Clear instructions and professional crew. The tour was a small group that takes you to captain cook early before other tours come. It was nice because you had time to see many fish before they hid when others came. They give a lot of information about the history and give a tour along the coast afterwards. Snacks were given afterwards. I wish we booked our manta ray tour with them, next time we will for sure.

This was by far, one of my favorite excursions on the Big Island. Natalie was an excellent captain, answering questions, giving an informative and interesting history lesson, and setting clear expectations. Oliver was a wonderful assistant. He helped me with my mask and answered questions. When dolphins were sighted, Natalie slowed the vessel so the dolphins could play along side our bow. It was wonderful to see the spinner dolphins in their natural environment. I book this excursion again. Highly recommended!!!
This was by far the best tour we have ever taken. Captain Kai and Anna were knowledgeable, safety conscious and funny as hell. his boat was described as a "modified Zodiac". I was not expecting much but I was wrong. The sides resembled a Zodiac but the boat was bigger with a still walkway all around, covered seating in the middle and dry storage space enough for everyone. The ladders alone are worth whatever cost difference with other tour operators. The boat had 2 proper fixed ladders that dropped down into the water. Why is this important? Because the Zodiacs had a rope drop in ladder that swayed and made it difficult to climb back into the boat. When we pulled out there was a man struggling to pull himself up into one of the Zodiacs and it was tough to watch. The after snorkel snacks were great too!
If snorkeling with 6 other tourist boats disgorging at least a hundred other people, many using water-weenees, vests and inner tubes to float around a just ok reef is your idea of fun then for sure go ... I also got run over by a kayak! ...also loads of people slathered in white sunblock all draped all over the Capt Cook monument, girls lying on it sunbathing...no respect at all for the man or his memory...it all just made me very sad ... the boat and tour guides were good and I am glad I got to see where Capt Cook anchored and eventually died but I really wish I never went ... I should have known better
My partner and I, took my best friends. What an incredible experience from beginning to end! The crew at Sea Quest Hawaii truly made this adventure something we will remember for a long time. The fun started before we even reached the snorkeling spot. The boat ride was a blast — hitting the waves, laughing, and taking in the absolutely beautiful views of the Kona coastline. Along the way, the crew shared so much history and information about the island and the areas we were passing. They were knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and genuinely seemed to enjoy sharing Hawaiʻi with everyone on board. Once we arrived at Kealakekua Bay, the water was absolutely perfect. The snorkeling was beautiful, and one thing I really appreciated was that we never felt rushed. They gave us plenty of time to explore, enjoy the water, and really take everything in. The entire crew made us feel comfortable and safe while still making the experience FUN! The scenery, crystal-clear water, history, boat ride, and especially the people made this a 10/10 experience. I would absolutely recommend Sea Quest Hawaii to anyone visiting the Big Island. And one last thing — PLEASE TIP YOUR CREW! These guys work incredibly hard. They keep you safe, teach you about the island, help you throughout the trip, and do everything they can to make sure you have an amazing experience. Show them some appreciation and respect their hard work. If they show you an unforgettable time, take care of them too! We will definitely be back! 🌊🤿🌴
Captain Bee and crew were great. On our way out she spotted some spinner dolphins and stopped to give everyone a chance to see them jumping out of the water. The snorkeling was great. As a bonus a manta ray was spotted on our return. Would recommend SeaQuest again.
I had a great experience with Sea Quest! My guide was Paola, and our captain was Mike! They were both amazing and so friendly, and they made sure everyone was safe at all times. The excursion itself was from 9 am to 12 pm, and the raft we were on had a roof, which was very helpful with the sun. Our raft had about 20 people on it, and it was still very spacious.
My husband, my 6-year old son and I went on the Captain Cook snorkeling tour with Mike from Sea Quest, and had a great time. There was one other family of 3, so it was a small group on the boat. Mike was very patient and kind, and the snorkeling was great. There was fruit and chips provided.
Very knowledgeable guide and support staff. She shared a lot of history about the sites we were seeing. The Hawaiian snacks, fruit, and fruit soda were a great touch.
Excellent tour of Captain Cook for our family. Guides were great, knowledgeable, thorough and would definitely repeat tour again.
Amazing time, Brenna and Brooke were funny, knowledgeable and very attentive when I had a run in with a man o war. I would highly recommend.
Captain B and Tay were awesome! The speed boat ride was a lot of fun, especially for my kids! The snorkeling was incredible - so many cool fish, especially closer to the shore. We had the best time and would definitely recommend Sea Quest! Also, aloha to B’s mom! She told us you read all the Trip Advisor reviews lol - she was so fun!
We had a beautiful morning excursion to Captain Cook. Sea Quest team was also super friendly, they helped and provided snorkelling tips to my 11 yr old. They also arranged for a fruit plate and snacks. I had a bit of trouble parking at the marked unpaved lot, but not a major issue. Highly Recommend!
Great time with captain B and Grace. Very knowledgeable with cool tips and history about the island and ocean. The passion and excitement they have made the trip awesome.
Great experience our Captain Bee and Tay were amazing and so much fun!!! We did see dolphins a couple of times! Beautiful location lots of fish... a great day ❤️❤️
The captain cook adventure was amazing. Beautiful snorkeling, captain cook bay was fabulous and we had it to ourselves with our small group. The dolphins gave us quite a show. While all of that was amazing it was really the staff that made it the best experience. Bea and Tia made the experience. They are fun, friendly, knowledgeable and awesome captains. I highly recommend sea quest. We also did the manta ray experience. While the wild animals didn’t listen (haha) and make much of an experience the staff for that was also amazing. Libby, Rick and Emma were amazing and knowledgeable and made the experience worth it. We will definitely be returning to sea quest when we come back to big island.
All around a great experience with lots of hospitality. Good length of time to snorkel, about an hour, and the boat ride was pleasant. Very scenic area too, with lots of interesting fish.
Great experience, and I would highly recommend the three hour tour with Seaquest. The RIB boat was awesome, and the crew was fantastic. It was my family’s first time and we will be booking with them again when we return to the island.
This was a great experience one of the highlights of our trip. Captain Kevin was friendly and helpful. The smaller boat means less people to deal with. They timed the departure so we arrived at the bay before the larger boats showed up, about the first 30 minutes of our hour was just us and a family that had hiked in. When we got back on the boat Kevin had fresh fruit, other snacks and drinks ready for us. On the way back to the harbor Kevin was able to find a pod of dolphins that chased the boat and played in our wake. The kids loved watching them swim with us.
Terrific fun! The guides we had were very knowledgeable and experienced. The bay in which we snorkeled was pristine, beautiful, and teeming with all sorts of marine life, including dolphins! It’s a fun experience and well worth the price.
Best snorkeling experience! Great staff all around, gorgeous waters, fun time! You get commentary, snacks, drinks, adventure, recommendations and a beautiful day on the ocean and in the bay! Calm waters, easy for any level of experience. Huge recommendation and can't wait to do it again!
Amazing tour to go snorkeling with! I loved the way the guides were telling history and we got to se geologic sites!
Everything was as advertised. But better than advertised. A delight. I’m 86 and they provided me with all the floaters and devices I didn’t Even know I needed. Snorkeling became easy.
We took the Captain Cook snorkel trip to Kealakekua bay, and it was WONDERFUL!! The smaller group was perfect👌 absolutely ideal. The captains (Nat and Grace) were so friendly, accommodating, fun, and insightful, with lots of history and local facts throughout the trip. The boat itself was awesome, the water was incredible, and the snorkeling was absolutely phenomenal! Plus the snack assortment was a great variety of local Hawaiian goodies along with some common favs. I cannot recommend this outing enough!! We would have stayed the whole day and gone again and again if we could!! Ten out of five stars from us 🤩
The crew was great and the tour was well run. We loved the smaller group size. The Bay had other tours at the same time, but it still was not too crowded. The snorkeling was great and the variety of fish and coral was amazing. The fruit snacks and juice afterwards were perfect. Highly recommend Sea Quest Hawaii for this tour!
Captain Cook snorkel. Nice sail boat!! Excellent captain. I love how we got to sail as well as use the motor when needed. The crew worked hard and were willing and efficient, friendly. Good food, awesome drinks( alcohol is extra and expensive), nice music, cheerful but not too party party. Snorkeling was beautiful and safe with good instructions. Historical information about the native people who originally inhabited the land was good . The only thing is I would've liked to hear more about Captain Cook and the Monument and who he was, even if it was not all positive because that's part of the history. His story wasn't respected. There was definitely a bit of attitude by our guide about Captain Cook which was off-putting. Maybe just an island thing? I was a bit surprised actually
We did a private and while expensive it was great to have the boat to ourselves for a party of 6. I thought once we arrived at the site there would be a ton of other boats but there was not thankfully! Kevin and Chloe were the best hosts! The fruit plate was much appreciated! The highlight besides the snorkeling was the owl in the volcano tube they pointed out!
Excellent experience! Our captain’s were very informative and did a great job. The reefs were teaming with fish! Saw an octopus and eels as well!
Our Captain was B and the first mate was Chloe. They were fabulous. I highly recommend this trip! We even got to see a hammerhead shark on our trip to the bay.
Such a great day—easily a highlight of our trip. The all-female crew was amazing: kind, knowledgeable, funny. Captain B was so cute and enthusiastic about the animals and Hawai’i culture, and you could feel how much she genuinely loves what she does. It made the whole experience even more special. We got lucky with spinner dolphins and humpback whales on the way out (!!!), and the snorkeling at Cook’s Island was full of fish and beautiful views. Smooth ride, great vibes, and an all-around fantastic experience. Highly recommend!
As locals we thought we'd have fun, but ended up being blown away at the level of service, comfort and overall experience Sea Quest provided. Dolphins, fish, turtles, eels and lots of fun!!! We had a morning private snorkel charter with some friends visiting from out of town. Our boat captain Natalie and deck wahine Ally were loads of fun, very attentive to our needs and full of wonderful information about the coastline and ocean life. They even took the time to double back and pick a chunk of a fishing net that was floating in the ocean to uphold the integrity of the marine life. I also really appreciated the level of detail the company owners thought through to provide a remarkable experience for their patrons. We were treated to local pastries, fruit juices and snacks when we got back to the boat from snorkeling which were quickly gobbled by both the little kids and big ones on the boat. The boats are fast, well maintained, safe and shaded!
Had the most wonderful time with Captain Natalie and skipper Grace. They were so friendly, professional and informative! Great vibe that put everyone at easy! We saw humpback whales on our way to the Bay. The zodiac is big and steady, so I didn’t feel any nausea. The Bay is so beautiful and an hour snorkelling was just enough. Such a dream swimming with all the sea life along the reef. Had a show from spinner dolphins who came right up to the boat!! Great snacks and drinks after the swim. On the way back we stopped at two lava caves. Nat shared more about the history of the area. fascinating!! 10 outta 10 would recommend!
Crew was great! Captain Natalie was knowledgeable and funny and the snorkeling was amazing. Saw spinner dolphins doing flips and spins and a baby humpback whale. And a family of goats scaling the lava tube. Really great experience.
Great staff, knowledgeable, good for novice snorkelers, fun trip! Saw humpback whales, bottle nose and spinner dolphins along the way.
Such a good experience, I went twice! Once with Captain Brenna & once with Captain Natalie. Both were great experiences.
Hands down worth every penny. 3 hour experience includes 1 hour of snorkeling, light snack and drink, shoreline water tour of lava caves! You get to see the monument from the water. When you enter by boat you can’t go on land. Learned to snorkel with ease and comfort and spent an hour in the water with all the beautiful fish and coral! Beautiful day! Amazing captain and first mate! Lucky enough to experience an orca and her baby close up! Boat ride is fast and fun in a Kodiak! Don’t recommend if you have a bad back or neck but if you love speed and water, so, fun! Would absolutely do it again!
We had an amazing outing with Kevin , our captain. There were only 6 of us making it a more personal experience. Before we got to our snorkeling spot we were so lucky to see whales (mom & baby) breaching and frolicking in the waters around us. Kevin continually maneuvered the boat for the best viewing while being non-intrusive. The snorkeling was awesome with lots of fish and coral easily seen. The tour finished with views of lava tubes and beautiful rock formations. Fresh fruit, drinks and snacks were provided. Don’t book a tour with anyone else but SeaQuest!!!
Great experience for the beginner and intermediate snorkelers! Great guides, great to be on a boat on the coast. Saw dolphins, turtles, humpback whale and tons of fish. Worth the cost for happy family and many thank yous for the family planner.
One of the best snorkeling experience I ever had. We had very knowledgeable and passionate Captain! Tavern was great too. We were lucky to see a lot of different animals .
The Captain of this ship made the trip very memorable and fun. Natalie is fantastic at her job, and as professional as they come. Really appreciated the historical commentary.
We had a really wonderful time on this tour. Sam, our Captain and Eli, her crew, were terrific. Sam was especially great for sharing her knowledge of the area. The snorkeling was also wonderful and even though we had a full boat, they made it easy and comfortable. It was a great day.
We had an amazing time snorkeling with a small group (no more than 14), traveling on a shaded boat to the Captain Cook monument. B and MJ were thoughtful of all of our needs, guided us to the best spot to snorkel - breathtaking sea life and coral! - and then showed us lava and sea caves along the coast. We highly recommend Sea Quest!
Absolutely amazing experience! 🌊 We loved our first snorkel tour so much that we booked a second one right away. We did the 3-hour afternoon tour with Captain B and Taylor, and then two days later the 4.5-hour morning tour with Taylor and Captain MJ. Both were incredible! The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting stories about the island. After snorkeling we were treated to fresh fruit, and on the longer tour even a delicious lunch. Everything was perfectly organized and so much fun. I’ll definitely recommend Sea Quest and can’t wait to go again. Mahalo! 🌺🐠✨
This was a fantastic excursion! It was awesome to have an all female crew (Bea and Taylor rocked it).. the boat ride to the bay was fast and fun. The group was fairly small at 13.. I appreciated the boat had a shade cover. The snorkeling was awesome… tons of beautiful fish.. I took the afternoon tour and there were only two other tour boats in the bay. I enjoyed learning about the history of captain cook and his encounters with the native Hawaiians. On the way back we stopped to check out some lava tubes and the goddess pele natural lava rock formation.. definitely a great tour for the cost. We also got snacks of fresh fruit and chips and juice.. excellent friendly customer service, highly recommend! Don’t forget some cash to tip your crew!
BEST EXPERIENCE! MJ and Teyvan were amazing — so friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. The boat felt so private with only 13 people on board, and they really took care of us with apples, pineapple, chips, and refreshing guava drinks. We loved the history they shared about Captain Cook, and hands down this was the best boat ride we’ve ever been on. To top it off, we even saw bottlenose dolphins! Highly recommend Sea Quest Hawai‘i — truly unforgettable!
Our family of 4 had a great experience doing the Captain Cool snorkel tour. The directions for parking and finding the meeting spot were perfect. Our guides were wonderful and the snorkeling was very good. We spotted a few pods of dolphins along the way there and back. We also really enjoyed the snacks and drinks. I purchased a Groupon for this particular excursion and it was definitely a great value!! This was a smaller boat so there were only about a dozen of us and we appreciated the more personalized intimate experience this offered. Highly recommend using this company for any of their trips.
We had the best time with Sea Quest Hawaii!! Captain Natalie was amazing. Such a fun experience for the whole family. Looking forward to doing another tour with them in the future. 10/10!!
Our private charter boat tour snorkel experience with Captain Sam and First Mate Teyvin was the unexpected #1 favorite activity of our family trip!! I would 100% advise to get your own boat, our crew was so accommodating to provide exactly the experience we desired. The views, the water, the snorkeling and the caves were incredible! As a bonus Captain Sam provided history and knowledgeable commentary. As picky eaters, our family of 15 were all happy with the food: fresh fruit, chips, yummy sandwiches, drinks and chocolate! We could not have been happier with Sea Quest. Professional, fun, safe.
This was such a fun experience! We got to snorkel over a protected reef with beautiful fish and sea urchins for a little over an hour. On the boat ride back, we got snacks and stopped by several points of interest where the guides explained the history of lava tubes, parrots in Hawaii, sea caves, and more.
Captain Natalie and crew were amazing. We got a beautiful tour around the bay. Got to see lots of lava tubes and caves. In addition to the snorkeling spot was amazing. This is my second time with this company and I’ll definitely be back.
