Great food tour! Plenty of food and drinks, very unique to the area, and history as well. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Kona's food scene.

The tour was led by a charming woman named Ellie. We visited some hidden gems in old Kailua Kona. There was plenty of food and cocktails in six stops. We learned some history and local lore along the way.
Great tour with Kai. Nice blend of history and great food. I dont eat seafood, but tried the ahi pole which was great. Pesto pizza was delicious.
Absolutely wonderful!! Plenty of food and drinks!!! Ellie was very knowledgeable and so fun!! Best tour!!!
Our guide was Informative, took us on an easy, walking pace. She addressed individual dietary needs, and introduced us to great places with great food and beverages!
Excellent tour with Kamakea & Ellie. Our party of 4 + 6 others joined the tour that was down the main road in Kona. We visited several local eateries and enjoyed local foods, beverages and history of the city, including stops at historical landmarks. Highly recommend for any foodies while visiting the area. Come Hungry!!!!

We had a wonderful tour with Ellie and Kama. The food was fun and delicious and the guides so fun and friendly.
I couldn’t tell you which stop I enjoyed the most because every one was delicious in its own way! From the tasty food and beautiful views to the friendly restaurant staff, the entire experience was fantastic. I would definitely do this tour again and would highly recommend it to everyone! A big kuddos to our fabulous guide Kamakea❣️
There were 4 couples traveling together and we always like to try a food tour where ever we go. This tour was amazing with Kai and Ellie as our guides. We sampled local cuisine and learned a little bit about the area. The places we visited offered great service and wonderful food. We actually went back to the Kona Inn for sun set dinner and visited Kai eat n drinks for happy hour later during our time on the island. We loved the poke - some of us had never had it and were surprised at how great it tasted. The fish and chips were tried were wonderful as well. If you are looking for a fun afternoon activity exploring places to eat and getting a little local history at the same time - I would definitely recommend this tour

Ellie was a friendly, informative and helpful guide, heaps of food and drinks with a great variety. Highly recommend.
It was such fun! Ellie was a fantastic tour host. We went to 7 different places in Kona and sampled delicious local foods and drinks. Ellie made it fun. It was a good way to introduce us to Kailua Kona.
We had great food, drinks, and weather. Ellie was a wonderful host, and knowegable about the area and history. Yay!
Guide was Kai, he's a blast. Knowledgeable, interesting, made tour enjoyable 😉 Would highly recommend 👌 Look forward to next year tour!
Great food tour! Lots of good samples and Kai did an excellent job telling us about the history of the area.
This was a phenomenal food tour. Probably one of the best ones I have been on. The guide was awesome. Kai took care of us from the get go. Tons of food and drink on this tour. It start with a good amount of History on Hawaii and right off the bat we are drinking and having chicken salad sliders. Then a chocolatier. The chocolate was outstanding - made with honey - amazing. Then Mai tais, and then Poke - wow was that good. We then got Avacado fries and a unique drink at Papa Kona’s. It was so good we went back and ate dinner there. A great place to eat and watch the sunset. Then on to Laverns for some of the best fish and chips I have had on not only the Island but everywhere else. They use a beer batter that is insane and homemade tarter so good I used it for the fries too. The fish was the ono fish and it was thick and delicious. Finally desert at the Gypsie Gelato. The ice cream there is truly good. This tour has it all and Kai made it special. You wont need to eat much after this. Plenty of food and drink. The value of the tour is worth it and i would do this again. Thanks Kai!!!
We love to do food tours on every vacation to learn about food culture and history. This tour was amazing! Kai was our guide and he was very knowledgeable about all things Hawaii and food. We had a great time and would highlight recommend this tour (especially with Kai) as a top activity to do on Kona!
Kai was GREAT! He was knowledgeable, so kind & the food was amazing! I would absolutely recommend! The Poke bowl was the best we all ever had! The history info we received was perfect! Thank you Kai!
We highly recommend this food tour. Our guide was Kai. He was amazing. Kai was very knowledgeable about the area and the history. We had eight different tastings in different locations throughout Kona. One of our surprise tasting was the spamushi. It was delicious. The portions on this tour were perfect for this many stops. We were so stuffed at the end of the tour, we were contemplating not having dinner that evening. Our last stop was to get a gelato. Which took me back to a Rome food tour we had done a couple years ago. The gelato was just as good if not better than what we had in Rome. By far this food tour is one of my favorites.
This tour was informative, fun and filling. The food was delicious and Kai our guide kept us informed about the history and current events on the island.
Great tour down A'ali drive. Ellie and Kai were friendly and fun. The food choices were diverse and delicious.
Ellie gave us a great small group experience teaching us about some of the history of Kona. The small bites and delicious mini drinks were so great. Overall, we had a great time and we would recommend this tour.
this was a very pleasant short walk with cute little stops. our tour guide kai was very knowledgeable and friendly!
Kai was amazing, informative! Best guide!!
This tour was awesome, and Kai was a fantastic guide! There was a great mix of food and drinks, with some unique Hawaiian favorites and plenty of options everyone could enjoy. Even though it was hot, humid, and the city was busy, it was easy to keep up with the group, and there was always plenty of shade while we stopped for tastings. Two of us aren't seafood fans, but Kai encouraged us to give it a try since everything was so fresh. We ended up loving it! I'd definitely recommend this tour if you're looking for a fun way to experience the local food scene.
Had a lot of fun on this tour. The guide was knowledgeable, the portion sizes were good and the flavors popped :) It started with chicken salad sliders which were very tasty. Then, we made a quick stop to sample local dark chocolate made from scratch with an ancient family recipe. The next restaurant was a local pizzeria that had delicious slices of pesto and cheese pizza. I don't even like pesto, so it must have been good. Another restaurant offered poke, fresh caught that day. The last place offered fish and chips, again, delicious! Lastly, we finished with 2 (just the right size scoops of gelato). Overall, a 10 out of 10 . Everything i was looking for from a food tour. 1. Trying local dishes 2. Delicious food 3. Original recipes 4. A knowledgeable guide who explains the food and culture
Super fun day spent strolling, eating and drinking with Ellie. Met a newlywed couple and a couple celebrating their 40th anniversary on this tour which made it even better. My husband, adult son and I enjoyed the delicious food and drinks along the way as Ellie shared trivia about each place. Views of the water were beautiful while we dined on mini sandwiches, avocado fries (so good!), pizza, fish and chips accompanied by island cocktails and beer. Non alcoholic beverages are available as well I believe. Recommend this tour and we'd definitely do it again!
We had a great time exploring downtown Kona and all the fun foods they had to offer! Our guide Kai was so informative and a great host! Would highly recommend doing this to find fun, local eats and drinks!
Amazing food tour. We stopped at 6 places that spanned from drinks, desserts, and local favorites. Our tour guides were great with sharing local history + insights about the island and town. Would recommend this to anyone!
Ellie was great. She was so knowledgeable and nice. All the stops were good. The chocolate stop needs to be permanently added. Ending with Gelato topped it off.
Great tour! Wonderful food and friendly tour guide, Ellie!!! Highly recommend!!
Wonderful food tour with drinks!!! Such a variety of taste. Food was fresh and temperature appropriate. Learned history about the Big island as well..
From start to finish - excellent tour. A must for foodies! Ellie & Ari were the best food /walking tour guides. We totally got our monies worth from this food walking tour! Kudos to Ellie & Ari for curating a well- From a creative chicken salad flavored with macadamia nuts and a dash of red pepper, to aurhentic cacoa chocolate ( i bought the critris and lavender), Musubi - gotta get the Spam in, a fresh tuna Poke, followed by awesome macadamian nut pesto pizza (best crust and toppings ever), the most incredible fish and chips (shout out to the fisherman) ending with desert! I enjoyed passion fruit gelato and my husband tried the vanilla bean and chocolate. So authentic and carefully made. Super yummy. Not to leave out beverages, we started with mango puree mamosas, a delicious Mai Tai ladeled with dark rum, local Kona beer and mango Margherita we were enjoying much of what is offered on this short tour. So much more to say BUT I will end with this: exceptional tour - worth the money!
Such a great tour. Ellie was a fabulous tour guide and took us to some great places and have us a lot of historical background. We were stuffed after our adventure so it was well worth it!!!
This was so fun!!! The food was delicious and the tour guides were the sweetest! This is a must do in Kona
Wonderful variety of food and stories about the history of Kona and Hawaiian culture. Our guides were BRILLIANT!
We took this tour yesterday when we stopped in Kona on the Pride Of America cruise with Kai and Kamaela(?) ,and it was fantastic. We learned a great deal about the historic port of Kona and had some incredible food and alcohol tastings. We made seven stops...6 food items and four alcoholic drinks ( non-alcoholic drinks were available for people not wishing to drink) The foods were varied and filling. We were so full we canceled our dinner reservations.
Great food selections. Really fun informative walking tour. Kai and Kamakea were outstanding leaders, working seamlessly together to shepherd us from one stop to the next. The stops had great views and each food selection was delicious..
Awesome tour. The ladies who guided us gave us so much information about the area and not just food. The tour even had alcohol at 4 stops. I have not seen that at any other food tours I have been on. I would definitely recommend.
Awesome food tour. Went to a nice variety of places full of local vibes. Our 2 guides didn't just walk us around but the gave us so much historical information as well. Even included alcohol which other food tours I've been on don't. Highly recommend.
This was a very nice walking tour in Kona that met us right at the cruise ship pier. I’ve never had Spam or poke before but I liked both of those items, to my surprise! The drinks are also great, and I particularly liked the Ube-Be cocktail at Papa Kona. You’ll also get to learn some Hawaiian history, and I thought Kai was a wonderful guide!
This is a must-do on your visit to Kona! The tour was fantastic! Lots of foods and drinks, hosted by two wonderful guides, Ellie and Kamakea, enhanced by local stories and information. The group is small and all the food was delicious. Communication before the tour was timely and accurate. We loved every minute!
Ellie was great at leading us to several wonderful eateries and explaining what we were having. She told us a lot of history and cultural background of the area as well. A fun time!
Kai and Kris were a wealth of knowledge. In total there was a nice variety of food and drinks. Learned about the history of the Hawaiian foods we ate and the places we ate.
The Kona Food tour was better than two years when we last went!! They dropped a couple of restaurants but added some fantastic new ones, which we immensely enjoyed. We especially loved the fish and chips at Laverne's! And the chicken salad siders were pretty good at Spinner's. As always, the mai tais at the Royal Kona Inn, the poke at Pa akai Poke (fresh, fresh, fresh!!) and the mushroom cream pizza at Kai's were superb! And of course we loved as usual the gelato place at the end of the tour! Kai and Kamahea were the tops!! Thoroughly entertaining and knowledgeable, they made us all a part of their immediate family!! You could feel the love and pride they have in presenting their tour to us. Do the tour early in your stay to come back later to your favorite restaurants!
This was a very fun tour. We experienced several food and drink places. Kai our tour guide had so much information about the island and knew the best spots to explore. We enjoyed the poke that was a block off the main streets. I had only had Poke one time before. This was so good I am a new fan. The chocolate we tasted was exceptional and had to get some to take home. The Gelato was awesome and a great way to end the tour. Bravo
History and food are the pillars of culture when you visit a city. Combing both together is always a good idea and this tour did it successfully! Our guide was Ellie and she showed us a wonderful time around Kona on a bright sunny day. We started off at the pier to learn a bit of history. Then headed to “Spinners” for a refreshing mango Prosecco paired with a chicken salad slider that had bits of Mac nuts and pineapple. Stopped to see the first church in Kona paired with a musubi snack. Dropped into a new local shop “Honeyspun” chocolate and had an unexpected tasting and shopping experience. Loved the lavender chocolate and excited to pair with red wine as recommended. Walked over to “Kona Inn” and had a small but mighty mai tai while learning some history about this previous resort. Took a short walk over to try the poke at “Paakai Poke & Deli” which was so good! Fish caught same day (never frozen!) and topped with furikake paired with edamame. Also enjoyed an ‘apple banana’ given by the tour guide even though the local farmer’s market was not open that day. Very good! Headed over to “Kai’s” and enjoyed bartender’s drink of the day which was a tasting glass of a ‘pink colada’ and paired with a funghi, Italian sausage pizza and pesto pizza. Then off to “Laverne’s” to enjoy a tasting glass of Kona Brew’s ‘Big Wave’ paired with a fish and chip mini plate. Finished off at “Gypsy’s Gelato” to get a large tasting sample of our choice of two gelato’s. With every step and bite we enjoyed the local flavors, history and knowledge provided by our guide Ellie. Apparently this is the first and only walking tour and it’s a don’t miss this opportunity for tourists. Love that the tour changes because the purpose here is to partner with local eateries to provide exposure to as many foodie favorites as possible. A wonderful mission and pleasant time. Great way for tourists to learn the ropes and now I have some new favorites to add to my list
We had a good time. The food was great and our guides were very knowledgeable. Love doing these tours at the beginning of our stay so we learn the great places to eat. Love hearing the history of Kona.
