Hawaii Private Gyroplane Flights Over Oahu’s North Shore

Jerry was an incredible host. The gyroplane tour was a highlight of my trip and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re in Oahu, you HAVE to do this, you won’t regret it!

I had the most amazing time this was by far the best activity I booked in Hawaii! The views were incredible and it was so fun being in an open cockpit plane. The take off and landing was very smooth and the pilot was lovely. He explained how the aircraft works etc very well and let me shadow his take off and landing. He also explained lots of different viewpoints around the north coast of the island. All in all it was a fabulous expierence that I will be sure to recommend to friends.

Absolutely worth the experience, especially if you haven’t done it before. Nothing like seeing the island from up top in the open cockpit. Jay was awesome. Talked about the plane, the area, and pointed out some turtles and whales way up high too.

My family had the time of their lives! At the end of our summer vacation I asked my son and husband what their favorite thing was and they both said the gyroplane!! Smiles all day! My teenage son now wants to learn to fly one and my husband said, “It was the most peaceful wonderful experience”. Jay was so great explaining and giving us so much wonderful info about it since my son was so curious about the history of the gyroplane and how it works. If there is one thing you should do while in Oahu it’s this !! Thank you Jay for making my families trip complete.

What an unbelievable experience! I was nervous at first because of my fear of heights, but Jays presentation of the Gyroplane and his expirience/passion for flying made me very comfortable. We went on many adventures during our time in Hawaii and this was by far the one we keep reflecting on, it's a must do.

This experience was amazing! Jay and his gyrocopter is an experience you need to edge in your travel plans. Jay gave a great overview of history and mechanics of the craft prior to your flight. He was patient and puts your nerves to rest as you real in the information. Sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking views that Hawaii has to offer from Jay’s gyrocopter!!!!

The Gyroplane was an excellent experience and will recommend for anyone who is looking for having a fun time with and great skyline view of the North Shore.

Starting from the hangar, this whole experience was amazing. I'm so glad I went and definitely recommend including a gyrocopter flight/lesson with Jay in your travel plans! Jay explained some of the history and mechanics of the gyrocopter which was pretty cool to learn about, and then gave an overview of what to expect on the flight. He made it easy to absorb the information and he was so relaxed and approachable that it totally put my nerves at ease. Once you're up and flying in the open air, it's an incredible and one of a kind experience - and oddly peaceful! It feels relatively easy to fly with Jay's guidance if you want to take the reins, however you can also sit back and relax if you're not comfortable. The best part is you can focus on just enjoying the experience as you don't have to worry about taking any photos - there's a camera mounted to the gyrocopter and they'll take video/photos for you. I think this would make an awesome bday/gift experience too. :) Have fun!

This excursion was amazing and offered excellent views of Oahu's North Shore. The pilot (Jay) was very professional and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this unique tour.

My sons and I went to do the Skyland Air Gyroplane with Jay. The hangar was easy enough to find. When we got there, Jay was doing some maintenance checks on the aircraft. While doing that he was telling us how the aircraft works and he introduce us to the world of Gyroplane, when Jay and I got to the air, it was amazing! He let me fly the aircraft except for the landing and take off, we went through over the mountains and the beach. It was truly an amazing adventure! We get a certificate after the flight, we will do it again when we get back.

I flew with Jay today and it was amazing! I was definitely a bit apprehensive at first but he did a wonderful job explaining the gyrocopter and making me feel confident and comfortable. We got amazing views of Ka’ena point and even got to see a whale! The views from up there are so spectacular I couldn’t recommend this experience enough!

What a phenominal flight! Jay is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about flying. It was a flight of a lifetime. We even got to take control of the craft and pilot ourselves. This should definitely be at the top of your bucket list!

I took an instructional trip with Jay and it was incredible! He made me feel very comfortable right from the get go and once we were in the air it was like nothing I've ever done before! Amazing being able to see (and feel) 360 degrees, including under the gyrocopter!! You are out in the elements and get a very real sense of what it's like to be a soaring eagle. Jay even let me take control of the flying on my first flight. I can't recommend Jay enough, you will NOT be disappointed. Thank you so much!!

Absolute favorite unique experience in Oahu. The views are GORGEOUS and peaceful. Our instructor Jay taught us alot about the gyrocopters. They are so safe. I'd choose this over any helicopter tour. Get above the clouds, Feel the air all around you, get the chance to steer the gyroplane yourself, plus get an unforgettable view of the beaches and mountains. 10000% recommend!

I had the best time of my life. Jay was the best!!! It was amazing!!! The view was beautiful!!! This was definitely one of my favorite activities in Hawaii!!! If you are thinking about doing this, do it!!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!

Such a unique experience and way to see the North Shore. Like a doors off helicopter flight but better! I felt safe and comfortable with Jay flying and even got to try and fly a little bit. Highly recommend to anyone!

Without a doubt, flying a Gyrocopter was one of the coolest things I have ever done. The wind in your hair paired with an overhead view of the island and the ability to actually control the machine for most of the flight is an experience you will find nowhere else, and one you should absolutely not pass up. Jay is a wonderful teacher and an even better person. Not only did he convince me to seek out another flight, but I am also now beyond tempted to pursue my own license and Gyrocopter. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who has even the slightest curiosity or interest. I guarantee it will be the highlight of any vacation.

I had a very good experience flying with Jay, he was very confident in what he was doing, which made me put my fears away and just enjoy the flight. The views were simply magnificent, I would definitely do the flight again if I had the chance. I felt a feeling of freedom while up in the air, but also the landing and take off were smooth and enjoyable. I’m so glad that I randomly found out about this activity, because I never knew about the existence of the gyroplane. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys flying.

This was an amazing experience. There is no more beautiful way to experience HI! This was my first gyro ride. The instruction provided made me feel like I could easily take steps to become a gyro pilot. There is just something about the perfect height, the air, the view and location that made this an unforgettable experience.

This was soooooo cool. You get to see such epic views of the north shore! A photographer and nature lovers dream.

This experience was definitely one for the books! The views are breathtaking but so is the flight in this aircraft, you feel like you’re flying yourself. Learning how it works down to maneuvering it myself was such a unique fun experience and I recommend it to anyone and everyone! Jay was fun, very knowledgeable and passionate about everything!

This is a must do for anyone that has a sense of adventure. this Gyrocopter is a real sweet unit and very responsive aircraft. The views of the North Shore and open air feel really put a smile on my face.

One of the best experience, flying in the gyro made me feel like a bird while admiring the beautiful north shore, the fly is really smooth and you can look everywhere. Jay is a great instructor very knowledgeable and patients. I want to do this again and again

This was an absolutely incredible experience. Jay is a great guy, and a very,very knowledgeable and competent pilot. He taught us a lot about the gyroplane, and it was great fun to take the stick for awhile. I would ,and will, do this again.

I really enjoyed this experience with instructor and operator Jay. Definitely unique and the views were great. Getting the chance to take the controls for part of the flight was both exciting and educational. Can’t wait to see the photos and video we captured too.

This is one of the most amazing things to do in Hawaii! What an incredible way to experience the North Shore, from 1000ft above! The most surprising part about this was how safe it feels! Descending feels like floating on a cloud. Jay talked through the pre-flight check and the history of the auto-gyro, and that it really is one of the safest aircraft out there. All that, and you get to have an open cockpit and you are really immersed in your surroundings. You almost forget you're flying above it all. Until Jay hands you the controls! Would definitely do this again! And again...

Flying a gyroplane was my family's favorite activity in Hawaii, by far. What an incredible experience! My daughter was all smiles for the rest of our trip after her flight with Jay. It was fascinating learning about the gyroplane, and the scenery on the North Shore from an aerial perspective was breathing taking. My daughter continues to enjoy the experience days later by reliving the ride with her friends through her videos and pictures. Jay took the time to craft some great Instagram posts (@flyskylandair) and she's the topic of conversation in her friend group on social media, and what teenager doesn't love that! Incredible! I possibly anticipated a bumpier ride or belly flopping but it was super smooth! Take off was gentle. I quickly got entranced with everything happening around me. Saw a whale immediately beneath the surface of the water! It's such an incredible experience to be up there in the cool air. In a small plane you feel in your environment, inside the plane. On the gyroplane you feel the outside, so that's where your mind is too. It was easy to forget any nervousness when I could be that engaged with whats happening around me. Thanks Jay!

Seriously a one of a kind experience, I got to see whales breeching since it was peak season, Jay is a great pilot and my flight was definitely the highlight of my stay 10/10 recommend!!

This experience was life changing!! First off, my boyfriend and I were only on the island for one day and really wanted to do something special that involved being in the air. We were connected with Jay who was aware of our time crunch and really worked with us to make this experience special from the moment we called him to the moment we landed ! When we got to the hanger , we met up with him and he gave us the history of the gyro aircraft, the guy really knows his stuff! Honestly , relying on the information we learned about the unique design of the aircraft really helped ease my nerves once I was in the air. The entire flight I was in awe, from seeing the different blues in the ocean to seeing the pineapple fields that lay just on the other side of the mountains . The flight was so beautiful and so calming. Jay was an amazing guide who really brought Hawaii to life , he even lets you steer if you want ! We really enjoyed our time and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you book this experience next time you are near!
