Itinerary
The Hana Highway is a 64.4 miles long (103.6 km), longest coastal scenic route in the world.
Just four miles into your drive to Hana from Kahului, you'll discover the historic town of Paia on Maui's north coast.
Hookipa Beach is considered the windsurfing capital of the world, you can enjoy watching wind surfers, kite boarders and surfers challenge the ocean waves and shoreline winds. This is also the threatened Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle capital of Maui along the shoreline and basking on the beach all day long
A bay on the northern coastline of Maui protected from the tradewinds by steep cliffs, Maliko Gulch is known as the launch point for what is considered the best downwind paddle around.
Twin Falls is the first easily accessible string of waterfalls and pools on the Road to Hana.
Haipua'ena Falls is a small waterfall and pool along Maui's popular Road to Hana. Thanks to the unsigned trail and short hike over an often muddy path, the pool receives far less visitor traffic than the well-signed falls along the route
The Ke'anae Peninsula is a dramatic half-mile long massive finger of newer lava sticking out from the cliff line of the Hana Highway.
Experience for yourself the deliciousness of Aunty Sandy’s Banana Bread and other roadside treats on your way to Hana. This unique Hawaiian experience even merited the attention of the famed Gordon Ramsey, which has helped even more people to discover this hidden gem.
Very photogenic spot to get photographed doing something life threatening.
The Keanae Overlook near Mile Marker 17 provides scenic views of Keanae's taro patches and the ocean beyond. The turnoff from the Hana Highway to the Keanae Peninsula is located just beyond the Keanae Arboretum.
Located just beyond Mile Marker 19 on the mauka—or mountain side—of Hana Highway, Upper Waikani Falls is often referred to as Three Bears.
The waterfall of all waterfalls. Absolutely stunning, and a popular photo op for Maui marketing brochures!
It's the 18th largest lava tube in the world and the largest by far on Maui. Winding your way through the extensive cave, which reaches heights of up to 40ft
Hana Bay Park is a centrally located county park and beach that serves as a town center for Hana.
Wai’ānapanapa, which means glistening waters, with Pailoa, its famous black sand beach and stunning coastal views.
It is a must-see along the Road to Hana. This is the place to stop if you're looking for a typically Hawaiian swimming hole and waterfall to swim under. The water is from a natural spring, unbelievably clean, but very cold.
located just past mile marker #19 on the RIGHT hand side of the road. There are stairs on the right, leading to a vantage point that provides views of Wailua Valley, Keanae Peninsula, distant waterfalls, and the Koolau Gap when facing inland.
A favorite among fishermen, surfers and local families, Honomanu Bay epitomizes seclusion. It rests at the base of Honomanu Valley, a verdant expanse of volcanic wonder—and the second largest valley on Haleakala's northern slopes—with rises that stretch 7,000 feet into the sky.
Spanning 7.8 acres and densely forested, it grants visitors up-close-and-personal views of African Tulip Trees and Paperbark, as well as sweeping vistas of Keʻanae Peninsula (and the vast, oh-so-blue ocean).
The unique rainbow tree reveals bright shades of green, blue, purple, orange and maroon, as patches of its bark shed throughout the year. Hawaii hosts many of these beautiful shrubs that can grow to an over-elming height of 200 feet! Many consider the rainbow eucalyptus the most beautiful tree on earth.

Our guide was beyond amazing. So knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He knows the area and can provide insight that many guid a s could not. He showed us places we would have never found on our own. His driving was excellent on a road I would never do on my own. If given the opportunity I would encourage visitors to use this company vs driving on their own. Relaxing and so much more to see and hear the history.
I had such a wonderful time on this excursion! We saw so many waterfalls and went to the black sand beach. It was a great way to spend the day without the stress of driving on the treacherous road!
We were incredibly impressed by the kindness and professionalism of Roger. He took us to beautiful places, the van was impeccable, the way he drives was amazing, and he really knows all the secrets about Hana. My son, husband and I were really happy and had a great experience with him.
I did the Road to Hana trip today - 24 Jan 25. Quinn was the tour guide he was knowledgeable, interesting, fun, personable & made the whole day a throughly enjoyable experience. I highly recommend his tour.
Tour guide was good but the Van had way too many people and we didn't go to the 7 sacred pools at the end of the road to Hana. They also didn't use the Ma'alaea Park and Ride for us who were staying in Kihei, Makena, Wailua so on the return we had to drive right past it and go all the way to Lahaina/Kaanapali which took over 2 hours up and back !!!! This made the tour very long.
Great excursion. Our guide Quinn, was so knowledgeable about the Road to Hana. He gave the history and folklore of Maui in such an entertaining fashion it made the 9 hour trip fly by. Along with the fantastic scenery it was one of the highlights of our vacation.
The tour was so much fun! It sounds like they're still going even after the fire? If so, I'm really glad to hear it. It's an easy recommendation for anyone visiting Lahaina if they're still operational.
This is a must do for almost any age and ability! Start off in a very nice facility and instruction process. Tom was very laid back but strict in the training and really well versed on the tour information. We really enjoyed the headset, so you will not miss any of the historical information while maneuvering your Segway. Top notch equipment gave us the confidence to maneuver easily through all of the humps, bumps and turns on the streets of Lahaina. Several stops along the way were right on time, which were necessary for historical briefings. We are avid Segway tourers in many destinations around the US, and we all agree that Tom, of Segway Maui, is at the top of the list! Mahalo, Mike
We had such a great time learning about the city of Lahaina! It was a beautiful Maui morning and an amazing way to start the day. We did this as a family (5 of us), one being my 74 year old mother in law. She was nervous and our guide Tom, was amazing…going through all the training with us, being so patient and kind. By the end of training, we were all ready to try! The tour Tom gave us was so interesting, informative and riding the streets of Lahaina was so fun! Highly recommend this activity! Such good mems!
We had a very fun tour of the historic section of Lahaina. We were put through our paces to get comfortable on the segways first. They provided pickup and return to our cruise ship and lots of helpful advice on local restaurants. Highly recommend.
We had a blast! The tour guide and his wife were extremely nice and pleasant people. Tom/Tim (sorry) was very patient and thorough during the equipment exercise prior to the tour. We had a great tour at a good pace.
Awesome tour, enjoyed the segway ride and loved the history of the area. The operators were very helpful and gracious.
Excellent tour with good equipment/training/tour with guide well educated in the history of Lahaina/Maui. Highly recommend it! Took my wife and two teen/preteen granddaughters and we all enjoyed it.
Tom was an awesome guide. He not only took us from never riding a Segway prior, to feeling very comfortable riding around Lahaina! He was also very knowledgeable about all things Maui related. Don’t be scared, this tour is for everyone!
Tom was a great guide. Very entertaining and knowledgeable. Made sure everyone was comfortable on the Segway. I have rented segways about 10 times in a lot of great cities and this is by far the best tour I have ever had.
The tour lasted 2 hours and was the perfect amount of time to see and learn about the history of Lahaina. Tom was a wonderful Segway tour guide. I would highly recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip as it gets you familiar with the area and all it has to offer for the rest of your stay.
Our family of 6 adults (3 couples) really enjoyed our Lahaina Segway tour with John. One daughter-in-law was quite nervous and timid on her Segway and the other DIL was quite the opposite! John did a fine job balancing those extremes and making sure everyone enjoyed the experience. Segway tours are a terrific way to learn about an area and cover a lot of territory in a fun way. We highly recommend Segway Maui!
Memorable and fun experience with a great tour guide John. He kept us safe and made our tour enjoyable !!
Outstanding tour.! This was our families 2nd time using Segway Maui. In 2019 we did the 3 hour tour on Kaanapali coast. This time we did the 2 hour tour in Lahaina. Our group was 8 people including 2 teenagers. Tour guide John was superb showing us Lahaina town and educating us on local history. He even took pictures. Most importantly, SAFETY is paramount to Segway Maui. Mahalo
I scheduled a tour for my family in August 2021 while we were in Maui. We have been to the Island 2-3 times already and were looking for something new to do. We had our 15 year old son with us as well so we wanted to make sure it was something FUN and informative for him to do. Enter Segway Maui!!! We got an 8 minute training video to start off the tour followed by some one on one training with John our awesome instructor/tour guide in the parking lot. After we could display some proficiency on the segway, we were off to see Maui. John was full of all kinds of interesting insights and fun facts on the history of Maui and the Front Street area in particular as we segwayed though town. I gotta tell ya, I would love to just walk through town with John and give me history lessons on the area!!! None of us had ever ridden a segway before but by the end of the tour, we were all hooked!!! Thanks so much to John and the rest of the crew for a great experience. The next time we are in Maui, we will be sure to be back for another tour.
Amazing!!! I absolutely loved this tour and John did a great job showing us the town!!! At first I was nervous but thanks to the great teaching I understood how to use the Segway right away and had a great time!!
Our family had an amazing tour with our knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide, John. The training prior to the tour was thorough, and we were provided ear-piece radios for John to give us instruction during the tour. John has a deep knowledge of the history of Lahaina, and during the tour he shared details about the historical sites we visited. There were several breaks for us to walk around and rehydrate. I definitely recommend this tour to your family!
I had so much fun with my family today segwaying around Lahaina!!! John was such a fun and energetic tour guide and he made sure we were safe while riding in style!!! 10/10 best segway tour i’ve been on yet!
We had a good time. The equipment and facility were great and the views were amazing. We could have used more riding and less talking from the guide, but John was a great teacher and knows all about the history of Lahaina. Make sure you take this tour.
Our guide John was an excellent instructor and really challenged us to be proper riders and got my kids to learn how to ride and be safe. He’s knowledgeable about the area and about Segways. Highly recommend.
Thank you, John! We had a wonderful time on your tour. We saw most all of downtown Lahaina, and it was Super Easy especially for first time Segway riders. It only takes about 5 minutes to learn. The Lahaina tour took us through Maui history, cultural icons, museums, and historic destinations. It was fabulous: not too long, not too hot, it was Just Right!
Very cool way to explore the town. John was knowledgeable and everyone we dealt with was super nice. We even got fresh mangos along the way. The experience lasted about 2 hours with at least 30 min of instruction- I mean thorough training (which is fun too) The segways are quality and I like that he used a mic during the tour so all could hear. Definitely recommend, you will enjoy it.
John was absolutely phenomenal with his instruction. We went from stumbling to expert in record time. Definitely made this experience worthwhile; especially for a 1st time. I highly recommend adding this to your list of activities while in Maui.
We did a private segway tour with Tom. He was very knowledgeable and delivered a good mix of safety and fun. We went along the waterfront toward Kaanapali then back toward Lahaina. Learned some history and saw several turtles and mongoose. I highly recommend this experience!
The two hours started with paperwork, and training for about a half hour, John our guide ensured the whole party of 4 were comfortable enough to drive the PT safely. The tour went down Front street and through the marina and to the old court house and Jail. John our guide shared his knowledge of the area I would agree a little less time on training and more time riding the PT so it would be a true 2 hour tour. I would agree that start your vacation with this tour to learn the area
Our tour guides were so good about teaching our elderly parents (80 & 82) how to segway. They took a lot of time to make sure everyone was comfortable and SAFE! The tour of downtown Lahaina was informative with lots of stops for tired feet. Some of us have been on many segway tours but this one meant the most to us because our parents were able to join us. No Maui owie!! Good job guys!
My husband and I enjoyed our segway tour, Darin was a great tour guide! Could've spent a little less time on the training, tour felt a bit rushed because of so much training time (because 1 girl wasn't getting it). Overall, fun experience!
