Great helicopter ride. The staff was great and very helpful. Ben, our pilot, was awesome! He did a great job showing us around, pointing out everything. Due to cloud cover we could not get over the volcano, although he tried different approaches to see if it was possible! Safety first! Still, he should us a lot and was a great person to chat with before and after our ride! Highly recommend this tour and Rainbow Helicopter Tours!
Amazing time with the doors off helicopter tour! Our pilot Michael was so experienced and knowledgeable about the island. We had a great time. Would definitely recommend!
I booked this doors off tour for my husband and son. They were very disappointed. The helicopter only went up and down the coast. No waterfalls, no volcanos, nothing to see except the coastline. The trip was very expensive and was not worth the money at all.
I flew with the doors off with Michael as my pilot, he was fantastic. Wilson was an amazing pre flight guide as well. Will definitely fly with them again if the chance ever comes up. HIGHLY recommend doing this on the first day of your trip, as it allows for planning and additions on the trip.
Definitely a must do! Recommend doing early in your trip because we got great recommendations from our pilot of things to do on the island! JoJo was an amazing pilot and getting to see volcanoes from the air is once in a lifetime! Do the doors off, you won't regret it!
Our helicopter tour was a lot of fun and BEAUTIFUL Wilson at the office and our pilot were very accommodating
An excellent tour - well organized, nice staff, and beautiful vistas of the north and west coasts of the Big Island. This was a true highlight for our first visit to the Big Island. We did the doors on experience instead of doors off - glad we chose doors on for comfort and temperature. We would highly recommend Rainbow Helicopters. A great experience with stunning scenery and good explanations along the way from the pilot. Definitely worth it.
Arrival is easy using the map they send. Checkin is quick and straightforward. The flight was amazing! Beautiful views and the Pilot/ tour guide is super knowledgeable. We had Jojo and he was smooth on the controls, answered all our questions and showed us some beautiful sites. You get down in the valleys to see the waterfalls which was awesome. We booked the 8AM time slot and it was a little chilly with doors off. We had pants and long sleeved shirts and jackets. So be sure to dress accordingly.
Intense, breathtaking, matchless, as it reveals some parts of the island you would have never seen otherwise. And the whole Rainbow team was super professional and kind, with special thanks to Jojo, who is a wonderful pilot, passionate about the Island, its history and its land.
Breathtaking views up above ocean and Big Island. Best helicopter ride so far with pilot up front best view! We were 3,000 ft most of the time but went up to mountain in the clouds at 10,000 ft. It was a little chilly then.
Jeff was a great pilot and very knowledgeable. Felt safe the entire time! It was beautiful from the air!
Things couldn't have been easier. The place was easy to find, the staff was super friendly, the pilot was very knowledgeable and also super friendly, and the helicopter ride itself was amazing. Couldn't be happier with how things went.
The helicopter ride (doors off) was fun enough. This tour was more of a coast tour. You don’t actually get to see the volcano ( well not the big ones) so that was disappointing. I’ll take the blame for that though for not reading it more carefully. It said volcano tour but not Mauna Loa. Or Mauna Kea The issue we had was their disorganization. Our tour originally was for 8 a.m. The evening before they called to move it to 9. That’s fine. The next morning they called while we were on our way to reschedule again to an 11 departure. We showed up at 10:30 per their instructions and didn’t actually leave until about noon. They make you wear these goofy goggles. If we’d have known all of this, we would’ve definitely canceled. We took a helicopter in Kauai and it was so much better.
Absolutely incredible experience, we loved every second of it! Beautiful! And the staff and pilot were very friendly, professional, and kind!
Beautiful views. Excellent pilot. Would highly recommend this experience. See the island from untouchable views.
The staff was super friendly, shout out to Wilson, thank you for your kindness to my 78 yr old Aunt. Whom by the way loved the tour with the doors off! Everything was amazing!
Great flight around the coast of the island. Our captain was a very nice young man. you could tell he not only cared about our safety and comfort, but our experience! It was wonderful seeing the volcanos from the air. We would have loved to been able to see the active volcano, but it was not included in this trip for some reason. Either way, we had a great time and the staff treated us right.
It was truly amazing! Seeing the coastline from above with all the color variations was beautiful! We saw at least 10 whales and their calves I was in awe! The pilot was great at helping us learn how to look for the whales. The pilot pointed out points of interest, and answered all of our questions! He was so knowledgeable and informative, a pleasure to listen to. Our minds were blown by the incredible experience! Knowing what I know now, I may have left the doors on lol! We enjoyed our selves so very much!
It was very smooth and the views were breathtaking. Great knowledgeable pilot. Would recommend. Do it!
The manager Kalei is nothing short of an Angel. She is truly amazing and worked with everything we asked for. The pilot, Donovan is as well legendary. An amazing and skilled pilot, as well very knowledgeable and personable. You are going to enjoy every minute of your flight with him. We will be back within some time, and will be looking forward to seeing both Donovan and Kalei again. -Brandon & Isira
TY to our pilot Turner, for an amazing flight. He provided historical info, and gave great insight on the local area. We immediately took his suggestion for a snorkeling site and it did not disappoint!
Donavon was an excellent pilot and tour guide! We enjoyed our doors off helicopter adventure very much. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and it was a wonderful experience 💕. This is an overall awesome Hawaii experience!!!
