Hilo Shore Excursion: Visit Volcano, Waterfall, Beach With Lunch

We booked this tour as a cruise passenger excursion from Hilo port. The tour and the guides were excellent. We learnt so much about the island and the Hawaiian islands I general. We loved the visits to Rainbow Falls, Volcanoes National Park and walk through the lava tunnel which was amazing! The included lunch options were great and the visit to a black sand beach in the afternoon was great. We even saw a green turtle on the beach. The whole experience was great and would highly recommend this tour to anybody.

I cannot say enough good things about this tour and our great guides Anthony and Desmond. Not only were they a wealth of knowledge they made every person on the tour feel valued and cared for with time and attention. This was worth every penny!

Our tour guides were very knowledgeable of the area and shared lots of information about the Hawaiian culture and history on top of the sites we visited.

Outstanding tour. Anthony and Desmond went out of their way to get us to see the active volcano, the lava tube, the black sand beach and rainbow falls. They even paid for our lunch for our family of 8 at Lava Rock restaurant . Anthony had a iPad and projected photos of everything he spoke to us about on a large screen in front that was easy to see from the back of this van that held twelve. They took photos for us, gave us jars of honey , chocolate macadamia nut snacks and a photo calendar . These guys are GREAT! I left my sweater and they called me and brought it back to the port..if you can request this team definitely do this!! You will not regret it!!

Tour guides were awesome! Very knowledgeable and seemed to care that we had a good time. The only negative feedback I have is that the vents in the back of the van did not seem to work and it was very hot. They did what they could but it seems like that van needs to have its AC serviced.

Start to finish, they thought of everything. So fun and we learned a lot! Missed the eruption by two days, but Mother Nature is on her own schedule.

Outstanding experience, the tour guides are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. You will love it.

This excursion far exceeded my expectations. The guides were so friendly! Provided us history during the travel time. We saw a lot and even had an excellent lunch. You won’t find a better tour of the volcano. They really love where they live and you can tell it I just loved these guys! Maholo💕

A perfectly fun day spent with our guide Anthony and driver/guide Ariel. They put together a fun and informative day. A small group, they took great care of us all with lots of information and FUN!

I would give this tour more stars if I could! Desmond and Anthony were the best guides I’ve had on a tour. They were so kind, generous and knowledgeable. They really care about the culture and we learned so much! The food was also great!!

Desmond and Anthony created a great experience with with three great stops and some great island history. Lunch was very good as well.

Great experience both guys are excellent very informative entered all questions from everybody. Desmond and Anthony are a great people. I would highly recommend that to anybody that does this type of tour on the big island.

Our guides did their very best and we were lucky enough to get to see the volcano erupting! Amazing, I feel the guides were knowledgeable. The only reason I gave it a four was because once everything started closing down due to the eruption they could have just ended the tour.

Best excursion! Rainbow Falls was beautiful, the volcano was erupting at Volcano National Park, and the beach was great too - even saw some turtles. Enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Volcano House. Guides Desmond and Anthony were awesome! Very knowledgeable and considerate hosts. The National Park and highway were being closed, so they figured out alternate roads so that we could still fit in a beach visit before returning us to the cruise ship. We really appreciate being picked up and returned to the port - made it so much easier than taking an uber.

Our guides were so knowledgeable. This was our favorite venture on the island. Well worth the money. So much information along the way. We learned about all the history of The Big Island. Plus Desmond and his partner were so wanting to make this memorable by taking pictures of all of us and taking time to get to know all of us on the tour personally. The lunch was outstanding and many things to choose from, the volcano was awesome! Then we went to black sand beach which was so beautiful. While we were there they brought us a beautiful fruit plate. So well worth it!!! My husband Scott loved the tour as much as I did .

Booked the tour specifically wanting to go to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park- which was amazing, but Rainbow Falls and Black Sand Beach were beautiful!

This was a full day of fun and education. Anthony and Desmond were so easy going with pace and teaching of Hawaiian history and culture. I was a little guarded because I was on my own, but they put everyone at ease with their friendly manner. Each stop on the tour was well planned without being rushed. The lunch stop at a local family owned Cafe was delish and filling .

Our tour guides , Anthony and Desmond were fantastic. Perfect pacing of the trip. Only twelve on a small bus so after the large cruise ship tours this was refreshing. They were both extremely knowledgeable and shared their love of Hawaii and its culture. I have been to the bug island before and this is hands down the best tour I have taken.

Our favorite excursion! Rainbow falls, volcano, lava tubes, black sand Beach with an amazing fresh fruit basket. I talked to folks who booked with a different tour group, supposed to be the same destinations, but they didn't have the fresh fruit or lava tube experience. This was a great deal!

Desmond and Anthony were the absolute best! Full of local history and facts and so very kind. Our day was absolutely the very best!!! Great sites, yummy lunch, and a fabulous snack of fresh fruit. Hugs all around when we were done as we had become friends. This is a not to miss tour!

Best tour we’ve ever taken, anywhere. Best day of our Hawaiian Cruise. Hosts were educational and gave us plenty of time at each stop. We saw many highlights of Hilo and beyond. They provided lunch, Hawaiian candy and fresh fruits. Great day, just like family. Wish Anthony and Desmond the best!

The guides were excellent and the tour was a lot of fun. They paced it perfectly for the group and made sure we were able to get great views of the volcano. They also taught us about the local culture and how they used native plants and environment.

Having had a disappointing experience on Oahu, I was a bit hesitant at first, but this Big Island tour turned out to be one of the most beautiful days of my life. As a solo traveler and non-native English speaker, I immediately felt at ease thanks to the duo of guides. Anthony, with his stories and energy, made every explanation engaging, while Desmond, with his calm, kindness, and photography skills, added a warm and very endearing touch. They remembered every little detail, including my flight later that evening when they kindly dropped me off. Their welcoming demeanor allowed everyone on the tour to connect quickly. I also really appreciated not having to worry about food, the occasional detours, and the personal care they took to ensure we had the best experience. Their strong attachment to the local community and dedication to preserving history and the environment was a major plus for me. Most importantly, the experience never felt like a simple transaction. I truly felt part of a meaningful moment, something often missing in many tours. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour! Desmond and Antony are the best! So knowledgeable and fun! We got to see the volcano erupting and had a wonderful lunch at the volcano village. Black sand beach was awesome too, as was the bowl of fruit they gave us. I loved the history chat and getting to hold some Hawaiin artefacts, brilliant! Thank you so much for a tour to remember!

Wonderful and very informative guides. Anytime traveling history of Hawaii. Went to a 3rd spot and saw lava! Turtles on the black sand beach! Lunch at Lava Rock Cafe! Definitely a tour not to miss!!!

Such a great tour and an exciting day as Kilauea was percolating. Great stop at the lava tube, lookout points and tge black sand beach. Even better was the presentation in the van complete with photos on a screen and tons of island props to pass around.

Desmond and Anthony gave us a tour which we will never forget! The history lessons along with visuals such as pictures and real life artifacts enhanced the tour! We were fortunate to see the volcano smoking with lava seeping out. Lunch was delicious and there were plenty of options. The black sand beach was gorgeous and we even got to see two turtles resting on the beach. The little touches on this tour were never ending and I don’t want to spoil all of the surprises. Book this trip!

Our guides were great. They have the tour down to a science. We had plenty of time at each stop plus they provided lots of knowledge and gave us local fruit for a snack. The views were amazing!

If you are reading this review to help choose a tour, THIS IS IT! Everything about this tour is a 10+10. We used Shaka Braddah Tours during our POA stop in Hilo. They were fantastic! Great communication prior to excursion, timely pick up, great stories and information on our way to our stops, they assisted guests in capturing great photos, lunch was included and it was very delicious. You ordered from the restaurant menu. We returned to the port as expected. Great stops along the way! I absolutely recommend this tour!
