The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and the gift shop person was also very friendly and helpful and nice. The sanctuary itself was amazing and I would like to come back sometime and try some of the other Services.

Lovely morning in the forest. Mac is knowledgeable, personable and kind to all. His passion for the forest is contagious.
Originally, we had booked the cloud forest, sea turtle and coffee tour but we're notified there were not enough bookings for that day. We opted for something smaller and found this option and it was perfect! They offered walking sticks and paced the tour very well so even someone like me with energy limiting chronic illness had ease keeping up! It was a blast and Kalani and Mac were excellent tour guides.
The Kona cloud Forest Sanctuary is a peaceful, misty, and beautifully curated nature experience. It is a rare chance to step into one of Hawaii’s most fragile ecosystems. We learned so much from our wonderful guides, Max and.Kalani
Amazing guide and great information about plants and ecosystem. It was great to learn about how big role is for cloud forest for all the ecosystem on the island.
This was a unique and fun experience - the guides were so enthusiastic and easy and looked after us so well. their knowledge was amazing and i learned things i didn't know - crowd size was perfect and it was a beautiful day. time spent was exactly what we wanted - and price was fine because it is for a great cause.
My mom and I did the Pantropical Trail tour, and it was a lovely, peaceful change of pace from the beaches and volcanoes. We saw a huge variety of trees and plants, including bamboo groves and Rudraksha trees from India, which was a special surprise for us. Native plants like ʻōhiʻa and tree ferns grow right alongside them. The tour is slow-paced and very well suited to older visitors. They hand out bamboo walking sticks, the group walks at a gentle pace, and there are frequent stops to rest and learn about the plants. If you're traveling with parents or grandparents, this is a great choice.
We did the early morning birding tour and had a wonderful experience. Drew is so knowledgeable about birds that live in the forest as well as their habitat and conservation efforts. We saw six species of birds and heard many, many more. Go and support this unique sanctuary and don't forget to grab some yummy banana bread on your way out. You will not be disappointed! Thank you, Drew!
Although the walk was short for me, being an avid hiker it is perfect for those who want to experience the Hawaiian forest without hiking for miles. Our guide was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the entire area and if any of us had a question he took the time to stop and answer in good detail. The area was so beautiful and loaded with lush greenery. There were bright colorful flowers of yellow and red. And among all that my favorite was the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree with it's colorful bark. I recommend this hike/walk to explore.
Our guide was knowledgeable, warm and engaging. Our group included two families with small children that I initially thought would be a problem and I was pleasantly surprised, due to the guide’s hands on approach, the children’s presence enhanced my experience! I look forward to returning for birding, crystal bowls, forest bathing and the longer tour.
Katana was a very good guide. She gave us stories about certain trees and was knowledgeable when questions were asked. Gave us time to absorb the unique atmosphere of the cloud forest. Thanks Kalani
Daphne was a kind and patient guide, and very knowledgeable. We learned a great deal in a relaxed and beautiful setting.
Our guide was super knowledgeable and very patient and accommodating to everyone’s needs. We had a great tour, it was the perfect amount of time to really see the forest in all it’s glory! It was a bit pricy but worth it to keep this beautiful place cared for.
Daphne was a delight and was so passionate about her job. We learned SO much and the hike was so peaceful. The cloud fog rolled in right on cue. Loved this!!
Excellent experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and patient. We learned a lot about the cloud forest and its inhabitants. It was a fun hike with many stops to view birds and the beautiful plants growing in this habitat. Well worth it.
It was a wonderful experience. Daphne was a great tour host. She is very passionate about the work that is done at the forest cloud.
Add this to your list while on the Big Island! One of a kind tour you won’t soon forget!
Dean was very informative. Sadly it rained which does not happen often so we didn't see any birds but it was still very interesting! Worth every penny.
I added this to our group trip and so glad I did! What an amazing place. I had people in my group with varying capabilities and I didn't feel the hike was too long or too difficult. A couple of people said there were a few spots that was a bit scary for them, but they made it! Our guide was Heather and she was great! You could hear and feel her passion for this place.
It was a little pricey, but very educational and you see a lot of things you aren't likely to see somewhere else. Make sure to review their website for recommendations on clothing and preparation.
This was a great experience learning about the cloud forest, how it began and experiencing it firsthand. Sierra was very knowledgeable and informative during the entire tour. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to learn about cloud forests and the efforts evolved and give us the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate what the forest has to offer.
Wonderfully scenic and peaceful walk; excellent guide and plenty of stops for more information or enjoyment — did not feel rushed at all
Very friendly and helpful, tour was nice slow paced not rushed like some I've been on, was nice overall experience.
We had an amazing time with this tour. Our guide was very passionate about her job. She loves her job, you can tell. Very knowledgeable about the forest. This was one of the best experiences on the island. It’s like you stepped into another place in time. The hike isn’t bad. They give you a walking stick. You stop often to discuss the trees, plants and get the history. They give you bug spray, too. It’s educational and great for the family. I’d definitely recommend this tour! Youll enjoy it as much as my family/friend has. Come check it out!
Beautiful cloud forest! Drew was a knowledgeable and fun guide who also is the grandson of the gentleman who secured the 30 acres. Family stories were great! Highly recommend this 1.5 hour tour.
We had the best time on the 1.5 hour hike! It was myself, my husband and our 3 teenage daughters and we all loved it. Heather Rose was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a little cool, so be prepared if you are wearing shorts and tank tops that you might want another layer. And don't miss the tea and banana bread at the end. Yummy!
Sierra was awesome. Niece of the founder so that was a cool touch. Walk was not difficult. She tailored the info to meet the interest of the group. Also kept the kids involved
Our 2nd time on this tour and loved it again. My wife, sons, and in laws all thoroughly enjoyed the tour led by Heather Rose. She is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and highly recommended.
I loved every minute of the pantropical Tour at Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary. The forest is breathtaking towering trees, vibrant plants, and a calm atmosphere that makes you slow down and appreciate nature. Our guide Heather Rose's expertise brought everything to life, from the unique species to the delicate ecosystem that thrives there. It’s rare to find a place that feels both educational and magical, but this sanctuary delivers exactly that.
This was my highlight of my trip! Amazing guide...amazing environment...loved every minute!
This was an incredible experience for myself and two teenage sons. The place is beautiful and the guide Heather did a fantastic job of showing us the plants and trees as the clouds rolled into the mountain. Beautiful place for pictures during the hike. Would definitely do this again!
Such an amazing experience and one I won’t forget! The guide, Heather, was fantastic and was very knowledgeable as just being super sweet and kind. When we called the tour was full but she let us join anyway which was such a blessing! The forest was amazing and I even got to hug a eucalyptus tree! Highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting The Big Island!
Such an amazing experience. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. The forest is beautiful and full of wonder.
Botanical tours, an open air "temple" for yoga and sound baths, and more activities and events... feels remote and timeless, but is less than 20 minutes from the airport... a wonderful entrance to the Hawaiian experience...
I had alot of fun. The workers was wonderful. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone.great
The Kona Cloud Forest was an amazing experience. It is a fairly simple hike. my husband and I did it with our 8year old sun. the hike is beautiful and educational. Our guide Heather Rose is very kind, knowledgeable and patient with all my son’s questions. The tour is a bit pricey but it is worth it! We took an UBER from the hotel by the beach and it only took 15 minutes, easy and beautiful drive if you have a car rental
We highly recommend this hike. It’s absolutely beautiful, amazing and informative! Our guide was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. The hike was very easy. I honestly recommend booking the 2.5 hour hike if you have time so that the experience can last even longer! Absolutely worth the cost of admission.
Visiting the cloud forest is truly one of my favorite experiences in Kona. First our tour guide was amazing. She talked about the forest with such passion, you can tell she loves what she does. The tour open our eyes to the commitment of the community to return the cloud forest to its natural habitat, and the importance of ecological balance. Great experience for kids and young adults, they can touch everything and learn too.
What an amazing experience of a unique habitat! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the cloud forest. Heather Rose was an excellent guide. She was interactive and passionate about teaching visitors all she knows. We saw many beautiful plants, trees, flowers, and fungi that we'd never encountered before. There is also a gift shop with cute merch and tea samples at the end. We 100% recommend this tour even if you're not usually a fan of outdoor activity (like me).
We had a wonderful experience. Heather Rose was very knowledgeable. Our tour was very relaxing.
I visited the cloud forest today and honestly thought it was an amazing place. We did the afternoon guided tour, and the lady leading it was super chill and really connected to the earth and the plants. We learned so many new things during the tour, and she made everything interesting, pleasant, and funny at the same time. She was a great tour guide. Overall, it was a really nice place to visit and I would definitely recommend it.
We loved the tour and Heather was an AMAZING guide! We highly recommend this tour :-)
Special sacred place…full of good energy and trees that nurture your body and raise your spirits!
Sierra and Taryn are the best!! Did the 1.5 hour walk and then the sound bath on Monday 4/27. Admission was a little steep but worth the experiences and is a good cause. Thanks for a great time!! Amanda from San Mateo CA
It's a truly beautiful area, and an especially nice change of scenery and temperature if you're staying in Kona. The people who work here are passionate about what they do (I apologise for forgetting the names of the two people I met, but both were lovely), and even if you don't have quite as spiritual an approach towards nature as them, it's a great chance to decompress from the rest of the world, and just be.
What a great experience! Our guide, Taren, was very knowledgeable and a kind hearted young lady who obviously cares for this island’s wellbeing. It was a good way to get to know about the eco system here and how they are working to re-forest and protect it at this sanctuary. We highly recommend this jungle adventure.
Incredible Sanctuary with knowledgeable and kind hearted guide! Such an amazing tour through the trees, getting to breathe deeply and soak up the palpable energy of the could forest. Sweet little gift shop with delicious banana bread and rad souvenirs!
Drew was a fantastic birding guide. Learned a lot about local birds, the forest and his grandfather's efforts to restore it. Worth the time and price.
Great place to learn about cloud forests, lava and Hawaiian ecosystems!
There were 10 in our group and everyone loved it on a lot of levels. It was wonderful just to experience the cloud forest and the guide was both professional and friendly and her information enhanced the walk greatly. It was a whole other level of experiencing nature on big island and made for a memorable experience for all.
