Great experience and very safe. We only saw one manta ray but she was a beauty! Crew and staff were awesome! Mahalo! Jamie

What an amazing experience!!!!! it was an early birthday present from my son and daughter-in-law who had done the same excursion on their honeymoon… my sister and I went and had the best time ever We may only have only seen one Manta, but she was beautiful and came right up underneath us❣️ our 3 guides were a hoot and very helpful!!! our girl Pua (sort if not spelled right ) who checked us in was the sweetest thing ever got us fitted with the right size wetsuit which I highly recommend because the water was only 74° too cold for this Florida girl lol I will definitely do this again on another trip to Hawaii hands-down on the top three experiences I’ve ever done in my life🫶 take a water camera, though I wish I had got pictures
We had a great time! Crew was fun. Saw manta rays! Very exciting. Highly recommend this tour operator!
Absolutely fantastic experience! One of the best experiences ever, and truly worth trying at least once in your lifetime. Everything was amazing, from the breathtaking views to the wonderful crew and the excellent group. Everyone made the experience even more special. Highly recommend! An unforgettable experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Koa, Max, and Taco picked us up on the dock and we had a short ride to the manta ray spot. We only saw 3 manta rays and they didn’t get as close as we thought they would, but the tour guides were great and super knowledgeable about the animals! Would recommend to anyone who wants to swim with the manta rays.
Not worth the money -over rated . 5 minute boat ride -8 of us on the boat -in the water for 30 minutes-surrounded by 50 other people-saw 2 Manta Rays -then back to the dock
Guides were friendly, had lots jokes, and got to see a couple Manta Rays. Highly recommend
Amazing experience! The tour guides were fantastic (Koa, Tako and team); very knowledgeable and absolutely comedic. My wife and I had a great team with a small group. Highly recommended!
Must be a strong swimmer. Not easy to get in and out of boat. Crew was helpful. Manya rays were cool!
Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to the hype. The manta rays stayed pretty far away from us, and the entire experience felt rushed and more like a tour factory than a personal excursion. We went during a full moon, and I wonder if the extra moonlight made the rays less attracted to the underwater lights. Something to keep in mind when booking! Overall, we left feeling disappointed, especially given how much excitement was built up around the experience.
Felt expensive for only 40 minutes from pickup to drop off.
Ride along with family doing the snorkeling as a non-snorkeler and I had a blast. This was a great "adventure" and total value for money in my opinion. I love boat rides and rarely get seasick so this was just fun fun fun for me, and I got great photos of the family in the water and the manta rays were visible from the boat as well. The captain and crew were cordial, friendly and kept up a fun banter with each other during the portion of the experience when everyone else was in the water, and I felt welcomed and entertained at the same time as being left to just enjoy my own experience in solitude (perfect!) Shout out to Taco, Koa and Whistler too for their kind encouraging support of another customer who was a first-time snorkeler & whose confidence needed boosting to help get in the water. that person had a great Kona Adventure thanks to the crew and it was truly heartwarming. My family also had the best time and we have My Kona Adventures on our MUST DO when we come back to Kona next time. You should too!
We had a great experience! Koa, Tako and Whistler did a great job making the trip fun and exciting. I got in the water and my husband stayed on the boat. We saw three Manta Rays and had them with us the whole time Others on the trip were not listening and the crew immediately got them out of the water to make sure the rest of us enjoyed our trip. Shout out to the lady checking everyone in! She answered everyone’s questions and was friendly and started the trip of fun! (Sorry I didn’t get her name)
We had a wonderful time the crew is very informative everything went perfectly fine it took us about 5 minutes to ride out and we stayed about 30 minutes out there we got to see two manta rays and it was a wonderful experience and a great memory thank you
If you’re debating whether to do this or not, I’ll save you some time. DO IT! It is a must see experience. The mantas are unbelievably majestic, gentle, and curious. The crew was awesome! Capt. Koa, Taco, and Kekai were awesome. Very knowledgeable and fun to be around. They keep things light and interesting. I’m telling everyone about this experience. 10 STARS!

Such a unique experience. We saw maybe 4-5 manta rays but unfortunately, they kept their distance. Still so cool to see nonetheless. I would definitely do this tour every time I visit. Our guides were very funny, and super knowledgeable. Everything was seamless and very simple. We were given a floatation device and had to swim like 5 feet to the board.
100% recommend this excursion in Kona. It was so much fun. Koa, Tako and Whistler were amazing hosts and guides. It was a beautiful night and the water was warm. As soon as we jumped into the water, there were two manta rays swimming below us. All together we saw four manta rays. They are beautiful and majestic. This is a must do excursion.
Small group (11 max) unbelievable night snorkeling with the Mantas! From our hotel room, we can see all the boats that go out and I am so happy that we picked a small boat - My Kona Adventures maxes out at 11 people. I couldn’t imagine being on the monster boat with 50+ people near us. Smooth check-in process, five minute boat ride from the dock to Mantas. We saw five as soon as we got in. Our guide Tako told us all about the mantas while in the water and on the boat. My own regret is not buying two tours back to back!
The most horrible experience. First of all, we did not see any Mantas that night. I paid for 5 people and it was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately we were leaving the next day so we couldn't take advantage to try and see them another time. The boat was super rocky and I had a 4 year old, and an 86 year old on the boat. I would not recommend this tour for small or elderly people. I thought the boat was going to be a real boat and not a blow up boat. If they didn't have life jackets on and holding on for dear life, they would have been thrown overboard. I paid extra for a wet suit but my son's suit was too big for him and it did nothing and he ended up getting hypothermia and very sick for a whole week after that boat trip. I also got so sea sick from the rocky boat and threw up for 24 hours the next day. Worst experience of our lives, everyone had a terrible time. I wish I didn't sign my life away and could ask for a refund but I know I can't.
I have been on 4 manta ray excursions and what I like about this one is that it is in the bay and only a short ride to the viewing site. What I didn’t care for was their snorkel equipment. It was on the cheap side and I wasn’t getting a good seal on my mask. If you have your own snorkel equipment I recommend bringing it along to use.
10/10 crew even pushed the time some to make sure we got a good amount of time with the mantas (we were the last group) crew was super knowledgeable. Taco was the BEST.
Crew and staff are great and knowledgeable. Explained everything and was safety conscious. The time went by quickly and I could have stay out longer. Water was a good temperature, I did not wear a wetsuit ect
This was a great experience! We only saw about two or three mantas but diving at night was still a very cool thing to check off the bucket list and I would still recommend this to anyone who is debating.
So glad we booked this tour! Koa, Tako and Whistler were so friendly and made the whole experience very enjoyable. I was a little nervous about getting in/out of the zodiac as I was 23 weeks pregnant- but it’s much easier than I imagined! We saw a ton of Manta rays- I counted six at one point- it was magical. My husband and I both agreed it was 100% worth it.
AMAZING experience! If you just want to get out, see the rays, and come back, then this is the perfect tour. No bells and whistles, great guides that share their knowledge throughout, and authentic experience. Thanks to Taco, Koa, and I think Mac or Max? Legends.
Amazing experience! We saw 5 different manta rays which was just incredible. Koa, Taco, and Max were super nice and helpful!
It was an amazing experience! They had a tent by the meeting point that made finding them easier than expected. The smaller group size made it more intimate and personable. Taco was a great guide and his jokes made it a good time. Would definitely book with them again next time we’re on the island!
Taco, Fisher, and Asher were great! They were knowledgeable and made the experience fun. I did a similar manta experience years ago with a different company and this was by far much more enjoyable and easier. The smaller group made a big difference. It’s an experience we will never forget!
Awesome experience and we were able to see multiple manta rays. Here's the stuff to remember 1. You need to bring your own life jackets for adults 2. For kids they do provide life jackets. The crew in the boat are awesome and kept my 8 and 6 yr old so comfortable and safe, they still say the manta ray tour was the their best experience of the trip 😂
An unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience! 🥹💙 Swimming with manta rays in Hawaii was honestly one of the most magical experiences of my life. I still can’t believe how beautiful and graceful these creatures are! One of the manta rays came so close that it actually touched me, and I will never forget that moment. It was absolutely breathtaking and something I will treasure forever. The crew was wonderful, friendly, and made the whole experience feel safe and special. If you’re visiting the Big Island, this is an absolute must-do! Thank you, My Kona Adventures, for giving me such an unforgettable memory. Mahalo! 🌺
Best crew! We had such a great time and saw a bunch of manta ray ! So fun! Make sure you scream haha
Great time! Captain Koa and his team were so helpful and we saw up to 4 manta. Boat was smaller so not as crowded which was perfect.
The boat is tiny and very rocky. My whole family got extremely sea sick. We did not see any mantas. Not good for little kids or seniors. I thought people could see the mantas from the boat but they turn off all the lights to keep it dark so the mantas come out but they still didn’t show up.
Neat to see mantas, saw 2-3 that would swim around float board. Short boat ride, friendly boat crew.
Fabulous experience! The crew was fun and we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. We saw four Manta’s and an array of other fish. Getting out of the water using the Zodiac ladder can be a bit challenging- don’t worry, the crew will help. We highly recommend the experience and will definitely do the tour next time we visit Kona!!
We did this tour for our honeymoon the night before we went back home. It was such a nice way to end our trip. Captain Mike, Peyton and KeKai were absolutely amazing! They did such a great job instruction, answering questions and making sure everyone was safe and had a great time! We were able to see three or four mana rays and they were so beautiful, I even got a video of them swimming underwater! Greta experience, would do it again!
Very cool to see the manta rays. Very quick and easy adventure.
This was an amazing experience and did NOT disappoint. These are truly majestic, gentle creatures and I am grateful to have seen this. Our crew was excellent and were knowledgeable abt the rays. It was apparent they had great respect and cared abt the well-being of these creatures.
If you are worried about it being in the ocean at night I promise it isn’t bad. The light that attracts the plankton is bright and you can see the ocean floor. If you are thinking about recording I would suggest something that attaches to your head. Two hands on the lights will help keep you from being pushed all over from the waves. This was seriously the most amazing thing I have ever done. I couldn’t recommend it more. The staff was super knowledgeable and made me feel safe as well. I will be doing this again.
Captain Mike and his crew provided an absolute 5-star experience! Parking on the side of the road was easy, and the boat ride out was short and smooth. You don’t have to be an expert swimmer to enjoy this; you just need to be comfortable in snorkel gear. We spent a full 30 minutes floating with three amazing manta rays that swam right up to us. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera!

My wife and I went as part of our 20th anniversary vacation and had an absolute blast. Koa, Jacob, and Kecee were excellent guides and hosts. They were so informative, especially as people asked more questions and they shared so many cool stories about their business, experiences, and the sealife we saw on the tour itself.
Incredible trip! Koa, Jacob and Marcus were wonderful and made the experience extra special. This trip was a bucket list moment and I would 100% recommend this tour to anybody staying on the Big Island!
Fantastic!! The whole crew were amazing and friendly! Taco had a some funny jokes and great info, Ashton, Taco, and Whistler are a solid crew!
We had such a cool experience! The manta rays were amazing and the guides were fantastic. Highly recommend this outing.
Our guides were great, very knowledgeable and funny. We saw 4 mantas. Wonderful experience!!
This was truly amazing! We got to see manta rays up close as they swam around, flipped, and ate plankton- majestic. Out crew Jacob, Koa, and Kelsi were fun, informative, and made us feel safe the whole time. Highly recommend :)
We had done this before a few years back on a big boat. But this tour was so much more fun. It's a more intimate setting, and Jacob, Kai and Kai Loa made it awesome. We had an amazing time, saw so many mantas and with only 8 guests it felt authentic and like the guides were very engaging. Must know how to swim, (don't lie). And must feel comfortable jumping off a boat in the ocean at dark. It is worth it! Do not miss this evening adventure. GoPro friendly. They get close, so suck in your gut.
This was the coolest experience. First off the staff was all super friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Payton for being absolutely amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The minute I put my head in the water I saw a manta ray and continued to see them nonstop after that. We had the best time!
