Late Night Manta Snorkel

Can’t say enough good things about this tour! The guides were fantastic - getting us set up with snorkel gear and wet suits, answering questions, and helping people of all ages through the experience. We say so many huge Manta Rays - anywhere from 12-16 feet across. The boat had a bar for drinks and complimentary water, tea and hot chocolate for the ride back to the pier. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the island.

We had a great experience, our guide was amazing 20 years of knowledge and diving experience. She was awesome! Did the night time snorkel, saw 3 manta rays and tons of fish.

We had such a great experience and saw several Manta Rays! The boat was beautiful and everyone was super nice and so helpful. The crew made everything so easy. I did take dramamine beforehand and I was very glad I did. Our boat was really smooth, and I couldn't have imagined being on a smaller boat. The Manta Rays were solid for a 1/2 hour. I really recommend this trip and would go again on my next trip.

Our captain and crew were awesome! We had 6' swells, so it was a bumpy ride but fun. Even with the rough seas we still saw a good number of mantas. The captain was very safety first and clearly explained everything about the boat (walking around) and being in the water at night.

Wonderful experience to see the Manta Rays up close and personal. Should be an item on every Snorkeler's bucket list. Great crew and captain

Wife and I went on the late night manta tour and it was magical! The rays got SO close! The staff was all very kind, from the girls who checked us in, to the crew on board (who made great drinks btw 😜). Got a little cold in the water but they gave us hot Cocoa when we got out! The boat was clean and well maintained. A much needed experience! Mahalo!

Such an amazing experience!! Every single employee here was awesome and made this adventure unforgettable. Saw the coolest stuff in the water while snorkeling and got to come back on the boat to hot coco after. 10/10 would recommend for anyone visiting the area!!

So incredible! Before we even got on the boat the staff was so kind, loved the gals in the office who helped us sign in and prepare us for the night! The tour was amazing, got to see some amazing mantas and the crew was incredible and so kind! Will definitely be going again!

Easy to schedule and good contact with KonaStyle. The guides were great and friendly. I was very happy that we got to see a manta. The guides made being in the ocean at night very manageable- not at all scary. It was also really nice to have the wet shirt and noodle.

We got lucky and saw a TON of manta rays. Truly an incredible experience. The boat has about 40 people on it and the crew were largely indifferent and disinterested (with a couple exceptions). But I felt safe and got to see lots of rays so overall happy. Definitely not worth the high price tag as there are many other companies who charge the same or less with far better service/experience. We booked late and there wasn’t much left.

Amazing experience with a great crew on the boat... very patient, very knowledgeable and are 100% all about ensuring you have a great experience. The only way it could have been better is if they had go pros set up on the rig so we could purchase photos ... hint hint

Such a great time!! All except for the old man who was yelling at the younger staff on the boat. The younger staff were extremely helpful in seeing the manta rays, swimming with us, and checking on us on the boat. And the older male on the boat was inappropriately yelling at one of them in front of everyone. It was extremely uncomfortable and unwarranted.

This was recommended by our hotel concierge and it was an amazing experience. If you do one thing in Kona, do this!!! It was unbelievable and my teenage daughters also loved it. The boat, crew and overall experience was the best. Cannot recommend these company high enough

I know the term is overused, but this was EPIC!! The crew was awesome, very knowledgeable and gracious! We saw a lot of Manta and when we were done they had hot cocoa and tea on the boat for us. 12/10 I would HIGHLY recommend KonaStyle! We did the night snorkel and it was amazing!

Really enjoyed this adventure. Smooth ride on the catamaran. Clear, easy to understand instructions from crew. A little more information about mantas would have been interesting for me. Glad we chose to go on this visit to Hawaii. Next visit we'll be too old. Time in the water was about right for me, as I was starting to feel a bit chilly toward the end. I was pleased that hanging on the light boards was easier than expected.

First class experience, solid crew and captain.. everything that was done was first class.. we felt safe and sound the entire trip beside getting to see a multitude of huge manta rays.. best trip in Hawaii.. don’t have to be a strong swimmer and the crew is very attentive!!

This was incredible!! We had such a great time and saw SO many manta rays! This was probably our favorite thing we did on the island. We picked this tour specifically because we were able to bring our younger kids and leave them in the boat while my husband and I switched off being in the water. Many other tours didn't allow for this, and we didn't have a babysitter, so we were grateful for that. The crew was welcoming and knew so much about the manta rays. Would highly recommend!

What an amazing experience! The manta rays are such beautiful creatures. They will get up close but they can’t hurt you so no need to worry. I was so nervous but the guides were great and made sure we had a great time and checked in on us! My friend said it was one of the coolest things she has ever done. The hype is so worth it/10. Be aware the water will get cold and a bit rocky at times but those are the only things you need to know before going because the crew has got you on the rest.

This was an amazing experience. In addition to seeing the manta rays, we learned so mych about them.

A must do when in Kona. Incredible to have these amazing creatures so close to you and Kona Style took care of everything and everyone.

I've wintered in Kona for almost 30 years and have done many kinds of adventures/excursions. The top of my list has been stargazing on Mauna Kea on a clear night, but seeing the mantas at night ranks right up there. Even though I was only a "ride along" and didn't go into the water it was awe inspiring to see these magical creatures up close. The crew of the Kona Style sailing was knowledgable, informative, friendly and fun. I'd recommend this trip to anyone!

We did both the Sunset Cruise / Manta Ray Night Snorkel and the Captain Cook morning snorkel with Kona Style and both were fantastic. The crew was very professional and got in the water on both trips to make sure everyone was comfortable. On the Sunset Cruise and Manta Ray Snorkel, we started the trip by seeing a momma whale and her new calf constantly breaching the water. Then we had 5 manta rays doing continuous belly rolls inches away.

Once in a lifetime. Captain and crew were attentive and informative. Easy in and out of boat for an inexperienced swimmer.

Loved this experience so much, we got to see so many manta rays and other sea life, and the crew was amazing at making sure we were safe and having a good time! Shout out to Micah for always making sure we were well taken care of in and out of the water, and also loved hearing his jokes and fun facts while in the water!! I went with my best friend and her parents and we all had a lovely time! The captain and crew were all amazing and made sure we were safe and well taken care of. It was a very cool experience and we got to see about 5 different rays + fish! Shout out to Micah for being super attentive and always checking in with everyone to make sure we were okay and comfortable in the water! He was very knowledgeable and also got a few good laughs out of us with his jokes! Highly recommend

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with aloha! We felt like ohana and welcomed with open arms. You could feel the excitement in the group of strangers who will soon be connected by floating in the open ocean with the majestic manta rays. The almost full moon left a gorgeous mind-blowing glow to the water, making the moment even more memorable, actually a bit jelly for the folks who went the next night during the full moon. Our group was a mix of ages, abilities and from all over the USA. The crew recognized this, offering assistance and a helping hand to all as needed. We felt taken care of with the attentive crew who continuously checked in with us and preparing us for the swim. Gear was perfect and swim crew were there for each of us, ensuring we spotted the mantas and other sea life. It was a perfect night with my husband to welcome in our 32nd wedding anniversary. We encourage this tour and crew 100% and we will be back!

The mantas are beautiful and magical beyond words. Truly a bucket list experience to commune with these animals and the local flora and fauna at night. I was hoping for a few less humans out there on other boats, but the mantas seem unfazed by the presence of the boats, rafts, lights and bobbing people. But what really set this apart was our Kona Style Crew and the actual catamaran itself. We have visited Caribbean mantas off Isla Mujeres and at La Ventana BCS, and our crew last night was respectful, knowledgable and helpful beyond measure making this our best manta encounter yet. They made our night. The catamaran ( which happens to be immaculately clean and spacious) has an easy on easy off stairway which was fantastic, but the guys were so helpful and knowledgable about the animals and their environ it really made our experience. They also genuinely care for these creatures, so it is a plus, plus, plus. I recommend Kona Style to all whole heartedly and I know you will have an exemplary experience like my family and I did last night! Thank you Hawaiian mantas and Kona Style!

Beautiful boat and amazing crew, but disappointing manta experience We booked this manta ray swim as a bucket-list experience for our large group, and while the crew truly went above and beyond, the actual manta ray viewing was very disappointing. The boat was beautiful, the staff was kind, professional, and did everything they could to make the trip enjoyable. They were honestly the best part of the entire excursion. Unfortunately, we hardly saw any manta rays, which was a huge letdown considering the cost and the way the experience was advertised. I don’t believe this was the company’s fault—sometimes wildlife just doesn’t cooperate—but with so many other boats out there at the same time, it definitely impacted the experience. If you’re thinking about booking, I recommend checking how many boats will be out on the water that night. The crew was incredible, but for the price and the hype, the actual manta encounter fell short of expectations.

The crew was kind and was very safety conscious. They made sure everyone got in and off the boat safe. I forget the names of the crew but it was the captains last night.

Kona Style late night Manta Snorkeling was recommended by friends of ours who did it last year. This was an incredible experience! The captain made sure to give several safety talks as to location of safety equipment and how to act around the Manta Rays.....no petting as these are wild animals to be respected. The captain and crew are protective of the animals and made sure to convey that. Unfortunately, we had rough seas, and it was pretty choppy. When seas are rough you do have to hang on pretty tight, this is not snorkeling per se but holding onto a lighted floating board. There were a number of boats at the location and after about 30 mins after not seeing anything we linked up to other platforms and then the Manta Rays used the lighted boards like a buffet. We were so close that they brushed us a couple of times. Although you cannot touch them, they can touch you. They skimmed the top and did numerous barrel rolls while feeding on the plankton drawn in by the blue and white lights. We were in the water for 40+ min and the last 20 min was a Manta Ray show! Even though there was nothing the first 20-30 min the crew worked hard to reposition us to attract the Rays. While waiting for the rays to show up watching the zooplankton was memorizing with the larval fish and small comb jellies shimmering and glowing in the light, the water was alive! If you looked deeper, you could see small schools of fish also attracted and feeding on the plankton. They provide mask/snorkels, pool noodles and spring suit top (wet suit) and once done there is hot chocolate waiting for you. They have a drop-down staircase for easy entry/exit from the water....in rough seas it was challenging, and we were tossed around a bit! You MUST be able to swim without a life vest. Would we do it again....absolutely! Thanks to the captain and crew!

Captain Dan and his amazing crew were able to accommodate my wheelchair accessibility needs and give me an amazing experience. Rather than focusing on “Can you walk?” Captain Dan discussed my need to get into the water and how he and his crew could help. I was able to bump up and down the stairs, which went right into the water. It’s the only place that I was able to book one of these tours. Many other snorkeling companies didn’t have the right type of boat or were already booked. The whole experience was first class and amazing the crew were superb friendly and knowledgeable We did a night snorkel with manta Rays And in the morning a lovely cruise to snorkel at a little cove by captain cook’s monument Highly recommended and will hopefully come back and do it again

Beautiful experience as a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thoroughly recommend this as a to do in Kona- Hawai'i. The wonders of the sea at your fingertips. It was great to be able to support one of the crew members- our Ohana to see his mahi and to hear the breadth of knowledge imparted to us on preparing for the Manta rays and during the swim. A big MAHOLA NUI to the amazing and friendly crew for their manaaki and care for all of us whether as a swimmer or on the boat as a spectator. Especially grateful when we heard the next day from the Captain, who rang to check in on us, that we had just missed being involved in a shooting incident that occurred minutes after leaving the pier. The highlight of our 2 week trip in Hawaii was the Late night Manta Snorkel. Kamakani, Trek and the Team were amazing and made us feel really special. Especially Kamakani. He took photos while in the water as well which we will forever treasure and remember. The Mantas are so beautiful and majestic and we saw so many of them. I will never forget this night.
