Golden Hour Glow Snorkel: Snorkel With Sea Turtles

My husband and I have been to Maui five times since 2021 and have gone on many different snorkel tours. With that being said, this was hands down the BEST snorkel experience we have ever participated in. We’ve been to Lanai and Molokini a handful of times, which were awesome in their own right. Still so, this event was like nothing else we’ve done before. We started out in the water as the sun was settling into the horizon and ended surrounded by a stunning display of stars in the night sky. My husband and I were fortunate enough to literally watch the sunset in the company of a majestic sea turtle as we three gently swayed with the clear blue ocean waves together. Our guide, Robbie, was amazing; he ensured we had a one-of-a-kind experience. He even dove down and presented each of us with a pin cushion sea star and then later with red-pencil sea urchins. We were able to hold them all while he documented every highlight of the evening. We saw multiple sea turtles, and even lobsters. I even witnessed a full-size (HUGE) spotted eagle ray. It was completely dark at the time and we were using flashlights to illuminate the lava rocks, coral and the sea bed when my beam caught sight of the ray as it went from a slow flutter to a high-speed exit. Truly phenomenal! Despite snorkeling in total darkness neither my husband nor I ever felt scared, not even a hint of apprehension. I think it was a combo of Robbie’s experiential knowledge mixed with his friendly demeanor and quiet confidence that belayed a sense of security that all was in-hand. Plus, it didn’t hurt that we were the only two people on the tour. The gear provided was top notch, especially the flashlights. The lights cut straight through the darkness of the water making it feel like a game of adventure hide and seek! We also rented a a hand-held power jet we shared back and forth. The power jet had some serious power allowing you to either dive quickly down and up or just zoom-zoom through the water. My husband dubbed it the “James Bond - 007”. Robbie had all sorts of cool gadgets and high-quality equipment. I can’t recommend this tour enough. YOU WILL NOT REGET IT!

If you’re traveling to Maui I recommend this 100%. Everything from the start to finish was amazing, 10/10 experience!! Robby was an amazing guide, he made sure we are safe, he took excellent care of those who were getting tired, he explained everything so perfectly. We saw so many turtles and other sea creatures!! The guides were also taking lots of pictures and videos he shared w us so all of it was also documented!! Definitely recommend!!!!!!

Joe is the best guide and we had so so much fun. He took incredible photos for us and we got lucky as it was just my husband and I so it was very nice and personalized. My husband isn’t the strongest swimmer and overall Joe was good at encouraging him and we were able to go more at my husband’s pace which we both are thankful for. Joe thank you so so much for such an incredible time and such great photos for the memories. We wish you all the best and are so thankful you were such a big part of our Maui adventure.

Robbie was a great communicator. He was on time and even text/call to make sure I get to the meet up point correctly. He captured some good moments under the water. Definitely a must try activity. You get to do in a smaller good. And have all the exclusive time with the turtles.

Robbie led us on an incredible tour tonight. We had more than enough time out in water. Lots of safety checks. Most importantly-so many turtles! Unique to be able to go at dusk and truly special time in the water.

This was such a fun experience!! I didn't know what to expect snorkeling with flashlights, but I was pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Joe was an excellent host, making everyone feel at ease. He took the time to explain things and make it fun and made sure to take tons of pictures and videos. We saw tons of turtles, got to hold sea urchins and caught the sunset from the water. Then used our flashlights on the way back to the beach! SO fun! I would highly recommend this experience.

My husband and I did this just us and we had a really great time. We saw so many turtles! And not only did we see so many turtle but we were close to them too. You could get within feet of them. Our tour guide Robbie was super nice and helpful . He helped us hold a few underwater creatures. We had to swim a good ways out into the water to get to the turtles so if you aren't physically fit, I don't recommend this. You don't have to be an athlete or anything and life jackets are provided but it was tiring swimming out there. I do also have to mention that in the title of the tour it says something along the lines of "with photos and video." Our guide did take lots of photos and videos of us but it cost $25 extra a person. The booking made it seem like photos and video was included in the initial price because it's in the title. Nowhere in the description of the booking does it mention that pictures are extra. So yah, that should be fixed. But overall I recommend this tour. It was my husband's favorite thing that we did!

Our reservations were cancelled due to the weather, something out of my control. I was told that I would get my money back. Almost 3 weeks later, I have yet to receive my refund . I messaged and emailed the company asking for an update. I was asked to send a copy of the receipt, which I sent January 25th. I have yet to receive my refund or even an acknowledgement that my email was received. At this point I don't know if I'll get my money back for a service that was not provided. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

Robby took us to see the sea turtles and tons of other marine life. It was laid back but still an awesome adventure. We had an incredible time!

This one one of the coolest tours I’ve ever done! I was a little nervous because I knew it was going to get dark, but our guide Robbie was stellar! He consistently made sure we all were comfortable in the water! Then once we got to the cave, it was a turtle run way. So many turtles in and out the entire time! I’ve never had a cooler experience! We even saw a SHARK! Robbie also took amazing photos and videos! Thank you so much for the memories that will last forever!

Snorkeling directly from the beach during the sunset was a unique experience and a cool change from the typical daytime boat ride offered elsewhere. We were able to swim up close with several sea turtles. Robbie was a great guide!

Robbie was an awesome guide!! He showed us around a turtle cave. we got to see multiple turtles, an eel, a puffer fish and even a shark !! He was very experienced and let us hold a sea urchin and starfish to take pictures with ! He captured so many good photos and videos. I would definitely book with him/this company if you’re looking into it at all :)

This IS the best experience we had! Robby our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the sea life we were about to encounter. He was really good at pointing out what to look at so you didn’t miss it. I highly recommend this if you are looking for something a little more hands on as he will grab you starfish and urchins that are safe to be touched and to touch. We snorkeled from the beach to turtle town and got to see so many turtles, fish and sea life our entire snorkeling trip. It’s a good time to snorkel as the turtles come up for air before they go to bed. It’s a small group so you know you won’t miss a thing. Thanks Robby for such a great experience.

The Sunset Glow Snorkel was so much fun! My daughter (15) and I had a blast and saw so many turtles. This was our favorite part of our vacation in Maui. Robbie was an amazing guide and made sure we all stuck together. And for those wondering the swim is not too difficult. (I am not in the best shape). Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Maui!!

So fun! Saw so many turtles and a beautiful sunset. We got to hold some cool sea plants and would do it again if we could!

My wife and I booked this experience and we were overall very happy with it! We had a great time and felt very taken care of! Robbie and John went out their way to make sure our snorkel gear was ready to go, fit nicely, and we were comfortable. They were also very knowledgeable on snorkeling and the area we were in (Makena Landing). They went out of their way to show us the ropes and ensured our safety. It was a nice touch that they also took pictures of us before the snorkel in the water and during the experience. At one point, my life jacket had came unzipped mid-snorkel and John fixed it and made sure I was good. I even dropped my flashlight (oops lol!) and John dove down and got it without hesitation. I would recommend a way for them to have flashlights that have wrist straps, so people don't have to worry about holding on to them during the snorkel. Also my wife and I accidentally lost the group at one point but John came over to us and guided us back on track with a boogie board which we were very grateful for! In that instance, I wish there was a beacon that was hooked onto Robbie (he led the group and was in front) either in the water and/or sticking out of the water for easy visibility and tracking. Robbie did dive down to pick up various sea creatures so we could take pictures, but I couldn't help but think if that was harmful for the creature we were touching and observing. With that being said, I loved how we saw MANY turtles, but in hindsight we felt bad because it seemed like Robbie had to coerce them out the cave. In which, it seemed like we disturbed their sleep. At the end of the snorkel, Robbie & John made sure everyone was okay and pointed out where we could rinse off. They offered the pictures that were taken as well for a additional cost, which I wish was stated when purchasing the tour and/or in advance. Overall the experience was a good one and the customer service Robbie & John gave was top notch!

Robbie and John were amazing guides!! They walked us through everything took the time to help us all out and make sure our gear was good. The trip into the water was really cool, they were helping everyone and making sure we were all together and no one was left behind. Robbie took some amazing pictures of my group and the turtles we saw! He took the time to make sure everyone had their own photos and a perfect experience. If your in Maui even for a few days i would recommend this 10/10 it’s the perfect activity to do alone or with people. Thanks again!!

What a treat! The perfect way to swim with loads of turtles and we even saw a whitetip shark. Robbie & John were great guides, knowledgeable and informative and great at keeping an eye out on everybody in the currents. They also bring a couple of boards in case you need to hold on for a rest along the way. For an extra price there are opportunities to take home pictures taken by the guides too. An extra special way to snorkel with a beautiful sunset and torches to light up the reef below. Can’t recommend this enough!

The best snorkeling with Sea turtles experience ever! 1000% MUST if you’re in Maui!! My boyfriend and I have snorkeled in search of sea turtles before but this was by far the best experience we’ve had. The members of our group had mentioned they had snorkeled in Molokini Crater but they seen way more turtles during our trip. We seen maybe 15-20+ turtles during our swim, it was so amazing. Robbie was our snorkel guides, he was super chill and took photos of us for a bit extra of a price. We swam out from the beach along the coast to the outside of an underwater cove where the sea turtles love to hang out especially during sunrise and sunset. It was honestly so beautiful, it was actually majestic. Be prepared to swim!! It is a solid amount of swimming, approximately half a mile round trip (not including treading once you get there). While it may not seem too far, we were fighting the current pretty hard, nothing scary or too dangerous as Robbie was watching out for us and making sure we were all together through the swim, but it was tiresome. Bring a phone pouch for photos if you want to! Overall, 15/10 experience!!

We were a mixed group ranging from teens to 70s. Robbie, our guide, was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. We were excited to swim with the turtles and rays as the sun set on the water. We all love the photos and videos to remind us of a special evening, shared with treasures of the sea.
