Maui Afternoon Snorkel Aboard Malolo To Molokini Or Coral Gardens

Book this in the morning so you can go to the crater - it was too rough so we have to deviate plans. Otherwise really enjoyed the experience.

John and Sebastian made it a great trip. John was super personable and was very interested in our trip & what we had planned for our week. Saw lots of fish in the reef. It was a perfect afternoon. We did a more expensive snorkel later in the week, but enjoyed this one better! Great value when you think about the service you receive!

The crew and boat ride were great. The snorkeling location & conditions (lack of any real photographic coral reef) was less than ideal.

Amazing visit. We ended up in coral gardens Va molokini crater because of rough seas and I was grateful for switch to ensure we had a pleasant day. We had two kids with us, 5 & 6, and they had snorkels and life jackets and fancy snorkel floats with windows the kids could use. Darius handed out gear and was very helpful. Food was great and there was an awesome photographer on board who captured the day (for a little extra fee) which was a special bonus.

We were extremely disappointed with this excursion. At the last minute, we were informed that the company had changed boats and described it as an "upgrade," which was not the case. Our family specifically booked this trip because it was advertised as taking place on a catamaran. Instead, we were placed on a boat that more closely resembled a ferry. The boat was very crowded, and the overcrowding became even more noticeable once everyone was in the water. We were also disappointed that we did not visit Molokini or Coral Gardens as advertised. Instead, we were taken to Mala Wharf (Mala Pier) in Lahaina, which happened to be within walking distance of where we were staying. We had already snorkeled there eight years ago and do not consider it a premier snorkeling destination. Aside from seeing a few sea turtles, the experience consisted mainly of trying to avoid colliding with other swimmers due to the overcrowded conditions. To add to our disappointment, the "light lunch" provided after snorkeling offered very limited options. The choices were either a hot dog or a vegan wrap. As someone who does not eat vegan meals and does not care for hot dogs, I was surprised that there were no other options available. Based on the way the meal was described, I expected at least a deli-style sandwich or a few more choices to accommodate different preferences. Overall, this excursion failed to deliver the experience that was advertised. The vessel, destinations, snorkeling conditions, and meal service all fell far short of our expectations. We left feeling misled and disappointed and would not recommend this company to others. Given the significant differences between what was advertised and what was provided, we believe a partial refund or other form of compensation would be appropriate.**

Amazing experience. Friendly staff. Great directions if you a first timer. Overall great adventure. Must do Maui.

This was one of the highlights of our honeymoon we had a great ride to our snorkel spot at the corral gardens. Saw amazing fish and even a little octopus. Overall great experience

This was an awesome experience. Brought my one year old daughter, husband, and mom. The crew took such good care of us. I did wanna shout out captain kiwi. He assisted us with getting our daughter in the ocean and she had the best time! You can tell he is such a good dad himself. Snorkeling was really cool, saw a lot of colorful fish and coral! 10/10 recommend this tour. We also had Danielle who was the photographer. She took such cool photos and videos and we purchased the package!

Very friendly and courteous to everyone on board. Also professional and safety a priority. Would recommend to friends and family if they were to travel to Maui.

We had a great time! We ended up going Coral Gardens, the water was too choppy at the crater, I was so pleasantly surprised! We snorkeled with turtles and so so many beautiful vibrant fish! It was the perfect length of time, would def recommend this to others!

Boat was nice. The waves were huge on the afternoon trip. We saw some fish and not any turtles. I recommend going in the AM for calmer trip. Crew was great.

The trip on the boat is just as worthwhile as the snorkeling - great views and lovely experience. The tour operators were friendly and knowledgeable. A great time!

If you get motion sickness, prepare by wearing a bracelet or something. Great staff, amazing vibes. And if you get sick, the bonus is that the fish will be happy for you.

Good (not great) variety of marine animals. Saw one reef shark, one eel, and different fish. They didn't provide enough veggie foods although they stated they would.

We had so much fun on this trip! Reef safe sunscreen provided on board. The staff was friendly and entertaining. The water was crystal clear, we so so many fish! For lunch - Hot dogs, chips & water. 21+ has the choice to buy an alcoholic beverage if they so please.

We did this tour to Coral Gardens instead of Molokini, which was disappointing but understandable as it is always subject to weather conditions for safety and comfort. The tour was very well organised and run. The snorkel experience at coral gardens was “ok”. Some fish life and pleasant to do but for experienced snorkelers who have seen amazing places, it was average. Some first time snorkelers loved it and for them, it was mind blowing. We booked for molikini, and because we are on a cruise ship, this was our one shot at seeing what is meant to be a fantastic site. Never mind, not the skippers fault, this crew run a good tour and will look after you well.

Afternoon trips tend to go Coral gardens and not the crater d/t rougher seas, but we still had a good time. Staff was very friendly and good with all guests

We found out that the afternoon snorkeling is very seldom able to go to the crater due to the trade winds. If I had known this in advance we would have booked a morning excursion. The snorkeling where we went was average, at best.

We booked a trip for Thursday. They didn’t have us on the manifest and we had to wait a half an hour to see if anyone else canceled in order for us to board the boat. We got back two hours late to find our car was towed because we went over the time that cost us $180. Overall the experience was awful. The waves were too much to be able to get near the reef to even snorkel would not recommend the trip should’ve been canceled.

Molokini could change to coral turtle reef. I wish they told us before our trip. Food was costco hot dogs and chips

We took an afternoon snorkel excursion with the family and had mixed feelings. The crew was genuinely lovely — friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone felt comfortable, especially the kids. That part of the trip was great. Unfortunately, the snorkel spot itself was underwhelming. Visibility wasn't great and we didn't see many fish at all, which was disappointing given how much we'd been looking forward to it. If you're booking this, I'd recommend going for the morning excursion to Molokini instead — from what we heard on board, that trip tends to have much better visibility and marine life. Overall, a decent outing thanks to the crew, but the location for our particular trip left something to be desired.

A bit disappointing. The crew was nice, helpful and the food was good. We couldn’t go to the crater because of the weather. Snorkeling was fun but not a lot to see. The one thing that really made this dissapointing was the photographer didn’t take our photos in the water. I would’ve loved to have bought photos and sorta of soured the experience.

They had a great staff, very knowledgeable. Had all the equipment needed and offered us lunch and drinks. Very nice time at a reasonable cost.

The crew were great, the drinks (Mai Tais)were the best I’ve had on this 2 week, 2 island vacation and by far the best value. But beyond value, they were just great! The snorkeling area wasn’t the crater and we didn’t see any turtles. So if you go in the afternoon be prepared for that. We were and we didn’t want to get up early for a morning trip. We saw eels and many beautiful fish and ocean creatures. It was very cool. We also liked that it was a shorter day (about 3.5 hours). We’ve done the 5.5 hour trip on previous vacations and we were exhausted and ready for it to be over. The shorter trip and late start were perfect.

The crew did not interact much with the passengers, which made the experience feel a little impersonal. Unfortunately, the food was also subpar and didn’t meet our expectations. The snorkeling was probably the biggest disappointment. The snorkeling area was not very impressive, with very little coral and very few fish to see. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, especially considering what we were hoping for from a Hawaii snorkeling excursion

I had a great time on this snorkeling tour! We had a beautiful time in the water, seeing so many fish and corals. I didn’t get to see any turtles myself, but some of the others did, and overall it was such a fun experience. The team was also very kind and patient when I was a little late because of traffic, which I really appreciated. 🌊🐠🤙

It was a good snorkel trip. Went to coral gardens not molokini- not many fish or turtles. Went still had a good swim. Hot dogs were served and juice.

Don't count on going to Molokini on the afternoon trip. They will take you to some coral gardens that are supposed to also have turtles. We saw some not very exciting coral and a few fish. Very disappointed. The boat Malolo was nice and the crew as well.

A must do tour if you’re in Maui. We weren’t able to snorkel Molokini due to high winds and ended up doing the coral gardens instead. Still beautiful nonetheless. The captain was very knowledgeable and had our safety and comfort in mind. The crew was also very friendly and knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a Maui snorkeling experience. I’m definitely coming back for Molokini!!!

This trip was great! Well organized, safe and fun! The staff was amazing and even met a Survivor All stars crew member ;-) I highly recommend this trip for all.

We were thrilled to get pictures taken by the guide in action kayaking and snorkeling. Do not take anything with you that you do not want to get wet. The guide will store your phones & keys. The guide will assist you with everything so no need to worry. Is best to go early in the morning when the water is & less people.

Disappointing. We were taken to the coral gardens. Beautiful coral but very few fish. It’s right below a highway. Crew were great and helpful. Just confused why the captain said it was time to get out of the water, but then we just floated in the sun for 20 long minutes before she started slowly boating is back to the dock. Total buzz kill

They did not tell us that they’re not taking us to Molokini cretor because of excessive wind. They took us nearby and still charge us the same amount of money. Ideally they should have canceled or let us know that molokini tour will not be done.
