet
I’ve had good luck booking Viator tours in the past, so I had no reason to mistrust booking this tour. The description stated the tour would pick you up if your hotel was included on their list—which included the hotel where we were staying—and subsequent communications continually confirmed that information. On the afternoon before the tour day, we were called and told we would have to get up extra early and drive ourselves 15 minutes away to a different pickup point if we wanted to be included on the tour. Luckily, we had rented a car, but if we had not, we would have had to cancel the tour. Once aboard the van, we learned we were the only members of the tour that had to deliver ourselves to a different location. The tour itself was great. Our driver/guide, Roger was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, with a vast knowledge of the island and Hawaiian history. Roger gets 5 stars. Viator gets 1 star for misrepresenting this tour and the last-minute bait-and-switch or miss the entire tour. I’ll definitely reconsider booking Viator tours in the future. If they knew the pick-up schedule in advance, they could have given us more warning.
The agency I hired for this tour was terrible. They didn't deliver on any of their promises, and we didn't see any of the scenery because it was raining so much. We told them to cancel, as they did with all the other tours, but they preferred not to lose their money and to make sure we, as tourists, were comfortable. I don't recommend them.
Terrible experience with this company. First of all, the customer service was extremely disappointing. I called the day before our tour because we were expecting a very heavy rainstorm, and I wanted to confirm whether the tour would be canceled. Obviously, with that kind of weather, the experience was not going to be the same. The woman I spoke with was rude and told me that she couldn’t control the weather. I completely understand that the weather can change, but the forecast was showing a 100% chance of rain. She told me that they wouldn’t cancel until they saw what the weather was like the next morning. I called at 5 a.m. the day of the tour because it was raining extremely heavily and I wanted to know if the tour was still happening, but no one from the company answered my call. The tour itself was a terrible experience. We couldn’t do the activities that were advertised because of the rain. We didn’t get to swim, we didn’t eat at the location we were supposed to, and we couldn’t take any pictures because we couldn’t see or enjoy the scenery at all. When we got out of the van, it was raining so hard that we could barely even walk around. What made it even worse was how much money we paid for this experience. We spoke with other tour companies afterward, and they told us that they had canceled their tours because, first, the conditions were unsafe for their guests, and second, the experience would not have been what they promised. I would not recommend this company for booking a tour. Based on our experience, it felt like they cared more about keeping our money than making sure their customers had a safe and enjoyable experience.
My experience with this tour was absolutely terrible. The service was extremely disappointing from the beginning. Since the weather was rainy that morning, I requested to cancel the tour, but the agency refused and practically forced us to go ahead with it. The experience did not meet my expectations at all. We couldn’t see anything during the tour, and they also failed to provide what had been promised as part of the package. We had to pay for our own breakfast, and for lunch, all they provided was a single sandwich. The overall service was very poor, and the experience was nowhere near what was advertised. I would never book another tour with this agency, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.
Our guide Roger was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and gave great explanations along the way. We went on a day that was supposed to rain but he was able to make us all feel safe and we were still able to do everything that was on the itinerary -
Quinn truly made our day traveling on the Road to Hana. Knowledgable, fun, engaging, and genuine - he’s a top notch guide.
Robert was the consummate safety-conscious driver, experienced and knowledgeable tour guide, as well as a friendly, good-vibes local dude all in one. I don't know how a Road to Hana tour could be any better. Great background playlist too w/ some reggae, country and classic rock like the Beach Boys, Tom Petty, etc. Book with him if you can 😊! We saw so much that I was absolutely, blissfully exhausted by the end of our long and chock-full day. Also, clean, practically brand new Mercedes van with good lunch and snacks as well! 🤙
It was a nice tour. Just felt rushed! We left super early. He was probably 20 mins ahead of schedule. It would be nice if you day 5:45 and leave at that time!
Quinn showed us great aloha !!! We enjoyed the history and drive to Hana! Really long day though!! Expert driver
Long day but so worth it. You see so much beauty. Our tour guide Roger was amazing. He was a wealth of information and took great care of all.
We had heard how great the Road to Hana adventure was so our expectations were high. I have to say this excursion exceeded our expectations! The van was very comfortable and easy to get in and out of for our many stops along the way. Our guide, Roger truly made the trip even more special sharing so much information about the history, nature and all sorts of other interesting facts about the area. He was knowledgable, prompt, kind and respectful of all our needs and made an already spectacular journey even more spectacular! We highly recommend this trip with Stardust Hawaii.
My husband and I together with 3 other friends were very satisfied with the experience we had. Marty our driver/guide was very professional. He's very knowledgeable of the area and he shared with us all the important information about Maui and about the Road to Hana which made our trip more enjoyable. It was a delightful adventure for all of us. The size of the group is just right and we met very wonderful people. I highly recommend this tour company.
Dom was so knowledgable and informative. We enjoyed our experience.
This was an amazing trip! The guide, Quinn was the most informative guide that I have ever interacted with which made the trip even more incredible!
It was amazing! Trust your guide. Ours - Dom - seemed to totally know what he was doing and changed stops around, etc. No way you cannot have a good time and learn a lot.
Tour guide was awesome, beautiful scenery and nice clean van. Fun stops and really nice hikes during the day Purchased banana bread was amazing I would give food that was provided a 2.5 out of 5
Quin was very knowledgeable and we learned so much about Maui… the road trip to Hana was amazing and enjoyed the multiple stops both ways!
This was canceled due to weather The tour operator tried to help us re schedule but it just didn't work out. We received a full refund with out any issues.
I’ve never come across a guide quite like him—so knowledgeable, artistic, a perfect communicator, kind, an entertainer, and an excellent safe driver. Believe me, I’ve taken many tours, and I’m 69 years old. He was incredibly patient and made me feel relaxed and happy throughout the tour. He was very knowledgeable about not only the places we visited but also had a wealth of knowledge about Hawaii’s history. He shared his knowledge in a very fun way. He was very pleasant even in early morning and very patient with driving. He made me feel safe, yet he started and finished the tour right on time. He was also very artistic and took a photo per my request that really impressed me. I could write about my joyful ride forever, but I don’t want to make it too long. Just have to say, Dao, you must have a very high IQ, in addition to your artistic side, to be able to do all of that in such a perfect way. You really impressed me! Thank you for everything you did!
The tour was excellent and our guide, Dom, was so knowledgeable and made our experience top notch. We loved all of the shops and photo opportunities. Thank you, Dom!!
The guid Quinn was fantastic but the trip wasn't that good. We didn't stop at many road side shops and for the price the lunch was horrible a warm sandwich which gave me stomach cramps. For the price I would expect much more.
Quinn was a great tour guide! We learned so much about Hawaii and Maui. And I’m very glad we didn’t try to do Road to Hana on our own.
My family and I had a wonderful time with Dom on the Road to Hana tour. Dom was very courteous and polite. His commentary the whole time was very informative and we learned so much about the history of Hawaii and Maui. His driving was also top notch, and he took us to all the famous sightseeing places on the road to Hana. It was definitely one of the best parts of our Maui trip and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice, laid back tour with some informative commentary to listen to.
Great tour! Roger was very informative and a great driver. Beautiful views and loved swimming under the waterfall and seeing giant turtles.
We booked the tour ahead of time to get to see the other side of the island. We have Quinn as a tour guide and driver. He is very knowledgeable and he also makes sure that everybody is okay with the ride. I do get a car sick depending on the driver but Quinn is very good driver and I didn’t get sick with the trip. I would really recommend to get a one day tour of road to Hana. I believe if my partner drives I would be so stressed. Thank you !!
Had a great experience on our Road to Hana tour today with Quinn as our driver/guide. Saw a lot of natures creations and had a great time interacting with Quinn and the rest of the tour. A great learning experience and a safe trip
We had a great day on the road to Hana with Quinn, our tour guide and driver. He was knowledgeable about the entire route, giving us advance warnings when something of interest was coming up. He knew all the best stops for scenic views and bathroom breaks. Definitely would recommend to all my family and friends!!
Awesome tour. Guide Roger was knowledgable and safe. Many sights to see and he stopped so we could take photos to preserve the memories. Frequent restroom and food breaks made the tour seamless.
My friends and I had a wonderful time on this tour. Dom was a very knowledgeable, safe and entertaining guide/driver. We felt safe with him at the helm, driving us through the beautiful but tricky road to Hana. Recommended 100%
Roger was an excellent guide. We hit the perfect spots for local sights and food.
I would definitely recommend travelers to book an experience like this if they want to explore the road to Hana rather than drive themselves. It was much more relaxing and you get to learn about the culture and different parts of the island. Our tour guide Quinn was great and knew so much! He also made sure we all felt ok and didnt get motion sickness. There are many breaks so you can stretch your legs and buy some goodies, like the delicious banana bread! The only thing I would suggest for the company is to limit the booking to 12 or 13. Although the van technically holds 14, its very cramped in the back, especially in the corner. It would make the experience a lot more enjoyable for everyone!
Great trip! Really loved just being able to enjoy the ride and views and not have to worry about driving. Our guide Dom was great and was super safe and gave us a great experience
Quinn was a great guide, knowledgeable and extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Quinn really made the day, excellent time
Quinn was our tour guide. He was great lots of history of Maui. Plus any additional questions. I would have no problem suggesting this tour to anyone who wants to experience Maui.
Dom was an outstanding guide - highly recommend him. Full of historical knowledge.
Guide was super knowledgeable on all things Hawaii. Language, culture, history, ecology, you name it. By far the best way to experience road to Hāna!
Amazing experience and our tour guide Roger was great! Would definitely go again and recommend to others.
This my first ever trip to Hawaii at 72 years young. My sister and I were this memory making trip. I was fortunate to have the front passenger seat, full front view. I saw so many amazing beautiful sites. Dom is an excellent guide. The wealth of knowledge of the hawaiian culture and island fascinated me. Mahalo Dom!
We had an excellent experience and our driver Quinn was very informative and told us a lot about the Hawaiian history and the road that we were traveling!! the road to Hana!
Great experience. Beautiful sites without the stress of driving a difficult road. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience a lot of fun.
My girlfriend and I had an overall amazing experience doing this tour. Our guide was Quinn and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better guide! He knew a lot about the Island and showed us some beautiful sights and stops. His driving was phenomenal! Wouldn’t have had it any other way. THANKS QUINN!!
Quinn was fantastic! Highly recommend.
My sister’s first trip to Maui, and the Road to Hana didn’t disappoint. Our tour guide Dom, was not only kind and attentive, but a wealth of knowledge. He kept a monologue going throughout the trip talking about everything from the history of the Hawiian Islands to the flora and fauna that we were seeing. His expert driving skills made us feel completely at ease on some of the most narrow of spots along the road. I feel a tour under his guidance would be most pleasant for anyone
My husband and I had a great time on our Road to Hana tour with Don. We were the last pick up so we sat in the back of the van , which gave us extra space. Don was knowledgeable about all Hawaiian history and kept us all entertained. He was concerned about the comfort and safety of all the passengers. The sights were beautiful and the stops were timed perfectly. I would highly recommend this tour.
Don, our guide was outstanding. So knowledgeable and really cared about us having the best experience. He timed the stops perfectly and even was able to pivot when one stop was closed. Amazing trip.
Definitely a must do on Maui. Despite the long drive, it was 100% worth it and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Our driver Marty was extremely knowledgeable and knew all the best places to stop. We definitely recommend taking the tour rather than driving yourself.
Eddie was a great tour guide! Very knowledgeable and talkative, but not “over the top”. It is a long day with quite a bit of writing and getting on and off the bus for sightseeing, but not strenuous or difficult at all.
