Spencer provided a first-rate adventure. He picked my wife and I at our hotel and gave us a wealth of interesting information about Maui and the Hawaiian culture and history. Along the way, through the lush rainforest, we saw waterfalls, valleys and coastal enclaves that left us in awe of nature’s bounty and power. We stopped for banana bread and other refreshments as well as plenty of bathroom breaks. For two retired folks, it was the perfect tour and Spencer was the perfect guide.

We went on both the sunset excursion with Spencer, and the next day went on half way to Hana with Nani. They were both awesome! I would highly recommend either of these tour guides with Hawaii by Storm.

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Hawaii by Storm, and I cannot recommend our driver, Mark, highly enough. I am a very anxious passenger and, before our Road to Hana tour, I was genuinely worried about the drive. With Mark, I was not scared for even a second. He is an exceptionally skilled driver, knows the road inside and out, and made me feel completely safe and comfortable the entire day. For someone who gets nervous on winding and challenging roads, that alone made the experience priceless. But Mark was so much more than a great driver. He was funny, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and just an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. He knew so much about Maui, the Road to Hana, and Hawaiian history and culture, and shared it in such an interesting and entertaining way. We were traveling as a family—my husband and me and our two young adult children—and he related so naturally to every one of us. He was also completely flexible and made the day feel like our tour rather than a set itinerary. We did the Epic Tour, which I highly recommend. Instead of turning around and driving back the same way, we continued around the full loop and got to experience the incredible backside of Maui as well. We are so glad we chose that option. This was a splurge for us, but it was worth every penny. Having Mark drive meant that all four of us could relax, enjoy the scenery and experience the Road to Hana together without anyone having to concentrate on navigating or driving. We had an incredible experience with Hawaii by Storm’s Half-Day Road to Hana tour. It was the perfect way to experience the beauty of the Road to Hana without committing to an entire day. Our guide, Spencer, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely passionate about Maui and its history, culture, and natural beauty. He knew exactly where to stop, kept the day moving at a comfortable pace, and made the entire experience fun for our family. The Road to Hana was an awesome experience!! What made it better was our tour guide, Daniel. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and attentive throughout our trip. It was just me and my husband and we had a blast with him. We never got rushed and he took lots of pictures for us. He answered all our questions and gave us great information about island life and history of the island. We were exhausted by the end of it but didn’t want it to end!! We did the Hāna & Back tour with Hawaii by Storm yesterday, and our guide Daniel Fisher is the reason this was one of the best days of our trip. Nearly 12 hours on the road, and our group of 6 was genuinely sad when the day ended - we wanted more time with him. Daniel’s knowledge is extraordinary. He wove together Hawaiian history, geology, native vs. non-native flora and fauna, and local culture at every single stop, without it ever feeling like a rehearsed script. You could tell he wasn’t reciting facts - he actually lives this. He’s been on Maui for 9 years and is clearly woven into the real local community, not just the tourist version of it. That access and perspective made all the difference. On top of the depth of knowledge, he was just a genuinely great person to spend the day with - warm, funny, easy to talk to, and attentive to our group the entire time. The stops along the Road to Hāna (waterfalls, Black Sand Beach, banana bread, lunch, the works) are beautiful on their own, but Daniel is what turned it into a truly special experience. We loved our Hawaii by Storm Road to Hana Tour, and would highly recommend Nick as a guide. My wife and I only really had 1 free full day on a short work trip to Maui and we were told "you can't miss the Road to Hana." We decided to book Hawaii by Storm because we wanted a relaxed trip with local experts who could pick the right places to stop rather than hitting every single spot along the way. We just left Maui on a wonderful family vacation celebrating our 20th anniversary. 20 years ago, on our honeymoon, we self drove the Road to Hana. This time, I wanted to focus more on the views, scenery and learn a bit more about the history from a local. We found Hawaii by Storm Tours through a Google search. Not only was it a guided tour with a driver, but in a Ford Bronco with a soft top! Our guide for the day communicated with us the day prior and asked what WE wanted to focus on. He suggested to be prepared for swimming and cliff jumping into waterfalls. Nick arrived promptly at the pickup at our hotel fully equipped with a cooler stocked with waters, juices and Hawaiian power bars (spam sandwiches!) We made a stop at the local Safeway, made some introductions and we were on our way! Nick gave us the history of the island, the people and landscape of the island. We made multiple stops along the way, including a little off roading in the bronco! We stopped at a few local shops along the route for fresh fruit, coffee and local crafts and jewelry. For lunch, Nick gave us multiple options. Please believe me when I say go to the Huli Huli Chicken. It did not disappoint and the beach there was peaceful. We made multiple other stops along the road, but my kids will say the best stop was swimming in the waterfall and jumping from the cliff there. What an adventure. Our final stop was at a beach with multiple sea turtles basking. Nick also jumped out of the car along the route to grab some fresh fruit that he cut up for us and we enjoyed at the beach. If you’re considering driving yourself, do yourself a favor and look into Hawai’i by Storm Tours. Let them handle the driving, as they know how to navigate the long, winding roads and the best places to stop. Also, if you request Nick, you’ve made a great choice to truly enjoy your day.

If you're thinking about booking with Hawaii by Storm, do it—and if you can, ask for Blase. I honestly don't know how he kept up the energy for 12 straight hours. He answered every question we threw at him—from Hawaiian culture and history, to the burned-out cars along the road, the best burgers on the island, local politics, Hawaiian pronunciations, food, plants, hidden beaches... literally everything. His knowledge is incredible, but what stood out even more was how much he genuinely loves Maui. Everywhere we went, someone knew him. He was waving, saying "hi" to cousins, friends, and locals all over the island. It didn't feel like we were riding around with a tour guide—it felt like we were seeing Maui through someone who grew up there and was introducing us to his home. The highlight for our family was when Blase helped my kids overcome their fear and make the cliff jump. It wasn't just another stop on the tour—it became one of those growing-up moments where courage beats fear. That's a memory our family will never forget. This wasn't just sightseeing. It felt like spending a day with a knowledgeable local who wanted you to fall in love with Maui the same way he has. An incredible day from start to finish. We booked this tour almost year out in order to be prepared. Communication was excellent the entire time leading up to the tour. Our tour guide was Dustyn, and he was the MAN!! We stopped to see turtles, the waterfalls, the eucalyptus trees, the black sand beach, a little cove, Aunty Sandy’s Banana bread, hit some food trucks for a late lunch, and lots of great conversation about Hawaiian culture and life in general. We went did the entire Hana highway, long day, but worth every penny of the trip. He had drinks for us in the truck and kept the conversation going throughout the trip. I would book these guys again just to see things that I think I might have missed. I know I could drive this road, but there is so much to see along the way, it’s easier to book this trip and let a guide like Dustyn lead the way, and you get to enjoy the trip.

It was quite a lengthy drive through some of Maui's many beautiful sites; the trip took around 13 hour drive. There were a few opportunities to swim if you brought your own change of clothes and towels. Nick met us with a variety of snacks and drinks, he is also flexible with where you want to stop or where you would like to overlook even though my family didn't skip much of anything. The vehicle we were in could seat 4-5 people comfortably maybe six people. The trip was about $350 bucks per person on my family trip I believe.

We had the most amazing trip all over Maui! Blaze, Spencer, and Nick were fantastic guides that went above and beyond to make sure our entire family enjoyed the trip! We'll never forget the memories made at all the great falls and beach swimming spots, that Huli Huli chicken (and ribs), learning about all of different plants, trees, animals, insight on Hawaiian history, meeting some of the friendliest people, how to do the real shaka, and caryoke! We definitely walked away, ready to share the Aloha spirit with others. Take the tour, support the locals, sing, laugh, eat a few fiddlefern heads on the side of the road, and make memories that last a lifetime! P.S. Blaze is the best!

It is hard to put this review in words because there are no words that will do this experience justice. It is truly a once in a life time experience that my husband, teenage girls and I will never forget. I did a lot of research before picking Hawaii by Storm. We decided to do a tour because we wanted everyone to completely enjoy the experience and not have to worry about driving. The tour guides drive this road every day. They know how to judge the weather, where the road work is, where the reflection tags are to see traffic around the curves, and heck even where the best bathrooms are. We wanted a private tour because we saw firsthand that the people on the bus tours were told where to be and when to be there, yet still ended up sitting on their bus waiting for that one person. The first question we were asked on our private tour was what did we want to get out of this experience, and at each spot how long we wanted to stay for. We did the Bronco tour the whole way around Hana. It has great to be able to see new sites for the whole day--not the same sites twice. Rental cars and bus tours cannot do the backside of Hana. Imagine riding with the top open, beautiful scenery and not another car in sight--for the same cost as doing a tour bus with another company. Saving the best for last was our guide Mark. By the end of the 12 hours, I can truly say that he felt like ohana, including breaking bread together and a hug goodbye. You could not only hear, but also see his true love for Hawaii and his fellow ohana along the tour. We got to hear, do, and see things along the way because he wanted to make sure that we saw Maui as special of a place as he does. Shawn--I hope you know how lucky you are to have Mark, and everyone should request Mark for their Bronco trip around Maui! Ok--I may have used a lot of words, but again words do not do this day justice. You need to do it for yourself. Again Mahalo Mark for this once in a lifetime experience!

The Road to Hana with Blaze, our guide, was fantastic! The full circle tour gave us a better perspective of Maui since the ecosystems on the two sides of the island are so different. We observed waterfalls, gorges, and stalls with homemade crafts & food - all pointed out by Blaze. He navigated the roads smoothing out the twists and turns plus getting us up the steep inclines with a burst of speed (ample warning to us.) The Maui by Storm excursion with Blaze was the one we kept telling our friends and fellow travelers about - Blaze a character who charmed us with his native knowledge and exceptional diving skills. Our tour guide, Nick, was the funniest and nicest guide I've been with. I had so much fine trying to fruit of Hawai'i and he was kind enough to sneak a strawberry papaya and share with us while we were watching sea turtles. Best tour I've been on by far; amazing fruit and the best tour guide! We were on the trip for about ten hours when we planned for eight, and he didn't rush us. Everything felt so nice and the Bronco we rode in was comfy, even though there were five of us (including Nick) in the vehicle.
