Our local historian (Eli) was a great guide! He was very knowledgeable about the local history, knew the perfect spots to stop and was very accommodating to all the guests. He navigated the narrow roads with skill. Great communication for pick up too. Would recommend and would go again!

Itinerary
Embark on a breathtaking Maui adventure along the famous Hana Highway! Discover lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and ocean views. We’ll pass Ho’okipa Beach Park, the ‘wind sport capital,’ and spot Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Explore the colorful Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, drive through the Bamboo Forest, and visit the rugged Keanae Peninsula to see crashing waves, enjoy fresh banana bread, and stop by the historic Lanakila Church (built in 1856). At Pua’a Ka’a State Park, swim in refreshing freshwater pools (at your own discretion and risk) or simply relax. With pick-up and drop-off included, this is Maui’s magic at its best!"
Drive-by Pa'ia town with its rich history of plantation camps, which housed workers of the old Paia Sugar Mill.
Your first stop before your Half Day Road to Hana Adventure begins. Take a stretch and bathroom break and visit the local store for gifts, snacks and, drinks.
Small Hawaiian villages doing their best to live like the Hawaiians of old. Hunting pigs and growing taro, bread fruit, and Bananas are all big parts of everyday life in this small community. It’s also the site of the famous Half Way to Hana Snack stand; shave ice, fresh coconut, cold drinks and of course the Original Fresh Baked Banana Bread. The Keanae overlook and peninsula offer views of one of the largest taro farms in Hawaii.
Enjoy the best Banana Bread of your life! Take a moment to sit down and enjoy some banana bread and drinks. And take a bathroom break.
It is fairly easy to access the waterfall from here. Some people like to take a dip in the chilly waters by the waterfall and on a hot day. Wear swim suit layered and bring change of clothes. Don't forget the towels.
See the rainbow eucalyptus trees and immerse yourself in the lush rainforest scenery bursting with color, life, and tropical fragrance
Ho'okipa Beach is considered the windsurfing capital of the world, you can enjoy watching wind surfers, kite boarders and surfers challenge the oceans waves and shoreline winds. This is also the Threatened Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle capital of Maui, with 200-pound turtles feeding along the shoreline and basking on the beach all day long.

Great tour - wish the waterfall was a little more accessible. Lots of food stops and good driver - helpful
Jessica shared great insights about the towns and beautiful sights around Hana and about the Hawaiian culture. She had a very warm and generous spirit!
Jessica did a wonderful job! She was knowledgeable and interacted with all the guests well. She truly loves what she does.
This was a good alternative to a full day road to Hana experience. We saw very many interesting things and the stops we made gave us the full experience. Our driver, Malia, was a good driver and very knowledgeable about plants and Hawaiian history. Very enjoyable trip.
We had an amazing day with Malia. We learned so much about Maui, the plants and animals, and Hawaiian culture. This was a fabulous day that I would recommend to anyone visiting the island.
Janet and I enjoyed a fabulous experience on the Maui’s Sea Turtles & Waterfalls: Taste of Hana Guided Tour! We saw many waterfalls and watched others jumping into the pool area below the waterfall. We also saw sea turtles, amazing flora & ginger plants and rainbow eucalyptus trees; all from an extremely comfortable Mercedes van. Our driver and guide was Jessica. She is exceptional in providing useful information for her guests to have the best experience! This tour and day was a great experience. We learned so much; enjoyed ourselves, and loved not having to drive ourselves!! So happy we did this tour!
What a beautiful part of the world! So much to see. Not enough time. Eli did an amazing job sharing his knowledge of the Island and its culture & beauty. Can’t wait to take the full tour next time🌺
You have an opportunity to jump in the water at two of the waterfalls so wear your suit and bring a towel.
The halfway to Hana was perfect. We saw many beautiful waterfalls, eucalyptus trees, bamboo trees, and enjoyed some Hawaiian banana bread. We also stopped at a beach and saw over 40 turtles. Watched the surfers in the ocean enjoying the day. It was a wonderful experience.
We had a. Amazing trip with Tristan. He was truly a pleasure to guide us on the 1/2 road to Hana! He took time to explain everything and shared personal experiences growing up in Hawaii. We would take this tour again! Thank you!
Great trip highly recommend. Our guide Eli was just wonderful. From the time we got picked up he gave us info on the various towns we passed thru and the history. He was very knowledgeable of all the vegetation in the area and pointed out great views along the way. Small group very comfortable van and skilled driver.
Very comfortable touring van and Eli was a great guide— friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing views of the ocean alternating with numerous inland waterfalls. It was a lot of riding on twisty, mountainous roads, so if you’re inclined to car sickness be forewarned. But definitely better than trying to navigate that route ourselves in a rental car. We felt safe with Eli at the wheel and he knew all the roadside spots for the best beauty shots. It was a fun day, we got great photos and we really learned a lot!
Eli was a great guide. He shared lots of great stories ( both personal and historical) and was a great driver, too! The bus was super clean and very nice. It seats 12 very comfortably. The agenda may have been a bit ambitious, though. Eli was careful to get us back on time for those with dinner activities. I understand that this activity was “Hana Lite”. However, I would have traded 40 minutes at the taco stand for a chance to walk in the waterfalls instead of just taking pictures. Overall, still a nice day.
Our tour guide Eli was great!! Very knowledgeable and very patient. Can tell he loves what he does. If I was to ever come again… if it were possible.. I would ask for him.
Eli was great! Very safe driver. Made sure we had beverages to drink. Very informative. Only downfall for this tour is that you can’t really stop to take pictures on the “half road” to Hana and you only get 20 minutes to swim in the falls—half of that time is used to change in the bathroom. So I didn’t go into the water. Other than that I felt we rushed back because we had to get anther couple back to their destination in time. The stop we made by the rocks to look at the ocean was beyond beautiful! But that was the only highlight. I think next time I’d rather pay for a private tour or do the regular road to Hana tour for more time.
Our guide was very nice; however, we were advised before the trip to bring water shoes because we’d be visiting a waterfall, but during the tour, our guide informed us that the halfway trip doesn’t include that stop. My feet never touched any water, just wish they had been honest in email so we could set expectations with our family/pack less.
Triston made this trip unforgettable and extremely fun! He helped us into the waterfall, gave a narrated tour with history, and had such a friendly and welcoming nature. He ensured we had everything we needed and then some. Mahalo!
My wife and I chose the half way to Hana tour with Aloha Pixabus. We had a great time with our guide and driver Eli. He has been on Maui most of his life, so he is very knowledgeable about the sights and the Hawaiian culture. Due to it being a weekday, we were the only people on this tour. We had a private guided tour, and it was fantastic. Pixabus has been around for many years, with a variety of tours, and they continue to expand their options. We would totally recommend them for your tours. Thank you again Eli for this great adventure.
It may be much longer than the stated duration of six hours. There were people on the excursion that booked longer versions of Road to Hana . The tour guide can make or break your experience. We had Eli who was an exceptional driver and a fountain of information on Maui and the Hawaiian islands. He made the excursion so worthwhile. He's a keeper. The road is narrow and windey but the spectacular scenery along the way makes it totally worthwhile.
Aloha Pixabus Maui gave us an incredible family experience on the Road to Hana. The waterfalls and views were unforgettable. The bus was new, clean, and comfortable. Our guide kept us laughing and shared great stories and history. It was the highlight of our trip. I recommend this tour to families and couples looking for a fun and well-organized adventure.
Cancelled last minute. On Saturday, we were moved from Sunday to Monday due to not being enough people. Then on Sunday we were refunded the amount and told that they had car issues so it would be unsafe to drive on Monday. So we did the drive ourselves by downloading Shaka Guide instead. However, we were very disappointed as by Monday, it was too late to book another tour and that was our last day on the island. Also, the black sand beach requires reservations which we did not make because of this tour. Very, very disappointing experience.
Malissa was the most wonderful tour guide on the Road to Hana! She is knowledgeable and you can tell she loves the town of Maui! You will not regret booking this experience!
FANTASTIC and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE tour guide (Malissa). She will keep you well informed on the various attractions and hawaiian history and is very easy going and directable. We thoroughly enjoyed our half day trip. The small group experience was a terrific bonus. Very clean sprinter Merc van, and Malissa is an excellent and safe driver. We hope to return in future to one of her tours.
Malissa was a fantastic local guide. She knew all the good stops on the Road to Hana. We found the yummy banana bread, the great Hawaiian turtles, a waterfall where we jumped into a refreshing pool of water. I would highly recommend!
It was amazing! Beautiful picture spots, very knowledgeable tour guide. Malissa shared some wonderful history with us. It was an Incredible experience all around!!
The Halfway to Hana tour with Aloha Pixabus was amazing! Our sprinter van was clean and brand new, and our guide was fun and knowledgeable. We loved the delicious stops for fresh banana bread and tropical fruits, plus the stunning views were unforgettable. The pace was perfect—relaxed and never rushed. Highly recommend this unique Maui experience!
Our road to Hana tour was absolutely amazing. Our guide Malissa was super informative, funny, engaging, patient, and adventurous which really kept the tour going. The stops were beautiful. The waterfalls and beaches were amazing. You may want to buy two banana bread loafs because they're delicious. If you get car sick, definitely take something because the 200+ hair pin turns aren't for weak stomachs but if you get Malissa you at least will have a skilled driver behind the wheel. 10/10 AAA+ so worth it.
