Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook Monument) Snorkel And Sail Adventure

This was a great snorkeling experience. Captain Jacques gave us a nice smooth morning ride down to the Captain Cook Monument, while the crew offered up some continental breakfast items. But what really impressed me is the things the crew did to make sure we had a good experience in the water. First, as we got close to the monument, crew members made sure each person had properly fitting fins and mask. Then once we arrived, Jacques told us what to expect in the water, and how we would know it was time to leave. Getting in the water was really easy, even for senior citizens like me and my wife, because of the stairs that go right into the water. And then once we were all in, crew members were also in the water, looking out for anyone who seemed to be having even minor issues, and then helping them out. The reefs themselves were really interesting; I got so absorbed in the show that I didn't hear the "time to return" call, and my wife had to retrieve me! The box lunch on the way back was really good; it's amazing how hungry you can get after spending an hour or so in the water! We highly recommend this tour!

This was a well organized snorkeling trip. The ride out to the site is about an hour. The crew is nice and seemed well versed in safety. My daughter loved the snorkeling and wished for more time. Unfortunately, I got sick when they stopped to tell a story about some of the Hawaiian history. I didn’t sense that me being sick should maybe speed up their story. Oh well. Was so sick that I can’t comment on food. If you don’t mind a long ride to snorkel then this is good.

Great trip with Jacques & crew. Safety and snorkeling information was good. Lunch was good. Liked the smaller boat with fewer people. Mother Nature blessed us with a sunny day.

The entire trip from beginning to end was amazing. The crew and captain were all very kind and knowledgeable of the area. They were kind enough to get us close to the reef safely so we didn’t have to swim out into the giant 250 foot dropoff (which scares me,) they had good food, plenty of drinks and coffee, and it was just a super fun and beautiful trip all around! Beautiful place that is difficult to access without a boat. Could have snorkeled there a lot longer; the time flew by. The boat ride was fun too! Water conditions vary with storms and surges. There was a surf surge when we went, and the water was not quite as clear as usual, and we still had decent visibility and saw lots of wildlife.

We had a wonderful time on the snorkeling tour. The crew was amazing! Very friendly, and did a great job making sure it was a fun time. The reef was beautiful! The only somewhat negative was how crowded the cove was, but the crew can't control that.

From the moment we stepped aboard, Captain Dan and his crew were incredibly hospitable and welcoming. Their friendly attitude and local knowledge made the entire trip feel relaxed and enjoyable. The morning cruise to Kealakekua Bay was the highlight of our day. The coastline views were beautiful, and the bay itself was stunning with clear water and vibrant marine life. It is truly one of the most special spots on the island. The sandwiches we ordered were very good and a great addition after spending time in the water. Everything felt thoughtful and well put together. I highly recommend the morning cruise to Kealakekua Bay for anyone visiting Kona. It is a great option for families, friends, or group outings. Next on my bucket list is the night manta dive, which I have heard is just as incredible.

The crew was amazing and the boat was so clean! Everything was perfectly catered and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This was a business trip but felt like a vacation. We played our own music and got to explore the reef at our leisure. Could not have asked for a better experience.

2nd time on the Kona Style. Smaller group. KonaThis boat glides through the sea so smoothly! Sunny with light breeze. Excellent sandwiches. Fantastic details in historical stories. First time to see Pele! Best snorkeling on Big Island, although water is clearer in December than April.

The crew was amazing! They treated my family so well! They were always there to lend a hand and to help out with our boys 7 and 4! The snorkeling was awesome! Meals hit the spot! Service and guiding was awesome! They really helped some first time snorkelers have a great time. They have a great crew to passenger ratio. Honestly this is a worthwhile experience, with a relaxed atmosphere, you should not miss it. Oh and they have fresh Kona coffee while you wait for the boat!

Kona Style is a super professional, well run outfit with warm, friendly service and great guides. The boat is extremely comfortable and a super chill way to see the island from the water, experience the sealife (dolphins, whales if you're lucky, and of course the fish and coral at the snorkeling stop). Lunch is yummy, you are treated so kindly on the boat, and one of the guides gets in the water to help with anyone who needs an extra hand getting used to snorkeling. Check in is super easy to find and convenient at the hotel location by the pool, and the Uulani's Shave Ice right next door couldn't taste better than right off the boat. My only comment would be if your highest priority is snorkeling, the time in the water for me felt a little shorter than I would have preferred, but I am an avid snorkeler and had been on a smaller boat tour the day before (that was not at all comfortable or chill) but I felt like I got my snorkeling fix. I liked having two tours to experience the water in different ways, so I would just think through what your priorities are for your tours to make sure you are picking the right one for you. If you want an enjoyable boat ride and snorkeling at one of the best places in Hawaii, you won't be disappointed.

The whole trip was delightful. The staff were fun, respectful, took care of my family and I perfectly through the whole trip....from the introduction and sign in and boarding the boat, to the trip to the snorkeling to the serving lunch and cocktails to the leaving the boat...I highly recommend this experience. It was fun and informative!

This was a great day. The crew was amazing from the start…very attentive to our needs and clear in their instructions. They checked in with us often and made sure we were having a great time. This was my favorite snorkeling experience the whole week we were in Hawaii. We saw a whale and dolphins on the way, and the Captain Cook monument area was just so cool. The staff here are wonderful- they were so genuinely helpful and I felt they were always looking out for my children (and my old mom) - we did this with our family ranging in ages 10-87 and everyone had a blast. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend taking a trip with Kona style! The crew made a point to connect with everyone and continued to check on you thru out the trip. Loved the boat ride out and back. Snorkeling was awesome, could not ask for a better trip.

Staff was great! Water was very clear and warm! As a bonus we saw many whales, including a baby! At the stops along the way back to the harbor the captain provided the history and the legends about the area. I felt very safe while in the water. The boat was very clean and the staff was really helpful and patient!! A great day on the water!

Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Konastyle. Their boat holds a much smaller amount of people allowing them to make it a personable experience. Captain Dan is always very nice and enjoyable. Snorkeling at captain cook is amazing. Each time I go I end up seeing more different fish. And captain Dan is great at spotting the whales, this time we watched a baby orca frolicking in the water with mom.

I have been traveling around the world for the past ten years with my husband and boys. They snorkel and scuba dive, while I usually sit on the boat watching. I tried snorkeling a few times before, but I suffer from panic attacks and never truly enjoyed the experience. Thanks to this incredible team, I snorkeled twice in the ocean in one day. One of those times was without a life jacket, just a noodle, and I got to see manta rays swimming very close to me and even touching me. I stayed in the water for 45 minutes without panicking, which felt like a personal miracle. The staff were exceptionally kind, caring, and professional. I truly felt safe with them at all times. Dorothy gave me a big hug when I came out of the water, that meant so much to me. Everyone was knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely warm, and they shared valuable information throughout the tours. Food was good as well. We did Captain Cook snorkeling in the morning and manta ray snorkeling at sunset, both on the same day. Highly recommended!! An unforgettable experience :)

About an hour along the coast to the snorkel site, about an hour snorkeling, and then back (with a few stops along the way). Knowledgable and friendly crew. Stunningly clear and beautiful water. Colorful array of fish and sea life…. Great excursion!

This was much more than a snorkeling excursion!!! Stand outs were how amazing the entire crew was! They were ALL very engaging with all of us on the boat. Also, they were all very kind, respectful and hospitable making for a wonderful time on the water. Snorkeling was so fun! The light breakfast and lunch all yummy. Highlights were seeing the Grotto and loved how each crew member took time to teach us Hawaiian history on the ride back. Also comforting that two crew members joined us in the water! If you’re on the fence just go Kona Style. You won’t be disappointed!

Love Konastyle for our snorkeling trip. It’s our 3rd booking with this company. Smaller boat that only takes a max of 38 people. So there is a better experience in the water with less people around. The boat mates have more opportunity to serve you better and personalize your trip. Captain Dan is educational and all are very friendly. We will be back in January to book again.

From start to finish, the crew was incredibly friendly and attentive. They made us feel like we were in good hands before the boat even left the dock. The ride out was its own little adventure. We had dolphins escorting us out of the harbor, which felt like something straight out of a nature documentary, and then flying fish skimming the surface as if they were showing off. Once we got into the water, it only got better. Being surrounded by black triggerfish was downright magical, almost like snorkeling inside a living, shifting constellation. The entire experience was relaxed, beautiful, and handled with real care by the crew. Highly recommend. It is the perfect mix of adventure and peaceful ocean magic.

Had such a fun morning snorkeling! The crew was extremely attentive and friendly. The reef was very active and we were able to see all types of fish and sea life.

The crew was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable keeping us safe during our snorkeling trip. They provided all of the necessary equipment, and floatation devices if needed. We learned about the marine life and geology, and the underwater sights was amazing during our 4 hour trip. The provided food and beverages were a bonus. Great adventure!

We did the morning snorkel, and the cruise out to Kealakekua Bay was very scenic, along with great historical explanations by the crew on the way.
