Perfect night! Great crew and they were happy to share their knowledge about the boat. The experience was wonderful.

This was a fun, simple, affordable excursion. The boat is beautiful, the crew was friendly, the captain was personable and knowledgeable. He really seemed to enjoy having us. It was a lovely night. The description says they served “a snack “ but it was a complete meal and snacks were available.

We had SO much fun! Mike, John and Cesar provided us with an amazing evening! Dinner was good...there was a good wind so the sails went out and we enjoyed the breeze! Would 100% recommend!

Beautiful sunset, nice crew dinner provided, it was tasty. Mai tai’s were delicious. Sailing vessels had plenty of seating and table to relax at.

This was a very nice boat ride. We were greeted with mai tai and beverages then motored up the coastline. They served a box dinner of teriyaki chicken with rice and a macaroni salad. We floated for a half an hour to watch the sunset and get pictures the the half hour back.

We had such an amazing time on our sunset cruise! The views were absolutely beautiful, and watching the sun set over the ocean was such a memorable experience. The crew was friendly, welcoming, and made the entire experience enjoyable. It was the perfect way to relax, take in the beauty of Hawaii, and end the day. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommend!

Dress comfy, bring light jacket for cool winds, if easily prone to seas sickness take meds prior. Relax, Enjoy and Have Fun!!

Extremely disappointed with both Viator and Hawaii Nautical Big Island. We booked a catamaran tour during our vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii. Due to terrible ocean conditions, we requested to move our reservation from Friday to Sunday. We contacted Hawaii Nautical directly, and they rebooked us for Sunday. However, despite the rebooking, we were later informed that it would not be honored. The result? We lost $180 because of miscommunication between Viator and Hawaii Nautical. What makes this especially frustrating is that we weren’t asking for a refund or trying to cancel our experience. We simply wanted to reschedule due to unfavorable ocean conditions and still enjoy the excursion we had already paid for. Instead of working together to resolve the situation, the two companies left us caught in the middle, with neither taking responsibility for the outcome. The customer should not be financially penalized because two companies cannot communicate effectively. We booked through Viator expecting a reputable company that would stand behind its customers when problems arise. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. My advice to other travelers: Think twice before booking through Viator, especially when a third-party tour operator is involved. If something goes wrong, you may find yourself out of pocket with little assistance. A very disappointing experience and $180 wasted. Viator and Hawaii Nautical need to do better.

During our vacation to the Big Island, one of the excursions we wanted to be sure to do, was a sunset cruise. We've done them on the other Hawaiian islands we've visited, and sometimes they are great, and sometimes just average. But this one was pretty good. The boat was nice, and there were only 28 people on this evening, which was kind of nice. The captain (Michael) and crew did a good job of handling the tour, and we were fortunate enough to actually see a sunset. That wasn't a given, since hurricane Nolo had just passed through. In fact, our originally scheduled tour was cancelled because of the hurricane. But Hawaii Nautical was very helpful and accommodating to get us rescheduled before our vacation was over. The open bar was good, but the food was pretty average. Chicken & rice, and Mac salad from Pine Tree Cafe. Not my favorite. But everything else was good.

We absolutely loved this excursion. The captain and mates were awesome. There were also plenty of picture taking opportunities while onboard.. Drinks are plentiful and the dinner of teriyaki chicken and macaroni salad was delicious. Highly recommend it.

Cloudy day so didn’t really get much sun but on the flip side sitting out and watching waves crash into the mountain and water splashing high was beautiful. Food is eh but also want expecting anything fancy.

The crew was very friendly and accommodating! Plenty of drink options and snacks provided. We were surprised to even receive a nice warm meal with our cruise!!! Was a bit rocky so be prepared. Despite that, we all had a great time!! Would definitely recommend it if you got your sea legs ready!!

We had a fantastic time on this cruise. The Captain and staff were outstanding. The food and service were also great. The only negative is that the location was a little hard to find. Better signage would help. I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting the island.

We had the most beautiful and memorable sunset cruise with Hawaii Nautical! My mother and I had such an amazing time cruising along the Big Island coast, taking in the incredible scenery and simply relaxing and enjoying the moment. The weather was absolutely perfect, the ocean was beautiful, and the sunset was truly spectacular. The photos really speak for themselves — breathtaking colors and views that made the evening feel extra special. It was the perfect way to spend time together and experience the beauty of Hawaiʻi from the water. Thank you, Hawaii Nautical, for such a wonderful and unforgettable experience. Excellent sail. We all enjoyed it immensely. Just BE AWARE that Uber has a very, very difficult time finding you for pickup! You may end up standing at the loading area for an extended time. Ask me how I know.... LOL

My mother and I took the Kona Signature Sunset Sail on the Spirit of Aloha III out of Honokohau Harbor. During the trip I asked a crew member for a life jacket for myself and for my mother, and the request was refused. None of the 36 adults aboard were wearing life jackets. On board the same vessel, I saw a toddler on the open forward deck while we were underway without a life jacket, and other young children below deck near the bar, also unvested. There was also no pre-departure safety announcement or life jacket demonstration. Federal regulations for commercial passenger vessels (46 CFR 185.506) require a safety orientation before getting underway covering where life jackets are stowed and how to don them. We received no safety orientation at all. I know what this should look like because I saw it done right on the same vacation. On a separate commercial boat excursion, the crew gave a clear life jacket demonstration and told passengers we were free to wear one if we wanted, just not required. Same kind of operation, same waters, completely different standard. I reported the incident to the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Honolulu and to Hawaii DLNR at Honokohau Harbor. The catamaran is beautiful, the crew was otherwise friendly, and the sunset views were excellent. But safety is the one thing a commercial operator cannot be casual about, and on that front this sail fell short.

This was fun even if the wind didn't quit getting us really moving. Music was great. Crew was amazing! And the sunset was wonderful. Food could have been better. I would book with them again anytime.

This cruise was as good as all the reviews say it is. The captain and crew were so nice and welcoming. The food was really good and we had a spectacular sunset with beautiful weather so that gave us what we paid for! Well worth it! We have great family memories and photos now!

We had such a wonderful experience on the sunset sailing dinner! The crew was absolutely lovely and so patient with us when we arrived late. We truly appreciated how welcoming and understanding they were. The captain was amazing and even turned the boat so that everyone could enjoy the beautiful sunset from both sides. The sailing was smooth and relaxing, making it the perfect way to spend an evening with family. 🌅⛵️ The dinner was good overall, and the entire experience was enjoyable from start to finish. My family loved it, and we would definitely recommend this sunset sailing dinner to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing experience. Thank you to the crew for making our evening so special!

It’s was a nice lil boat ride. Workers were great! Very hospitible and friendly. Food was ok. Drinks were great. We didn’t get to see a sunset. So that is not a guarantee. Priced a lil high for 1 person.
