We cannot praise this experience enough! Not only was it educational, because we learned so much about different cultures, but it was an absolute blast!! Our tour guide was extremely fun, patient (we’ve never paddle boarded before), and knowledgeable. It was very different from any other activity we’ve booked, but different in the best way possible. If you are hesitant for any reason, BOOK NOW! You won’t regret it.
Beyond amazing. It was one of the best travel experiences we have had in years. The atmosphere, the organization, our guide....everything was amazing.
Toa provided a tremendous guided tour through the river of the Polynesian Cultural Center. These controlled conditions -- the artificial body of water is only a few feet deep -- were perfect for our group of adults, teenagers and a preteen to get paddleboarding experience without trepidation. As we leisurely paddled, Tao highlighted Polynesian myths that were all the more memorable because of his animated delivery combined with quiet setting. This is a unique tour that should not be missed.
Highly recommended. Had an amazing time night kayaking. I would highly recommend doing it at least once a trip.
Our guide was amazing. We ended up getting lucky because it was just us. He was attentive to see if we were doing okay and gave us facts about the islands which was cool. We had an amazing time with our guide.
A must do. Relaxing, informative, fun and lots of history. Our guide was very good. He taught us a lot about each stop around the river. He was very engaging and did an exceptional job with his fire act.
Was great and loved the stories. Our guide was awesome and very interactive. Overall 10/10 and would recommend to anyone!
Great guide! Amazing experience! Good scenery, Loved cruising the paddle boards, would highly recommend!
Hands down the best tour you will go on! We had an amazing tour guide and it was nice paddle boarding and learning all the history. At one point you even get to Star gaze. Out of all the tours we did on the island this was our number one!
One of the coolest experiences, particularly for an evening in the North Shore! Our guide Fatu shared Hawaiian folklore, information about all the Polynesian countries, performed a fire dance, and led us in some star-gazing, all while paddle boarding in a lagoon. Our 10 year old loved it!
Our entire family had the best time! It was a great experience and our guide was so knowledgeable and patient with our large group of 14. We would absolutely recommend this to everyone.
It was an incredible insight lesson of the Polynesian culture, given by our guide. You will get a bit wet due to several small waterfalls scattered throughout the area.
We did the 9pm, the weather was beautiful, it’s a nice sheltered little area. The guide was absolutely great. It’s located about an hour and a half from Waikiki, make sure you plan for the travel time. This is something you can definitely do with smaller children age 4-5 depending on how they behave and if they will sit in a kayak for 1 to 1.5 hours.
This experience was super nice. Our Guide was great! He was funny and showed up even after his co-worker had called out just to deliver the best! You’ll go on a mini river ride through the Polynesian center and star gaze in the dark! His stories are super engaging and informative. He did an amazing job despite being alone for the night with a whole group! Thanks “cousin!” 100% recommend for families and friend (anybody really) if you are worried about the river being too deep or anything like that it’s a man-made river and it’s only about 3 feet tall so if you fall off the paddle you can stand no issue.
had a great time! i’ve paddle boarded before but my friends hadn’t. instructor did a great jobs at making everyone feel comfortable and was very engaging and thoughtful
Excellent. Relaxing and informative. Loved hearing the lore and learning about the culture. Our guide was hilarious. Had a great time. Bring a camera in a ziplock bag so you can take pictures!
Our guides were super chill and they made the experience so fun. We had never done paddle boarding at night and it was such a cool experience. You’ll not only paddle board through some of the Polynesian Center, you’ll also learn some really cool facts on their ancestors and their culture. Since this is not part of the Polynesian Center, we didn’t encounter any lines, or any people really, just our group. Made the experience very enjoyable.
My whole family was nervous about this… in the end they all loved it! The history lesson, the story telling was beautiful.. such a great guide!
Fantastic experience, excellent guide and stories, cool location for an easy SUP. If you’ve never done stand up paddling - great for a newbie: calm lagoon waters, easy speed with stops for the history on the Polynesian areas, and shallow waters. The LED is such a nice touch on SUP!! Went with my family, we all own and paddle board occasionally so cool experience as a newbie or experienced paddle boarder with a twist!
I picked this based on reviews. I really wanted to love this experience, but it was a disappointment. I couldn't hear any of the guide's stories. The paddle area was quite small- I was expecting something bigger. My teenagers were bored. It felt like it almost took longer to get on the paddle boards as it did to do the actual "trip". Would not recommend unless your group has elementary age kids. Would recommend giving yourself some time to explore the Polynesian Cultural Center though, which we did not and may try to do on our next trip.
This is a relaxing activity that is great to do at the end of a trip. Be prepared to get wet as you go under 2 waterfalls. You make stops along the way to learn about the islands.
We had such a great experience! The tour guide was very funny and we loved learning about the different legends and plants native to the island. Highly recommend!
It was a great experience. The Polynesian center is so beautiful ! My partner and I chose kayaking instead of paddle boarding. Was still a great experience. The tour guide was funny and informative. I would recommend.
Great. One of the best activities on the island. The whole family had a great time. Good for any ages.
We loved it - our second time on the tour! Polynesian Cultural Center was closed, so it was quiet, peaceful, and a fabulous excursion! Our tour guide was fabulous. It was raining, but don’t let that stop you! We had a group of 7…6 SUPs and 1 Kayak. We had a great time!!!
First time on paddle boards. We all did good. My 4 grandchildren did knacks. Koi Jay did great. We all thought he was a terrific guide. Very patient with us. He was terrific with the kids.
It’s fun and relaxing, this activity is not for kids and the stories are great and was good to learn about Maui and Hawaiian culture.
What a great way to explore the Polynesian Cultural Centre and learn about all the islands of Polynesia. This was family friendly and my 9 year old daughter loved kayaking independently. Thank you to the guides who were very knowledgeable! This was a memory we will remember and cherish! Mahalo!
It was a very good experience. To come away with some of the folk stories of Hawaii and of the handed down heritage.
The guide was really nice. He would explain everything perfectly, in an understandable way and had great sense of humor!! I totally recommend this experience 10/10.
This experience was AMAZING !! Must do ! So many laughs & a great group . Instructor was fun ! Not as hard as expected to do.
Ample parking on site. We got into the Culture Centre entrance & the receptionist didn’t know anything about the tour, so we had to walk to the other main entrance to the ticketing booth. We were then told to follow the yellow dots on the floor to ‘The Islands’, which we had to walk past the Culture Centre Entrance for. I didn’t realize til afterwards there was a specific meeting point that was on the website, but not detailed on the ticket (which can be difficult if you don’t have roaming data, so make sure you know prior arrival & it also doesn’t mention on the ticket to arrive 30 mins prior). We managed to find the location we needed to be & met everyone, but we didn’t get a choice between a kayak & paddle board (we both would have been more comfortable in a kayak, but my partner would have not done the experience on a paddle board so they managed to find one for him). The story telling & the experience was really fun & enjoyable for all ages, it was about 2 hours as a whole & we learnt so much while kayaking & paddle boarding through gorgeous settings. We would recommend, just add some specific instructions for people attending!
The concept is good, but was not pulled off very well at all for that kind of money. Hard to see attractions, hard to hear at times, creepy water guy wanted to leave towards end
My husband, and two of our friends booked the paddle board tour around the PCC. We were there at 6:45 and and around 7PM, the guide came and met us. Mochi, I believe his name was, was super friendly and nice. Talked to everyone and was engaging. He talked briefly about the safety of paddling and kayaking. We were all excited and once on the boards or in Kayaks we were off. Mochi talked story and told visitors a few Hawaiian words and phrases. Everyone was smiling and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Over all the tour was fun, educational and we will be back! Worth every penny. :)
Cousin Lyons was very cool! He and his counterpart were very patient, kind and extremely helpful. The group was small and that made it easy to stay together and also to be able to hear the legendary tales of the islands! Definitely recommend. Perfect for beginners, which we are!
We had a great time doing this. Uncle Lyons was funny and took some great pictures of my family for us so we had a way to remember it. We love hearing the deffrent legends from Hawaii. I would do this tour again with my family. We all really enjoyed it.
It was fun to see a different side of the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was cool it was so shallow, so there's no fear of anything happening to anyone. Tour guide was really funny!
Booked the activity for my wife and myself, company never gave us a time to be picked up, I canceled the activity, lunar legends sent me a message saying they would give me a full refund, then they renegade on the offer, I tried getting Expedia involved and lunar legends still refused to refund me my $207.00. Terrible company to deal with, so far I have notified over 2,000 associates and friends and family and have told them to spread the word of poor customer service from Lunar Legends. Over $200.00 I hope they go bankrupt, and my people keep spreading the word of there greedy business practices, I would give it 0 stars if ther was a place to put it.
the tour was short, but it was an unbelievable experience. the guides are very personable and the views are unbeatable
I went for my birthday our guide was hilarious and the other ppl that was on the tour was fun and everyone sang happy birthday to me 🥳
The only reason we didn't give 5 star is we didn't realize the center closed at 6 pm so we didn't have time to go inside and visit the center. The young man who was our guide for paddle boarding was very pleasant, full of information so we had a good time with his stories. We got there at 4 pm but you want to go much earlier to see the whole place, we thought it would be open on a weekend at least till 8.
The kayak tour at the Polynesian Culture Center was one of the best activities we experienced while staying in Honolulu. My husband and I greatly appreciated the Mookie the tour guide and all the great people who helped with our float. I would definitely recommend it!
So fun. Our tour guys were amazing. One said it was his first time to lead the tour. He fell off his board which made me feel at ease in case I fell. lol. Highly recommend
Activity was excellent I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to do this. However if you are taxiing I would pre-book a return taxi as very difficult to get back to Wakiki without a vehicle.
The guide was cool but I’m more frustrated with the “kayak” experience. Should have said “float in a kiddie pool” I was looking forward to kayaking not playing with toddler toys. False advertising on your part
We absolutely loved our experience. We were late due to our plane turning around. Cousin worked with us and filled us in the 9 oclcok slot which was so nice. I’m so glad we didn’t miss it. If you know what Ohana means before you go he’ll give you extra points.
Fatu made our experience incredibly special!! Thank you for such a wonderful time and teaching us about Hawaii!
Crew were very helpful and gave me tips to with a lot of patience. The stories made the ride very interesting.
I would recommend this trip if Turo is your guide. He was just spectacular. The view is amazing and the stories are so good.
