First Day Must: Oahu Sunrise & Circle Island Adventure

I did the full day circle island with sunrise hosted by guide Kurt (aka Kurty Kurt, aka Kirt). I went on this same tour back in 2019 (also with Kurt!) and it was even better the second time in 2026. The tour company focuses on "photo" tours and does a great job balancing the time spent at each location for both touristy purposes as well as photo shooting time. Kurt was full of energy and offered photo tips along the way without overdoing it for people who were less interested in the photography aspect. Overall, I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great one-day tour to get a nice overview of Oahu by getting out of the metropolitian areas.

This was my third trip ever to Honolulu, but my first time seeing the rest of Oahu, since my two prior trips were for business. Our tour guide, Andrew, was amazing. He was on time, courteous, and knowledgeable about the island's history and culture. Andrew also gave me tips to improve my photography and suggested better ways to use both my iPhone and my camera by adjusting the settings. From Sunset Beach to the Kalapawai Market to Pali Lookout to North Shore to Haleiwa to Leonard's Bakery (for the malasadas), this 10-hour tour was fantastic! You get your money's worth!

KURT was amazing!!!! The tour was amazing! Every stop was a WOW moment! So many beautiful photos and experiences. We loved every moment and would do it again. Definitely would look up this tour company for future tours on Hawaii!! Did we say KURT was amazing?!!!!!

Chris was amazing! Went the extra mile to make sure everyone got some great photos. He also wisely switched up our route to avoid some big tour groups—which was appreciated and gave us more time in some spots that could have gotten very crowded had we stuck to the original itinerary. This was our second time taking the Oahu Photography Tour, and we had Andrew as our tour guide again! He was actually our guide the first time too, so it was really nice to see him again. Andrew was fantastic throughout the whole 10-hour tour. Even though it was a long day, we never felt bored because he made the whole journey fun and enjoyable. We also had plenty of stops at beautiful spots to take pictures. Andrew shared lots of photography tips with us, showed us the best angles, and even helped us take some really nice photos. We learned quite a few new tricks from him! One thing we really liked about this tour was that the stops weren't too crowded, so we could enjoy the scenery and take pictures at our own pace. We even got to see turtles swimming in the ocean which was a lucky encounter. Overall, this tour deserves a 5-star rating, but with Andrew as our guide, I would give it a 5++! 😂 It's not often you get a tour guide who makes the experience so enjoyable that you look forward to seeing him again on your next visit. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oahu!

Chris was our tour guide for the day and he was amazing. Chris was on time, helped us picking great spots along the day and shared an expansive amount of knowledge. Chris also took photos throughout the day and shared them with us at the end, allowing us to enjoy and take in the day. Highly recommend asking for Chris if you are after a carefree and enjoyable day on the island. I’ve been told Alex is alright too 😉

This tour was definitely worth it, 100%. Chris was an amazing tour guide. He was punctual for pick up and was extremely engaging during the trip, telling us fun facts and important pieces of Hawaiian history. The stops were amazing and there was an abundance of opportunity for taking amazing photos. The length of the day was perfect, allowing enough time to appreciate and enjoy each site. The size of the tour group was perfect as it felt more personal and did not feel like a commercial money grab. Chris brought an amazing energy to the day and this tour was definitely a highlight of our Hawaii trip. 10/10 would recommend!!

Chris was an amazing tour guide! He is knowledgeable, very funny, super helpful and takes amazing photos! This is my wife’s and I first time in Hawaii, visiting from LA, so we went super Touristy and came to Honolulu, but this tour takes you all around the island to some very hidden gems and places that only locals know. The sunrise was truly special and beautiful, and because it was such a small tour group (only 6 of us) it all felt very intimate. Thank you Chris for the great vibes and awesome experience. Chris was amazing!! Not only was he punctual he made sure we were all comfortable and took us to some of the most amazing places in Hawaii! We saw Mountains, Beaches, Turtles and amazing Food stops. The small group was a win and Chris slotted us in between major tourist companies so we had the places pretty much to ourselves! He also slotted in a few places we requested. Highly rate and recommend! Chris is amazing!! Go do it!

We had an incredible time on the Circle Island Photography tour. Mac, our guide was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely fun, which made the entire day feel relaxed and enjoyable. He shared great tips for capturing the best shots and offered interesting insights about each location we visited. Sandy Beach was by far my favorite stop. The waves, the light, and the dramatic shoreline made it an unforgettable place to photograph. The scenic drive around the island was absolutely beautiful, with stunning views at every turn and plenty of opportunities to capture Oahu’s natural beauty. Overall, this tour was the perfect blend of learning, sightseeing, and creativity. I left with great photos and even better memories. Highly recommend.

If you do nothing else in Oahu - do this tour. It was amazing and so fun. Andrew has so much knowledge of the Island including history, neighborhoods, and photography. He gave us all tips on picture taking on our phones. He sent us all pictures he had taken on the tour.Andrew went above and beyond for our tour group. Do this tour!

The first day sunrise tour was amazing! We started off extremely early in the morning, just to get everything in by the afternoon! This is one of the best tours I have ever gone on for two reasons. One it was Hawaii and two Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about Hawaii and about nice a guy you ever wanna meet. That one question ever went unanswered, he really knew his subject matter and you could tell he really enjoyed it and was proud to talk about it. The tour was a long day, but well worth everything the time and the money, I would recommend it for individuals and families alike. Great, first day excursion. This tour is gonna be hard to beat.

Andrew was hands-down the best guide I’ve had on any GetYourGuide tour — and I’ve done a lot of them. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it shows in how thoughtfully he connects you to the island. Every stop felt intentional, not just scenic. I left wishing I’d booked more of his tours. If you want a local experience that actually feels personal, go with him.

The whole day with Andrew as our guide was spectacular from start to finish. This tour was incredible value for money and the perfect way to see a huge amount of the island in a small group. We really appreciated the photo tips too and now have so many incredible memories to treasure. Maholo!

Kurt was a very cool and fun guide. He gave us lots of helpful tips on how to take better pictures. We saw both well-known sights and some hidden gems around the island and had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the island for the first time.

Thank you Kurt for an excellent adventure. Started the day watching the sunrise on a beautiful beach, stopped at several scenic outlooks and parks. Had Breakfast at a cool little off the grid, and very reasonably priced establishment, ventured on to Buddhist temple, local surfing hangouts, found some turtles, got fresh fruit from a roadside shack. Kurt took us to places that are not the typical tourists traps, and we were able to enjoy the beauty that is Hawaii. Best part, although we all had our cell phones out, snapping away, Kurt shared the days photos he took with his profession camera with us. Those photos are stunning. To end the day, he treated us to the most delicious donut I ever had. So glad we took this tour. Worth every penny. Do it, and ask for Kurt. Aloha, Donna & Mark

Chris was our guide today. He gave us a fabulous tour, he exceptionally knows the area. He has a great sense of humor. We had many laughs today. Chris is a very good driver. Would definitely ask for him to give us a tour again. Chris needs a surprise increase in pay!

We had a great experience in this tour with Chris! He was very friendly and showed us some great spots :) He also shared lots of interesting information about the island throughout the tour and was always happy to answer questions. We had time to actually enjoy the different stops rather than simply driving past them, so this was a great plus. It was a fantastic way to see so much of Oahu in one day, especially places we probably wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Highly recommended!

This was the second time I have done the full Island tour with sunrise. It's such a great experience, especially if it's your first time visiting the island. It's a great way to get a little taste of everything. If you're into photography, this is also a great way to take the Island in, the sunrise alone is worth it. Andrew was our guide for the day and he was very friendly and knowledgeable, and so easy to talk to. He also had his own camera and shared his digital pictures with us at the end of the tour. He even took our portraits with his Instax instant camera and gave us the print, a very nice touch to the tour. Overall very happy with the tour, and taking in the sunrise is a must!

Kurt was an amazing guide/photographer. So much information. Kept everything moving but gave us enough time at many stops. Even was willing to teach is how to get the most out of out iphones to take better pictures. What a wonderful day. Look is up when in New York!!

I can’t recommend this tour enough. It is the best tour we have ever been on. Andrew is the most amazing tour guide!!! There were seven members in our group and Andrew was extremely friendly and so considerate and inclusive to everyone on the tour. He took time to teach my 11 year old son how to use his camera and even spoke French to one of the members of our group. He also told us so much about the history of Hawaii and the local culture. He will also teach you several tricks to do on your iPhone to take even better pictures. This tour hit all of the best spots on the island. The tour began with a stop with a spectacular sunrise on a beautiful spot on the ocean with big waves. As we parked, we even saw a turtle walk into the ocean here. Then we went to Makapu’u Lighthouse trail with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Then we had breakfast at a delicious cafe. After that, we visited the mountains and a Japanese Temple. Then we stopped by the ocean for a view of Mokoli’i. Next we stopped at a fruit stand that also had shaved ice. Then we went to a beautiful bay followed by a beach on the North Shore with very big waves and a few surfers followed by a beach with two turtles. Then we had a 45 minute stop for lunch at Hale’iwa that had lots of shops and food trucks. Lastly, we were treated to Hot Malasadas (Portuguese Donuts). We only arrived in Oahu yesterday and we have already seen so much of the island thanks to this tour! On this trip, we saw three turtles, lots of very cute cats, chickens, goldfish, some exotic birds, and a pasture of cows. I live for the Ocean and you will see so many beautiful beaches and spectacular views. Lastly, Andrew took numerous professional quality photos of me and my son that are absolutely priceless which he sent us for free. I will probably put them on my Holiday Card this year.

If you are going to do any circle island tour, I highly recommend choosing this one with your tour guide being Kurt. Right from the beginning Kurt was warm an welcoming. He kept everyone's spirits high, even at 5am! With a beautiful sunrise to start the day off to the endless information and hidden gems Kurt knew so much and more about the island itself. As you get through all the stops you see he is well known and gives a lot of Aloha around small businesses on the island. Kurt has a genuine passion for this tour not only having information about the island itself but the photography side of it, down to how to take a simple photo and turn it into a somewhat professional Picture! Overall, stunning 10hour day out, and such an epic way to see the island and all its got to offer! Bonus for seeing turtles on our day out too!! Thank you Kurt for such an amazing day, truly is the best way to see the island especially as a solo traveler! A hui hou!
