Family, Private & Group Standup Paddle Lessons In Waikiki

It was our first time paddle boarding and it was fun. We were totally beginners and a bit scared of water actually but our male instructor was so great that we felt very comfortable being in the water. It’s a pity we forgot his name but we’d highly recommend him for any beginners. Very hospitable. However we had experienced inconvenience with reservation that we had to change our date of the lesson and reschedule it to a later day after online booking was completed.

Jaden was very fun and relaxed, which made us feel more at ease. We paddled a lot farther than I ever would’ve done on my own, which is a good thing. The entire time we were in the most beautiful turquoise water, it was amazing.

I had an amazing time. My instructor was extremely nice and patient with me. I would definitely recommend this activity with this company. They are the best.

My sister and I took a semi-private standup paddle lesson with Kai ( one instructor with 2 ppl). He's awesome! He explained everything clearly and did a quick demo before we got into the water. First time for me but within half hour into the lesson, I was able to paddle standing up on the board. It's super fun! We also enjoyed the fantastic view of Waikiki and Diamond Head while paddling.

I did sup for the first time with my family and that was so much fun ! Instructors were so friendly and supportive! Definitely worth it!

My 14 and 16 year old boys learned very quickly with this surf school. The price was well worth it. The instructors were kind, patient, and encouraging. My boys stood up quickly, so I know the training was great! Highly recommend!

Excellent communication prior to the pick up. We knew exactly what to expect and where we would be picked up. The driver was courteous and took us to their surf shop. From there they showed us a video to help us visualize the process. The instructors were all kind, encouraging and fun. We all got up after 1 try, some of us got up on the first try! Don't hesitate to use these guys, they are professionals. I saw 8 year olds get up, 20 year olds, 50 year olds and even one 65 year old all get up.

Even if you book out a semi-private session (we booked 2 instructors for 4 people), there’s a large group of participants and instructors surfing at the same time in the area, so it’s not as exclusive as you might want it to be. But the instructors were really helpful and encouraging. We had a great time learning the basics of surfing and riding the waves.

Very helpful and responsive when we made booking (last minute). On arrival everything was well organised with detailed briefing safety video. Surf instructor Luke was amazing and our teenage boys had an incredible time. To top it off, you can purchase photos and video at reasonable price (remember to tick pre-pay when you book lesson, well worth the discount and memory keepsake).

Kai was great ! Very attentive, very encouraging and funny as hell. He really took time explaining the purpose for each step in learning how to surf.

Awesome!! Could not recommend more :) Instructors were super friendly and encouraging and made the experience fun for all experience levels. They made sure we were able to catch as many waves as possible and gave constructive feedback after each wave. This was the highlight of our trip for sure. Shoutout to our teacher Mark for his encouragement and teaching, was great to surf with you!

Very nice lesson. You start as a group to explain the basic than there is one instructor per 2 people. But the other instructors on the water also the ones taking pictures are there to help and guide your safety. We had the instructor Tyler very good & calm. Very straight & clear instructions. Take 2 hours! As a beginner you need it.

My wife and I had an awesome time! We were stoked to ride multiple waves on our first surf lesson. Mark and the guys made it super fun, safe, and it was a great introduction to the sport. Highly recommend checking them out for a lesson.

This was our first time surfing, and mind you we are not strong swimmers. Kevin and his team worked so well together, they were so kind and funny and had us laughing the whole time. At no time did I feel unsafe and best part is I was able to ride 2 long waves almost all the way to shore! Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn learn how to surf!

The semi-private lesson was a great experience for us as beginners - a teen and an adult with an individual instructor as part of a larger group. The instructor was patient and made things fun, the location was beautiful, and the set up worked smoothly.

We are a couple in our 50’s. We were not sure this was right for us. We are so glad we did it! It was amazing, so fun! The instructors make it way less physically draining then it would be doing it yourself. Both of us got up and we have great pictures to prove it!

Had originally tried to book surf lessons with another company but they wanted payment AND tips paid prior to our arrival to the Island. Not a good feel so cancelled. Searched reviews and found Ohana Surf on the Viator site (which I love). We were a family of 4 adults. Booking and payment was super easy and communication prior to our arrival from Viator and Ohana was constant and easy to understand. We were all impressed with the entire process from check/in (at the Marriott Hotel) all the way to checkout (review of pics and videos). Each group had a private instructor. We had (Andrew/aka Jacob) as well as a celebrity instructor (Marcus) for our party of 4. We made so many runs we were exhausted and ready to quit before our time was up. Not sure what took us so long but so glad our first time taking surf lessons was with Ohana Surf. Thanks Ohana! We are officially addicted to surfing.❤️

Confident and seemingly experienced instructors live up to the reviews of getting kids up and riding wave after wave. The GoPro videos and photos in the phot package were also amazing. The surf instructors were phenomenal! They were so patient with our family of four ensuring we all knew what we were doing, had a great time, and got up on the board several times! Very easy to follow instructions to get to our meeting place and very reasonable prices on photos and videos. Would definitely recommend and would use again!

Me and my Wife did this. Had an Amazing morning. We are both not the strongest swimmer's and have never surfed before(both coming from the uk). Found the whole set up very good. I would suggest doing the 2 hour lessons because I think an hour is not long enough. We found the instructors very good and very patient with the whole group. We had Damien and Chelsea. Would reccomed to people.

This was an awesome experience! From communication before the event to the photos after, it was very smooth. Our Instructor, Mark, was the best! He was very attentive and wanted my husband and I to catch as many waves as possible during the 2 hours. If we got a little tired from paddling, he would help pull us out to the surf for the next wave. This day was definitely a highlight of our trip!

My kids loved the experience. The instructors were super friendly, funny, and watchful. My kids begged to go back to take another session, which didn’t happen due to a mistake on my end (I sent an inquiry email but didn’t realize it had been sitting in the outbox for a few days). They also take awesome pictures. Surfing is probably the first thing my kids would do when they return to Hawaii. Thank you everyone!

What a great adventure! To learn to surf on my 60th birthday was a goal for many years and OSP did NOT disappoint! If you've ever even thought you might want to do this, be sure to book this experience. You are in the hands of true professionals: kind, patient, fun, encouraging, patient, challenging, did I mention patient? It was a wonderful experience. When we first arrived at the debrief session, I saw at least 15-20 other participants and I thought we would just fall through the cracks. How could they teach us effectively with that many participants? And how much time on the water could we actually have with a group of that size? Well, I was wrong. My husband and I were taught by Chelsea who was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! She took us step by step at our pace and cheered us on the whole way. It felt like a private lesson. She tailored our lesson to our exact needs and interests. I have been a teacher trainer for over 20 years and so I know good teaching when I see it. It begins with forming trust and starting with what the learner knows and expanding it into new learning. Chelsea communicated so clearly and effectively to help us form and refine our technique so that we not only got up once but several times on our boards. It was unbelievable! We had never been on surfboards before and here we were, riding in by ourselves. We did have several wipeouts in addition to our rides but they were actually fun, too! She made the whole process safe-to-fail which allowed us to experiment and mess up as many times as we needed til we were successful. The first couple of times we just rode in on our stomachs or knees to get a feel for the wave. She said when we felt comfortable to ease up on the board we could do that and it gave us so much more confidence. It was really great that the whole experience was documented with photos and videos! There were so many pictures to choose from, I couldn't decide so we got the whole package. I guess the most impressive part of our experience was that we were working with a team of professionals. You could tell that they were trained in safety first. That was their number one priority. Second, each team member worked to make us feel comfortable and capable. They really believed in us. Although, Chelsea was our main teacher, they all worked as a team together making sure everyone was safe, everyone had a great experience, and no one felt overlooked. They were truly customer service oriented. You don't see that much anymore these days and it's refreshing. I don't like hearing side conversations, work drama or inside jokes that make the customers feel incidental. We are why they do what they do; our safety, our enjoyment and our success are their number one priority. One of the most touching moments was when we got back, each of them greeted us "Welcome back, SURFERS!" This was so cool. I would never consider myself a surfer, but in their eyes we were now part of the surf ohana. We rode waves, on our bellies, our knees, and occasionally on our feet, but we rode each wave and that made us surfers. So validating! I will definitely tell my friends and colleagues that this is an experience not to be missed. Thank you, OSP for making a dream come true! Keep up the fantastic work. First time in Hawaii and we had surfing lessons on our list of must do! We had an amazing time. Our guides taught us how to pop up on the surfboards and to ride the waves. We loved it!

I couldn’t have asked for a better first surfing experience! The staff were all lovely and made me feel super comfortable about surfing. I was a little anxious and nervous but having our instructor, Miguel, with us helped out with that. I was able to get up a few times. It was a blast and peaked my interest in surfing.

This was a great experience. They provided us with all the gear and we made the short bus ride to the surf spot. They thought of everything and even provided a place to store our items. Everyone involved was extremely positive and encouraging. My wife and I booked the lessons and we got a dedicated coach, who was awesome and made sure that we all had fun and caught some waves. They had several people taking video and still photos and for a $25 extra, we got some great footage. I highly recommend them! This was a big highlight of our trip. They made it so easy and fun!

Had an amazing time surfing with Kevin and the team. Pick up and drop off was easy and Emily’s communication was very good. We caught plenty of waves and this is good for any level of experience.
