The Maui Must-Do You Can Do in Flip-Flop Mode
You didn’t fly to Maui to just stare at the ocean. (Okay, a little of that is allowed.) The real show is under the water, and this is the easiest way to get a front-row seat.

No boat, no long haul, just an unhurried hour and a half drifting over a living coral reef. Parrotfish, butterflyfish, and a whole cast of colorful characters run a tiny underwater city where everyone has a job. It’s the world’s cutest group project.
Our naturalist guides go slow and purposeful, so you’ll learn who lives where, who helps who, and why this fragile reef matters. Premium gear and instruction are included, plus optional PFDs or swim belts so you can relax and float. First-timers and nervous swimmers are welcome.

Ever wonder what’s happening beneath the surface while you sip your coffee? Spoiler: a LOT. There’s a bustling underwater city out there, and you’re about to get the VIP tour.
Our Shoreline Snorkel takes you right into the reef, up close and personal with the locals. Rainbow-colored fish, curious critters, and maybe a honu gliding by like it’s late for brunch. No boat required, just you, a mask, and a whole new world a few kicks from shore.

This snorkel was fun. It was off of the shore of Makena landing beach park. We went when the water was a little murky due to a south shore swell in July but Steve led us to clear waters. We thought it was one of those snorkels where you can hold onto a floating pad but it isn’t, it’s more of a free snorkel where you stick together as a group but are swimming around at your own pace. Steve also dove down and showed us a sea urchin we were able to hold. He constantly checked in on us to make sure our group was okay. We saw a lot of fish on the coral reef once we got out of the murky waters. Overall, it was a nice experience.

I drove an hour to the meeting site but there was nobody there. They had canceled the event but I wasn’t notified by the vendor or Viator. This was the second time in 3 days that Viator messed up by bookings
