Wonderful time on the manta ray night snorkel. The crew was so kind and knowledgeable. We learned some cool facts and got to swim with manta rays. It was awesome!

Reviews
The boat crew and people were great and helpful, and the manta rays are super cool. Although the location is a bit too close to the coast with lots of boats around and a lot of artificial lighting, not much to see except for one manta ray per 5 minutes. It’s a bit overpriced for what it’s worth. The meeting time and meeting point was really complicated and confusing. My friend ended up missing the tour because we thought she thought she didn’t have enough time to get there.
Although the tour is 2 hours, just know you only get 30 minutes in the water. No amount of time watching manta rays would ever be enough for me, they are incredible. The crew did an amazing job and shared facts about manta rays with us while we snorkeled. If you get sea sick, this is probably not the tour for you. At least 3 people on my tour were yacking over the side of the boat. Even while in the water holding onto the boards the water is quite choppy.
While the boat and water experience were a lot of fun (even though the water was rough and we only saw one manta ray), the check in/parking experience left a lot to be desired. Check in including picking up gear (wetsuit, snorkel and mask) were at a store front but then you have to drive separately and find street parking (which was very busy) and then walk to the meeting spot at a public restroom before heading the the boat. Once we parked we saw other companies that had vans or tents with gear. Had I known the arrangement ahead of time, I would have picked another company.
Wouldn’t recommend if you’re not scared to get into the water, felt the guides were discouraging towards the activity and we ended up being on the boat. It was a waste of money for us
One of the coolest tours I have done. The guides are wonderful. I do not swim well. They were there to help me get in and out of the boat. The stingray are amazing. The swim right under you. Touching you from time to time. The amount of time in the water. Was just enough. Great experience
This was an amazing tour! We saw several manta rays they got sooo close! The teams was awesome and informative would 1000% do again our whole group had a blast!
Absolutely awesome with a fairly calm night. At first thought the Manta's were just going to pass beneath us until they put on a show and came right up to us and turned upside down passing inches from us. Another doing triple somersaults directly under us. Its hard to describe the feeling unless you do it yourselves. Highly recommended.AAAAA +++++
The actual experience was amazing! But if you’re using an uber, just know the check in point is about 15-20 minutes from actual spot where the tour happens. Also, it says 7pm but it doesn’t start until 740-8. It’s a little inconvenient but seeing the Manta Rays was worth it! Would definitely do it again!
Wonderful experience! The Manta Rays are beautiful and come up right away and so close!! Amazing experience. So cool hearing about them while watching them.
We paid $100 for my 8 year old daughter to end up sitting alone in the boat because the guides wouldn’t fix her mask or let my older children fix her mask. My 8 year old daughter’s mask leaked, and here eyes started burning. My older children (23 year old boy and 27 year old girl) tried to help the baby fix her mask, and Addy, the guide, yelled at them to hold on to the platform. She yelled at my husband for trying to help. She did not try to help. The baby, incredible tiny self-advocate that she is, said her eyes hurt and her mask was leaking about 100 times before the guide asked her if she wanted to get out of the water. Our girl ended up being taken back to the boat, no guides attempted to help with her leaky mask. When we got back on the boat 20 minutes later, the baby said “I wish my masked didn’t leak, that was so cool, can we go again tomorrow??” So yeah, cranky, useless guides that won’t help with leaky masks.
Really great experience and fun boat operators and facilitators. I would def recommend and would do it again! Glad I did it!
Disorganized at the dock. No sign for check-in. Walked around for 15 minutes before anyone showed up. 30 minutes later someone came with a sign.
Unfortunately this was a lot of waiting around . It was not a 2 hour excursion as described. 5 minute boat ride each way with 30 minutes in water. Total of about 40-50 minute trip
Super easy trip took 5 mins to reach the spot, great safe setup we go every time we come to kona. Highly recommend
Fantastic time. Highly recommend it
Addy and her crew were amazing- super knowledgeable & felt safe at all times. We saw 5 Mantas!!! Thank you!
It was a fantastic experience, although if you get motion sickness easy this experience my be hard for you. Getting back on the boat I felt a little nauseous after being in the water. But it's worth it to see the manta rays we saw at least two. I recommend bringing a disposable waterproof camera to take pictures. Sam was our guide and she was super cool and was very informative
Great experience! Guides were very knowledgeable about the manta rays We got to see 2 of them. Was nice to have the wet suit
Incredible 10 out of 10 Great tour perfect amount of time the guides were great and informative mantas get so close
Amazing night snorkeling with manta rays. The guide was friendly, funny, and made everything feel safe and easy. We saw five manta rays, and it truly felt like a mystical experience.
This was even better than the great reviews. You need to do it to understand- words don’t do justice. Colby and the dive crew made sure we were both safe and had a great time. Very professional with excellent equipment! My wife was hesitant to go, but it was a top highlight of our Kona visit. Highly recommend!
Really nice tour guides and seeing the mantas was amazing
The experience in the water was absolutely amazing. Sam was very professional and attentive, and he explained a lot about the manta rays in a clear and interesting way. The mantas were huge and incredibly impressive, and I loved learning that each one even has its own name. Overall, the snorkeling itself was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend it. The only downside was the logistics before getting into the water. The meeting point was a little difficult to find, and after we arrived and picked up our wetsuits, we were surprised to learn that we had to make our own way to the snorkeling site. It was about a 30-minute walk, and we had expected some kind of transportation to be provided. I think it would be much more convenient if the equipment could be distributed directly at the snorkeling site, or if transportation between the meeting point and the site were provided. That said, once we got into the water and saw the manta rays, all of those frustrations quickly disappeared. The underwater experience was truly unforgettable and absolutely worth it.
This is an absolutely must do adventure while you're here at kona island. The manta rays are so big and get close. The tour guides were extremely helpful and my sister and I had an amazing time!
Do not book this tour the employee addy was extremely rude and ruined my experience I paid 198 for 2 people and spent less than 5 minutes in the water
It was an amazing experience. The manta rays swam right under us. They’re so beautiful and majestic. I highly recommend this experience.
Amazing experience. We saw so many manta rays (they swim up so close, make sure you try not to touch them cause they are within arms reach). Guides were awesome and swam us around to get different views. Can’t miss this experience if you’re in Kona.
It was an excellent experience. From checkin, to boarding the boat, to the snorkeling. Everything was great and all the guides and captains were excellent! It was the highlight of my trip and would definitely do it again.
This is probably one of the best experiences on water I have had. Mata Rays are such a majestic creature and to see them inches from your face underwater was unreal. I left truly in awe!
This excursion went pretty well overall. Areas of improvement could be having more than one employee behind the desk checking people in for their tours/issuing equipment. Easily a 20 min wait in line to get checked in at the main office. It would have been nice to have a check in location by the harbor so that it was all done at one time without having to drive to a separate location. Parking is limited so it would be nice if a shuttle ran from the office to the boat harbor. 30 minutes of manta ray time; the two hour tour timeline includes all the transportation time and check-in protocol.
Very kind staff and professional. We had Manta Rays come right up to us. So cool!! It was a highlight of our trip.
This was as amazing as everyone says! The crew got us in and out of the water safely! Was informative and we got to see a lot of manta rays mainly Kenzi, Janis and Santa Maria. They come so close and I got great videos. This truly is something you can only do on the bog island and I highly recommend. It started raining at the end of our snorkel session and that just added some magic.
We saw lots of rays. They came a few inches from us. It was so cool to see them up close. Loved the tour. You just have to know how to float with a swim noodle. I am usually afraid of ocean but this was very easy. Only complaint is the parking situation. Had to walk 0.2 miles to the meeting spot. I also heard a person fighting over a spot saying some no t nice words to each other
Very easy to schedule and coordinate. Bring your phone in a waterproof case to take pics. Very well organized and friendly staff that are good at their jobs.
Magical I still have a hard time believing this experience actually happened. These creatures are so wonderful. The crew is great at navigating where the mantas are and kept everyone safe. There were 2 people with anxiety attacks that they calmly escorted back to the boat without it interfering with the rest of the groups time in the water. Great team, great animals, overall would absolutely book with this company again.
We only saw about 3 mantas during our time in the water (from the other groups' hoots and hollers, it sounds like they saw more), but it was absolutely worth it. They came under our group. One did a flip right under the board's light. It really was such an incredible experience.
So much fun! The manta rays are incredible creatures. And the staff are very helpful & informative. Best part of my Hawaii trip hands down!
It was a great experience. Totally a must do.
Was a bit apprehensive at first but the crew did a great job of reassuring everyone. Great vibes and it was amazing seeing the manta rays from so close. A must on Hawai'i Island.
Super cool! The crew was very helpful and engaged. They wanted to ensure that everyone was safe and worked hard to find the Manta Rays- which we did! Tour was 1 1/2 hrs which was the perfect amount!
Most amazing interaction with the ocean at night and totally erased my fears of snorkeling at night! Super awesome tour and totally worth every moment.
The Manta Rays were numerous and active - beautiful and gentle creatures. The guides - Mia, Jake, and Dennis, were so kind and especially helpful!
Dolphin Discoveries was great! They did an amazing job and the hard work that the water crew performed was impressive. Shout out to Jake, Jack and Ethan!
We had a great time last night even with rain. The in water guides- Jack, Ethan and Jake were great. Amazing how much they had to do and such hard work. It was very rocky but we never felt unsafe. Overall it was very cool to see the manta rays. Great tour, highly recommend. My kids loved it, top 3 excursion!
Excellent and very safe! Staff very attentive and knowledgeable! The mantas were amazing, we saw so many!
Ps use the bathroom prior to going out as the bathrooms are locked by the time you get back to shore
It was my first time and I truly enjoyed watching these manta-rays up close! The Crew was very helpful!
It was an incredible experience to see the manta rays swimming so close to us. I also appreciate that the guides were very knowledgeable and extremely patient. I started to feel sea sick towards the end of the experience and the guides ended up taking me back to the boat, providing water, and were very kind.
Was one of the better value options, the time in the water was perfect for my kids 12 and 15 yrs old. We saw many Manta Ray’s and really up close, this was a fantastic experience and a must do for Big Island.
