Maui: 2 Hour Afternoon Lahaina Whale Watch

James and Mindy provided us with an amazing whale watch. They knew when to stick around and when to go to the next spot. They provided listening to whale songs and talked about whale identification and tracking. The boat was stable and the views were excellent from the back. As an extra bonus Mindy shared go-pro footage of the whales from out watch.

The team was very friendly and informative. They made sure we saw several whales on our excursion. Be prepared to get wet so dress accordingly! :)

We absolutely loved this boat trip! We were lucky enough to see so many whales 🐋✨ There were around 10 of us on the boat, which made the experience even more special and intimate. Sharing this moment as a family was truly incredible — something we will never forget. We highly recommend this excursion!

The women in charge were great! I mean great! Knowledgeable, care for the whales, excellent drivers, finders of whales (even very late in the season) - just awesome to see nature like that. Loved every minute. This is soooo worth it. One of the best experiences ever!

Captain Emma and First Mate Shannon were a joy to share our up close whale experience! We even saw a mamma and baby! Then later, a female literally put on a performance, dancing in the waters and ultimately showing her snoot!

This was a last minute booking and it was the highlight of our trip to Maui! We saw whales the whole two hours! I cried a few times because it was so magical! Our guides where Shannon and Allison and they were full of knowledge about the whales. We could not have asked for a better whale watching excursion. Highly recommend!

Comfortable boat, excellent crew, great info, fun. We had the most incredible experience. Baby whale learning to breach. Momma whale under our boat, beside our boat. Whale was interested in us and came to us. Special.

Maui Ocean Adventures provided a wonderful whale watching experience. The captain and first mate were professional and knowledgeable. The boat was clean and well-maintained. The 2 hour tour was the perfect amount of time. The tour fee/price was definitely worth it. We would use this company again.

Mindy and James took us on the ride of our lives. They found pod after pod of whales for us to view including a mom and baby pair! It was better than we could have ever expected!!

We took our first whale watching adventure with Maui Ocean Adventures and it did not disappoint. We saw a ton of whales and the crew was just as excited to see them as we were. The boat was very comfortable and not to crowded. The girls on the boat did an excellent job of explaining things and truly made the experience amazing. I will definitely book with them again on future trips to Maui.

This is our second time for this whale watching tour and we think it’s just spectacular. It’s definitely something you should do while visiting Maui. You won’t be disappointed.

That was a real fun experience! We saw a lot of Whales; some swimming right at the boat. The crew was fantastic, very knowledgeable and personable.

Perfect size 'pink' boat to be up close and personal with the whales :). We had a marvelous time with James and Mindy. SO many encounters - so many times. It was beyond words and our crew and group was so much fun! Highlight of our trip!

This was our third whale watch with Maui Ocean Adventures - 1:30pm. Again we spotted and photographed a mother and calf. Did see a breaching calf in the distance which I was able to photograph. With the Kona winds that they were experiencing it made it a bit more difficult to see the "blows". This is a small boat, a fast boat, with excellent commentary. They are as excited to see a Humpback Whale as you are...and it rubs off on you. Chrissy is very knowledgeable and loves to talk about whales and their behaviors - highly recommend them for a whale watch out of the Lahaina area - not out of the Lahaina Harbor.l

Great for ALL AGES! After 100s of whale watches over the years ... I'm sure glad I did this trip. I learned your story. I enjoyed spending time with two incredibly fun and knowledgeable crew. Unlike some others we've experienced where the Capt seems to try to "one up" the crew, Allison and Shannon work together, play off each other to make a stronger and more fun experience. It truly is like going out with family with those two. I felt it personally and could see it in their relations with other passengers. Helping one lady with a walker, making sure new whale watchers were educated and had a good experience, great with kids. I know there's no whale button and you never know what you will see. But  Capt Shannon put the whales at 9-3 so the whole boat could see. (Some other boats capts kept them at 11-1 making it impossible and frustrating.) While respecting the 100 yard distance she makes it possible for good sightings along side or front of boat as they come by. AND we got false killer whales!!! I haven't seen those in years. Anyway, those two ladies are THE BEST team around. They are a true asset to a wonderful company that gives back to the community. I will definitely recommend them to my friends who live here and visit here.

Captains, Emma and Chrissy were exceptional! Their knowledge of whales and passion for what they do was evident. They made our family feel so welcome. I would highly recommend them over and over!

We have been out with MOA multiple times in 2025 and 2026. I can assure you that you will want to do the same, especially during whale season. Every person that we have sailed with has been exceptional and we have seen multiple whales every time. The expertise of every captain and naturalist is excellent.

We saw mamas, babies, and escorts frolicking. The music playlist was great!! James and Mindy are passionate about the experience they provide and are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.

Shannon and Lainie did a great job and were very experienced with whale behavior. Very personable and cheerful. About all one could ask for for this type of tour. We were even in whale jail which meant the boat was surrounded by several whales.

The crew were well organized and took really good care of my wife who broke her baby toe on foot the night before and was in a cast. Shout out to Captains Chrissy and Emma - both amazing , professional, fun and ever so informative. They truly care about the humpback whales and interact with them with total respect and their well being. Saw so many moms and their calfs breaching and mom teaching young one how to get stronger. So cute and awe inspiring. Bothe Captain Chrissy and Emma have so much positive energy and it is infectious. Thanks so much for a wonderful trip.

Whale watching with Maui Ocean Adventure, saw so many whales in the misty, foggy weather. Mammas, babies, breaching and playing around. Incredible experience. 10/10 would do again

The crew were amazing and got as excited as the guests each time we saw a whale. Hearing the whales sing underwater was an added bonus.

Small group on a small boat. Bounces around a little, so was hard to get good photos. Other than that, and great experience.

Amazing trip, host were so knowledgeable and we found about 7-8 whales during the trip. 2 hours is plenty, would definitely recommend!

This was our first experience Whale watching, and it was as good as we could have expected! We saw 3 different groups of whales, including 2 babies, and the captain and crew did a great job explaining what we were seeing and answering questions with accuracy and enthusiasm. It was a totally joyous 2 hours on the water, highly recommend!

A beautiful afternoon was had by all . Multiple whale sitings with excellant and knowledgeable commentary by the captain (Emma ) . Weather was perfect . Emma was able to keep the boat at just the right distance for the perfect experience. Will repeat on my next visit. Kudos to the team .

We were blessed with amazing up close appearances of a mother and calf, and 3 adult whales that stayed with the boat for nearly 1/1/2 hours! It was an incredible experience. The boat is very comfortable too! Thanks for a lifetime experience. But I’ll be back!

What a great experience. With whales you never know what they are going to see. With Captain Emma we were able to have a great experience watching a mother and baby who trusted us for a good half hour. They were 50 yards away. It took real skill to build that kind of trust and know what she was doing.

We had a wonderful time during this whale watching excursion. We saw several whales and groups of whales throughout the two hour trip. Mindy was extremely knowledgeable and happily answered all of our questions. Great experience overall.

Incredible. Lost count of how many whales we saw up close. Great crew as well. Boat is mid size compared to others but plenty of room even when it's full. Highly recommend.

We come every year and they are the best in town. Captain Shannon is a whale magnet. She knows how to spot the best. We saw at least six whales breach. Wow it was the highlight of our day!!!
