Maui Whale Watching: Whales Guaranteed With Makai Adventures

Seen a lot of whales. Guide and captain were great and very knowledgeable. Had a great time and would definitely suggest this whale watch.

We were a little nervous that we wouldn't see much since it was the last week of whale watches being offered, but were pleasantly surprised to see a large competition group in addition to a couple other one offs. Over a dozen whales all together. Captains were friendly and knowledgeable, boat was comfortable for everyone in our group, ages 16-77. Highly recommend the experience.

The guides were great, informative and got to actually see whales

We saw multiple whale pods throughout the time. Guides were super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Weather was overcast and pleasant.

Ideal whale watching experience in our opinion. Not too big or too small. In the perfect location to see whale activity. Very experienced and knowledgeable crew to learn about whale behavior.

Allison and Levi were great! Went over all safety protocols before we went out. Knowledgeable and funny. Nice clean and roomy vessel. Found a group of whales that we were able to follow and watch for a good while. Don’t hesitate to book this excursion!

Fan-freaking-tastic!!! We had low expectations for late in the season viewing but Levi & Allison really produced. They were educational & fun and the amount of whales we saw just made our whole trip. It was totally amazing to all 6 in our group & we highly recommend!!!

On the morning of our afternoon trip, we received a text saying the trip was canceled due to lack of people. This is one of the main events my girlfriend wanted to see. Having never been to Hawaii, she was very excited about seeing a whale. They had to know before the morning they didn't have enough people. This was 3 days before we were leaving and we had 2 other things planned on the other days. If they would have given us notice before Sunday Morning, we would have had time to rearrange our schedule. Just very disappointed in the lack of customer service!

Travis and Allison were awesome hosts and whales were Definitely seen !!! We also saw dolphins and sea turtles!

This tour was absolutely amazing! Travis and Allison were our guides and they were both so knowledgeable, funny and kind. We saw whales. Dolphins and even sea turtles. I would recommend this tour to anyone and would definitely do it again next time I am on the island.

We had a great experience, even though it was late in the season. We saw two babies, 1 mama, and maybe a dad just hanging on the surface! Noah and Dani were great!

So many whales. Wish there were less people on the boat or that the boat would’ve positioned so both sides could get up front views.

Even though we went out toward the end of whale season, we were still able to see multiple humpbacks, including a momma and baby breaching the water right next to the boat. Travis and Dani were super nice and knowledgeable. 100% would book again with Makai Adventures!

Even if we didn’t see any whales which we did the boat ride was fabulous. My daughter felt the same way.

Noah and Dani were great. The cruise was great, saw some humpbacks and baby whales, one mother came half way out of the water.

Maui was hit with Kona Low while we were there this year. The whale watch saved our vacation. If we go back to Maui, we will do another with Makai Adventures. Travis and Noah were a lot of fun and informative. Best day of our vacation.

We had a lot of surface activity. It was amazing. Levi and Allie were wonderful guides. They were fun and took good care of us. We had a member of our group start to feel oogey. Levi jumped in and got her in the back of the boat before things got any worse. So thoughtful and aware.

Allison and Levi were great guides. They were very knowledgeable about whale behaviors. They were very attentive to passengers who were struggling with seasickness. We were able to see a lot of whales.

So much fun! We saw several whales and a new baby. Highlight of our trip after several days of rain.

Best day on Maui!!! We went on the 6:45am whale watching trip, and it was fantastic!! If you get there early, you can park there, but parking is limited. Noah met us at the boat dock, ( see the chair with Makai Adventures on it) and explained everything. The boat was pretty new, in heat shape. Travis was fantastic at finding and positioning the boat for the best views, while Noah explained so much about the humpback whales, migration, and their lives. We ran upon a Competition pod of whales, with one female and multiple males trying to be the chosen one for mating. At one time they were right beside our boat. Magnificent creatures, just amazing, and Travis and Noah were having a blast also! Book this Today!! Support small family business while having your best day in Maui!!

You need to take your shoes off! Sometimes, you will get very splashed/wet, but still fun!! We saw a lot of whales breaching! They were close to the boat!

Went on an 11 am whale watch tour on 3/18/26. Captain Travis and mate Allison were our crew. They were considerate, patient and helpful when loading and unloading the boat. The tour was awesome. We saw whales the entire tour, including a breach near the front of the boat! Allison provided good information about the whales and their behavior. Lots of comfortable shaded seats on the boat. We are older adults (65+) and had a great time. Best whale watch we’ve been on in Maui! We highly recommend this company and tour.

We had an awesome whale watch today with captain Travis and Allison!! We saw 9-10 males jockeying for position. They were side jumping, mouth chomping and breaching! One breached 25 feet from our boat! Allison was so knowledgeable and captain Travis knew just how to get us as close as we could legally. From there a few whales came closer to check us out😁

We saw lots of whales. The biologist also gave a lot of interesting information. The boat was comfortable. The group was not too big.

Crew was professional and knowledgeable. We encountered whales almost as we left the harbor, including a breeching juvenile. We saw many others along the way. The hydrophone was busy and interesting to listen to.

Levi and Allison were fantastic and provided lots of information about the whales and their behaviours. We were so lucky to see a competition pod, mamas and their babies and some breaching whales!

Last week Saturday 3/7 took a trip with Dani and Travis! Exceeded expectations and we couldn’t have gotten luckier with a mugging from mom and baby! From Jess at check in to safety and experience throughout the whole trip my friend and I were blown away! New boat is 20/10 I couldn’t recommend Makai enough!!! Don’t miss out!!!! Plenty of shade, and extremely comfortable!! This company knows what they’re doing 💛💛💛

We had a wonderful afternoon full of whale sightings from exciting breeches to very up and close Mom and baby swimming right by the boat. Highly recommend!!!

Whale watching at its best even in the rain! Saw lots and lots of whales, babies breaching! Quite a show! Boat was great getting us to the whales when they spotted them. Learned a lot along the way and loved them using the hydrophone to hear them. Both captain and guide were wonderful Would do this again for sure

This was a phenomenal adventure. We saw so many whales! Travis and Allison were both wonderful. Our 645am trip, even in a downpour, was one to be remembered!

Our whale watch was great! Saw lots of whales pect slapping, tail dives, babies and more. The boat trip prior to ours took a bit longer because some whales came very close and we could see it from shore. However, they did not short our trip for time and gave us a full 2 hour cruise. It was nice to see that they weren’t so obsessed with time the drove the first boat trip from a close encounter and that they didn’t trip to make for lost time with out trip.

Had a simply magical time with family, including two little ones. All of us from old GB (73) to littlest Ruby (2) had a spectacular 2 hours being entertained by whales, whales, whales and our hosts, Allison & Levi. Felt like we were in a commercial!! So fun (and professionally run)..we couldn't recommend this more

We went out yesterday with Dani and Levi and the whales were very active. The tour was well organized and the boat was super clean. 10 out of 10 I would highly recommend this local company and would book again with them the next time we are in Maui. The boat was the perfect size, it did not feel crowded and we were able to get great pictures.
