We went on the last day of the whale watching season- March 31. We knew it was the tail end of the season. We saw no whales. Because we didn't see whales, we got a paper rain check for another cruise that we can use on any of the islands the company works on. First, what are the chances we'll go back to Hawaii and we'll remember we have this rain check? Second, it's a bit disingenuous on the part of the company to offer whale sails when the likelihood of seeing whales goes way down. I'm not a whale watching expert but when the likelihood of seeing whales goes under say 40%, cancel the sail and give people a full refund not a raincheck than will likely never be used.

Lovely catamaran and safe trip. No music or info about island or sea life. We knew we were at end of season so took a chance. Saw no whales, no dolphins. Discovered catamarans aren't as fast as smaller boats and can't go as far, so range limited. They did uphold a free "reride" no expiration on any of 3 islands they service.
This excursion was nice. Booked it because they provided beverages just in case there wasn’t any wildlife activity. And unfortunately there wasn’t much. Not the boat & crew’s fault of course but just an unlucky outing. Considering it was whale season was hoping to see some cool activity but they were being shy apparently. Would’ve been nice if the crew had more to say or explain about the area, etc. since there wasn’t much whale watching happening. But overall a nice time on the water.
Great Service and had Blast with the wife. Thanks guys
Great staff and beautiful day. Whale watching on Big Island is never going to be like Maui, but we saw some spouts and rolls.
I had a wonderful experience on why Nautical’s afternoon whale watch! Friendly crew, room, and shade & and my favorite…. a hydrophone to hear the whales! They swam in incredibly close to us and we had an incredible view! I highly recommend! 🐋
Great crew! The whales cooperated and the coastline was gorgeous! Stan, John and James took good care of us!
Very Relaxed Atmosphere with a capable crew. The crew constantly pointed out whale sprays, whale tail flips and offered and made us drinks. Just being out on the too blue ocean in the sun and Hawaiian breeze was amazing!
Great experience. Crew was delightful. Saw whales and dolphins. Loved that it wasn’t a large or overcrowded boat. Just perfect. Thanks!
Great experience. The crew was very helpful and knowledgeable. The vessel itself was clean and well kept.
We had the most amazing whale watching experience!
This is a great experience!! The entire crew is friendly, professional and helpful. They know how to treat their guests!!!! Our first encounter was without a sighting, but it was still a GREAT day on the water. Returned two days later (with complimentary voucher provided from the first outing) at NO additional expense and found what we were looking for. With or without a sighting, I recommend this to anyone!
We were not on a sail boat as described. It was motorized and a wonderful ride. There were whales everywhere and they put on quite a show for us on our excursion. We went in the morning around 10 AM and it was relatively calm. We departed from A bay after a brief walk up the beach. I have mobility issues and had no trouble climbing the ladder to get on the boat. The guides were informative an ddid a wonderful job to make this a great morning.
Beautiful day on the water enjoying the breathtaking views and wonderful crew to make our day extra special and fun for us!
Great trip, and the Captain spotted whale spouts quickly and we watched then dive. He then set a timer for 15 minutes and the whales resurfaced and gave us quite a show.
Fantastic! Although there weren't too many whales in the area the captain located a mother with her calf + escort. We were able to watch them for quite a while and enjoyed the trip a lot. Highly recommended!
DO NOT BOOK! We followed the instructions provided and our Uber driver dropped us off in time at the designated location. We received a call shortly after to ask where we were. Their response: “Uhhh, yeah, we have that problem.” They volunteered to put us through to the captain. Did not hear from the captain. Some other person called us back to say they were departing. Utterly nonchalant. We expressed our frustration and that we were will ahead of sailing time. That would not wait, despite their acknowledged poor directions. We expressed that we expected a full refund They initially balked, but then later called back to say they were offering a full refund. We were out a round trip Uber ride. We were able to book this the morning of because all other outfitters were booked. Obviously, there is a reason this was the last available. Please patronize a different company. Sad ending to our last day in Hawaii.
Wonderful trip, but we didn’t see any whales, a bit too late in the season. The company does offer a whale sighting guarantee, but I don’t believe it’s money back (understandable), but you can go in another boat trip to try again. So, my advice would be, take excursion on the first couple of days of your trip, if you don’t see whales the first time, then you can try again later on your trip. We will be going again soon, fingers crossed. But even without seeing whales it was a beautiful boat trip.
Great tour, friendly staff. Boat was beautiful and comfortable. The scenery is great and whales guaranteed.
We got to see a baby whale staff was very friendly. And offered drinks and snacks during the trip. Captain was very mice
Went out on the motorboat in the morning instead of the afternoon catamaran. Exceeded expectations!! Saw pods of whales up close. While we were stopped a pod came up to us- one humpback swam under our boat! We also saw a breech 150 yds from Boat
I have always wanted to go whale watching and since I read that January is prime whale watching time, we decided to book this cruise. We met the boat on the beach behind the Marriott hotel. There we boarded a shuttle boat to the catamaran. The crew was very friendly and helpful assisting us from one boat to the other. We were also given safety instructions before we headed out. Since the sightings can’t be guaranteed I went with the hopes of seeing at least one whale. We hit the jackpot and saw a whole pod of whales. The boat captain Rob explained to us that it is mating season and we were seeing multiple males chasing a female whale. What a great afternoon! Everyone was excited and we got lots of photos. The boat was extremely clean, the crew was super kind, friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely would go back on this tour again and I highly recommend it. Thanks Captain Rob and crew for such a wonderful afternoon.
The skipper and crew were great, free drinks & snacks. We only saw dolphins so can rebook for free for another day while we're out here. The catamaran is ideal for this.
We had a wonderful day with Ali and Michael.. They were so kind, we upgraded to a luxury boat that only took 6 people so we had the whole big boat to ourselves!! Front row seats, no crowd, beautiful waters and we saw whales! Had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this adventure and we will definitely do it again if we revisit Hawaii in the future.. He gave us 20% off for life with their company, so kind!
The best part was seeing whales. The crew was very good. The weather was great. Would recommend to anyone.
We had good time, even though the tour is more towards whale watching but sailors took more time to cover dolphins as well
We had a great time on this tour. We only had a short amount of time on this visit to the island as coming from a cruise ship. It's close to the cruise tender port so it was a quick Uber ride over. The boat tour was informative and relaxed. We saw many whales and had a great couple of hours on the water.
Great guide, fun boat, great experience. We saw so many whales. Food and drink on board were very nice too.
Seeing false killer whales was awesome! Crew was knowledgeable and personable. Great 1.5 hours on the water in beautiful Hawaii!
Good customer service, fun ride, friendly crew, unfortunately no whales but Captain Jack issued voucher for similar ride. We will definitely return to another island, thanks for taking care of us in our honeymoon
Fun, informative tour with a great captain and crew! We loved that the tour was smaller and being on the catamaran was a great experience. Saw dolphins and whales. Would recommend!
The crew were amazing. The directions to find the boat were inaccurate. Wrong slip number. Wrong boat name. No whales spotted but they did give us complimentary passes for another tour.
Great experience!! We must have had at least 50 whale sightings. The seating on the deck was so comfortable and the ride was so smooth that I could have fallen asleep on the short ride out to seen the whales.
No whales, but great boat ride regardless. Vouchers to return made it all the sweeter. Fun afternoon. Mahalo
This was a great boat trip to see some whales! The staff is very knowledgeable about the animals, and most of the way out were they were answering questions and offering up facts. There may or may not be a bar on board ;) If I have one complaint, there was no use of the sail. Let it breathe :)
Beautiful catamaran and good viewing of a baby whale, mother and the protectors. Very calm and relaxing experience.
Great trip saw many humpbacks, my pictures not the best but trust me we saw many. Highly recommended
Amazing, everyone should do this given the chance. Small groups, lots of space on the boat, amazing crew, and so many whales. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done and seen. A great was to see the island from the water too and watch the planes take off and land in kona.
Not crowded and professionally managed. Great staff, serviceable equipment and lovely company. We left on time and the Captain actually extended out tour a bit in hopes of seeing a whale, but alas. No cetaceans. They gave us a certificate for another try, which I thought was really above-and-beyond. It was a lovely low pressure cruise. Would recommend.
We had a wonderful time - Ashley and Joseph were a great crew. They were very knowledgeable and were great hosts. We especially enjoyed watching the ocean from the loungers. We had such a great time, we didn’t even mind that there were no whales. We did receive a voucher for a return trip and enjoyed a sunset sail too!
This was super fun! We did a great 1.5 hour catamaran ride out- saw dolphins playing in the water. Would highly recommend.
This was a fun experience. Captain Kirk and crew were first class and looked after everyone. They went above and beyond wherever they could. They personally called you to make sure you had the right directions, explained safety, talked about the whales and got you drinks. They worked hard to find whales. The one part that they can’t control is seeing whales and meeting the expectations everyone has about seeing whales jump out of water as we are all expecting after seeing various videos, brochures or going to Sea World and watching trained whales. Set your expectations to see spouts, the backs of whales or some tales. We got very lucky and saw a baby calf jumping out of the water too.
The people running the ship were super courteous and offered us refreshments at no charge. Had a really nice ride out into the ocean and saw some whales! The ship was really nice too. I mostly laid on the net. Super relaxing.
Very welcoming crew who shared the perfect amount of information (not overwhelming, we’ve had guides who drone on and on). And it’s a perfectly sized group — everyone got a good view of the mama whale and baby calf we had the good luck of spotting in the second half. Would have been a lovely day out on the water even if we hadn’t.
The crew was great, boat was perfect. Didn’t see any whales, but we had a beautiful day for a great boat ride.
Didn’t see whales but they offered us a voucher to come back another time. It was the early part of the whale season so it’s hit or miss.
We were able to see several humpback whales. The best part was seeing about a week old baby whale jumping out of the water for about 7 minutes. It was amazing!!
The advertisement was “guaranteed “ to see whales. None seen. The tide on the catamaran was still relaxing and fun.
We did a whale watching trip very early in the season and unfortunately didn’t see any whales but the trip was still well worth it. Getting out on the ocean, seeing the incredibly blue water and feeling the breezes was a great experience. Captain Kirk and his crew were knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. I highly recommend this experience.
The crew was absolutely amazing and offered a wonderful experience, very knowledgeable. Great hospitality and very personable
