Melissa showed us an amazing experience of a half day (and more) with her thoughtful, well planned experience on Maui. She was right on time, communicated ahead, asked about expectations of what we wanted to see, made great suggestions, and lined up an excellent day! Melissa was full of history, insights and local tips about everything. She even went out of her way to find things that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise like the peridots in the black sand, the awapui that is used in shampoo, pink bananas (who knew?!!), sea seeds that are like little macarons, and so much more. We saw and soaked in beautiful Maui thanks to Melissa’s kindness and care. She’s also a great driver and knows the road to Hana inside and out. We felt safe and well cared for making a new friend in Melissa. The best day!
A wonderful half day with Kobe! He knows everything about the island from history to wildlife. Felt very safe on the windy roads. Would recommend this tour to everyone! One tip is that our hotel was an hour from the road and we had a pickup there - to see more on the road one might drive to a closer location to the road. But no complaints - Kobe even gave us extra time. Book this tour - you won't regret it! Ask for Kobe!

The Half Road to Hana was more than our family of 9 expected. We were in two different vehicles but our guides, Spencer and Luke, provided us with a most memorable experience. Both were very knowledgeable about the surroundings, the history of the area and were always willing to take our questions. Both were humorous and polite young men. While at a waterfall, our son and oldest granddaughter jumped off the waterfall after being guided and instructed ever so carefully as to how to jump safely. Needless to say they were beyond excited about their successful jumps! And the guides jumped as well. All jn all it was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii and thank you to the guides for making it so!
John made our Road to Hana tour unforgettable. His knowledge of the island’s history, culture, legend and agriculture was incredible, and he had an answer for every question we asked. He made the experience feel personal by tailoring the stops to our interests, and it truly felt like we were exploring with a friend rather than being on a tour. He even took the time to learn and pronounce our names correctly, which meant a lot especially since our names are hard to pronounce. On top of that, his recommendations for food and other activities were spot on. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

The private half day tour was perfect for my family. Our guide, Shayne, took us to multiple interesting spots for great photo opportunities. He customized the trip based on our interests (if we had wanted to jump/swim by waterfalls, we could have done that but we preferred to spend our time with more photo stops - and also really appreciated the pick up and drop off at our hotel (Hyatt Regency)). He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and took many family photos for us. The vehicle was very comfortable. Highly recommend.

This was a perfect way to do the road to Hana and lots of local sites. We were a family of 6 including my parents and my 2 sons (11 & 8) and the SUV was very comfortable for all of us. We were on the Pride of America cruise and met John just out of the port area, he sent a text a few days prior with suggestions and our meeting point. John was a great tour guide and has a lot of knowledge about the area, others in our cruise group did a different tour and we learned a lot more on tour than they did! We really saw a lot during the halfway tour and I don’t feel like we missed out on anything. I’m so glad we did the tour and had a confidant driver because those roads are narrow and windy especially for a bunch of Floridians! Taking a dip by the waterfall was definitely a highlight as well as learning about the peridot on the beach! I would highly recommend doing this tour!

We had an amazing day with John Moore who shared all his knowledge of Maui (and the other islands) and took us to authentic and beautiful gems that weren’t overly touristy. Kobe, our guide, took us to sites not offered by our ship’s excursion. Moreover, his knowledge of Hawaiian folklore and customs made the journey fascinating. His kindness and expertise made our tour a phenomenal success!
Our driver is very professional and knows the the tour route very well. She brought us to various sightseeing spots. We enjoyed the tour and went to see beautiful falls, turtles, beaches and rainbow trees. She explained the history of various locations an local habitats.

We did the half day tour since we had early dinner plans, and I wanted to enjoy the Road to Hana without having to focus on driving. Koby was our tour guide. He was extremely knowlegable about the area and the history of Maui. He took us to a beach with sea turtles, and even found a secluded black sand beach. I strongly recommend this tour.
We had scheduling constraints, and 2 of us get motion sickness. No sickness and Koby was an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable and personable. Enjoyed the day immensely and really wish we had had more time. We highly recommend this company and Koby. So glad we could fit this in. What an amazing trip! Shayne was awesome and no doubt made the experience what it was. He was so full of positive energy and really interacted with the family and was great with the youngest boys. He was knowledgeable and really strived to make it the best possible experience for us. Will no doubt be calling next year when we return!
This trip was well worth the cost! It was only the four of us and Charlie our driver. He customized the trip to what we wanted to see. We got to see most of the sights we wanted to see in a more intimate, shorter tour. Charlie was an absolutely awesome driver and narrator.
We had an amazing trip to Hana with Donovan. We appreciate the custom experience and communication! We enjoyed visiting the cute town of Makawao for a brief shopping stop. Then we hit classic stops of the black sand beach, red sand beach, banana bread, waterfalls and sea turtles! We saw it all. Donovan provides a lot of interesting information about the island to complete the experience.

My daughter and I are very prone to motion sickness and he often checked in on us to make sure we could handle the journey. Donavon asked questions about priorities and interests during pre-tour conversations and determined the tour outlined on website needed revisions to meet our expectations. He developed a customized plan that hit the mark. The tour exceeded our expectations. The diverse scope and depth and breadth of content provided the group with a coherent understanding of Maui’s history, culture, traditions and future. The Hana Road was an important component, but far from the only focus. Here are examples that made this special: 1. We travelled a beautiful road to connect the Hana Road. Both segments provided incomparable unique and beautiful landscape. Donovan’s deep knowledge was very apparent from his constant commentary on topics ranging from history, geology, living on Maui and key issues facing residents. 2. Donavan out of the way” stops not included in standard tours due to limited access. We were exposed to historical sites, spectacular ocean and mountain view’s, small towns, the defunct sugar plantations and actions underway to benefit Maui residents and grow the economy. The group was highly engaged during 6+ hour tour. Donovan’s unique ability to integrate related information into a compelling story vs stating facts and figures was the primary factor influencing each person's ongoing engagement and interest. Donovan is personable and connects easily with people. The trip was well organized. Spending most of a day with Donovan was a real pleasure.

Oh my gosh, I can’t say enough about our tour! Michelle was simply amazing. Having a private guide to ourselves made a world of difference! She called the day before to target our interest and then made a plan based on that. She was familiar with the area and took us to desired locations. We were able to stay as short or as long as we wanted and she adjusted other stops based on that. In addition, she took nearly 100 photos of us at the various stops. We saw waterfalls, a canyon, a black sand beach, and turtles, etc., just as promised. Having the private guide was worth every cent. By the end of our afternoon, it felt like we were family, in town for a visit. I highly recommend this tour!

The half day was the perfect length tour for us and Melissa was the perfect guide! We learned so much about Maui!
Great half day Road to Hana tour with Spencer!! He’s very knowledgeable on Hawaiian culture and history making the tour an engaging experience. Don’t drive it yourself. There is much more to be gained being a passenger with an experienced tour guide.
With a private guide, and the big price tag, I though this would be a personalized trip. The guide, Eo, did not ask us any questions about where we wanted to stop or what we were interested in. When I commented as we passed some places I wanted to see, he replied that he already had the day planned out. This half-way to Hana trip is a brief sketch of seeing the road, and maybe a few stops of 10-15 minutes each, with one very short hike (.25 mile round trip), which is fine if you want an abbreviated tour, but I think it should be customized and a conversation if it is a private tour. The most important thing I want to say is that we did not fee safe with this driver. He drove quite a bit with only his left knee on the wheel and no hands on the wheel (not on the road to Hana, but on regular roads) and he often took his eyes off the road along with his hands to show us maps and sheets of paper. We told them that he could wait to show us until we were stopped, but he kept doing it. Even though I liked the sights and the driver knew the surroundings well, I just wanted the whole thing to be over and get home safely. I would not recommend this driver/tour guide.

My wife and I drove to Hana ourselves 25 years ago. We had no idea what we missed out on until years later, we went back with our family of five on a tour with our guide Spencer. We didn’t want to spend 8-12 hours in a vehicle like we did the first time on our own, so the half day tour was perfect. Spencer was a great guide. Before our trip, he clearly communicated what to expect, what to bring and what he suggests. He was a very safe driver. He shared extensive knowledge about the culture, food, shops, geology, plants, and animals in the area. Spencer actively listened to what we were interested in and he took us to some amazing sites!
Our Tour Guide was John and he was absolutely amazing! He took us to all the cool spots that were not overrated with too many people. He was very accommodating. We had our five-year-old daughter with us so we did do the half throw hana so that it wasn’t too much for her. It was a perfect experience, snacks and drinks and we learned a lot of little history facts about Maui. We tend to recommend this tour, especially if you have younger kids.
