The Captain and deck hand were fantastic. Unfortunately the fish didn't cooperate. The boat was comfortable and the seas were calm.

Captain Monie was awesome! Jimmy got us all set up for catching the fish!! Everything and everyone was fantastic! Only negative comment would be that mine and my sister’s shirts got ruined by the Clorox bleach they clean the boat with! Somehow we both have white dots on sleeves and back of shirts! A little bummed!!
Our captain and deckhand were both friendly and knowledgeable. Our boat was able to land a 440 lb Marlin, which was spectacular to see in person.
Shaun and Brad were both great captains and people. Had a great time learning from them about ocean fishing. Had such a great time the first day where we were lucky enough to catch some nice fish, we booked a second trip the next day!
Gorgeous day on the water. Captain & deckhand were very attentive & considerate. The communication in terms of meeting area, time & handling the fishing license was good, though a in-person paper version would’ve been nice. Was disappointed with the actual fishing. Got skunked on a half day trolling the shallows with artificial lures. Didn’t even have music playing & there was no live bait, frozen squid, or shrimp. (I thought all or most harbors had a reservoir at the fuel dock to efficiently stock up on the way out). The price of a single person on a party boat was about half or 40% of a private 1/2 day charter. For that much, dropping a couple lobster traps on the way out would’ve been nice. Would go again, but with a more traditional approach for catching fish.
We arrived at the dock on time at 6:15 am to learn that Bite Me is an un-reliable outfit. Captain walked up after 6:30 and said that his mate flaked out/failed to show up and was cancelling our birthday trip. Lady at office told me to get the refund through TripAdvisor which is a 3-7 day process. Re-booking options presented to me were not viable. If your trip is important to you like it was to me then you should find someone who is going to show up after you pre-pay a fishing trip with these guys.
The crew was friendly and tried so hard to find fish and make our experience a good one. Appreciate all they did!
Crew member and captain were amazing! Really gave us a lay of the area and personable. Loved our time with them.
My son and I had an amazing experience fishing with Bite me. We caught a 180 lb Yellow Fin Tuna! Weather was great! Could not have asked for a better time.
Didn’t catch anything but it was pleasant no frills boat ride
Great captain and crew! We only got one fish but had a good time. It was a trolling fishing charter so not much action unfortunately.
Caption Brian and his deckhand did a great job. Once he noticed the Marlins weren't biting they switched it up and we caught a Wahoo. We had 5 bites.
My son and I did a 4 hour trip and unfortunately no one on the boat caught anything which I don’t hold against the crew or company. We still had a very enjoyable boat ride on the coast on a gorgeous day which is a win for me. Our captain Brad and first mate Robert are salt of the earth people that did everything they could to try to get us a catch. They are very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable and I would recommend them and the company. Please note to bring your own food and drinks as they are not set up to provide that. They do have a cooler for your goods.
The two-man crew did not care much for teaching or customer service. It was almost like it was an inconvenience that we (customers) were present. Even if there is no catch for the day, there are several things you can do to make it a good experience. They didn't share nearly anything about themselves or experience fishing. They look suprised when a marlin did bite. It took them a while to react to it, and we lost it rather quickly. I don't recommend. Go for an organization that does the smaller fish. Even the locals think the charters in Kona are a scam, where they just drive you out on the water for four hours because the money is good for them. I would have to agree. Had I know this would be the experience, I definitely would have selected another excursion.
Boat rigged to troll for big game fish and is hit or miss. Our trip was a 4 hour boat ride without a bite.
Captian Brian and Cam were very knowledgeable and experienced. It was a great experience and i plan on doing it again!
We sailed on Bite Me 6 with Cam and Brian… from the start both were extremely helpful and personable and were on a mission to catch fish. For a while it looked as if we would come up empty until we caught two fish on our way back in to the harbour! Cam and Brian never stopped looking and trying to find action. Thanks a million to both of you. Highly recommend Bite Me 6
We had a great time with Bite Me Sport fishing! The fish were delicious when cooked up!
We didn't catch anything but it was so relaxing and peaceful. I truly enjoyed the trip and would do it again.
We had a good time, didn’t catch anything but that just what happens sometimes. Storms hit hard but captain Ron got us back to shore safely. The crew was great!
Biteme6 !! Rockstar crew Brian and Cam. Mahi Mahi filleted up and delicious! Super patient with kidos 12&10 with lots of educational facts along the way. Multiple whale sightings and hook ups even in low season was a lifetime memorable experience for kids big and small. Our family had an absolutely outstanding experience with Bite Me Fishing thanks to Captain Brian and First Mate Cameron. We were traveling with kids, and they made it one of the highlights of our entire trip to Hawaii. From the moment we stepped on the boat, Captain Brian ran a first-class operation. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, calm, and clearly knows these waters inside and out. You can tell right away that safety, professionalism, and putting people on fish are his priorities. What really made the trip special for our family was First Mate Cameron. He was phenomenal with the kids—patient, encouraging, and genuinely excited for them. He took the time to explain the gear, show them how everything worked.
I had an amazing time fishing with captain brian and first mate cam, they were true professionals when it comes to fishing out here on the big island! They were constantly changing bates and lures and live bait to give us an optimal opportunity to catch fish even up till the last minute! We caught one Striped marlin and had plenty of action ! Can’t thank these guys enough some of the friendliest and educational fishing experiences I have been on! I appreciate the trip and the experience of a life time !!!
We had an incredible day on the water, nice intimate group. Got onto Mahi and Blue Marline - Captain Andy and Michael did an excellent job!!
These guys were so professional and did an amazing job giving us the best experience possible. We had seen one poor review of Captain Ron and the Bite Me 4 and were slightly nervous booking, but ended up having the best time. So glad we went with this company. They do a great job.
Captain and mate very knowledgeable and really tried to catch fish. Fishing is a tough business and we did catch a small one
Very nice trip and we had fun. Keep in mind it's a lot of waiting. Out of the 4 hours we were on the boat, we only got one bite and the action didn't last long. If you're expecting nonstop activity and lots of fish, this may not be right for you. However, it's fun being on the water!
It’s fishing not catching. The captain said they only catch a fish 50% of the trips. You will also be assigned a number so if a fish bites, your number has to be picked for you to reel in a fish. Since you go with several people, your odds of getting a fish are slim. The guys are nice and do all they can to get you into fish. The trip is beautiful. Go for the experience and feel blessed if you land a fish.
Very competent captain and first mate. We had a great experience. I’m not a person of many words so this last sentence is to here to make up the minimum character count.
Wonderful crew. Beautiful boat. Beautiful sunshine and would recommend to everyone. 4 star experience
The Bite Me fishing Charter was fun. We had a great time didn't catch anything but it was still beautiful. Apparently there were fishing tournaments going on that week so we didn't get a bite but it's called fishing not catching! The boat was great and the other couple was very nice as well. The crew were fine and loosened up when we got out to open sea. I would recommend this again.
Captain Ron was extremely rude, demeaning and insulting toward his customers, to include three teen boys. I arrived 5 minutes before check in (06:30) because the map provided in the email directs you to the opposite side of the harbor. He called me with insults, not help. Once he stopped with the insults and blaming me for his whole day to be fkd and asked where I was, I was 50 feet from his boat. We left on-time before the 6:30 departrure. This was embarrassing and made the rest of the passenger’s feel awkward the whole trip. He hid in his nest up top never engaging or speaking with any passenger’s the whole time, only to ask for a tip for his first mate (who was great). In short, this Captain Ron should NOT be in the customer service business as it hurts all who support his business including his first mate. Aside of this complaint, No bites & No fish were caught. They advise you when you board that 80% of fish you may catch is Marlin and leave no hope of anything else. The advertisement is false. Message to parents looking to book this experience with their children, Stay clear! The three teens on board were bored out of there minds. Two of them slept, and the other was frustrated because of no action. Again, the captain could of engaged as these are your future customers. The company was adamant about tipping ahead of time. Now, the reason is clear.
It is sport-fishing and we did catch a fish in 6 hours, had enough for 2 meals. We were very excited about this preplanned part of trip, having done many ocean trips previously, mainly in Florida. When we called to book I did inquire what we should expect and was told “everything is in season, expect a lot”. We understand fishing and some days are better than others, the boat captain seemed like a good guy, the first mate enjoyed showing us videos of fish others were catching. For 3 of us it was an ocean boat ride, for one a great catch. The crew does keep half the catch and there is a frequent push to tip, more than other fishing trips I have been on.
Small group experience allows all to participate. Guides were great! Not a lot of outdoor seating in the boat.
Very good experience. We had a good crew that was super nice, funny and helped so much! I’d recommend to everyone and will definitely be going again!
I went on the Bite Me 4, Shared Charter with 5 other fishermen. Brian and Clayton were great to go out with and we caught 4 marlin. Wonderful boat, skipper and crew.
It was absolutely awful my brother was puking sick the entire time and not once did the crew check up on him. We didn’t catch a single fish and they never touched the live bait they laid out. They also barely interacted with us or the other people on board. Not only that but they went faster than any other ocean fishing boat I’ve ever been on the entire time and never slowed down once. They also lied about the group before and said they caught fish but the group before said they didn’t. Would not recommend! The crews names were Lee and Andy
Captain Ron and Cameron were a great team. They were nice, personable, and seemed knowledgeable. We caught an 80lb Blue Marlin. They gave us as much as we wanted of the fish. Catching fish isn’t guaranteed but they try their best to make sure it happens. We had a great experience.
Unfortunately this adventure was a fail. We had hoped to be out on the water fishing, instead we were ‘trolling’ meaning we sit on the boat and wait for a fish to bite one of the poles they have out. You are assigned a number, and have to hope and pray your number gets called IF you get a bite to be able to reel in a fish. Very misleading. And on top of that, the captains assistant gave us a 20-25 minute speech and instructions, then was gone and we were just left to sit and wait.. definitely not worth it. (Also learned from others on the island after that it’s a bad time for fishing this time of year)
It was a great time learning from the deckhand and setting expectations for the trip. Lucky enough the captain was able to put us on a Marlin and one of our guys landed it after a scare it shook by the boat. ~200lb marlin was one of the coolest fish I've seen brought in and deckhand made it a great trip
We were on the Bite Me 3, and the crew was great! We got sharked on our Ono and landed a Mahi Mahi. It was a blast!! Great crew and great trip!! We will be back!
They call it fishing, not catching, but I caught my first blue marlin on this trip! Thank you, Capt Andy and Brooke for your professionalism and guidance as I fought my fish for 25 min. One of my sons unfortunately got seasick and Brooke took the time to give him a cold towel, which helped. Thank you, Brooke, for your kindness. Also, if you have never been on a fishing boat, these hard-working individuals make their living from tips. Don’t be cheap and bring cash!
Captain Shawn and De-Ron on the charter today nailed it! Ahi and blues all day with the guidance of pros! They made the trip fun and entertaining with a ton of local knowledge about the island and fishing around it. I will take this charter every time I come back to kona! Thank you for the great experience!
Three days ago, my boys and I went on the morning charter with Captain Shawn and Daron on Bite Me 4 out of Kona. We had such a good time that we booked them for the evening charter that same day! They are 2 genuinely kind people, and they put you on the fish. Their knowledge and desire to put a smile on their guests’ faces guarantee a great experience. We would have had fun without catching anything, but we have 2 Blue Marlin going on the wall!! Thank you for the lifelong memories.
Highly recommend contacting BiteMe fishing tours. They are a great group and will treat you fair. Also, remember, it is Fishing, so you may not catch anything and it’s NOT their fault.
We booked a morning half day shared charter with Bite Me and had a blast!! We met captain Andy at 0630 and were quickly boarded and underway. The friendly no nonsense crew headed directly to the baitfish area as we enjoyed our coffee, a granola bar and the beautiful Hawaiian sunrise. As a shared charter you never know who you will fish with and this morning it was a father with two young boys and a single gentleman. I have been on many charters and appreciated that the crew did not waste time (only a 4 hour trip) allowing the guests to try and catch bait. They picked up a few small mackerel and immediately began trolling as we headed for deeper water. To keep everything fair they numbered the poles and assigned everyone a number. Luck was with us as number four hooked up and the game was on. My wife took the fighting chair and with the expert coaching of captain Andy (The first-mate had the helm when we hooked up) landed a 74 inch spearfish. A few photos later and we were placing steak filets in the cooler. We offered the other guests some filets and an opportunity to take photos with the fish (unfortunately, the only hook-up that morning). Back in the harbor we grabbed 6 meals of spearfish steaks (we were staying at an air B&B and wanted to eat fresh fish all week). Tips: Book a private charter if you have more than 3 people. Be prepared to enjoy a morning on the water and not necessarily catch a fish (this is only a 4 hour trip) set reasonable expectations. Bring a coffee, bars for breakfast and your camera. They have ice to keep cool drinks and snacks but time is pretty short…. Tip your crew well. This company was professional and competent I would book with them again anytime. Highly recommend!!
We finished on the bite me 6 with Captain Brian and first mate tiger. By far one of the best experiences I have ever had charter fishing. The crew was very informative and safe! Will definitely fish with this company again any time we are in Kona!! I highly recommend the trip to anyone on travel there!!!! A +++ experience.
Disappointing Service and Underwhelming First off, I understand that there are no guarantees deep sea fishing. The crew did the demo, got us out to sea and we trolled for 4 hours. Promised they would use live bait to catch fish to use to catch a bigger fish…even showed us the live bait…but the live bait never made it to the line. Needless to say we got nothing except a few tours of the bay and everyone caught up on their sleep. Cost was over $800 for four of us. The cherry on top was when I could hear the captain bad mouthing us for not tipping… Dont waste your time with these guys. Literally bait and switch.
This was mostly a sight seeing expedition. If you’re expecting tuna or any type of fish for that matter, map out the nearest subway sandwich spot. Nice guys, poor execution. Our first clue was the look on the peoples faces from the morning trip. Then there was the cherry on the cake, they requested a tip 😟
I’ve taken 15+ fishing charters before and this one was perhaps the most underwhelming. The boat arrived almost 45 min late. We got there 15 min to be early, so that meant waiting around for an hour for the am trip, which we got up very very early for. Captain and deck hand weren’t even trying. They spent 4 hours mostly playing on their phones and chit chatting between themselves rather than scouting fish or accommodating guests. I wasn’t as much even offered a water for 4 hours. We were skunked with the exception of a baby 12” tuna that the guide threw back. At the conclusion the guides didn’t express the least bit of concern at an overall bummer day of getting start late then getting skunked. The entire operation felt very automated. Get the folks loaded up, troll for 4 hours and largely ignore the guests, then drop them off with a quick goodbye and load up the afternoon group to do it again.
Disorganized-hard to find boat at dock-did not have current passenger list (wrong day)-had to wait on two other passengers who got on wrong boat. Six passengers and five rods- did not enjoy being berated by deckhand because I am used to a different style rod-he jumped on a client for touching a rod at the wrong time and used some pretty salty language for the Captain who caused a fish to be lost. Boat in poor mechanical condition and not clean-. Not an experience fisherman in that part of ocean but I basically understand fish behaviors-felt like I was being trolled.
