An absolutely unforgettable whale watching experience! The biggest advantage of this tour was the small boat with only a few guests on board, which made it easy to move around freely, find the best views, and capture amazing videos of the whales. Even though we were visiting slightly after the peak season, the captain managed to locate a large group of whales - including males competing for a female, which was truly incredible to witness. The crew was exceptionally kind and welcoming, and their extensive knowledge about whales made the whole experience even more engaging and informative. It was truly a unique and breathtaking adventure - I would happily go on this whale watching tour again!

I reached out to Capt Chrissy about a group of friends that were interested in going on a whale watch. Let me tell you, she delivered! We love a sunrise whale watch, there is something about leaving the Mala dock and watching the sun rise over the Maui mountains... We cruised about 10 mins and found a pod of whales. The Captain and her deckhand Alison were amazing. This crew knew all about the humpback whales. They educated us on the breeding grounds, the fresh babies that were playing in the water and more. We spent 2 hours watching whales play. It is remarkable to think these gentle giants are just 30-40 feet beneath the surface and we are hanging out watching them play. Lilikoi, the golden made our trip that much more special. We had 16 of us on the boat that day. We learned, we gasped and we cheered! Fast forward to Sunday and 15 of us joined again for a whale watch with James and his amazing kind naturalist! (pls forgive me for not remembering her name) They are the most amazing photographers and taught us all about "chasing whale tails." we found a Russian mom whale and her baby. We learned about his history from this team. We also lost count of baby breaches. It was remarkable. James took us out and we "parked" and watched this group of whales just play. They slapped, dove, gently swam near the surface and the baby played. Again this sunset cruise was remarkable, there were full breaches, tails, splashes and just the peace of the vastness of the ocean. This was a special trip for our friends/family. Our friend passed away shortly after our tour last year. We felt her presence on these tours. Her family joined us to see what she saw and as the sun shined, and the whales played we felt peace. Amazing experience and 100% worth it. We had Shannon and Lainey, both of whom were skilled and knowledgeable. We got close to multiple whales, and even had a very close interaction with a whale swimming under our boat and surfacing next to it. Was also very cool to listen to them sing with the aqua phone. A few dolphins also decided to say hi and jump around nearby. Boat was smaller but stable and comfortably seated our party of about 16-20. I struggle with seasickness but took a angi-drowsy Dramamine and popped a ginger chew when getting on and had zero issues.

Very stable Boat, very knowledgeable, captain and marine, biologist on board, also dropped the hydrophone over and we’re able to listen to the whales around us

My husband and I really enjoyed our sunrise whale watching adventure. We prefer being on a smaller boat and James and Mindy were great guides! We saw quite a few whales that were really fun to watch and even a couple dolphins. I would highly recommend the little pink boat!

This boat was clean and great. There was enough seating for everyone who got on to see clearly. The people who ran the boat James and Mindy were very knowledgeable and friendly. They got us to the whales and we saw so many! The coolest thing was also listening to them with their microphone underwater. We rate this boat and its people 10/10 and we will definitely be back again! love love loved it! The price was right too! It was perfect! We also saw dolphins !

Took the 6:45am sunrise tour in early March. Perfect low-wind conditions, easygoing, experienced crew (Capt Shannon, first mate Alison), comfortable boat with great views in all directions (and crates to store your stuff in). I recommend taking the sunrise tour because 7-10am generally provides the least amount of wind, which means a comfy trip and tons of visibility. Woman-owned business trying to recover from Lahaina wildfires—go support them! Reasonable prices too.

There are many choices for whale watch tours, but I’m sure they can’t top this one!! It was fun and I learned a lot too!!

Dreams come true! Absolutely the best 2 hours watching whales we could’ve asked for! Captains Emma and Shannon LOVE and respect these animals! Their passion is contagious and today was so much FUN!

Outstanding experience, very energetic team, great knowledge and feeling for whale spotting and watching. Saw multiple very active whales, including full family with Mom, Dad and Baby.

We were fortunate to have Captain Chrissy guiding us through the marvels of Humpback Whales on Maui. We have adopted and names 4 beautiful Humpback Whales - MUNKHOF, MISSE, PUKAMAN and PETRA. A friend of ours told us that Pukaman and Petra were spotted on Maui January 17 and 25. On this trip we went out with a friend of ours, a professional photographer (Rob Palmer) who got a picture of a whale with a black tail - which could be Pukaman's tail. Rob downloaded the picture to a site that identifies tales - it wasn't our little "girl". We did see mothers and calves. All in all it was a delightful whale watch....ocean was rather calm.

Captain James and his guide Mindy were terrific and provided loads of information about the humpback whales. Ocean was calm and whales were active. The early excursion was well worth getting up early.

Mindy and James were amazing. The experience was smooth, we left on time, the boat was clean and well maintained. And luckily the universe conspired for us to see the most amazing whale sightings! AND Mindy put a mic in the water so we could hear the whale song loud and clear… thanks for a great sunrise morning!

Shannon and Emma were so knowledgeable and also so very caring. They led us to the right place. We experienced so many whales and were fortunate enough to see a baby breach 4 times just off the boat. We had an excellent time. I highly recommend this boat.

The most amazing whale mugging ever! We had an upclose encounter with whales swimming around and under the boat! Emma was fun and engaging! Definitely recommend this company.

This was a great time! They left on time, details were well communicated, it was well organized and we saw lots of whales! There is nothing like being out on the water with the whales. You can really see the details of them and see how big they are. I love that this is a woman owned and ran business. You could tell they really care about their customers and wanted to give them the best experience possible. The naturalist knew her stuff and so did the captain. We trailed 3 big whales for quite a while and enjoyed their company. Just book it! I highly recommend!

This all girl crew knew where to go to see whales. We saw whales 10 minutes out of the harbor. Moms and calf’s, escorts, trio of three males traveling together…whales were everywhere. We like the 6:45 am time because the ocean is normally so clam and it’s easier to spot whales. They did a great job.

Second time with them, once at the beginning and again on our last day. Captain James and Mindy were fabulous!! They both were very knowledgeable about the whales. Small enough boat that there was no bad seat. Book with them you will not be disappointed!!

An excellent sunrise whale watching trip by an experienced, friendly, personable whale watching [and finding] crew. The crew has Lahaina ties and history ...and world experience, humor, and great music. We followed a pod of young whales, listened to whale song, learned of their habits and followed their encounter with a mother, calf, and full adult male plus saw an ocean rainbow. A perfect morning,

We saw sooo many whales. Captain James brought the boat into perfect positions for viewing — keeping the whales out of sun glare for better photos. Everyone had a great seat — there were only seats on the sides, none in the middle, and the boat was big enough that if whales were on the other side of the boat from your seat you could stand up to still get the view. When we were returning to port we saw some activity and even though our time was technically up, Captain James still put us in perfect position to see a young whale totally breaching. It was very exciting. Meanwhile the whale expert Mindy was able to answer all our questions and continued with fascinating dialogue about the lives of whales. I highly recommend this cruise and will definitely come back next time we return to the island!

This was by far the best whale watch I have been on in Maui! It is great to be able to give this small women owned business that has started up after surviving the Lahaina town fire a 5 star review!

We had a great trip. We saw lots of whales. The boat was comfortable and the staff was wonderful! We have booked a second boat trip at the end of our stay.

This is hands down the best Whale watching tour we've ever been on. Captain Emma and first mate were friendly, informative and were just as excited as we were to see whales. The boat is extremely comfortable and the whales came a lot closer than with a catamaran tour. If you're in the area look no further than this tour, guarantee you will not regret it.

Friendly, highly experienced and informative crew. If there are whales to be found, they will find them! But if you can, go during peak whale watching season. There's no way you're not going to see whales. Lots of them! Great experience.

I love this company! I found them last year on a recommendation. Professional, respectful of wildlife, and great operators. We went out 1/16/26 in early morning. Very upfront told us we were going to get wet as wind was blowing. We did get wet but Capt Emma tried really hard not to get us wet and the ride was smooth considering the weather. We had a spectacular whale watch. I have since been out multiple times with them and I highly recommend this be your tour company

Spectacular! Simply spectacular! Shannon, our captain, and Allison, our crew, were deeply knowledgeable and easily shared information about the whales and their behaviors. We were stunned to have such incredible up close viewing when the whales came to us and we were in “whale jail” until they moved away. We cannot recommend this company more highly. Environmentally sensitive, female owned and operated, attention to safety for us and the whales, and even shared a go pro video of the whales underwater antics. BOOK THIS TOUR!

Excellent trip! Highly recommend! Shannon and Laney (apologies if spelling incorrect) were fantastic, both very knowledgeable. It’s also a great boat and the group size is small which was perfect - we saw lots that looked really busy. They took us to some brilliant spots away from other boats where we saw two different mother and baby groups . We did the first trip of the day (6.45am) and would also highly recommend this time as it was quiet and the water very calm. All in a great start to the day!

The trip was spectacular! Hosts were so friendly and knowledgeable. Saw an abundance of whales but I’m sure every trip would be different. If we wouldn’t have seen one whale, the tour would still have been worth it. Would book them again in a heartbeat 👍

M.O.A. gave us an amazing and unforgettable sunrise whale watching experience! They were very friendly. They were also informative on safety and what to expect during the tour. Mindy was very knowledgeable about humpback whales and answered everyone's questions. Within minutes they put us on whales. We were fortunate to observe 2 whales up close for well over an hour! What an incredible experience!! They even gave us videos from our trip! We've done quite a few tours in the Hawaiian islands including snorkeling, Haleakalā, hilo rides, etc. and M.O.A whale waching has ben our best experience so far!!

We had a wonderful experience with Maui Ocean Adventures at our sunrise whale watching tour. They were easy to work with, came equipped for the tour (including nausea meds for the kids!), they were extremely friendly and made the two hour ride fun and informative. We were lucky to see so many whales and Lexi shared wonderful information on how to spot males versus females, their age, their patterns, etc. This women-owned business is a true gem if you’re planning on going whale watching while in Maui.
