We offer a variety of styles of fishing. Expect the opportunity to set the lines for trolling for big game, but we also use real and artificial bait for drifting and bottom fishing if the current is favorable. Out team wants you to have the experience of holding the tackle and fishing along with the great views that come from fishing in the deep blue waters of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
We were warned fishing had been slow the week leading up to the charter but the guys were still able to get us a 7 foot blue marlin. If you want to catch a big fish while on island these guys are who to go to.
Dean and claydo were fantastic guides. They were very good at their job and very experienced. They wanted to catch fish just as bad as we did. They were a great time they created a great atmosphere on the boat and when a line went down it was game time! Very good at what they do and it was a blast to be on the boat even when we weren’t hooked up. My girlfriend and I both caught blue marlins and the biggest fish of our lives! I highly recommend booking with these guys if you’re looking to troll for blue marlins in the blue marlin capital of the world! Claydo was also very helpful and gave me a bunch of tips and info for shore fishing locally on the island! These guys were amazing! Aloha!
Super exciting experience with the crew! Dean and Logan were both super knowledgeable and easy to converse with. The trip was slow until the last 30 mins where we caught a good sized wahoo and 250LB Marlin back to back. Made it all worth it and then some!
Experience was great. Just Captain and first mate along with my family. They were knowledge and took the time to make sure we and our child knew what to do when we caught a fish. The day was beautiful. Crew was polite and easy to talk with. Unfortunately we didn't catch any fish but they damn well tried. Covered alot of ground, just nothing was bitting. Would absolutely go again with this folks.
We booked a 6-hour trip with Reel Escapes Hawaii on the 40’ Cabo A‘u Nui, and even though we didn’t catch anything, it was still a great day on the water. Captain Dan and Deckhand “Rooster” were both top-notch, friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. The boat was super comfortable, clean bathrooms, plenty of space to relax between runs. It’s clear they put a lot of care into the whole experience, and you can tell they know the waters well. Sometimes the fish just don’t bite, that’s part of fishing, but they gave it their all and kept the energy up the entire trip. Would absolutely book with them again. Good people, great boat, and an overall solid experience out of Kona.

Never been out fishing on the ocean before. Captain Will and first mate Rooster were great. Caught 4 Marlins in a 6 hour trip. They were both very helpful and took the time to make sure we had a trip to remember.
We did a private 6 hour fishing trip and had a great time! Brent and Jason were fun to chat with and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. We learned a ton and will definitely book them again in the future.
My family and I had an unreal experience with Brent and his Captain of the day William. They are an amazing crew filled with tons of knowledge about the island. Will definitely be back with Reel Escapes Hawaii when we come back to Big Island. If you are indecisive about which charter to choose, these guys are the “reel” deal for sure!
This was fun, but they fish for the “big fish”, and they will try hard to find them. However, like any “fishing”, if they aren’t there or don’t bite, you will not catch them. In 6 hours, we hooked two short billed spearfish (69” long) and had a small female marlin checked out the lure, but she was too unsure and swam away. We saw a pod of pilot whales and a tiger shark named “Lavern”. We kept a small portion of our catch and were able to find a place to cook it for us. THAT was delicious! Bring sunblock and layered clothing, the weather can be unpredictable. If you get seasick, Bonine works well. They will provide small snacks and water, but if you want something else, you can bring it. There is a Texaco gas station with snack and hot foods, west of where you turn in to the marina. Have fun!!! The water is deeeeepppp!!!! And you don’t have to go too far off shore to find that out.
The crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. The six hours passed quickly with conversation and views of the island coastline. We had three fish on the line and brought a very nice blue marlin up to the boat. The boat and tackle are top notch, I highly recommend this trip for a fun fishing adventure.
Fantastic experience! You do need some patience. We had 3 teens/young adult with us and patience is not exactly their forte. It took a bit to get the first catch but then there was lots of activity. The captain did take some additional time since we got a later catch (not sure what exactly is the norm). Would 10/10 recommend!
Trip was great been on 5 different charters and this was by far by best luck catching fish! We catch a large Mahi and a rare Spear fish!
Went out fishing with my dad and It was one of the best most memorable days ever . we caught a striped marlin. It was about 6 feet and around 80 to 100 pounds! We had captain Dan and he filleted the fish for us to take home. The charter provided a memorable and enjoyable day on the water. 10/10 recommend
My first deep sea fishing experience and it was awesome! My wife and I booked this trip as part of our anniversary celebration. So we contacted Captain Brent to book a 6 hour fishing trip and we are so happy we did . The boat was very nice and clean and stocked with bottle water and snacks for the trip. Captain Brent and his crew really made this trip an unforgettable celebration. They are very experienced at what they do and took care of all the details while we enjoyed the boat ride and seeing how everything works. After a couple hours we hooked a pair of spearfish and let me tell you, this was the moment we were waiting for, full of adrenaline pumping and excitement! a lifetime moment we will never forget. We really enjoyed this trip and I highly recommend Reel Escapes Hawaii for your fishing adventures. Great for groups or as a couples trip you will have a great time with Captain Brent and his crew, they will work hard to give you a great experience. Excellent day on the water with Captain Brent and deckhand Matt. All gear provided. Great boat. The crew was knowledgeable and very accommodating. Caught three beautiful Mahi Mahi and one was a bull over 50 pounds. I will definitely be fishing with Reel Escapes on my next trip to Kona. Would highly recommend to anyone.
I grew up salmon and trout fishing in the east and have always wanted to deep sea fish. Well I booked a trip with Reel Escapes Hawaii during a recent trip hoping to land a big one. Well, the trip did not disappoint. I caught an Ono which put up a great fight with several jumps. What an awesome experience. I was also amazed with the knowledge of our captain. I did not expect to learn so much about fishing lanes in Hawaii or about Hawaiian culture and history. I highly recommend this trip with Reel Escapes.
My family and I went on a trip and had the most amazing time! The crew worked hard all day setting lures and checking lines. You could tell how important it was for them to see us catch. They were also very knowledgeable & friendly! You don’t always see that with some charters. They’re super passionate about what they do and it was such a pleasure for each and every one of us! My first time ever deep sea fishing and we hooked an Ono! The excitement my family had when the line went off was shared by the crew as well!
