Maui Mid Day Magic Whale Watch

Captain Emma and Captain Lainey and all the whales around us showed us a great time! We saw breaching whales, momma and baby whales, escorts-at least two or three. The captain's were expert in informing us about whale behavior and where to watch for them as they swam beside, in front of and under our boat. Could not have been a better day! Highly recommend!

Our family went whale watching with Shannon and Allison and it was a wonderful experience. It was a smooth ride to get to the whales and we were lucky enough to see a mom baby and an escort. I love how excited Shannon and Allison were to see the whales too. Whale watching is always my favorite part of visiting Maui and Maui Ocean Adventures was spectacular and I am so glad we chose to go with a smaller boat rather than one of the giant ones. We could have conversations with Shannon and Allison and just pick their brain about whales and humpbacks specifically. These two have such a wealth of information and I am so happy our family had the opportunity to be on this trip with them. Can't wait to come back!

Maui Ocean Adventures - first class, women owned business, complete with a pink boat! We had an epic experience with our Captain and First Mate Lainie (she does have the best name!) But their service starts from the moment you contact them. Top notch communication, respectful and kind when weather caused our first booking to be cancelled and incredibly flexible in rescheduling. We liked that the capacity is limited to 20, giving a personal experience. It is evident that these women love their work, and their guests. The cleanliness of the boat was refreshing. The educational pieces were informative, and appropriate in scope and length. The dry boxes provided for your belongings were just one of the many small details that set them apart, and at the top of the list. We will be back. You will be grateful you booked a trip with Maui Ocean Adventures.

Crew was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Boat size was great, max 20 people so there was no worry about having someone block your view. Would definitely book this one again!

We had the best day whale watching! We saw so many baby whales with their mamas and it was a truly amazing experience! Mindy and James were great guides. They had great energy and were very knowledgeable. I would definitely book this tour again next time. We also loved that it was a smaller boat and smaller group of people.

We did this two times. Nice small boat, around 18 people. Half in shade. Not a zodiac so easy on the back. Smooth ride, but can go very fast. Saw lots of whales, and they have a hydrophone so you can hear them. Very knowledgeable and a wonderful trip both times

The captains on this trip , Shannon and Lainie, showed great enthusiasm and engaged all the passengers throughout trip. They answered every question and shared their expertise and knowledge with all. We saw so many whales especially babies that breached multiple times. Their love of what they do every whale season shows through and is contagious. Be sure to get to the Mala Boat Ramp and take a trip with MAUI OCEAN ADVENTURES before whale season ends.

We saw many whales and dolphins on our trip. The boat had areas of shade and sunshine which were great. Our group was small with about 18 people that made it nice. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about both whales and dolphins. It was a little difficult to hear their comments and a microphone would have helped. They were very accommodating as I could not remove my shoes due to health reasons. This is an excellent company that I would highly recommend!

Allison and Shannon were very knowledgeable and friendly. They knew where to find the whales and when it was time to move on to a new location. We didn't see an adult breach, but saw several babies breaching and having fun in the ocean.. Getting to hear the whales singing under us was amazing. Not a bad seat on the boat and appreciated the smaller group size of 20. Great tour. We highly recommend!

This was an AMAZING whale watching excursion! Captain Emma and first mate Mindy made this fun AND educational! The knowledge these two shared about whale families, their behavior, and what the activities were being displayed made this a unique experience. Being able to hear the whales was something I’ve never experienced on other excursions! We had a family of 12 that ranged in age from 70 to 2 years old, and everyone had a good time. Did I mention their music playlist was also energetic and fun to sing along with? The boat was very comfortable and good views were enjoyed by all. I would highly recommend this woman – owned and run business to everyone! (Please note: I have excellent photos of a full beach and a full tail slap as well as a short video of the whales singing, but Trip Advisor is not allowing them to upload 😞)

The crew and boat were really great. We had no trouble sighting some whales—brand new calf and mama, some juveniles and some others. All were so captivating! Really recommend doing it; it was the highlight of our ten day visit to Maui.

We chose this one because it is woman-owned and run. We saw mamas & babies. The trip was disappointing because we couldn’t hear the guides. There was no audio which would allow people to hear what was being said. I didn’t take water because it was to be included but none was offered.

This was our second whale watch with this company. We saw lots of mama and baby whales. The size of the group was great. It rained on us but we still had lots of fun.

I have been coming to Maui whale watching for 34 yrs and today was our second time with Maui Ocean Adventures. It was the most incredible experience we have ever had. From the small group experience, the incredible boat where there is no bad seat in the house to the knowledge of the captain and her crew as well as capturing incredible encounters with the whales, including a full breech on video was a trip of a lifetime! I am hooked on this team for all my future experiences on the beautiful Maui ocean waters.

The whale watching tour was excellent! We saw many whale and Captain Emma delighted us in explaining whale behaviors. We enjoyed hearing whales communicate under water. Special thanks to Captain Chrissy for helping us with seats on the 1:30pm tour. It was our FAVORITE tour on Maui.

Absolutely awesome group of people running this boat. Shannon and Alison were fun and knowledgeable and put us on the whales within 5min of starting the tour all the way until over 2hrs later. Mom and baby pairs, breaches, competition group and double tail action were just some of what we saw. And can't stress enough how awesome it is to do that and support a local company like them. And Macy is an awesome boat that offers advantages over the rubber raft style ones such as split level viewing and faster speed so you spend more time watching whales. Would 10000% recommend booking with them and we will be back.

What a fantastic whale watch trip! Captain Emma did an amazing job getting us respectfully near the whales. Her passion for these creatures is contagious! First mate Lainey was helpful and knowledgeable as well. The boat is comfortable and fast so you spend less time getting where you need to be. We highly recommend this trip and will be booking with them next time we visit Maui. Aloha!

The pink boat ladies of Maui ocean adventures are amazing! So knowledgeable about the whales and in tune to where they are. We saw whales before even leaving the harbor. Many mother calf pairs, escorts, and a lone male whose song we were able to hear. There were 11 of us on the boat with plenty of room. The small passenger limit made sure we could see and hear everything. This was well worth the price and we would have paid more for it. Such a great mid day adventure. Great job ladies!!

This small company runs an efficient professional whale watching operation. If you want a smaller boat tour so you aren't crowded in with lots of other tourists, and want easy loading from a pier ( not off a beach) and knowledgeable captain James and first mate Mindy, don't waste your time looking at other companies, just go with Maui Ocean Adventures.

It was a spectacular day on the water. The boat was spacious, new and clean. Shannon and Laney were wonderful hosts. We saw lots of wildlife, including four whales! I do highly recommend this trip.

I had the most amazing time celebrating my 30th birthday with my closest friends seeing so many whales!! From the check-in experience, to hopping on the gorgeous boat, learning interesting things about whales & their migration, and seeing cool whale behaviors was awesome. I also love that this is a women-owned, small business, that has really done incredible things for the Lahaina community both during and post-fire. Everyone at Maui Ocean Adventures is wonderful, and I definitely recommend going with them for your next whale watch in Maui!!

VERY highly recommend!! The owners, Chrissy and Emma, are exceptional captains. They, along with the crew, are incredibly knowledgeable about the islands and wildlife and have decades of experience in Hawaii. As a whale fanatic, they are the first boat tour to have taught me something new in years! Their boat is recently refurbished and is super comfortable, comfortable squishy decking and nice seating. They have great personalities and I have been a regular throughout whale season.

The best whale watch and I would recommend to anyone! Will definitely come back and do it again next time we are on Maui. Friendly staff, lots of room and of course we saw lots of whales. Loved the smaller group sizes and the ability to move around easily.

Booking was easy, direct payment, and the sweetest woman crew around! We went once and then a few days later had to book again before going home! Highlights were we were able to see a mama and baby slapping their tails and two males fighting! Captain Emma was so incredibly knowledgeable and it was just a great time on the water! We can’t wait for our next Maui trip with them!

We went out with Maui Ocean Adventures last week and it was literally the best whale watch we have done in 20 years of doing tours. The crew was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, the boat was clean and spacious, and we had the best whale encounter we have ever experienced. We were only about 10 minutes out from the harbor when our crew spotted a solo female right near a fishing boat. This whale subsequently came over to our boat and literally spent the next HOUR hanging out and interacting with us. During this time she was literally right next to or underneath our boat. She would go from one side to the other, roll over and show us her belly, look at us with her big eye, all sorts of amazing interactive things. At one point, an escort came along and tried to get her attention, even breaching at one point and doing some pec slaps. She wanted nothing to do with him, however, because we were far more interesting. Finally he gave up and swam away. I saw more "whale" on this tour than I've seen in any other tour, partially because she stayed with us for so long, but also because the boat wasn't crowded and I was able to move easily from one side to the other to see her, again and again. It was incredible and beautiful and so magical. When our whale friend finally ventured over to another nearby boat and gave us enough legal room to turn our motor back on and return back to the harbor, we bid her farewell and thought that would be it for the day. However, we had even MORE whale encounters on the way back, and we weren't looking. It was just the most amazing experience we have ever had. Some context on Maui Ocean Adventures - it is a woman-owned business that rebuilt after the Lahaina fire. They have quite a story and it's a tribute to their resilience and determination that they are back out on the water. They also have a dog named Macy who is Instagram-famous because of her love of whales and being on the water. If you tour with them, you might even get to meet her at the dock. They were super easy to book with, really responsive, and it was just an overall great experience. I would highly recommend them for your whale or snorkel adventures while on Maui!

Unbelievable experience. We weren’t sure what to expect, and the views and close up encounters were mind Blowing. Emma and Lainey were terrific on providing expert analysis of the whales and made the trip so enjoyable. Make this a must do when you come to Maui

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the boat was the perfect size, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. What a great trip, with an awesome pilot (Emma) and staff! They took us to watch whales, and we saw plenty of them. They sure knew where to look! Everyone took the time to answer any questions we had and tell us many facts about them as well. I would definitely recommend booking an adventure with them!

What an incredible experience! We were met by an all female power crew 💪 and the cutest dog ever, Macy (she does not come along for the ride because she gets too excited when she sees whales) and boy would she have been excited this trip! Our captain Emma took us to multiple locations and with the help of Reese, her first mate, got us closer to whales than I could have ever imagined! We had a mama and baby circle the boat so many times that everyone had a perfect view at some point. The boat was not overcrowded so we were able to move sides to get multiple vantage points for photos. There is an area for shade but being on the bow right in the action was incredible. Chrissy was waiting for us on the dock and helped us pick out awesome merchandise (hats, T shirts, sun shirts) Could not recommend this crew more! I’m so grateful they were able to bounce back after losing their first boat in the fires. Mahalo Maui Ocean Adventures!

An absolutely incredible tour - Captain Emma and Reese were phenomenal crew. Knowledgeable, funny, and kept us in great position to see whales respectfully. We had the privilege of following a giant competition pod and saw SO MUCH ACTION! Breaches, tail slapping, this tour had it all. I also love that Maui Ocean Adventures reserves seats for fire survivors on every charter - as a Lahaina resident, I'm really proud to support this all-women and women-owned business!

Best whale watch tour on Maui! Me and my 3yo son did the trip with captain Emma and Bailey. We enjoyed the smaller boat vibe and way less people than the huge catamaran. You are so much closer to the whales. We even got to meet Macy, the Golden retriever the boat is named after. I highly recommend this company. Emma and Chrissy, the owners, have worked so hard to get their business back after losing their boat on the Maui wildfires.

Best whale watching trip I’ve ever been on. Have been whale watching in Maui for decades. We live in Alaska. Have been whale watching off San Juan Island and Northern California. This was truly the best! We are going back out on Friday.

Other whale watches were more like a whale search. This was unbelievable! They knew where to go and were extremely informative.
