Maui Powered Hang Gliding Flight With Ocean And Mountain Views

Of the many wonderful adventures I’ve done in my life so far, hang gliding Maui with Armin as pilot and guide is among the very best, top five if not number one. Armin’s experience and skill flying let me enjoy the sky along the coast from Hāna without fear, seeing through the clear blue waters of the ocean, the corals, the coves, the lava caves and arches, the bays. Like a bird I was soaring above countless waterfalls and pools, seeing the land that cannot be seen from the winding Hāna road, which I also saw from above the dense jungle. I saw people at Black beach, the steps and terrace of Pi'ilanihale Heiau, taro fields, mansions and villages. There’s nothing like traveling in this open motorized glider, a motorcycle in the sky. I got to take control of the wings for a while as I pleased, easing right and left. With Armin circling just right, I saw the shadow of the glider inside a round rainbow above a cloud. Armin navigated around cloud bursts, avoiding any winds. In a cloud I bathed in the cool mist, and I never got cold in the hour in the sky. I left with videos and photos to share, without taking my phone, which would have been a distraction. I forgot about everything, being immersed in the beauty of east Maui, in the sky with no windows! Landing at the remote Hāna airport was so smooth. That’s when I best felt the speed of the craft. Armin turned the engine off high above the airport. This was really cool to hear only the waves and the air on the glider. There’s nothing like gliding here. It’s a must do again for my next visit!

Takeoff is thrilling, seeing the waterfalls from the sky is unbeatable, and if you’ve ever wanted to feel like a bird flying with the wind in your hair, do this! I’ve been to all the Hawaiian islands and this is a top recommendation for me.

Armin was a great instructor/pilot. The flight was incredible! We flew through the clouds, saw amazing waterfalls, saw the seven sacred pools, and so much more. The glider was awesome and there is a seat belt. I have been skydiving and this is Not that adventurous or scary. It's similar to being in an airplane, but you can feel the wind around you. A great way to see this part of the island and check off your bucket list. The videos are extra, but so very worth it. The technology is amazing and you need to get the videos! I definitely recommend the drive to Hana for this experience, you won't regret it!!!

Aloha…. I first learned about power hang gliding 20 years ago when I read about Armin in a book called Maui revealed. I was first interested in how safe it might be, and when I called, I talked to Armin’s wife, who says that her husband spends more time in the air than he does on land, which made quite the impression. As far as safety, it’s a hang glider with an engine so if you have an issue with either one of those you can glide back to earth or in the case of a broken wing (not likely) there’s a parachute…so I took my first flight in 2006 where Armin took me up 5,000 feet over the clouds and turned off the engine and we glided back to earth like a bird. You could reach out and touch the clouds…all with no noise. Those memories have stuck with me for decades, and I have since done Power high gliding in Kauai down the Nepali coastline. So last month we’re back in Maui and I always like to start my vacation in Hana so I called Armin and we made a date. It’s something hard to explain, but let me tell you….you will never forget the experience!!! Armin has now completed over 4600 flights without any issues so you’re in good hands.. .Mahalo….Jim

We did a Hang Gliding Flight tour in April 2026. Conclusion, it was an awesome experience. I always interested in birds and wanted to see how birds see things while they fly. This tour made my wish come true. I see so many beautiful view of Hana, mountains, water falls, ocean, whale, Heiau, Wainapanapa from the sky. Most places are not accessible by a car or foot. It was so beautiful 😍 Armin is very nice and professional. He explained and show things to my son who are very interested in airplanes. I highly recommended this tour. We are looking forward to do it again next year when we go back to Hana, Maui!

What a wonderful experience!!! So fun. An engine on a hang glider is the perfect way to see everything- coastline, so many waterfalls, up above the clouds too! Felt like I was flying. Armin is gregarious, adventurous, knowledgeable and a great guy to fly with! Learned about flying and gliding, and got to try it as well.

What can I say. Armin is amazing. We are a family of aviation enthusiasts and pilots. We found Armin in 2006, I've flown with him at least 3 times, my dad has as well 2 or 3 times, my wife has, today was time for my two kids. This is is a one of a kind experience not to be missed. It's an amazing "high" beyond belief to be above such a beautiful place. The experience itself is exhilarating, but Armin's conscientious approach to the whole process is one that is sure to keep you at peace and comfortable as you should be given his incredible amount of experience! We had a great time flying with Armin. My wife, son, and I all flew. We had issues in meeting with Armin for our flight, but he was very flexible and gracious in accommodating our needs. The flight itself was great with incredible views of the Maui coastline and Haleakala. We will definitely fly with Armin again on our next visit to Maui.

I have had the THRILL of riding on the power hangglider and soaring above the clouds along the gorgeous coastlines of this beautiful island paradise multiple times with HangglidingMaui. I keep going back for more because it’s among the MOST FUN experiences I’ve ever had. I had never before done anything like this so trust me.. no need for you to be a risk taker, or adrenaline junkie. I’m just a regular land locked Nebraska girl yet there I was…flying.. and LOVING IT! So do yourself a favor and if you’re going to be on Maui…take the road to Hana, enjoy the stops and be sure to not miss out on this. Give a call first to book yourself an opportunity to get up in the air to see Maui in a way that will have you saying ohhhh and ahhhh at every turn. My experience with Armin at Hang Guiding Maui was one of the highlights of my Maui vacation and something I’ll always remember. We heard about Armin while thumbing through the “Maui Revealed” book while sorting out our visit to Maui. I’m super glad we stumbled on it! I’m a private pilot and it was clear from the start that Armin’s decades of flying experience translated into a safe, fun and one-of-a-kind way to see Hana/Maui from the air. I was surprised at how super stable the motorized hang glider is in the air and Armin demonstrated his expertise and familiarity with the area with great narration throughout my 45-minute experience. My only regret is that I didn’t book the flight longer – 45 minutes went by in a flash. Not only is Armin a master in the air, he’s super personable and the conversation throughout the flight was interesting, educational and a delight. He’s got it “wired” to provide an experience that will leave you with a life-long memory. If you’re anywhere close Hana, put Armin on your schedule. You won’t regret it!

Amazing experience! I had so much fun flying over east Maui in a powered hang glider! You really need to experience it. My wife and I both had an amazing time. It’s the best way to see waterfalls and all of the natural wonders. Definitely a must too. Armin is super experienced and extremely nice. Felt very safe. My wife had been nervous but she’d totally do it again. She even saw humpback whales and a pod of spinner dolphins from the sky. Hang Glide Maui!!
