We enjoyed the experience. The reason for not giving a 5 star is several reasons. Our guide was unprepared and not knowledgeable. First, the video wouldn't work, he said, never happened to me. He made almost no effort to fix or get help. So then he just talked to us. I asked several questions about the bean problem worldwide. He had no clue what I was talking about. It is well known that disease, global issues etc had affected the price. The reason for my question was is this company attempting to add acreage to bring stability to crops. The other workers on the tour were more knowledgeable and talkative then he. I even stopped a passerby employee to ask about the roaster which wasn't operating at the time. The chocolate was very good, a little pricey, really enjoyed the dark

Excellent tour, both guided and self-guided. Super helpful clerk and EASY to buy chocolate!
Absolutely worth your time and your money! You can totally larp as Augustus Gloop and eat as much chocolate as you want. Everyone is way nicer than Willy Wonka and chocolate is way better than you can imagine
Loved this tour and all the chocolate we tasted! I don’t normally love dark chocolate, but this chocolate was perfectly flavorful and only minimally bitter. It reminded me of dark chocolate I tried in Quito, Ecuador. 100% would recommend this tour!
This was a fun experience. We enjoyed seeing the chocolate process and especially liked the chocolate fountain tasting!
After the adventure of finding the meeting place we boarded the van for the short trip to the Manoa chocolate factory. Although the factory is modest in size, the Manoa people are serious about making great chocolate products. Georgie gave us the basics and we arched a short film about Manoa origins. Then we each got a golden spoon and explored the factory while sampling warm chocolate from chocolate fountains. This is very good chocolate! This tour is interesting and fun, we felt like kids tasting chocolate and identifying scents and being treated to coconut ice cream. Well behaved children might enjoy this? Steep staircase in one area. Lovely little gift shop where you can buy some bars to take home. I’m really into chocolate and already loved Manoa chocolate for its great flavor and smooth texture, so I really enjoyed the tour.
Amazing experience, a little hard to get to. But lots of fun and yummy chocolate. Informative and great staff!
Nice and short. Informational and tasty! Was nice we did not have to wait for the whole group to finish before taking us back to our vehicle.
Fun! Short, sweet, and to the point! Good activity to learn about local production with the whole family. Good activity for kids.
This was a pleasant stop, but it wasn’t the hands-on tour I expected. I came hoping to learn more about chocolate packaging and molding. Most of that was shown on video. I’ve taken stronger factory tours elsewhere, so the difference stood out. A staff member in the shop was available, but the tour itself was largely a screen. That approach can work and it’s efficient. For the price, I wanted more of a person walking through the process with you. The samples were a nice touch. They don’t replace that human piece. If you’re visiting Hawaii and want to understand how food is actually grown and made, book a farm tour. Those are the experiences that show the land, the work, and the people. This kind of video-led shop tour is fine as a quick add-on. It’s not a substitute for being on a farm.
amazing experience that was super informative. loved trying all the chocolate and the tea
A fun experience and learned a lot about chocolate. The tastings were a yummy bonus. Highly recommend.
This was a wonderful experience! The tour host Georgie was lovely and clear in her direction and guidance. There is a video in the beginning where you learn about the history of Manoa and then the rest is a self-guided tour. We loved getting to taste the chocolate, see how it's made, and observe the factory in action!
We had such a great experience on the Mānoa Chocolate Factory tour in Kailua! The tour was interesting, fun, and very well organized. We loved learning about how chocolate is made, from cacao bean to finished bar, and the tasting portion was definitely a highlight. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. It was a unique and enjoyable experience, and the chocolate was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kailua or looking for a fun local activity in Hawaiʻi!
The tour was very educational, really enjoyed the chocolate samples.
It was an amazing learning experience. It was fun learning about the process and getting to sample each of the unique flavors.
Amazing experience! Took my teenage kids in the summer and they were apprehensive at first but ended up learning a lot and having fun! We each got a special gold spoon for tasting warm chocolate from fountains and got to taste all the variations from all over the Hawaii islands.
This place was amazing. Such a cool experience to see the chocolate late making process and you get unlimited samples of milk, dark, white and cocao liquor. It was so much fun and the staff is really nice and helpful. You take a short bus ride from the parking lot. It’s not too far from Honolulu so definitely make this part of your trip to Honolulu.
I had a great time at the Manoa bar chocolate factory. It was interesting to learn how the company was started here in Hawaii. It was neat to hear the story of Dillon, a local, and how he created such a wonderful chocolate brand, Manoa.
What an awesome time at the chocolate factory! There was so many samples along the tour. Georgia was so kind and answered all questions thoroughly. For $45 you get a golden spoon (very great quality), chocolate samples through out and a mystery bar. Highly recommend
I had a great time learning the process of manoa chocolate. I had been to the Honolulu shop location and decided the factory tour after learning about their local roots. So good to try the samples and see what they do.
Absolutely amazing! Good chocolate educational and fun!!
This was a really great tour. We came with kids and they loved doing the little questionnaire as they went through the tour. The Golden Spoon samples were amazing!! There are additional samples in the gift store. All the staff were exceptional.
