We had the best small group tour of Hilo & beyond. There were 8 in our group, so we moved ahead of the coach bus crowds at every stop and had a great island tour in a new van with Rae. He makes sure everyone has what they need and provides a safe, informative, & fun tour. It was a comfortable day that had many stops, including 2 at the volcano park, light hiking THROUGH a lava tube, a few shopping stops for chocolate & macadamia nuts, and a black sand beach if your group votes to stop there. The coastal drive is also beautiful, Rae is a great guide who’ll make sure you have an excellent tour of his beloved island.
Rae was very kind and funny and made the tour such a fun adventure. Would highly recommend him for another tour and enjoyed all of the stops and sights we saw.

This tour is one that you will not forget. We visited Volcano that was very interesting , and the waterfall was one of the best we have ever seen.
Highly recommend this tour. A great way to spend our day in Hilo seeing waterfalls and Hawaii Volcano National Park including walking through lava tube. Rae was a great guide giving lots of history and information about Hilo. We made stops at candy factory and they had the best chicken macadamia nut salad sandwich for lunch and Hilo shave ice for a sweet treat at the end of our tour.
Rae is FABULOUS! He had messaged us a few times before our excursion to let us know where to meet him and what he was wearing. He took us to both waterfalls in Hilo, the volcano national park area that had a hotel and cabins, the Sulphur area, we went 22 different areas where we had better views of the volcano, and then he took us through a lava tube. We stopped for shave ice and then we went to Black Sand beach. I have been on over thirty cruises, and this is by far one of the best short excursions. I have ever taken in my entire life. Rae is super informative, a very nice man and was helpful in answering everyone's questions. We went to visit one of the King Kamehameha's statue and my pictures did not come out all that great. He had taken a selfie with everybody in our tour group, and he sent me two photos that he had taken on his phone. I highly recommend this tour, and I highly recommend Rea for a tour guide. Rae was a knowledgeable and fun tour guide, who took us to a variety of interesting locations and provided a value-for-money experience; and this was despite the inclement weather from a nearby hurricane and the closure of many state parks.

I had such a great experience! The smaller group made it so much easier to see more places and explore the Big Island efficiently without feeling rushed. Rae was an amazing and incredibly knowledgeable guide who made the entire day fun and interesting. He kept us stocked with drinks and snacks throughout the day and even ended with a fun quiz to see what we remembered from everything we learned. I’d definitely recommend this over a large group tour if you really want to experience and learn about the Big Island!

Amazing Scenery and Exceptional Service from Ray! Our tour with Hawaii Island Insider Tours was an incredible experience, and a huge part of that was our guide, Ray. He was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we had a great day. The tour took us to some absolutely spectacular places, including Rainbow Falls, Akaka Falls, and the volcanoes. The scenery throughout the day was breathtaking — lush tropical landscapes, dramatic waterfalls, and the incredible volcanic terrain that makes the Big Island so unique. Every stop seemed to offer another picture-perfect view. Unfortunately, I needed to leave the group earlier than planned. Ray couldn’t have been more accommodating. He personally made sure I got back to the port safely while my wife stayed with the group and continued the tour. I truly appreciated his kindness and willingness to go the extra mile. My wife had an amazing time during the remainder of the tour and sent me some fantastic pictures of the volcanoes and the lava tube. Seeing those photos made it very clear that she got to experience some truly spectacular sights — and that I definitely missed out! Ray was an amazing tour guide. He had everything taken care of for us. Snacks, beverages, chocolates, and even some surprises. We loved the tour so much we booked another with him the next day. All the best sites were included in the Hilo area, and everything was very personalized to accommodate the tour group. The tour vehicle itself is pristine and designed for smaller groups instead of a larger tour bus. Would highly recommend.

Rae was an excellent host for our 5 hour plus tour of the island. He was prompt, courteous and professional, as well as engaging and accommodating. We rode in an almost-new van, which was very comfortable, and Rae offered us drinks and snacks throughout the day. The price for the two of us was extremely reasonable. He made our trip to the island memorable and had us wanting to start asking about real-estate prices! By the time we were done, we began to feel like close friends. We would definitely go on an excursion again with him, if we ever revisit his enchanted isle.
